In September, the Asian Development Bank dropped its 2021 growth forecast for the region to 3.1% from 4.4% previously.
\n
Widespread lockdowns in the region due to recurring waves of COVID-19 have hurt demand for Grab’s ride-hailing services and weighed on revenue despite an increase in food-delivery volumes.
\n
Grab reported its third-quarter results on Nov. 11. Revenue fell 9% year over year to $157 million, with the company citing “a decline in mobility due to the severe lockdowns in Vietnam.” Falling revenue is obviously not something investors want to see, especially from a company that has yet to turn a profit.
\n
Yet, the company did report a 32% year-over-year increase in gross merchandise value, with the dollar value of transactions from Grab’s services rising to $4.04 billion thanks to strength in the company’s deliveries segment.
\n
There’s Reason for Optimism
\n
The deal to go public through the merger with Altimeter Growth Corp. valued Grab at close to $40 billion, which as I mentioned, was a record. The fact that three weeks later GRAB stock has a market cap of about $27.5 billion tells us that perhaps things got a bit too heated. However, there is reason for optimism.
\n
The ride-hailing platform has secured the backing of significant players across related industries, including DiDi Global(NYSE:DIDI),Toyota(NYSE:TM) and SoftBank’s(OTCMKTS:SFTBY) Vision Fund.
\n
Grab Holdings also has some positive catalysts on the horizon. For example, the company recently announced that it will be purchasing Jaya Grocer, a premium supermarket chain in Malaysia.
\n
This acquisition fits nicely with the ride-hailing and delivery business model the company seeks to expand. Musk shows Etsy some love
\n

\n

\n

\n
In January, Musk showed his appreciation for Etsy, a US e-commerce company known for selling handmade items and craft supplies, taking its stock to a record high.
\n

\n
2. GameStop gets a boost
\n

\n

\n
GameStop's stock was flying high after Musk tweeted \"Gamestonk!!\", along with a link to Reddit's Wallstreetbets stock trading discussion group, members of which had piled into GameStop's soaring stock.
\n

\n
GameStop was already up over 600% when Musk weighed in on the rally as the group battled it out with institutional short-sellers.
\n

\n
3. The love-hate relationship with bitcoin
\n

\n
Elon Musk first tweeted that Tesla would accept payments via bitcoin, but less than two months later appeared to have changed his mind.
\n

\n
\"Both tweets affected markets, but also opened debate and caused controversy,\" said Jason Deane, chief bitcoin analyst at Quantum Economics.
\n

\n
\"The fact that he announced and reversed his decision so quickly because of 'environmental concerns' either indicated that he hadn’t done his research properly in the first place - which seems unlikely in Musk’s case - or was under pressure from outside parties to do so.\"
\n

\n
\"Perhaps this was the company board, perhaps it was due to the green subsidy arrangement he has in place with government bodies who disapproved of the announcement. At this stage, we can’t be sure, but the whole event was curious.\"
\n

\n
He also said that since Musk promised that he would accept bitcoin again when over 50% of the bitcoin network ran on renewable or clean energy, strides in new tech and a drive for efficiency has continued to reduce bitcoin’s carbon footprint .
\n

\n
\"Yet Musk has still reintroduced bitcoin payments. Clearly there are other factors.\"
\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n
4. The power of the doge
\n

\n
The SpaceX CEO sent dogecoin prices up 30% in May after tweeting that he was working with developers to improve the currency’s efficiency. He's often supported the crypto – he called \"the people's currency\" in October. This caused the joke token to surge more than 60%.
\n

\n

\n

\n
\"Musk has a social following that is many, many times larger than the readerships and viewerships of legacy media outlets... So of course he can move markets, especially when those markets are driven by meme-loving retail investors who are relatively inexperienced, think they don’t have much to lose, and are therefore willing to put their money into dogecoin and Shiba Inu without hesitation,\" Josh Goodbody, COO of Qredo, a network of digital asset custodian tools for financial institutions, told Yahoo Finance UK.
\n

