Using the Stock Vouchers

Hello, I am new here in Tiger Trade app. I recently got some stock vouchers but I am not sure if I used it correctly. I got some 20SGD (around 14.67 USD) stock vouchers. So I bought some US stocks below 14 USD but when i check my vouchers they are still not used. Anyone knows if I am doing it right?

He said to expect significantly increased R&amp;D investments going forward.</p>\n<p>In addition, Moderna plans to make between $450 million and $550 million this year in capital investments. These investments include a major expansion of capacity to be able to manufacture up to 3 billion doses of its COVID-19 vaccine in 2022. The company is also investing in technology improvements and beefing up its global commercial operations.</p>\n<h2>Why buy back shares?</h2>\n<p>Probably the most important reason why Moderna is preparing to invest so much in itself is that the company's management team is very confident in its business prospects. CEO Stéphane Bancel said in the Q2 call, \"We are very optimistic about the future of Moderna and we are just getting started.\"</p>\n<p>Another reason why Moderna is ready to spend up to $1 billion in stock buybacks is that it's likely going to have more cash than it knows what to do with. The company ended the second quarter with a cash stockpile of $12.2 billion. That amount will almost certainly continue to grow.</p>\n<p>Moderna expects to rake in $20 billion in sales from its COVID-19 vaccine this year. It already has advance purchase agreements worth $12 billion plus another $8 billion in options for next year.</p>\n<p>Repurchasing shares is actually Moderna's third investment priority. The company first wants to reinvest in its base business, which includes the aforementioned increased R&amp;D and capital spending. Moderna also is interested in expanding its pipeline through business development, deals including licensing and acquisitions.</p>\n<p>Moderna's board seems to think that the company will still have plenty of money left over after investing in those two top priorities. Based on the company's revenue projections, it should easily be able to spare $1 billion for stock buybacks.</p>\n<h2>A good bet?</h2>\n<p>Just because Moderna <i>can</i> spend $1 billion on share repurchases doesn't mean that it <i>should</i> do so. I don't think Moderna should make that $1 billion bet in buying back shares.&nbsp;My view is that stock buybacks at Moderna's current valuation (or anywhere close to it) would be ill-advised.</p>\n<p>Of course, Moderna could wait to buy back shares only on pullbacks.&nbsp;However, unless its shares plunge significantly, I think that Moderna would better serve its shareholders by making a strategic acquisition with the $1 billion than buying its own richly priced shares.</p>\n<p>The company needs to be able to generate growth after the worst of the pandemic ends. Their collective performance was astonishing. As a group, their revenue increased 36%, to $332 billion. These companies spent the pandemic making gobs of money.</p>\n<p>Butinvestors were unimpressed. While <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/GOOGL\">Alphabet</a> inched 1.3% higher for the week, the others were all down. Amazongot the worst reception; its stock fell 7.6% on Friday. With all five hovering near all-time highs, investors are taking profits, worried that growth rates are going to slow from here. Beneath the surface, the concerns are well founded. Here are the key takeaways from Big Tech’s huge earnings:</p>\n<p><b>The pandemic boom is over.</b>That’s not to say the pandemic itself is over—the Delta variant is wreaking havoc—but Americans have already made changes in their behavior, and those adjustments are having a major impact on the tech giants.</p>\n<p>It starts with e-commerce. Amazon Chief Financial Officer Brian Olsavsky said on the company’s earnings call that starting in mid-May, growth in e-commerce sales dropped into the midteens from the 30%-to-40% range. People are getting vaccines and leaving the house to buy things that just a few months ago they would have bought online. They’re also shifting some disposable income from online shopping to travel, restaurants, and even events. Olsavsky sees continued tough comparisons for Amazon—and midteens growth rates—for the next few quarters.</p>\n<p>Applebeat expectations in all of its segments, but growth is slowing there, too. Mac sales were up 16% in the June quarter, down from 70% growth three months earlier. iPad sales were up 12%, versus 79% in the March period. This is all still better than before the pandemic, but it suggests that the furious shopping spree for home offices and virtual schooling is coming to an end.Logitech(LOGI), which makes PC peripherals like mice and webcams, had 66% revenue growth in the June quarter, but it sees flat revenue for its fiscal year ending in March 2022.</p>\n<p><b>Component shortages continue.</b>The market’s biggest issue with <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AAPL\">Apple</a>’s quarter was its warning that the chip supply shortage has worsened since the end of June—and that the issue will affect the availability of iPads and, even worse, iPhones. In September, Apple is expected torelease the iPhone 13—and there’s a risk that Apple might not be able to meet demand.<a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/QCOM\">Qualcomm</a>(QCOM) this past week warned that the chip shortage could drag into 2022. This could take a while to fix.