But all have struggled recently -- as has Tesla (TSLA) itself.
\n
Lucid, which started trading on the Nasdaq in July after a SPAC deal, had its share of good news: Its first car, the Lucid Air, won MotorTrend Car of the Year honors and was certified as having a range of 520 miles on a single charge, the longest of any EV. But company has also disclosed it faces subpoenas from the Securities and Exchange Commission about some of its claims and the SPAC deal, and shares are down from a November 16 peak.
\n
Electric truck maker Rivian had a huge hit with its November IPO, and it also won MotorTrend Truck of the Year honors. Rivian won the race to be the first all-electric pickup to reach market. Shares shot up 29% from the IPO price on its first day of trading, and gained another 71% over the next week.
\n
Rivian was briefly the third-most-valuable automaker on the planet, behind only Tesla and Toyota, despite having yet to report any sales when it went public. When it finally reported its first sales on December 16 they fell short of expectations, and the company cited the same chip and parts shortages dogging the rest of the auto industry. Shares closed Thursday down 44% from that pre-report high, and the sales report proved to be a headwind for Lucid shares as well.
\n
Even Tesla, which earlier this year became only the sixth company to reach a $1 trillion market value, has encountered recent troubles. Shares sank as much as 27% from an all-time high set on November 4 through Tuesday -- before a late-week rally lifted it back above the $1 trillion mark. Still, it is trading 13% below its all-time peak.
\n
Part of the recent problem for EV stocks is the apparent demise of the Biden administration's Build Back Better bill, which had a number of goodies for the EV industry, including enhanced tax credits for buyers that would have allowed automakers to charge more for the vehicles. The concern is that even if consumer preferences and tougher environment rules are about to create a massive shift from gasoline-powered vehicles to electrics, stand-alone EV companies won't necessarily win the battle.
\n
\"There are going to be losers in the battle for EV market share,\" said Ives. \"Rivian coming out of gate with a delivery short fall, that couldn't have come at a worst time. The S&P 500 index popped 3.8%. The Nasdaq composite gained 3.6%. Apple stock and Microsoft are Dow Jones, S&P 500 and Nasdaq components.
\n

\n
The small-cap Russell 2000 advanced 2.4%.
\n

\n
The 10-year Treasury yield rose 15 basis points to 1.49%.
\n

\n
Among the best ETFs, the Innovator IBD 50 ETF (FFTY) climbed 1.9%, while the Innovator IBD Breakout Opportunities ETF (BOUT) gained 3.5%. The iShares Expanded Tech-Software Sector ETF (IGV) rallied 4%, with Microsoft and Adobe stock major holdings. The VanEck Vectors Semiconductor ETF (SMH) added 2.5%. AMD stock and NXP Semi are SMH components.
\n

\n
SPDR S&P Metals & Mining ETF (XME) rose 3.7% and Global X U.S. Infrastructure Development ETF (PAVE) 3.5%. U.S. Global Jets ETF (JETS) jumped 5%, but with some big swings along the way. SPDR S&P Homebuilders ETF (XHB) advanced 4.5% to new highs. The Energy Select SPDR ETF (XLE) climbed 3.7% and the Financial Select SPDR ETF (XLF) 2.7%
\n

\n
Reflecting more-speculative story stocks, ARK Innovation ETF (ARKK) gained 2.8% for the week and ARK Genomics ETF (ARKG) 4%, rebounding from 52-week lows. But both gave up much of their weekly gains on Thursday and Friday. Tesla stock remains the top holding of ARK Invest's ETFs.
\n

\n
Apple Stock
\n
Apple stock surged 10.9% last week to 179.45, and 19.6% over the last four weeks. At $2.94 trillion, AAPL stock is on the cusp of a $3 trillion market cap. But shares are well extended from a buy point. At some point, AAPL stock will take an extended rest. That could offer a new chance to buy or add shares. But can the market rally without Apple stock leading?
\n

\n

\n
Microsoft Stock
\n
MSFT stock hasn't risen as fast as Apple. But unlike its fellow Dow Jones titan, Microsoft stock has been a market leader for most of 2021 — and has stronger growth prospects. Microsoft stock jumped just over 6% last week to 342.54, including Friday's 2.8% pop. Breaking short-term trend lines and still close to its 10-week line, MSFT stock is flashing buy signals. But market conditions raise concerns.
\n