\n
\"Indeed, there are politicians who would dream of having the level of power he has over the economy, but most don’t have Elon’s meme-wizardry — or, depending on the perspective of the viewer, trolling — skills\".
\n

\n
Meanwhile Deane said that his tweets about dogecoin have probably been the most controversial, \"in terms of directly promoting a joke cryptocurrency that will almost certainly result is many people getting financially wiped out, if it hasn’t already\".
\n

\n
5. In-flight entertainment
\n

\n

\n
In October, Musk tweeted he was in talks with airlines about installing Starlink, a satellite-based broadband service owned by SpaceX. Because of this, shares of rival in-flight internet provider Gogo (GOGO) fell.
\n

\n
6. Asking the people
\n

\n

\n
In November perhaps one of the most surprising tweets came from Musk, asking his followers if he should sell 10% of his Tesla stock. He went as far as to say: \"I will abide by the results of this poll, whichever way it goes.\"
\n

\n
After almost 58% of 3.5 million Twitter users voted yes, Tesla shares tumbled the most they had done in eight months.
\n

\n
Musk did in fact keep to his word and start selling his personal Tesla holdings.
\n

\n
\"Musk, along with so many leaders in business and politics, can circumvent the gatekeepers of old and build their own followings so as to make announcements about their company and/or government policies,\" said Adrian Kolody, the founder of Domination Finance, a non-custodial, decentralised exchange for dominance trading.
\n