</p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Apple CEO Tim Cook said on the company’s earnings call that shipping costs are higher, too. I saw evidence of that from my seat at a San Francisco Giants game this past week. Looking past McCovey Cove toward San Francisco <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/BYBK\">Bay</a>, there were at least a dozen container ships lined up to get into the Port of Oakland, which saw an 11% increase in cargo volume in the first half. The port is backed up in part due to a shortage of dockworkers. Freight rates are at record levels, and the holiday merchandising season is fast approaching, adding to demand for freight capacity.</p>\n<p><b>Online advertising is blazing hot.</b>On a brighter note for investors, <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/GOOG\">Alphabet</a>’sad business grew 68% in the latest quarter, including an 84% jump in advertising at YouTube. <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/FB\">Facebook</a>’sad business grew 56%, driven by a 47% year-over-year increase in ad pricing. Amazon’s “other” revenue category, mostly ads, was up 87%, to $7.9 billion, nearly $1 billion better than Wall Street estimates. While Alphabet inched 1.3% higher for the week, the others were all down. Amazongot the worst reception; its stock fell 7.6% on Friday. With all five hovering near all-time highs, investors are taking profits, worried that growth rates are going to slow from here. Beneath the surface, the concerns are well founded. Here are the key takeaways from Big Tech’s huge earnings:\nThe pandemic boom is over.That’s not to say the pandemic itself is over—the Delta variant is wreaking havoc—but Americans have already made changes in their behavior, and those adjustments are having a major impact on the tech giants.\nIt starts with e-commerce. Amazon Chief Financial Officer Brian Olsavsky said on the company’s earnings call that starting in mid-May, growth in e-commerce sales dropped into the midteens from the 30%-to-40% range. People are getting vaccines and leaving the house to buy things that just a few months ago they would have bought online. They’re also shifting some disposable income from online shopping to travel, restaurants, and even events. Olsavsky sees continued tough comparisons for Amazon—and midteens growth rates—for the next few quarters.\nApplebeat expectations in all of its segments, but growth is slowing there, too. Mac sales were up 16% in the June quarter, down from 70% growth three months earlier. iPad sales were up 12%, versus 79% in the March period. This is all still better than before the pandemic, but it suggests that the furious shopping spree for home offices and virtual schooling is coming to an end.Logitech(LOGI), which makes PC peripherals like mice and webcams, had 66% revenue growth in the June quarter, but it sees flat revenue for its fiscal year ending in March 2022.\nComponent shortages continue.The market’s biggest issue with Apple’s quarter was its warning that the chip supply shortage has worsened since the end of June—and that the issue will affect the availability of iPads and, even worse, iPhones. In September, Apple is expected torelease the iPhone 13—and there’s a risk that Apple might not be able to meet demand.Qualcomm(QCOM) this past week warned that the chip shortage could drag into 2022. This could take a while to fix.\nMeanwhile, Apple CEO Tim Cook said on the company’s earnings call that shipping costs are higher, too. I saw evidence of that from my seat at a San Francisco Giants game this past week. Looking past McCovey Cove toward San Francisco Bay, there were at least a dozen container ships lined up to get into the Port of Oakland, which saw an 11% increase in cargo volume in the first half. The port is backed up in part due to a shortage of dockworkers. Freight rates are at record levels, and the holiday merchandising season is fast approaching, adding to demand for freight capacity.\nOnline advertising is blazing hot.On a brighter note for investors, Alphabet’sad business grew 68% in the latest quarter, including an 84% jump in advertising at YouTube. Facebook’sad business grew 56%, driven by a 47% year-over-year increase in ad pricing. Amazon’s “other” revenue category, mostly ads, was up 87%, to $7.9 billion, nearly $1 billion better than Wall Street estimates. With all five hovering near all-time highs, investors are taking profits, worried that growth rates are going to slow from here. Beneath the surface, the concerns are well founded. Here are the key takeaways from Big Tech’s huge earnings:</p>\n<p><b>The pandemic boom is over.</b>That’s not to say the pandemic itself is over—the Delta variant is wreaking havoc—but Americans have already made changes in their behavior, and those adjustments are having a major impact on the tech giants.</p>\n<p>It starts with e-commerce. Amazon Chief Financial Officer Brian Olsavsky said on the company’s earnings call that starting in mid-May, growth in e-commerce sales dropped into the midteens from the 30%-to-40% range. People are getting vaccines and leaving the house to buy things that just a few months ago they would have bought online. They’re also shifting some disposable income from online shopping to travel, restaurants, and even events. Olsavsky sees continued tough comparisons for Amazon—and midteens growth rates—for the next few quarters.</p>\n<p>Applebeat expectations in all of its segments, but growth is slowing there, too. Mac sales were up 16% in the June quarter, down from 70% growth three months earlier. iPad sales were up 12%, versus 79% in the March period. This is all still better than before the pandemic, but it suggests that the furious shopping spree for home offices and virtual schooling is coming to an end.Logitech(LOGI), which makes PC peripherals like mice and webcams, had 66% revenue growth in the June quarter, but it sees flat revenue for its fiscal year ending in March 2022.</p>\n<p><b>Component shortages continue.