\n
AMD Stock
\n
AMD stock did rebound Tuesday, but otherwise had a difficult week, retreating 3.8% to 138.55. Shares are moving back toward their 10-week line. That could provide a buying opportunity, assuming AMD stock bounces. If AMD stock struggles at that level, it would be a bad sign for rival Nvidia (NVDA), which has held up better in recent weeks, and chip stocks overall.
\n

\n

\n
NXP Stock
\n
NXP Semiconductor stock whipsawed last week, breaking out powerfully on Tuesday but pulling back below the 227.60 cup-with-handle buy point on a Wednesday sell rating. Since then NXP stock has been trading just above the 21-day line and below the buy point. Shares dipped 0.3% to 226.46 for the week. If there's a confirmed market rally, there's a good chance the auto- and wireless-chip maker will clear the buy point decisively. But if the market reverses, NXP very likely will fall back.
\n

\n

\n
Adobe Stock
\n
Adobe stock rebounded 6.15% last week to 654.45, trading just above its 50-day line and below an old 659.29 buy point that's no longer valid. Investors could buy this Long-Term Leader off the 50-day line, but probably should wait until earnings on Thursday. It'll be an important report for business software makers generally, which are trying to rebound after big sell-offs.
\n

\n

\n
Tesla Stock
\n
Tesla stock edged up 0.2% to 1,017.03 last week, but it was another wild ride. Shares tumbled below their 50-day line and recent lows on Monday but closed above that key level. A midweek rebound hit resistance at the 21-day line. Then, like a lot of growth stocks, TSLA stock sold off Thursday, before a slight bounce on Friday.
\n

\n
The EV giant is working on a new base, though that needs another week to form, with a likely 1,202.05 buy point. Drawing a trend line from the record high could offer an early entry around 1,150.
\n

\n
If Tesla can rebound decisively, that would likely reflect on, and spur gains among, other EV plays as well as highly valued growth stocks generally. That's key, given how narrow the market leadership has been.
\n

\n
But a sharp sell-off, including a clear close below recent lows, would be a negative sign for TSLA stock and the market. It would put the 900.50 buy point from the long cup consolidation at risk.
\n

\n

\n
Rivian Stock
\n
Rivian stock came out like a lion, racing from a $75 IPO price on Nov. 9 to a 179.47 intraday peak in just five sessions. But since then the EV startup has tumbled back, starting to consolidate, generally between 100-120. Shares rallied 9.5% to 114.66 last week.
\n

\n
Rivian reports earnings on Thursday for the first time since its IPO. With only minimal deliveries of its R1T EV pickup, Rivian revenue will remain low with hefty losses. So investors will be looking for guidance on a production ramp for the R1T and when the R1S SUV will debut as well as mass production of delivery vans for Amazon.com (AMZN), a key Rivian investor.
\n

\n
Rivian will announce a new vehicle-assembly and battery plant in Georgia, Bloomberg News reported Friday evening, citing sources. That followed local reports along those lines. The announcement will likely come Thursday, the same day as earnings.
\n

\n
Rivian already has a factory in Normal, Illinois.
\n

\n
But there is no question that RIVN stock is highly speculative. If Rivian stock rebounds, especially after earnings, it will soon have a deep IPO base with a 179.57 buy point. Investors may want to look for earlier entries, perhaps in the 120-125 area.
\n

\n

\n
Even with its big retreat, Rivian stock has a market cap of $102 billion, higher than General Motors (GM) ($91.8 billion) and Ford Motor (F) ($86 billion). Ford owns a hefty stake of Rivian as well, and surged to a long-term high on Friday.
\n

\n
The Rivian valuation is positive for Tesla stock. If Rivian stock can have a valuation north of $100 billion with just a handful of deliveries, that certainly justifies Tesla's $1 trillion valuation as the company has topped a 1 million delivery run rate.
\n

\n
Market Rally Analysis
\n
A new stock market rally attempt got underway this past week with strong gains, but then paused late in the week. That's not that unusual. In early October, the major indexes rebounded for three days, then pulled back slightly over the next three sessions before beginning its decisive move higher.
\n