\n
\"Musk is perhaps the best at this because he’s fun and controversial and, moreover, because he has more than 60 million followers. That’s roughly two times the population of Canada. So when he gets on Twitter, he has influence. GameStop gets a boost\n\n\nGameStop's stock was flying high after Musk tweeted \"Gamestonk!!\", along with a link to Reddit's Wallstreetbets stock trading discussion group, members of which had piled into GameStop's soaring stock.\n\nGameStop was already up over 600% when Musk weighed in on the rally as the group battled it out with institutional short-sellers.\n\n3. The love-hate relationship with bitcoin\n\nElon Musk first tweeted that Tesla would accept payments via bitcoin, but less than two months later appeared to have changed his mind.\n\n\"Both tweets affected markets, but also opened debate and caused controversy,\" said Jason Deane, chief bitcoin analyst at Quantum Economics.\n\n\"The fact that he announced and reversed his decision so quickly because of 'environmental concerns' either indicated that he hadn’t done his research properly in the first place - which seems unlikely in Musk’s case - or was under pressure from outside parties to do so.\"\n\n\"Perhaps this was the company board, perhaps it was due to the green subsidy arrangement he has in place with government bodies who disapproved of the announcement. At this stage, we can’t be sure, but the whole event was curious.\"\n\nHe also said that since Musk promised that he would accept bitcoin again when over 50% of the bitcoin network ran on renewable or clean energy, strides in new tech and a drive for efficiency has continued to reduce bitcoin’s carbon footprint .\n\n\"Yet Musk has still reintroduced bitcoin payments. Clearly there are other factors.\"\n\n\n\n\n\n4. The power of the doge\n\nThe SpaceX CEO sent dogecoin prices up 30% in May after tweeting that he was working with developers to improve the currency’s efficiency. He's often supported the crypto – he called \"the people's currency\" in October. This caused the joke token to surge more than 60%.\n\n\n\n\"Musk has a social following that is many, many times larger than the readerships and viewerships of legacy media outlets... So of course he can move markets, especially when those markets are driven by meme-loving retail investors who are relatively inexperienced, think they don’t have much to lose, and are therefore willing to put their money into dogecoin and Shiba Inu without hesitation,\" Josh Goodbody, COO of Qredo, a network of digital asset custodian tools for financial institutions, told Yahoo Finance UK.\n\n\"Indeed, there are politicians who would dream of having the level of power he has over the economy, but most don’t have Elon’s meme-wizardry — or, depending on the perspective of the viewer, trolling — skills\".\n\nMeanwhile Deane said that his tweets about dogecoin have probably been the most controversial, \"in terms of directly promoting a joke cryptocurrency that will almost certainly result is many people getting financially wiped out, if it hasn’t already\".\n\n5. In-flight entertainment\n\n\nIn October, Musk tweeted he was in talks with airlines about installing Starlink, a satellite-based broadband service owned by SpaceX. Because of this, shares of rival in-flight internet provider Gogo (GOGO) fell.\n\n6. Asking the people\n\n\nIn November perhaps one of the most surprising tweets came from Musk, asking his followers if he should sell 10% of his Tesla stock. He went as far as to say: \"I will abide by the results of this poll, whichever way it goes.\"\n\nAfter almost 58% of 3.5 million Twitter users voted yes, Tesla shares tumbled the most they had done in eight months.\n\nMusk did in fact keep to his word and start selling his personal Tesla holdings.\n\n\"Musk, along with so many leaders in business and politics, can circumvent the gatekeepers of old and build their own followings so as to make announcements about their company and/or government policies,\" said Adrian Kolody, the founder of Domination Finance, a non-custodial, decentralised exchange for dominance trading.\n\n\"Musk is perhaps the best at this because he’s fun and controversial and, moreover, because he has more than 60 million followers. That’s roughly two times the population of Canada. So when he gets on Twitter, he has influence. He is, after all, a memelord.\"","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":911,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":606743108,"gmtCreate":1638932182696,"gmtModify":1638932453113,"author":{"id":"4097974120293390","authorId":"4097974120293390","name":"Fattydimple","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c7884eb5575b6875140d35452f8df6d0","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4097974120293390","authorIdStr":"4097974120293390"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"It's only 2000+ shares. Prepare while you can.","content":"
The market will crash again. That is inevitable. The only real question is when will it happen?
\n
Let's be clear: there are lots of reasons to believe the market could crash soon. Skyrocketing inflation , stretched valuations , and a critical labor shortage each could pose risks to the market on their own. Put them all together in a situation like we have today, and the danger certainly seems to multiply.
\n
Just because the market could crash soon doesn't mean it will, however. If it somehow manages to keep climbing, would you really want to be sitting on the sidelines, watching the purchasing power of your money evaporate to inflation?
\n
