Based on the high-water price target on Wall Street for each respective company, these four stocks are expected to skyrocket between 107% and 240% in 2022.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4b374767519664b8db44345db4054856\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>Teladoc Health: Implied upside of 126%</h2>\n<p>It's been a wild ride for telehealth kingpin <b>Teladoc Health</b> (NYSE:TDOC). After more than doubling in 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic, the virtual visit platform has been more than halved this year. But if analyst Sean Dodge of RBC Capital proves accurate in his estimate, Teladoc could rocket 126% higher to a price target of $215 in 2022.</p>\n<p>While critics would argue that Teladoc's sales growth in 2020 was a flash in the pan, the company's growth prior to the pandemic suggests otherwise. In the six years leading up to the pandemic, it grew sales by an annual average of 74%.</p>\n<p>The fact is that Teladoc is changing the face of personalized care. Its virtual visit platform is more convenient for patients and can allow physicians to keep closer tabs on chronically ill people. This should ultimately result in improved patient outcomes and lower costs for health insurers. This latter is particularly important since it means insurers will promote the use of telemedicine, when applicable.</p>\n<p>Teladoc's supercharged growth also comes on the heels of its acquisition of leading applied health signals company Livongo Health a year ago. Livongo uses artificial intelligence to send tips and nudges to its enrolled members with chronic illnesses, such as diabetes and hypertension. The ability for Teladoc and Livongo to cross-sell should help the company maintain jaw-dropping growth potential.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f46d76c781cc47d68033914c1c794a63\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"467\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>Trulieve Cannabis: Implied upside of 169%</h2>\n<p>If there's an industry where Wall Street's price targets are consistently well above where the underlying stocks are currently trading, it's cannabis -- specifically U.S. cannabis. If the prognostication of Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Pablo Zuanic proves correct, marijuana stock <b>Trulieve Cannabis</b> (OTC:TCNNF) could hit $72 in 2022.&nbsp; That represents upside of 169%, relative to where shares closed last week.</p>\n<p>Like most multi-state operators (MSO), Trulieve is letting its retail operations do most of the work. But Trulieve took a different path to growth than most MSOs. Instead of trying to plant its proverbial flag in as many legalized states as possible, Trulieve focused most of its attention on saturating medical marijuana-legal Florida. Less than a week ago, it opened its 112th dispensary in the Sunshine State, which compares to 47 outside of Florida.</p>\n<p>Focusing on a single high-dollar market has its perks. Since Trulieve controls well over a quarter of all statewide dispensaries in Florida, it doesn't have to spend much on marketing. Not having to budget a lot of money to build up its brands has resulted in three consecutive years of profitability for the company.</p>\n<p>The next exciting step for Trulieve is inorganic growth. In October, it closed the biggest deal in U.S. cannabis history by purchasing MSO Harvest Health &amp; Recreation. Harvest has a dominant presence in its home market of Arizona, which legalized adult-use weed in November 2020. With a huge presence in Florida and now other high-dollar markets, Trulieve's shares do appear inexpensive.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/adeabde34f734ed7e50341c423f99b88\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>Root: Implied upside of 240%</h2>\n<p>Small-cap stocks are expected to get in on the action, too. Following an abysmal year that's seen shares of insurance company <b>Root</b> (NASDAQ:ROOT) decline by 79%, at least <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> investment bank is expecting a big rebound. Based on Wall Street's high price target of $11, Root offers upside of 240% in 2022.</p>\n<p>For decades, the auto insurance industry has used an assortment of metrics, such as credit scores, age, and marital status, to determine how much their members should pay each month. Unfortunately, these figures don't actually tell insurance companies how well or poor of a driver someone is. Root is aiming to disrupt this stodgy industry by relying on telematics.</p>\n<p>In simple terms, Root is using highly sensitive equipment found in smartphones to detect G-forces while a driver brakes, accelerates, and turns. Utilizing true driving data, as well as driving trends within a state or region, should allow the company to accurately price policies up front for new members.</p>\n<p>On the downside, Root is a relatively new player, which means it's going to have to spend aggressively to build up its brand (i.e., expect sizable losses to continue). However, initial accident loss ratios have been mostly encouraging. With gross accident period loss ratios coming in below 100% for much of the past two years -- a figure below 100% implies a profitably written policy -- the data suggests a telematics-based approach can be successful.</p>\n<p>Root is a very risky investment, but it does offer incredible reward potential.