\n
The market performed fairly well on Friday given the hot inflation data and the prospect of a faster Fed taper. And for the week, all the major indexes had strong gains, regaining their 50-day lines and closing in the upper third of their ranges. The S&P 500 index moved to an all-time closing high on Friday.
\n

\n
However, much of the market rally's strength has been in Apple, Microsoft and Google, the three most valuable stocks.
\n

\n
The Russell 2000 had a solid percentage gain for the week, though it fell back below its 200-day line on Thursday and edged lower on Friday as the big-cap indexes powered higher. The small-cap index closed just below the midpoint of its weekly range.
\n

\n
The action of growth stocks was mixed, with the FFTY ETF also unable to hold its 200-day line.
\n

\n

\n
Losers outpaced winners once again on Friday, continuing a weekslong trend with only a few exceptions. New lows outnumbered new highs, especially on the Nasdaq.
\n

\n
Ultimately, the stock market rally attempt still needs a follow-through day. Until there is a confirmed uptrend — or the major indexes undercut recent lows — the market direction is in flux.
\n

\n
It's possible that the Fed meeting announcement could be a catalyst for a confirmed market rally or a renewed sell-off. But a decisive move may come before the Fed meeting, or not at all.
\n

\n
Keep in mind that confirmed market rallies don't always work. If market breadth remains narrow, making gains could be difficult even as the major indexes advance.
\n

\n
What To Do Now
\n
Early last week, aggressive traders might have nibbled on a few stocks. The market was moving higher, with at least a short-term bounce likely. But the market has now had its bounce.
\n

\n
At this point, investors should likely hold off on new buys until there is a confirmed market rally.
\n

\n
But it's a crucial time for being prepared. Run your screens and work on your watchlists, identifying key potential buys if market conditions are ripe.
\n