That combination of factors makes now one of the toughest times in most of our investing lifetimes to know what the best course of action should be. That might actually mean that there is no single best path forward and that the right approach could be to build a balance across the five options discussed here.
\n
No. 1: Get out of (expensive) debt
\n
If the market's massive run has left you in the position where you could pay off your debts, maybe that provides a good opportunity to actually do so. If not your entire debt burden, perhaps you could pay off everything but your fixed-rate, low interest mortgage?
\n
It might seem crazy to pay off debt when interest rates are so low and the market has seen such huge recent rises, but that could very well be the best time to do so. After all, if interest rates rise, that could both increase your debt service costs and cause at least some of your stocks to drop, catching you with a double-whammy. When you add in the fact your debt service costs need to be paid even if your stocks are way down, you get a situation where reducing or eliminating debt looks like a smart move.
\n
No. 2: Build a cash buffer
\n
In a world where inflation is running over 6%, having a lot of cash sitting around earning less than 1% might seem crazy. When viewed only on that basis, it is. When you recognize that market crashes and job losses often go hand in hand, having a decent cash buffer can be viewed as an insurance policy. At least for a little while, it can keep you from being forced to sell at the low due to lost income and buy you time to find alternatives.
\n
That said, with inflation running as hot as it is and cash returns failing to keep up, it might not be a good idea to hold too much cash. As a result, consider the standard guidance of three-to-six months' worth of basic living expenses as a reasonable \"goldilocks\" target.
\n
No. 3: Plan for the big expenses coming your way soon
\n
As a general rule, money you expect to spend within the next five years does not belong in stocks. If you have a big purchase coming up in that time window -- say a new car, a child's college education, or a bucket list vacation -- a market sitting near all-time highs can give you a great opportunity to sell.
\n
It's OK to sell enough stock to cover the costs of what you're buying in that window and any taxes you'll owe on your stock sale. Then, put the remaining money in something like a CD or Treasury or investment grade bonds that mature just before you'll need the money.
\n
No, you won't make stupendously high returns on that money, but you will also sleep more soundly knowing that a mere market crash won't automatically derail your near-term plans for that cash.
\n
No. 4: Know a decent estimate of the value of what you own
\n
Ultimately, stocks are nothing more than fractional ownership stakes in companies. Yes, their market prices can rise or fall a whole bunch in a very short period of time, but in the long run, stocks are tied to the cash generating capability of the businesses behind those shares.
\n
Using the discounted cash flow model and reasonable projections for the future of the company, you can estimate what that fair value would be. You can easily adjust your assumptions for a more aggressive growth future or a more pessimistic one as well, to get a feel for a range of potential values. You can then compare your model with the market's price and use that to inform your buy, sell, or hold decisions.
\n
If a company you own is priced so high by the market that even your most aggressive estimates for its future can't keep up, then it might be a good idea to sell it. On the flip side, if a company you own is available for such a dirt cheap price that even your pessimistic estimate is above the market's price for it, you might want to consider buying even more.
\n
The beauty of the discounted cash flow model is that it can help you make those buy/sell/hold decisions regardless of what the overall market is doing. As a result, it can help you both prepare for a crash by figuring out which companies to consider selling and invest through a crash by figuring out which ones are the biggest bargains worthy of buying.
\n
No. 5: Invest with the long term in mind
\n
With the first three options, you've taken great steps to protect yourself against many of the short term disruptions that can come from market crashes. With the fourth option, you've given yourself a tool to make smarter investing decisions around the time of a crash. Together, they free you up to truly have a long-term perspective when you invest in stocks.
\n
That long-term perspective is important because it provides the foundation of the biggest advantage you have against Wall Street: your patience. With a long-term perspective, the rest of your financial house in order, and decent valuations at your disposal, you can stay invested during and after a crash. That is absolutely key to being invested during any subsequent recovery, which is where the next round of wealth can be built.
\n
Get ready now for the next crash
\n
None of us really know when the next stock market crash will happen, but we can be pretty sure that there will be another one headed our way. With the market near all-time highs and so many very clear economic risks in front of us, now could be a great time to make the adjustments you need to get prepared for that crash.
\n
By balancing the tools you need to survive the next crash with a long term perspective for the money you're able to keep invested, you can be prepared no matter when that crash takes place. Get yourself ready now, and you will have the advantage of being ready before it happens, rather than trying to clean up after the fact.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Is the Stock Market Going to Crash Again?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nIs the Stock Market Going to Crash Again?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-11-22 17:36 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