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/81aa2c60b7ad9fa0ab9c99c53e91fca6\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>Sea Limited: Implied upside of 107%</h2>\n<p>Wall Street also sees big things happening for Singapore-based company <b>Sea Limited</b> (NYSE:SE), which has been in a precipitous downtrend over the past two months. If the $460 price target from <b>Goldman Sachs </b>analyst Piyush Mubayi is correct, megacap stock Sea could more than double in value next year.</p>\n<p>The lure of Sea Limited is that it has a trio of rapidly growing and diversified operating segments.</p>\n<p>For the moment, the company's digital entertainment division is the only one of the three generating positive earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA). Sea's mobile game, <i>Free Fire</i>, continues to be a worldwide hit. In the September-ended quarter, 12.8% of its 729 million gamers were paying to play.&nbsp; That's a pay-to-play conversion ratio that's many multiples higher than the industry average.</p>\n<p>Secondly, Sea's nascent digital financial services segment is gaining traction. There are now more than 39 million people using the company's digital wallet services, with payment volume hitting $4.6 billion in the third quarter.</p>\n<p>The third fast-growing segment, and arguably what has investors so excited about Sea, is e-commerce platform Shopee. Shopee is consistently the most-downloaded shopping app in Southeastern Asia, and it's gained plenty of appeal in Brazil. Since it's primarily targeting emerging market countries with burgeoning middle classes, growth is off the scale. Instead of trying to plant its proverbial flag in as many legalized states as possible, Trulieve focused most of its attention on saturating medical marijuana-legal Florida. Less than a week ago, it opened its 112th dispensary in the Sunshine State, which compares to 47 outside of Florida.\nFocusing on a single high-dollar market has its perks. Since Trulieve controls well over a quarter of all statewide dispensaries in Florida, it doesn't have to spend much on marketing. Not having to budget a lot of money to build up its brands has resulted in three consecutive years of profitability for the company.\nThe next exciting step for Trulieve is inorganic growth. In October, it closed the biggest deal in U.S. cannabis history by purchasing MSO Harvest Health & Recreation. Harvest has a dominant presence in its home market of Arizona, which legalized adult-use weed in November 2020. Following an abysmal year that's seen shares of insurance company Root (NASDAQ:ROOT) decline by 79%, at least one investment bank is expecting a big rebound. Based on Wall Street's high price target of $11, Root offers upside of 240% in 2022.\nFor decades, the auto insurance industry has used an assortment of metrics, such as credit scores, age, and marital status, to determine how much their members should pay each month. Unfortunately, these figures don't actually tell insurance companies how well or poor of a driver someone is. Root is aiming to disrupt this stodgy industry by relying on telematics.\nIn simple terms, Root is using highly sensitive equipment found in smartphones to detect G-forces while a driver brakes, accelerates, and turns. Utilizing true driving data, as well as driving trends within a state or region, should allow the company to accurately price policies up front for new members.\nOn the downside, Root is a relatively new player, which means it's going to have to spend aggressively to build up its brand (i.e., expect sizable losses to continue). However, initial accident loss ratios have been mostly encouraging. With gross accident period loss ratios coming in below 100% for much of the past two years -- a figure below 100% implies a profitably written policy -- the data suggests a telematics-based approach can be successful.\nRoot is a very risky investment, but it does offer incredible reward potential.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nSea Limited: Implied upside of 107%\nWall Street also sees big things happening for Singapore-based company Sea Limited (NYSE:SE), which has been in a precipitous downtrend over the past two months. If the $460 price target from Goldman Sachs analyst Piyush Mubayi is correct, megacap stock Sea could more than double in value next year.\nThe lure of Sea Limited is that it has a trio of rapidly growing and diversified operating segments.\nFor the moment, the company's digital entertainment division is the only one of the three generating positive earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA). Sea's mobile game, Free Fire, continues to be a worldwide hit. In the September-ended quarter, 12.8% of its 729 million gamers were paying to play.  That's a pay-to-play conversion ratio that's many multiples higher than the industry average.\nSecondly, Sea's nascent digital financial services segment is gaining traction. There are now more than 39 million people using the company's digital wallet services, with payment volume hitting $4.6 billion in the third quarter.\nThe third fast-growing segment, and arguably what has investors so excited about Sea, is e-commerce platform Shopee. Shopee is consistently the most-downloaded shopping app in Southeastern Asia, and it's gained plenty of appeal in Brazil. Since it's primarily targeting emerging market countries with burgeoning middle classes, growth is off the scale. By letting players compete for real cash prizes, it would bridge the gap between gambling and e-sports. Or that was the idea, anyway.