\n
Then stay engaged. Be ready to act if there is a confirmed market rally — or if the major indexes and leading stocks deteriorate.
","source":"lsy1610612141385","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Dow Jones Futures Rise With Fed Set To Speed Up Inflation Fight; Apple, Tesla, Rivian In Focus
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nDow Jones Futures Rise With Fed Set To Speed Up Inflation Fight; Apple, Tesla, Rivian In Focus\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-12-13 11:05 GMT+8 investor's business daily\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Dow Jones futures rise modestly Sunday night, along with S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq futures, as a key Fed meeting looms this week. The Energy Select SPDR ETF (XLE) climbed 3.7% and the Financial Select SPDR ETF (XLF) 2.7%\n\nReflecting more-speculative story stocks, ARK Innovation ETF (ARKK) gained 2.8% for the week and ARK Genomics ETF (ARKG) 4%, rebounding from 52-week lows. But both gave up much of their weekly gains on Thursday and Friday. Tesla stock remains the top holding of ARK Invest's ETFs.\n\nApple Stock\nApple stock surged 10.9% last week to 179.45, and 19.6% over the last four weeks. At $2.94 trillion, AAPL stock is on the cusp of a $3 trillion market cap. But shares are well extended from a buy point. At some point, AAPL stock will take an extended rest. That could offer a new chance to buy or add shares. But can the market rally without Apple stock leading?\n\n\nMicrosoft Stock\nMSFT stock hasn't risen as fast as Apple. But market conditions raise concerns.\n\nAMD Stock\nAMD stock did rebound Tuesday, but otherwise had a difficult week, retreating 3.8% to 138.55. Shares are moving back toward their 10-week line. That could provide a buying opportunity, assuming AMD stock bounces. If AMD stock struggles at that level, it would be a bad sign for rival Nvidia (NVDA), which has held up better in recent weeks, and chip stocks overall.\n\n\nNXP Stock\nNXP Semiconductor stock whipsawed last week, breaking out powerfully on Tuesday but pulling back below the 227.60 cup-with-handle buy point on a Wednesday sell rating. Since then NXP stock has been trading just above the 21-day line and below the buy point. Shares dipped 0.3% to 226.46 for the week. If there's a confirmed market rally, there's a good chance the auto- and wireless-chip maker will clear the buy point decisively. But if the market reverses, NXP very likely will fall back.\n\n\nAdobe Stock\nAdobe stock rebounded 6.15% last week to 654.45, trading just above its 50-day line and below an old 659.29 buy point that's no longer valid. Investors could buy this Long-Term Leader off the 50-day line, but probably should wait until earnings on Thursday. It'll be an important report for business software makers generally, which are trying to rebound after big sell-offs.\n\n\nTesla Stock\nTesla stock edged up 0.2% to 1,017.03 last week, but it was another wild ride. Shares tumbled below their 50-day line and recent lows on Monday but closed above that key level. A midweek rebound hit resistance at the 21-day line. Then, like a lot of growth stocks, TSLA stock sold off Thursday, before a slight bounce on Friday.\n\nThe EV giant is working on a new base, though that needs another week to form, with a likely 1,202.05 buy point. Drawing a trend line from the record high could offer an early entry around 1,150.\n\nIf Tesla can rebound decisively, that would likely reflect on, and spur gains among, other EV plays as well as highly valued growth stocks generally. That's key, given how narrow the market leadership has been.\n\nBut a sharp sell-off, including a clear close below recent lows, would be a negative sign for TSLA stock and the market. It would put the 900.50 buy point from the long cup consolidation at risk.\n\n\nRivian Stock\nRivian stock came out like a lion, racing from a $75 IPO price on Nov. 9 to a 179.47 intraday peak in just five sessions. But since then the EV startup has tumbled back, starting to consolidate, generally between 100-120. Shares rallied 9.5% to 114.66 last week.\n\nRivian reports earnings on Thursday for the first time since its IPO. With only minimal deliveries of its R1T EV pickup, Rivian revenue will remain low with hefty losses. So investors will be looking for guidance on a production ramp for the R1T and when the R1S SUV will debut as well as mass production of delivery vans for Amazon.com (AMZN), a key Rivian investor.\n\nRivian will announce a new vehicle-assembly and battery plant in Georgia, Bloomberg News reported Friday evening, citing sources. That followed local reports along those lines. The announcement will likely come Thursday, the same day as earnings.\n\nRivian already has a factory in Normal, Illinois.\n\nBut there is no question that RIVN stock is highly speculative. If Rivian stock rebounds, especially after earnings, it will soon have a deep IPO base with a 179.57 buy point. Investors may want to look for earlier entries, perhaps in the 120-125 area.\n\n\nEven with its big retreat, Rivian stock has a market cap of $102 billion, higher than General Motors (GM) ($91.8 billion) and Ford Motor (F) ($86 billion). Ford owns a hefty stake of Rivian as well, and surged to a long-term high on Friday.\n\nThe Rivian valuation is positive for Tesla stock. If Rivian stock can have a valuation north of $100 billion with just a handful of deliveries, that certainly justifies Tesla's $1 trillion valuation as the company has topped a 1 million delivery run rate.