COVID-19 vaccine for those 65 and older.
\n
Also helping sentiment, concern about a ripple effect from China Evergrande continued to ease.
\n
The Fed said on Wednesday it could begin reducing its monthly bond purchases by as soon as November, and that interest rates could rise quicker than expected by next year. The November deadline was largely priced in by markets.
\n
In a press conference after the statement, Fed Chair Jerome Powell said the bar for lifting rates from zero is much higher than for tapering.
\n
\"This is a follow-on rally from a very good Fed meeting,\" said Tim Ghriskey, chief investment strategist at Inverness Counsel in New York.
\n
\"To me that showed there were no surprises and things were as expected,\" he said. \"Any Fed rate hike is still quite a ways off and so much can change between now and then.\"
\n
Among S&P 500 major industry sectors, energy was up 3.4% and financial stocks were up 2.5%, gaining the most ground. on Nasdaq, a 2.66-to-1 ratio favored advancers.
\n
The S&P 500 posted 26 new 52-week highs and four new lows; the Nasdaq Composite recorded 97 new highs and 47 new lows.
\n
Volume on U.S. exchanges was 9.84 billion shares, compared with the 10.07 billion average for the last 20 trading days.
","source":"yahoofinance","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The November deadline was largely priced in by markets.\nIn a press conference after the statement, Fed Chair Jerome Powell said the bar for lifting rates from zero is much higher than for tapering.\n\"This is a follow-on rally from a very good Fed meeting,\" said Tim Ghriskey, chief investment strategist at Inverness Counsel in New York.\n\"To me that showed there were no surprises and things were as expected,\" he said. \"Any Fed rate hike is still quite a ways off and so much can change between now and then.\"\nAmong S&P 500 major industry sectors, energy was up 3.4% and financial stocks were up 2.5%, gaining the most ground. on Nasdaq, a 2.66-to-1 ratio favored advancers.\nThe S&P 500 posted 26 new 52-week highs and four new lows; the Nasdaq Composite recorded 97 new highs and 47 new lows.\nVolume on U.S. exchanges was 9.84 billion shares, compared with the 10.07 billion average for the last 20 trading days.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":66,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":887098431,"gmtCreate":1631940112623,"gmtModify":1632805175550,"author":{"id":"4090652305002260","authorId":"4090652305002260","name":"HarimauJago","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/807c9216c5d2adb038501b5f31819879","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4090652305002260","idStr":"4090652305002260"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"😀","listText":"😀","text":"😀","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/887098431","repostId":"2168716185","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2168716185","pubTimestamp":1631916051,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2168716185?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-09-18 06:00","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Wall Street closes rollercoaster week sharply lower","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2168716185","media":"The Straits Times","summary":"NEW YORK - US stocks ended sharply lower in a broad sell-off on Friday , ending a week buffeted by strong economic data, corporate tax hike worries, the Delta Covid-19 variant, and possible shifts in the US Federal Reserve's timeline for tapering asset purchases. All three major US stock indexes lost ground, with the Nasdaq Composite Index's weighed down as rising US Treasury yields pressured market-leading growth stocks. They also posted weekly losses, with the S&P index suffering its biggest tw","content":"
\n
NEW YORK (REUTERS) - US stocks ended sharply lower in a broad sell-off on Friday (Sept 17), ending a week buffeted by strong economic data, corporate tax hike worries, the Delta Covid-19 variant, and ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"straits_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Healthcare stocks suffered the largest percentage decline.\nChipmakers Nvidia Corp and Applied Materials rose 1.9% and 1.2%, respectively, and along with mega-cap growth stocks Alphabet Inc, Tesla Inc and Facebook Inc, provided the biggest boost to the Nasdaq.\nNordstrom Inc tumbled 17.6% after the department store operator posted a 6% decline in quarterly revenue from pre-pandemic levels.\nDick’s Sporting Goods Inc announced a special dividend and raised its annual sales and profit forecast, sending its shares surging 13.3%.\nAdvancing issues outnumbered declining ones on the NYSE by a 1.49-to-1 ratio; on Nasdaq, a 1.31-to-1 ratio favored advancers.\nThe S&P 500 posted 63 new 52-week highs and one new low; the Nasdaq Composite recorded 125 new highs and 33 new lows.\nVolume on U.S. exchanges was 8.29 billion shares, compared with the 9.00 billion average over the last 20 trading days.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":121,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":826016377,"gmtCreate":1633958015327,"gmtModify":1633958015381,"author":{"id":"4090652305002260","authorId":"4090652305002260","name":"HarimauJago","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/807c9216c5d2adb038501b5f31819879","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4090652305002260","authorIdStr":"4090652305002260"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[微笑] ","listText":"[微笑] ","text":"[微笑]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/826016377","repostId":"2174026599","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":232,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":887098431,"gmtCreate":1631940112623,"gmtModify":1632805175550,"author":{"id":"4090652305002260","authorId":"4090652305002260","name":"HarimauJago","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/807c9216c5d2adb038501b5f31819879","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4090652305002260","authorIdStr":"4090652305002260"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"😀","listText":"😀","text":"😀","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/887098431","repostId":"2168716185","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2168716185","pubTimestamp":1631916051,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2168716185?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-09-18 06:00","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Wall Street closes rollercoaster week sharply lower","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2168716185","media":"The Straits Times","summary":"NEW YORK - US stocks ended sharply lower in a broad sell-off on Friday , ending a week buffeted by strong economic data, corporate tax hike worries, the Delta Covid-19 variant, and possible shifts in the US Federal Reserve's timeline for tapering asset purchases.
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Healthcare stocks suffered the largest percentage decline.\nChipmakers Nvidia Corp and Applied Materials rose 1.9% and 1.2%, respectively, and along with mega-cap growth stocks Alphabet Inc, Tesla Inc and Facebook Inc, provided the biggest boost to the Nasdaq.\nNordstrom Inc tumbled 17.6% after the department store operator posted a 6% decline in quarterly revenue from pre-pandemic levels.\nDick’s Sporting Goods Inc announced a special dividend and raised its annual sales and profit forecast, sending its shares surging 13.3%.\nAdvancing issues outnumbered declining ones on the NYSE by a 1.49-to-1 ratio; on Nasdaq, a 1.31-to-1 ratio favored advancers.\nThe S&P 500 posted 63 new 52-week highs and one new low; the Nasdaq Composite recorded 125 new highs and 33 new lows.\nVolume on U.S. exchanges was 8.29 billion shares, compared with the 9.00 billion average over the last 20 trading days.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":121,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":696522636,"gmtCreate":1640738263609,"gmtModify":1640738401721,"author":{"id":"4090652305002260","authorId":"4090652305002260","name":"HarimauJago","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/807c9216c5d2adb038501b5f31819879","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4090652305002260","authorIdStr":"4090652305002260"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[smile] ","listText":"[smile] ","text":"[smile]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/696522636","repostId":"1112737713","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":92,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