</p>\n<p>Skillz stock hit $46 at one point early in 2021. Powered up by heavy momentum trading and rumors of an National Football League (NFL) partnership, Skillz was on top of the world. Since then, however, shares have crashed 80%. And there’s not much good news either. SKLZ stock will continue to sink in 2022. Here’s why.</p>\n<p><b>Skillz Is Not A Functional Business</b></p>\n<p>The first rule of business is that you should sell your goods and services for more than the cost of product. Skillz fails this metric, badly.</p>\n<p>Q3 was supposedly a great quarter for Skillz. It generated significantly more revenues than analysts had expected, after all. If you’re just going by revenues, Skillz had its ducks in a row.</p>\n<p>But you have to consider the cost of generating those revenues. Here’s the numbers specifically. For Q3, Skillz did $102 million of topline revenue, up from $60 million in the same quarter of 2020. However, the company spent $113 million on sales &amp; marketing expenses to generate that $102 million of revenue.</p>\n<p>A huge chunk of this is in player incentives, such as giving folks more credits or bonuses to keep playing after they lose. In this way, it’s supposed to keep users interested in the ecosystem. However, if a casino has no edge, it won’t make money. This raises the question: If Skillz stopped giving out so much free stuff, would anyone keep playing its games?</p>\n<p>If Skillz has to incentivize players to stay engaged, it has no long-term business model. Just from sales and marketing alone, Skillz is more than outspending its entire revenue base. That’s before you get to R&amp;D, management salaries and overhead, data and other costs to run the games, and interest. Speaking of interest…</p>\n<p><b>Skillz Catastrophic Bond Offering</b></p>\n<p>Given that Skillz is running colossal operating losses right now, not surprisingly, it wants to raise more funds to keep the show going. And, with the stock price in a deep slump, issuing equity is not an attractive option.</p>\n<p>So, instead, Skillz turned to the debt market to get its next cash injection. Unfortunately, demand for Skillz’ bonds was underwhelming, to put it mildly. To raise a modest $300 million of debt, Skillz had to shell out a mind-blowing&nbsp;10.25% annual interest rate. That will add another $30 million in annual interest expenses to a company that is already losing around $200 million annually on an operating income basis.</p>\n<p>If the company had a viable turnaround plan, maybe this $300 million of new funds would make a difference. But since Skillz’ business so far is simply to increase revenues by subsidizing players with more and more incentives, it’s unclear how more cash will fix its core problem. The games just aren’t of the caliber needed to attract and keep unincentivized players on the platform.</p>\n<p>We just saw a clear piece of evidence confirming that. Skillz’ Chief Technology Officer, Miriam Aguirre, recently&nbsp;resigned. A CTO is one of the people who knows a firm’s prospects best. Creditors are another. And both are giving off negative signs about Skillz’ viability.</p>\n<p><b>Beware The EBITDA Narrative</b></p>\n<p>Tech investors are used to buying stocks based on EBITDA. That’s a shorthand for earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization. People like to use this as a metric because it gives a sense of the amount of cash flow that would be available to a strategic buyer, such as private equity. It gives an “apples to apples” way of comparing firms with much different balance sheets and debt burdens.</p>\n<p>However, there are shortfalls to using EBITDA. For one thing, the costs tend to be real expenses. In this case, interest is a very real problem for a small money-losing company like Skillz. Skillz may be able to use its newly-borrowed funds to generate some EBITDA. But it will have to pay very real interest — nearly 20% of its current annual gross profit — simply to address this new high-interest debt. That paper EBITDA will never turn into real profits or cash flow for shareholders.</p>\n<p>For Skillz to become a viable business, it needs to make games that users want to play of their own volition. As long as Skillz has to pay users huge incentives to stay on the platform, this business will lose money. Don’t let misleading EBITDA analysis distract you from the fact that the core business model has failed to demonstrate success yet.</p>\n<p><b>SKLZ Stock Verdict</b></p>\n<p>The credit market has made it very clear; Skillz is a high-risk gamble at this point. In a world with a seemingly unlimited amount of money to fund speculative ventures and start-ups, Skillz had to accept a loan on terrible terms to get funding. That makes SKLZ stock a clear avoid.</p>\n<p>In fact, I’ll go one step further. I’d argue this bond is being priced as though creditors believe there’s a good chance that Skillz will not be a viable going concern in future years. You simply don’t slap this sort of punitive interest rate on a company unless you think there’s a solid chance that the equity ends up being worthless. People are desperate for yield right now, and yet they wouldn’t lend to Skillz for less than 10.25% per year. Given Skillz’ terrible profitability metrics, it’s understandable why creditors have taken this posture.</p>\n<p>Gaming stocks have had a rough time to end 2021. But they’re not all created equal. By letting players compete for real cash prizes, it would bridge the gap between gambling and e-sports. Or that was the idea, anyway.