\n\nMarket Rally Analysis\nA new stock market rally attempt got underway this past week with strong gains, but then paused late in the week. That's not that unusual. In early October, the major indexes rebounded for three days, then pulled back slightly over the next three sessions before beginning its decisive move higher.\n\nThe market performed fairly well on Friday given the hot inflation data and the prospect of a faster Fed taper. And for the week, all the major indexes had strong gains, regaining their 50-day lines and closing in the upper third of their ranges. The S&P 500 index moved to an all-time closing high on Friday.\n\nHowever, much of the market rally's strength has been in Apple, Microsoft and Google, the three most valuable stocks.\n\nThe Russell 2000 had a solid percentage gain for the week, though it fell back below its 200-day line on Thursday and edged lower on Friday as the big-cap indexes powered higher. The small-cap index closed just below the midpoint of its weekly range.\n\nThe action of growth stocks was mixed, with the FFTY ETF also unable to hold its 200-day line.\n\n\nLosers outpaced winners once again on Friday, continuing a weekslong trend with only a few exceptions. New lows outnumbered new highs, especially on the Nasdaq.\n\nUltimately, the stock market rally attempt still needs a follow-through day. Until there is a confirmed uptrend — or the major indexes undercut recent lows — the market direction is in flux.\n\nIt's possible that the Fed meeting announcement could be a catalyst for a confirmed market rally or a renewed sell-off. But a decisive move may come before the Fed meeting, or not at all.\n\nKeep in mind that confirmed market rallies don't always work. If market breadth remains narrow, making gains could be difficult even as the major indexes advance.\n\nWhat To Do Now\nEarly last week, aggressive traders might have nibbled on a few stocks. The market was moving higher, with at least a short-term bounce likely. But the market has now had its bounce.\n\nAt this point, investors should likely hold off on new buys until there is a confirmed market rally.\n\nBut it's a crucial time for being prepared. Run your screens and work on your watchlists, identifying key potential buys if market conditions are ripe.\n\nThen stay engaged. Be ready to act if there is a confirmed market rally — or if the major indexes and leading stocks deteriorate.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":651,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":604617925,"gmtCreate":1639386428681,"gmtModify":1639386479719,"author":{"id":"4092135943477500","authorId":"4092135943477500","name":"Trillion","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a19127fe186fdb035e3fd7836eaa07ab","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4092135943477500","authorIdStr":"4092135943477500"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/604617925","repostId":"1171394291","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1171394291","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1639366890,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1171394291?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-12-13 11:41","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Apple's $3 trillion market cap to be a 'watershed moment' for company","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1171394291","media":"Seeking Alpha","summary":"As many companies begin to gear down for the Christmas and New Year holidays, there remains one tech","content":"
As many companies begin to gear down for the Christmas and New Year holidays, there remains one tech stalwart that is on the brink of a milestone that no other company in history has achieved: Apple.
\n
Justin Sullivan/Getty Images News
\n
The most-iconic of all tech companies stands a good chance of reaching $3 trillion in market capitalization this week.
Build Back Better also includes money for a network of rapid charging stations, which would have answered potential EV buyers' concerns about running out of juice while on the road.
\n
\"That was a gut punch to the EV bulls,\" said Dan Ives, tech analyst for Wedbush Securities. \"For incremental demand in 2022 and beyond, the EVs tax credits is a 15% swing factor in demand.\"
\n
But much of the decline in EV stocks took place before Sen. Joe Manchin said last week he couldn't support the legislation, throwing its future in severe doubt.
\n
Much of the dip is due to continued announcements from established automakers such as Volkswagen, Toyota, Ford and GM about additional investment plans in EVs.
It's a dark cloud on the pure play EV makers. And investors have a lot less patience with any execution missteps.\"
\n
Tesla has grown to the point where it is profitable and large enough to grow even in the face of increased competition from the established automakers. It projects sales growth of 50% or better this year and beyond. But all have struggled recently -- as has Tesla (TSLA) itself.\nLucid, which started trading on the Nasdaq in July after a SPAC deal, had its share of good news: Its first car, the Lucid Air, won MotorTrend Car of the Year honors and was certified as having a range of 520 miles on a single charge, the longest of any EV. But company has also disclosed it faces subpoenas from the Securities and Exchange Commission about some of its claims and the SPAC deal, and shares are down from a November 16 peak.\nElectric truck maker Rivian had a huge hit with its November IPO, and it also won MotorTrend Truck of the Year honors. Rivian won the race to be the first all-electric pickup to reach market. Shares shot up 29% from the IPO price on its first day of trading, and gained another 71% over the next week.