The market will crash again. Skyrocketing inflation , stretched valuations , and a critical labor shortage each could pose risks to the market on their own. Put them all together in a situation like we have today, and the danger certainly seems to multiply.\nJust because the market could crash soon doesn't mean it will, however. If it somehow manages to keep climbing, would you really want to be sitting on the sidelines, watching the purchasing power of your money evaporate to inflation?\nThat combination of factors makes now one of the toughest times in most of our investing lifetimes to know what the best course of action should be. That might actually mean that there is no single best path forward and that the right approach could be to build a balance across the five options discussed here.\nNo. 1: Get out of (expensive) debt\nIf the market's massive run has left you in the position where you could pay off your debts, maybe that provides a good opportunity to actually do so. If not your entire debt burden, perhaps you could pay off everything but your fixed-rate, low interest mortgage?\nIt might seem crazy to pay off debt when interest rates are so low and the market has seen such huge recent rises, but that could very well be the best time to do so. After all, if interest rates rise, that could both increase your debt service costs and cause at least some of your stocks to drop, catching you with a double-whammy. When you add in the fact your debt service costs need to be paid even if your stocks are way down, you get a situation where reducing or eliminating debt looks like a smart move.\nNo. 2: Build a cash buffer\nIn a world where inflation is running over 6%, having a lot of cash sitting around earning less than 1% might seem crazy. When viewed only on that basis, it is. When you recognize that market crashes and job losses often go hand in hand, having a decent cash buffer can be viewed as an insurance policy. At least for a little while, it can keep you from being forced to sell at the low due to lost income and buy you time to find alternatives.\nThat said, with inflation running as hot as it is and cash returns failing to keep up, it might not be a good idea to hold too much cash. As a result, consider the standard guidance of three-to-six months' worth of basic living expenses as a reasonable \"goldilocks\" target.\nNo. 3: Plan for the big expenses coming your way soon\nAs a general rule, money you expect to spend within the next five years does not belong in stocks. If you have a big purchase coming up in that time window -- say a new car, a child's college education, or a bucket list vacation -- a market sitting near all-time highs can give you a great opportunity to sell.\nIt's OK to sell enough stock to cover the costs of what you're buying in that window and any taxes you'll owe on your stock sale. Then, put the remaining money in something like a CD or Treasury or investment grade bonds that mature just before you'll need the money.\nNo, you won't make stupendously high returns on that money, but you will also sleep more soundly knowing that a mere market crash won't automatically derail your near-term plans for that cash.\nNo. 4: Know a decent estimate of the value of what you own\nUltimately, stocks are nothing more than fractional ownership stakes in companies. Yes, their market prices can rise or fall a whole bunch in a very short period of time, but in the long run, stocks are tied to the cash generating capability of the businesses behind those shares.\nUsing the discounted cash flow model and reasonable projections for the future of the company, you can estimate what that fair value would be. You can easily adjust your assumptions for a more aggressive growth future or a more pessimistic one as well, to get a feel for a range of potential values. You can then compare your model with the market's price and use that to inform your buy, sell, or hold decisions.\nIf a company you own is priced so high by the market that even your most aggressive estimates for its future can't keep up, then it might be a good idea to sell it. On the flip side, if a company you own is available for such a dirt cheap price that even your pessimistic estimate is above the market's price for it, you might want to consider buying even more.\nThe beauty of the discounted cash flow model is that it can help you make those buy/sell/hold decisions regardless of what the overall market is doing. As a result, it can help you both prepare for a crash by figuring out which companies to consider selling and invest through a crash by figuring out which ones are the biggest bargains worthy of buying.\nNo. 5: Invest with the long term in mind\nWith the first three options, you've taken great steps to protect yourself against many of the short term disruptions that can come from market crashes. With the fourth option, you've given yourself a tool to make smarter investing decisions around the time of a crash. Together, they free you up to truly have a long-term perspective when you invest in stocks.\nThat long-term perspective is important because it provides the foundation of the biggest advantage you have against Wall Street: your patience. With a long-term perspective, the rest of your financial house in order, and decent valuations at your disposal, you can stay invested during and after a crash. That is absolutely key to being invested during any subsequent recovery, which is where the next round of wealth can be built.