\nSkillz stock hit $46 at one point early in 2021. Powered up by heavy momentum trading and rumors of an National Football League (NFL) partnership, Skillz was on top of the world. Since then, however, shares have crashed 80%. And there’s not much good news either. SKLZ stock will continue to sink in 2022. Here’s why.\nSkillz Is Not A Functional Business\nThe first rule of business is that you should sell your goods and services for more than the cost of product. Skillz fails this metric, badly.\nQ3 was supposedly a great quarter for Skillz. It generated significantly more revenues than analysts had expected, after all. If you’re just going by revenues, Skillz had its ducks in a row.\nBut you have to consider the cost of generating those revenues. Here’s the numbers specifically. For Q3, Skillz did $102 million of topline revenue, up from $60 million in the same quarter of 2020. However, the company spent $113 million on sales & marketing expenses to generate that $102 million of revenue.\nA huge chunk of this is in player incentives, such as giving folks more credits or bonuses to keep playing after they lose. In this way, it’s supposed to keep users interested in the ecosystem. However, if a casino has no edge, it won’t make money. This raises the question: If Skillz stopped giving out so much free stuff, would anyone keep playing its games?\nIf Skillz has to incentivize players to stay engaged, it has no long-term business model. Just from sales and marketing alone, Skillz is more than outspending its entire revenue base. That’s before you get to R&D, management salaries and overhead, data and other costs to run the games, and interest. Speaking of interest…\nSkillz Catastrophic Bond Offering\nGiven that Skillz is running colossal operating losses right now, not surprisingly, it wants to raise more funds to keep the show going. And, with the stock price in a deep slump, issuing equity is not an attractive option.\nSo, instead, Skillz turned to the debt market to get its next cash injection. Unfortunately, demand for Skillz’ bonds was underwhelming, to put it mildly. To raise a modest $300 million of debt, Skillz had to shell out a mind-blowing 10.25% annual interest rate. That will add another $30 million in annual interest expenses to a company that is already losing around $200 million annually on an operating income basis.\nIf the company had a viable turnaround plan, maybe this $300 million of new funds would make a difference. But since Skillz’ business so far is simply to increase revenues by subsidizing players with more and more incentives, it’s unclear how more cash will fix its core problem. The games just aren’t of the caliber needed to attract and keep unincentivized players on the platform.\nWe just saw a clear piece of evidence confirming that. Skillz’ Chief Technology Officer, Miriam Aguirre, recently resigned. A CTO is one of the people who knows a firm’s prospects best. Creditors are another. And both are giving off negative signs about Skillz’ viability.\nBeware The EBITDA Narrative\nTech investors are used to buying stocks based on EBITDA. That’s a shorthand for earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization. People like to use this as a metric because it gives a sense of the amount of cash flow that would be available to a strategic buyer, such as private equity. It gives an “apples to apples” way of comparing firms with much different balance sheets and debt burdens.\nHowever, there are shortfalls to using EBITDA. For one thing, the costs tend to be real expenses. In this case, interest is a very real problem for a small money-losing company like Skillz. Skillz may be able to use its newly-borrowed funds to generate some EBITDA. But it will have to pay very real interest — nearly 20% of its current annual gross profit — simply to address this new high-interest debt. That paper EBITDA will never turn into real profits or cash flow for shareholders.\nFor Skillz to become a viable business, it needs to make games that users want to play of their own volition. As long as Skillz has to pay users huge incentives to stay on the platform, this business will lose money. Don’t let misleading EBITDA analysis distract you from the fact that the core business model has failed to demonstrate success yet.\nSKLZ Stock Verdict\nThe credit market has made it very clear; Skillz is a high-risk gamble at this point. In a world with a seemingly unlimited amount of money to fund speculative ventures and start-ups, Skillz had to accept a loan on terrible terms to get funding. That makes SKLZ stock a clear avoid.\nIn fact, I’ll go one step further. I’d argue this bond is being priced as though creditors believe there’s a good chance that Skillz will not be a viable going concern in future years. You simply don’t slap this sort of punitive interest rate on a company unless you think there’s a solid chance that the equity ends up being worthless. People are desperate for yield right now, and yet they wouldn’t lend to Skillz for less than 10.25% per year. Given Skillz’ terrible profitability metrics, it’s understandable why creditors have taken this posture.\nGaming stocks have had a rough time to end 2021. But they’re not all created equal. This is why the latest semiconductor news is such&nbsp;<i>good</i>&nbsp;news for AMD stock.