\nRivian was briefly the third-most-valuable automaker on the planet, behind only Tesla and Toyota, despite having yet to report any sales when it went public. When it finally reported its first sales on December 16 they fell short of expectations, and the company cited the same chip and parts shortages dogging the rest of the auto industry. Shares closed Thursday down 44% from that pre-report high, and the sales report proved to be a headwind for Lucid shares as well.\nEven Tesla, which earlier this year became only the sixth company to reach a $1 trillion market value, has encountered recent troubles. Shares sank as much as 27% from an all-time high set on November 4 through Tuesday -- before a late-week rally lifted it back above the $1 trillion mark. Still, it is trading 13% below its all-time peak.\nPart of the recent problem for EV stocks is the apparent demise of the Biden administration's Build Back Better bill, which had a number of goodies for the EV industry, including enhanced tax credits for buyers that would have allowed automakers to charge more for the vehicles. Build Back Better also includes money for a network of rapid charging stations, which would have answered potential EV buyers' concerns about running out of juice while on the road.\n\"That was a gut punch to the EV bulls,\" said Dan Ives, tech analyst for Wedbush Securities. \"For incremental demand in 2022 and beyond, the EVs tax credits is a 15% swing factor in demand.\"\nBut much of the decline in EV stocks took place before Sen. Joe Manchin said last week he couldn't support the legislation, throwing its future in severe doubt.\nMuch of the dip is due to continued announcements from established automakers such as Volkswagen, Toyota, Ford and GM about additional investment plans in EVs. The concern is that even if consumer preferences and tougher environment rules are about to create a massive shift from gasoline-powered vehicles to electrics, stand-alone EV companies won't necessarily win the battle.\n\"There are going to be losers in the battle for EV market share,\" said Ives. \"Rivian coming out of gate with a delivery short fall, that couldn't have come at a worst time. It's a dark cloud on the pure play EV makers. And investors have a lot less patience with any execution missteps.\"\nTesla has grown to the point where it is profitable and large enough to grow even in the face of increased competition from the established automakers. It projects sales growth of 50% or better this year and beyond. And the stock has mostly bucked the declines in the sector, rising 51% so far this year.\nAlthough that is only a fraction of the 743% gain Tesla stock achieved in 2020, it's better than most of the established automakers other than Ford, whose shares are up 131% this year after posting significant gains in its own EV efforts.\nThe two most troubled EV stocks -- Nikola and Lordstown Motors -- lost 27% and 80% of their value, respectively, through Thursday's close, although Nikola's stock surged 18% Thursday after announcing it had finally made its first truck delivery.\nBut earlier in the week, Nikola agreed to pay a $125 million fine to settle charges Trevor Milton, its founder and former CEO, deceived investors. Milton was forced to resign in September 2020 after questions about company's claims first surfaced. He now faces federal criminal charges.\nThe founder and CEO of Lordstown was also forced to resign, and the company has expressed doubts that it can remain in business.\nThe trouble those companies had living up to their early promises means companies like Lucid and Rivian will have to do more to prove themselves before they will be fully embraced by investors, Ives said.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":576,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":841659378,"gmtCreate":1635908845067,"gmtModify":1635908845067,"author":{"id":"4092135943477500","authorId":"4092135943477500","name":"Trillion","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a19127fe186fdb035e3fd7836eaa07ab","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4092135943477500","authorIdStr":"4092135943477500"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Noted","listText":"Noted","text":"Noted","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":8,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/841659378","repostId":"1129400623","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1129400623","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1635907079,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1129400623?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-11-03 10:37","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Sea Limited Sponsored ADR (SE) Outpaces Stock Market Gains: What You Should Know","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1129400623","media":"Zacks","summary":"Sea Limited Sponsored ADR (SE) closed the most recent trading day at $360.23, moving +1.75% from the","content":"
Sea Limited Sponsored ADR (SE) closed the most recent trading day at $360.23, moving +1.75% from the previous trading session. Now that the company has completed its initial public offering (IPO), RIVN stock is available for public trading and you can try out the shares of this ambitious electric vehicle (EV) start-up.
\n
Rivian specializes in big vehicles, especially trucks and SUVs. Large vehicles can be cruelty-free, as the interiors of Rivian’s vehicles are made from 100% animal-free materials.
\n