\nGet ready now for the next crash\nNone of us really know when the next stock market crash will happen, but we can be pretty sure that there will be another one headed our way. With the market near all-time highs and so many very clear economic risks in front of us, now could be a great time to make the adjustments you need to get prepared for that crash.\nBy balancing the tools you need to survive the next crash with a long term perspective for the money you're able to keep invested, you can be prepared no matter when that crash takes place. Get yourself ready now, and you will have the advantage of being ready before it happens, rather than trying to clean up after the fact.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":450,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":876301900,"gmtCreate":1637255226587,"gmtModify":1637255226587,"author":{"id":"4097974120293390","authorId":"4097974120293390","name":"Fattydimple","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c7884eb5575b6875140d35452f8df6d0","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4097974120293390","authorIdStr":"4097974120293390"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/876301900","repostId":"1134370675","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1134370675","pubTimestamp":1637231436,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1134370675?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-11-18 18:30","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Forget Nvidia. Its innovations include a platform for generating artificially intelligent avatars, and a computer engine that will help train the deep neural networks that make up AI.
\n
Optimism over Nvidia and the metaverse has helped the stock surge in recent weeks, and that was set to continue Thursday after the company posted strong third-quarter earnings. CEO Jensen Huang didn’t skip an opportunity to talk about the company’s future in virtual worlds, outlining how “Omniverse brings together Nvidia’s expertise in AI, simulation, graphics and computing infrastructure.”
\n
“This is the tip of the iceberg of what’s to come,” Huang said in a statement with the company’s earnings Wednesday.
\n
Virtual worlds have never been more real. And while investors inclined to get ahead of the trend may be looking immediately at the high-tech stocks powering the future of the metaverse, the opportunities are in fact far more diverse.
\n
The luxury sector is one of them.
\n
Digital assets could constitute 10% of the addressable market in luxury goods by 2030, representing a €50 billion ($57 billion) revenue opportunity and increasing industry earnings by up to 25%, according to new research from Morgan Stanley.
\n
“Today, people spend more time interacting with their friends on social media and in gaming platforms than in real life in the developed world,” said the team at the bank, led by Edward Stanley, Edouard Aubin, and Elena Mariani. “As more aspects of people’s lives move to the internet, demand for digital fashion and luxury goods is set to increase dramatically in the coming years,” the team added.
\n
There are fundamentally two different branches of metaverse opportunities for luxury companies.
\n
The first is in gaming—particularly videogames that are social and have a lot of emphasis on player image. Allowing users to pay to add luxury products to their online avatar, including through revenue-sharing agreements with developers, is on the rise, according to Morgan Stanley. Tangential to games are online events, such as music festivals, which have the potential to reach a massive audience of young consumers. Along with luxury brands, beneficiaries of the events trend include the likes of Universal Music Group (UMS.Netherlands).
\n
The second metaverse opportunity is in nonfungible tokens (NFTs), which are tokenized versions of digital media that are hosted, and traded, on the blockchain—the decentralized ledger technology underpinning cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ether.Luxury companies can sell exclusive versions of their digital products for a hefty price tag: Dolce & Gabbana sold nine NFTs for $5.7 million, according to the bank’s research. NFTs are only growing in popularity.
\n
Each addressable market should contribute a similar sales boost to the luxury sector in a bull case, according to Morgan Stanley, but NFTs are likely to be more profitable.
\n
“While gaming collaborations are, we argue, more advanced in their ability to generate revenue and a wider halo effect for the industry, NFTs present a more material EBIT upside opportunity over the remainder of the decade,” said the team at the bank. Gaming collaborations could constitute 40% of metaverse revenue by 2030, but only 20% of profits.
\n
While revenue from digital mediums remains negligible for luxury brands, the opportunities are only increasing, according to Morgan Stanley. While the metaverse will take years to develop, and there remain risks to its long-term future, social gaming and NFTs are near-term plays.
\n
The whole luxury sector is likely to benefit from these trends, but some companies are better positioned than others. It’s the best-placed given the brands’ demographic, as well as the company’s head start in innovative digital collaborations, according to the bank.
\n
Balenciaga, for instance, has a new partnership for in-game merchandise in the online game Fortnite. ETF surfing the momentum of financial markets has just been hit by a near-$520 million outflow ahead of a major rebalancing of the quant strategy this month.
\n
Investors on Wednesday pulled the most cash since July from the iShares MSCI USA Momentum Factor exchange-traded fund (ticker MTUM), according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
\n