</p>\n<p>As Reuters reported on Thursday, just ahead of the Christmas break, AMD was able to amend and extend its contract manufacturing agreement with<b>GlobalFoundries</b>(NASDAQ:GFS). Instead of having GlobalFoundries send it just $1.6 billion worth of silicon wafers between 2022 and 2024, AMD will buy $2.1 billion in wafers from 2022 to 2025.</p>\n<p>Now what</p>\n<p>Of course, this could actually be a \"good news, bad news\" development for AMD when you think about it. On the one hand, AMD has extended its access to GlobalFoundries', er, foundries for an extra year. On the other hand, though, extending a three-year contract by one year is a 33.3% extension in time, while the number of chips AMD is buying over that longer timespan is just 31.2% more than it was scheduled to acquire over the original three-year timespan.</p>\n<p>Net-net, that works out to slightly&nbsp;<i>less</i>&nbsp;access to GlobalFoundries' manufacturing capacity in the fourth year of the contract than in the original three years. The tech stock's valuation is very cheap relative to the company's recent growth. Consider that the Facebook parent's trailing-12-month revenue and net income of $112 billion and $40 billion, respectively, are up from $71 billion and $18 billion in 2019. Even with such staggering recent growth, Meta Platforms trades at only 24 times its current level of earnings.</p>\n<p>While the company is running into some near-term growth headwinds related to <b>Apple</b>'s recent changes to advertising tracking and measurement, it's not like the suppressed growth Meta Platforms is expecting is poor. Management guided for fourth-quarter revenue to be between $31.5 billion and $34 billion. The midpoint of this guidance range represents 17% revenue growth. Further, analysts are still modeling for exceptional earnings-per-share growth over the next five years. On average, analysts currently expect Meta Platforms' earnings per share to compound at a growth rate of 21% annually over this period.</p>\n<p>Meta Platforms' network effect of billions of monthly active users makes its business very durable. Not only has the company's core Facebook platform consistently grown larger with no close challenger, but the company's other social networks with more intense competition (namely Instagram) have shown they can easily deploy features that imitate successful competitors, helping them stay relevant.</p>\n<h2>Tractor Supply Company</h2>\n<p>Some city folk may have never even stepped foot in a Tractor Supply store. But investors shouldn't overlook this investment just because they're not familiar with the retailer. Tractor Supply, which specializes in rural lifestyle, has a strong retail niche and is capitalizing well on several different important growth catalysts, including private label and exclusive brands, pet food, and e-commerce. Its balanced business has helped revenue grow 24% year over year in the trailing 12 months, and helped earnings per share grow 22%.</p>\n<p>Tractor Supply is notably mastering e-commerce in a market where many of its customers live farther apart than people do in the city. These communities come with unique challenges that Tractor Supply is able to develop expertise in, and the company's strategy is working. Tractor Supply said on its most recent earnings call that its e-commerce sales increased at a rate faster than 40% year over year.</p>\n<p>While the stock's price-to-earnings ratio of 29 isn't exactly cheap, the company's positioning as the lead retailer for the rural lifestyle makes this business worth paying up for. Given how specialized Tractor Supply is, it would be very difficult for a competitor to topple it. And with the pandemic not coming to a close just yet (certainly not with the omicron variant still in its early stages), its stock has remained a hot commodity.</p>\n<p>Through the first nine months of the year, the healthcare company's sales of $11.3 billion are 49 times the $232 million that Moderna generated over the same period last year. And that was when it was just accumulating income from grants and collaboration efforts. This year, the company has recorded more than $10.7 billion in product sales -- due to its vaccine.</p>\n<p>Entering 2022, with a new COVID-19 variant to worry about and a potential fourth booster shot on the way, demand isn't likely to taper off. In fact, Moderna anticipates more revenue in 2022 than it generated this year (its forecast for 2022 tops out at $22 billion in sales versus $18 billion for 2021).</p>\n<p>At a forward price-to-earnings ratio of just 11, Moderna looks like a bargain compared to automaker Tesla, where investors are paying 155 times future profits for its stock. Of course, Tesla is in a different industry, but Moderna's ratio falls just below the S&amp;P 500 Pharmaceuticals forward PE ratio of 13. On the company's most recent earnings call, Nvidia said that it expects to see continued growth in its data center business, which provides companies with the infrastructure they need to manage their operations in the cloud. CEO Jensen Huang said that \"customers are very mindful of securing their supply for their scale out.\"</p>\n<p>Through the first nine months of 2021, the company's sales totaled $19.3 billion and rose 65% year over year. The bulk of its sales (85%) come from its gaming and data center segments. And while gaming has grown at a rapid rate of 72% thus far, the company expects the data center to grow at a faster pace heading into the last quarter of the fiscal year.