Not only that, but Rivian’s battery packs are designed to be easily removed from the vehicles and can either be recycled or used in “second- life” applications such as stationary storage.
\n
The uniqueness of Rivian’s vehicles has created some buzz among investors; there may have been too much buzz. Prospective shareholders need to exercise caution, as whatever goes up too fast in the market is liable to come down at the worst possible time.
\n
A Closer Look at RIVN Stock
\n
A surprising thing happened with RIVN stock. After the company priced its shares for the IPO, the stock rose for five consecutive trading days.
\n
How unusual it that? Over the past five years and among a data set consisting of over 200 IPOs,Dow Jones Market Data found just seven other instances of billion-dollar U.S. IPOs undergoing a similar winning streak.
\n
Not that there’s anything wrong with having a post-IPO winning streak. That’s all fine and good. Yet sometimes rallies can just get out of hand.
\n
Gravity finally took over on Nov. 17, when RIVN stock tumbled by as much as 18% in a single trading session.
\n
Even on that day, however, the share price was still elevated as it settled into the $140s. Yesterday the shares tumbled, and today they’re back up 10% to $135 in mid-afternoon trading.
\n
Bear in mind, however, that Rivian’s IPO was priced at just $78 per share, and the stock opened for public trading at $106.75 on Nov. 10.
\n
Therefore, it’s reasonable to conclude that RIVN stock would still be pricey in the $140’s or even in the $130’s. So feel free to wait until it comes down to a more sensible price point before taking a long position in the name.
\n
Big-Buck Backers
\n
Adventurous: that’s the one-word phrase I would use to describe Rivian as a company, as well as its vehicles.
\n
Adventurousness is really what sets Rivian apart. We all know that there are many EV start-ups on Wall Street now, but this one has a different attitude and tone.
\n
Don’t get me wrong; RIVN stock is far from a perfect investment. After all, Rivian is what’s politely called a “pre-revenue company,” and it just launched its first vehicle in September.
\n
That’s why the price action of the stock concerned me so much. Rivian hasn’t really accomplished enough to justify the intense burst of investor enthusiasm.
\n
On the other hand, Rivian has some big-money backers. These include Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) with a 22.4% stake,T.Rowe Price (NASDAQ:TROW) with 18.8% and Ford (NYSE:F) with 14.4%.
\n
Explore the Possibilities
\n
Now those firms aren’t run by dummies. Without a doubt, they conducted their due diligence before pouring tens of millions of dollars into Rivian.
\n
Perhaps they appreciate the robust features of Rivian’s vehicles, such as the R1T pickup truck.
\n
That Rivian EV model delivers an EPA-estimated 314 miles of range when paired with 21-inch wheels. And apparently, an R1T with a 400+ mile range will be available in January 2022.
\n
Or maybe Rivian’s large-scale backers are enamored with the R1S SUV, which supposedly allows its drivers to “Drive through 3+ feet of water [and] Rock crawl at a 100% grade.” Moreover, the R1S can take you from zero to 60 miles per hour in three seconds, depending on your tire selection. Now that the company has completed its initial public offering (IPO), RIVN stock is available for public trading and you can try out the shares of this ambitious electric vehicle (EV) start-up.\nRivian specializes in big vehicles, especially trucks and SUVs. Large vehicles can be cruelty-free, as the interiors of Rivian’s vehicles are made from 100% animal-free materials.\nNot only that, but Rivian’s battery packs are designed to be easily removed from the vehicles and can either be recycled or used in “second- life” applications such as stationary storage.\nThe uniqueness of Rivian’s vehicles has created some buzz among investors; there may have been too much buzz. Prospective shareholders need to exercise caution, as whatever goes up too fast in the market is liable to come down at the worst possible time.\nA Closer Look at RIVN Stock\nA surprising thing happened with RIVN stock. After the company priced its shares for the IPO, the stock rose for five consecutive trading days.\nHow unusual it that? Over the past five years and among a data set consisting of over 200 IPOs,Dow Jones Market Data found just seven other instances of billion-dollar U.S. IPOs undergoing a similar winning streak.\nNot that there’s anything wrong with having a post-IPO winning streak. That’s all fine and good. Yet sometimes rallies can just get out of hand.\nGravity finally took over on Nov. 17, when RIVN stock tumbled by as much as 18% in a single trading session.\nEven on that day, however, the share price was still elevated as it settled into the $140s. Yesterday the shares tumbled, and today they’re back up 10% to $135 in mid-afternoon trading.\nBear in mind, however, that Rivian’s IPO was priced at just $78 per share, and the stock opened for public trading at $106.75 on Nov. 10.\nTherefore, it’s reasonable to conclude that RIVN stock would still be pricey in the $140’s or even in the $130’s. So feel free to wait until it comes down to a more sensible price point before taking a long position in the name.\nBig-Buck Backers\nAdventurous: that’s the one-word phrase I would use to describe Rivian as a company, as well as its vehicles.\nAdventurousness is really what sets Rivian apart. We all know that there are many EV start-ups on Wall Street now, but this one has a different attitude and tone.\nDon’t get me wrong; RIVN stock is far from a perfect investment. After all, Rivian is what’s politely called a “pre-revenue company,” and it just launched its first vehicle in September.