Wall Street analysts project that another significant makeover is on the way for the $16.4 billion fund within the next two weeks, so that it buys recent stock-market winners and dumps the losers.
\n
At the last semi-annual rebalance in May, an estimated 68% of holdings were changed to align with its trend-following goals.
\n
“Investors are getting ahead of the pending rebalance,” said Todd Rosenbluth, head of ETF and mutual fund research at CFRA. “That is likely to result in the ETF reducing exposure to industrials stocks and adding stakes in energy and real estate companies that have demonstrated relative strength in 2021.”
\n
Momentum strategies have been a hot topic on Wall Street lately after a period of improving performance, with a market-neutral version of the strategy up about 11% since June. MTUM hit a record this month following a 9% jump in October, its best month in almost a year.
\n
MTUM is part of a breed of ETFs known as smart-beta funds, a $1.6 trillion industry whose philosophy is mostly to pick stocks by some quantifiable characteristic.
\n
The ETF tracks an MSCI Inc. index that ranks stocks by their returns over a six month- and one-year horizon, and rebalances semiannually -- less frequent than most factor quants. ETF surfing the momentum of financial markets has just been hit by a near-$520 million outflow ahead of a major rebalancing of the quant strategy this month.\nInvestors on Wednesday pulled the most cash since July from the iShares MSCI USA Momentum Factor exchange-traded fund (ticker MTUM), according to data compiled by Bloomberg.\nWall Street analysts project that another significant makeover is on the way for the $16.4 billion fund within the next two weeks, so that it buys recent stock-market winners and dumps the losers.\nAt the last semi-annual rebalance in May, an estimated 68% of holdings were changed to align with its trend-following goals.\n“Investors are getting ahead of the pending rebalance,” said Todd Rosenbluth, head of ETF and mutual fund research at CFRA. “That is likely to result in the ETF reducing exposure to industrials stocks and adding stakes in energy and real estate companies that have demonstrated relative strength in 2021.”\nMomentum strategies have been a hot topic on Wall Street lately after a period of improving performance, with a market-neutral version of the strategy up about 11% since June. MTUM hit a record this month following a 9% jump in October, its best month in almost a year.\nMTUM is part of a breed of ETFs known as smart-beta funds, a $1.6 trillion industry whose philosophy is mostly to pick stocks by some quantifiable characteristic.\nThe ETF tracks an MSCI Inc. index that ranks stocks by their returns over a six month- and one-year horizon, and rebalances semiannually -- less frequent than most factor quants. In fast-moving, post-pandemic markets, a lot can happen between adjustments.\nThe May rebalance saw it switch into financial stocks and ditch big tech. A period of underperformance followed before the ETF bounced back to a record.\nBerkshire Hathaway Inc., Walt Disney Co. and PayPal Holdings are among stocks at risk of being dumped by the ETF, Rosenbluth wrote in a report this month. ConocoPhillips and Exxon Mobil Corp. are among potential additions, he said.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":287,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":879688822,"gmtCreate":1636716981336,"gmtModify":1636717220073,"author":{"id":"4097974120293390","authorId":"4097974120293390","name":"Fattydimple","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c7884eb5575b6875140d35452f8df6d0","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4097974120293390","authorIdStr":"4097974120293390"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Everyone including me is just commenting nonsense to earn the 10 Tiger coins. The leader of the electric vehicle (EV) race has finally regained the momentum that it lost early in December. Indeed, Tesla stock has been rising all week with only minimal downticks. Despite the growing number of analyst reports that predict a year of slower growth for the EV sector, recent developments have helped push Tesla stock back onto the road. Most recently, the company announced a new deal that promises to help streamline battery production.
\n
The Latest Driver of TSLA Stock
\n
It’s well known that battery production has posed many complications for the fast-growing EV sector. Today brought a significant step for Tesla as the company announced a deal with Australian graphite miner Syrah Resources(OTCMKTS:SYAAF). Syrah Resources will supply Tesla with its battery-ready graphite processed at its U.S. facility in Louisiana. Tesla stock isn’t the only one that has reacted well to this news.
\n
Both stocks are rising today, with Tesla stock shooting straight up by 5.76% and the small cap Syrah rising by an astounding 83.14% today. While Tesla’s gains are nowhere near as high as that of its new partner, investors should see this news for the bigger picture. A giant of industry has taken a step that will put it significantly ahead of its competitors. Indeed, this should help Tesla in its quest to conquer one of the challenges it has faced throughout recent years.
\n
It’s clear that investors see this deal as being quite beneficial to both companies, and they are not wrong. For a little-known mining company, the chance to partner with the EV leader likely means a ride to the top. This is especially true as Tesla streamlines its battery production process.
\n
Equally important is the fact that Tesla’s decision comes not a moment too soon. Two days ago,Electrek reported that not only was a global graphite deficit looming, it was predicted to start as early as 2022. The material is critical in the production of EV batteries. However, 84% of its global supply is currently from China.