\nThat’s why the price action of the stock concerned me so much. Rivian hasn’t really accomplished enough to justify the intense burst of investor enthusiasm.\nOn the other hand, Rivian has some big-money backers. These include Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) with a 22.4% stake,T.Rowe Price (NASDAQ:TROW) with 18.8% and Ford (NYSE:F) with 14.4%.\nExplore the Possibilities\nNow those firms aren’t run by dummies. Without a doubt, they conducted their due diligence before pouring tens of millions of dollars into Rivian.\nPerhaps they appreciate the robust features of Rivian’s vehicles, such as the R1T pickup truck.\nThat Rivian EV model delivers an EPA-estimated 314 miles of range when paired with 21-inch wheels. And apparently, an R1T with a 400+ mile range will be available in January 2022.\nOr maybe Rivian’s large-scale backers are enamored with the R1S SUV, which supposedly allows its drivers to “Drive through 3+ feet of water [and] Rock crawl at a 100% grade.” Moreover, the R1S can take you from zero to 60 miles per hour in three seconds, depending on your tire selection. That’s not too bad, I must admit.\nThe Bottom Line\nSince the likes of Ford and Amazon are backing Rivian, then it’s hard to ignore the potential of this fascinating company. Yet sensible investors don’t have to jump immediately into RIVN stock. Patience will usually reward folks who let stocks come down a pre-selected level.\nSo feel free to explore the possibilities of RIVN stock for yourself at a more favorable price point.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":517,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":696905309,"gmtCreate":1640589371493,"gmtModify":1640589371574,"author":{"id":"4092135943477500","authorId":"4092135943477500","name":"Trillion","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a19127fe186fdb035e3fd7836eaa07ab","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4092135943477500","authorIdStr":"4092135943477500"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Noted","listText":"Noted","text":"Noted","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/696905309","repostId":"1161457155","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":934,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":693577376,"gmtCreate":1640055208785,"gmtModify":1640056783755,"author":{"id":"4092135943477500","authorId":"4092135943477500","name":"Trillion","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a19127fe186fdb035e3fd7836eaa07ab","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4092135943477500","authorIdStr":"4092135943477500"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Noted","listText":"Noted","text":"Noted","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/693577376","repostId":"1121664462","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1121664462","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1640054285,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1121664462?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-12-21 10:38","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Nio Stock: Is It A Double Bagger?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1121664462","media":"TheStreet","summary":"Shares of Chinese EV maker Nio are down nearly 30% in the last month. Right now, the only other company worth more than $2 trillion is Microsoft(NASDAQ:MSFT), which ended last week with a market cap of $2.57 trillion.
\n
\"The Street is starting to better appreciate the robust fundamental story into 2022 for [Apple Chief Executive] Tim Cook & Co.,\" said Wedbush analyst Dan Ives, in a research note on Sunday. \"Hitting $3 trillion is another watershed moment for Apple as the company continues to prove the doubters wrong with the renaissance of growth story playing out in Cupertino.\"
\n
While Apple's (AAPL) iPhone sales continue to be the biggest source of the company's strength--iPhones accounted for almost $39 billion of Apple's $83.4 billion in fiscal fourth-quarter sales--Ives said the \"linchpin\" of Apple's (AAPL) growing valuation is its services business.
\n
Services, which include items such as sales from the App Store and subscriptions to everything from Apple TV+ to iCloud storage plans, brought in $18.3 billion in revenue in Apple's (AAPL) most-recent quarter. Ives estimates that Apple's (AAPL) services business \"is worth $1.5 trillion in the eyes of the Street,\" and is benefiting from being coupled with a hardware ecosystem that \"is in the midst of its strongest product cycle in over a decade, led by iPhone 13.\"
\n
Even issues related to component supplies that could impede Apple's (AAPL) path toward a market cap for $3 trillion or more are likely to be little more than minor speedbumps for the company to overcome, in Ives opinion.
\n
\"Supply shortages of roughly 15 million iPhone units globally remain an issue that should moderate into early 2022,\" Ives said. \"Importantly, the underlying demand story is our focus into 2022 and we believe is the ultimate driver of the stock going forward.\"
\n
Ives estimates that Apple (AAPL) will sell more than 40 million iPhones during the end-of-the-year holiday season, and that China alone is set to see 15 million upgrades to the iPhone 13 during the quarter that concludes at the end of December.
\n
Along with the iPhone, Ives said many signs point toward Apple (AAPL) rolling out its first augmented reality [AR] glasses by the summer of 2022, and that move could add $20 a share to the company's valuation.