\n
Tesla’s new partnership will enable it to remain well supplied throughout a difficult time.
\n
The EV sector may be in for slower growth in 2022, but that doesn’t mean companies won’t take steps to advance and prioritize innovative measures. Tesla is doing exactly that. Furthermore, this partnership will help secure its position of power for years to come as the graphite deficit takes shape.
\n
Moves like this should inspire investor confidence as Wall Street prepares for a less profitable year from EV stocks across the board. Tesla stock has seen its share of turbulence. However, the company is doing everything it can to prevent such patterns from repeating in 2022.
","source":"lsy1606302653667","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Tesla Stock Will Take Off in 2022 Thanks to a New Battery Deal
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nTesla Stock Will Take Off in 2022 Thanks to a New Battery Deal\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-12-24 11:07 GMT+8 InvestorPlace\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
It’s been a tough month, but as the holidays rapidly approach,Tesla(NASDAQ:TSLA) is poised to deliver the gift of high returns to its investors. While Tesla’s gains are nowhere near as high as that of its new partner, investors should see this news for the bigger picture. A giant of industry has taken a step that will put it significantly ahead of its competitors. Indeed, this should help Tesla in its quest to conquer one of the challenges it has faced throughout recent years.\nIt’s clear that investors see this deal as being quite beneficial to both companies, and they are not wrong. For a little-known mining company, the chance to partner with the EV leader likely means a ride to the top. This is especially true as Tesla streamlines its battery production process.\nEqually important is the fact that Tesla’s decision comes not a moment too soon. Two days ago,Electrek reported that not only was a global graphite deficit looming, it was predicted to start as early as 2022. The material is critical in the production of EV batteries. However, 84% of its global supply is currently from China.\nTesla’s new partnership will enable it to remain well supplied throughout a difficult time.\nThe EV sector may be in for slower growth in 2022, but that doesn’t mean companies won’t take steps to advance and prioritize innovative measures. Tesla is doing exactly that. Furthermore, this partnership will help secure its position of power for years to come as the graphite deficit takes shape.\nMoves like this should inspire investor confidence as Wall Street prepares for a less profitable year from EV stocks across the board. Tesla stock has seen its share of turbulence. However, the company is doing everything it can to prevent such patterns from repeating in 2022.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":908,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":699963874,"gmtCreate":1639736344895,"gmtModify":1639736344895,"author":{"id":"4097974120293390","authorId":"4097974120293390","name":"Fattydimple","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c7884eb5575b6875140d35452f8df6d0","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4097974120293390","authorIdStr":"4097974120293390"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"So why did he leave?
That is inevitable. The only real question is when will it happen?\nLet's be clear: there are lots of reasons to believe the market could crash soon. Get yourself ready now, and you will have the advantage of being ready before it happens, rather than trying to clean up after the fact.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":450,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":638783647,"gmtCreate":1645528379339,"gmtModify":1645528496374,"author":{"id":"4097974120293390","authorId":"4097974120293390","name":"Fattydimple","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c7884eb5575b6875140d35452f8df6d0","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4097974120293390","authorIdStr":"4097974120293390"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Please recover soon","listText":"Please recover soon","text":"Please recover soon","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/638783647","repostId":"1190812653","repostType":2,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1047,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":691480905,"gmtCreate":1640227364308,"gmtModify":1640227364379,"author":{"id":"4097974120293390","authorId":"4097974120293390","name":"Fattydimple","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c7884eb5575b6875140d35452f8df6d0","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4097974120293390","authorIdStr":"4097974120293390"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Tesla to the moon!","listText":"Tesla to the moon!","text":"Tesla to the moon!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/691480905","repostId":"1173043963","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1173043963","pubTimestamp":1640225262,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1173043963?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-12-23 10:07","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Why Nio Shares Dropped Again Today","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1173043963","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Chinese electric vehicle maker Nioheld its annual Nio Day event last weekend where it unveiled its latest new electric sedan.