</b>The market’s biggest issue with <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AAPL\">Apple</a>’s quarter was its warning that the chip supply shortage has worsened since the end of June—and that the issue will affect the availability of iPads and, even worse, iPhones. In September, Apple is expected torelease the iPhone 13—and there’s a risk that Apple might not be able to meet demand.<a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/QCOM\">Qualcomm</a>(QCOM) this past week warned that the chip shortage could drag into 2022. This could take a while to fix.</p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Apple CEO Tim Cook said on the company’s earnings call that shipping costs are higher, too. I saw evidence of that from my seat at a San Francisco Giants game this past week. Looking past McCovey Cove toward San Francisco <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/BYBK\">Bay</a>, there were at least a dozen container ships lined up to get into the Port of Oakland, which saw an 11% increase in cargo volume in the first half. The port is backed up in part due to a shortage of dockworkers. Freight rates are at record levels, and the holiday merchandising season is fast approaching, adding to demand for freight capacity.</p>\n<p><b>Online advertising is blazing hot.</b>On a brighter note for investors, <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/GOOG\">Alphabet</a>’sad business grew 68% in the latest quarter, including an 84% jump in advertising at YouTube. <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/FB\">Facebook</a>’sad business grew 56%, driven by a 47% year-over-year increase in ad pricing. That was $500 million better than estimates. Microsoft Azure revenue was up 51%, beating the Wall Street consensus by nine percentage points. Alphabet posted 54% growth in its Google Cloud business, accelerating from 46% growth in the March quarter. Google Cloud is rapidly approaching a $20 billion annual revenue run rate. Some might view the vaccine stock as overpriced now that its market cap tops $190 billion. But not everyone.</p>\n<p>There's <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> investor preparing to make a $1 billion bet on Moderna. Who is it? None other than Moderna itself.</p>\n<h2>Investing heavily</h2>\n<p>Moderna stated in its second-quarter update that its board of directors authorized a share repurchase program of up to $1 billion. Don't expect the company to spend all that money at one time, though. The authorized funds can be used over a two-year period to buy back shares.</p>\n<p>Actually, Moderna has invested and will invest a lot more than just $1 billion in its business. CFO David Meline noted in the company's Q2 conference call that Moderna more than tripled its research and development spending year over year in the first half of 2021. He said to expect significantly increased R&amp;D investments going forward.</p>\n<p>In addition, Moderna plans to make between $450 million and $550 million this year in capital investments. These investments include a major expansion of capacity to be able to manufacture up to 3 billion doses of its COVID-19 vaccine in 2022. The company is also investing in technology improvements and beefing up its global commercial operations.</p>\n<h2>Why buy back shares?</h2>\n<p>Probably the most important reason why Moderna is preparing to invest so much in itself is that the company's management team is very confident in its business prospects. CEO Stéphane Bancel said in the Q2 call, \"We are very optimistic about the future of Moderna and we are just getting started.\"</p>\n<p>Another reason why Moderna is ready to spend up to $1 billion in stock buybacks is that it's likely going to have more cash than it knows what to do with. The company ended the second quarter with a cash stockpile of $12.2 billion. That amount will almost certainly continue to grow.</p>\n<p>Moderna expects to rake in $20 billion in sales from its COVID-19 vaccine this year. It already has advance purchase agreements worth $12 billion plus another $8 billion in options for next year.</p>\n<p>Repurchasing shares is actually Moderna's third investment priority. The company first wants to reinvest in its base business, which includes the aforementioned increased R&amp;D and capital spending. Moderna also is interested in expanding its pipeline through business development, deals including licensing and acquisitions.</p>\n<p>Moderna's board seems to think that the company will still have plenty of money left over after investing in those two top priorities. Based on the company's revenue projections, it should easily be able to spare $1 billion for stock buybacks.</p>\n<h2>A good bet?</h2>\n<p>Just because Moderna <i>can</i> spend $1 billion on share repurchases doesn't mean that it <i>should</i> do so. I don't think Moderna should make that $1 billion bet in buying back shares.&nbsp;My view is that stock buybacks at Moderna's current valuation (or anywhere close to it) would be ill-advised.</p>\n<p>Of course, Moderna could wait to buy back shares only on pullbacks.&nbsp;However, unless its shares plunge significantly, I think that Moderna would better serve its shareholders by making a strategic acquisition with the $1 billion than buying its own richly priced shares.</p>\n<p>The company needs to be able to generate growth after the worst of the pandemic ends. Some might view the vaccine stock as overpriced now that its market cap tops $190 billion. But not everyone.\nThere's one investor preparing to make a $1 billion bet on Moderna. Who is it? None other than Moderna itself.\nInvesting heavily\nModerna stated in its second-quarter update that its board of directors authorized a share repurchase program of up to $1 billion. Don't expect the company to spend all that money at one time, though. The authorized funds can be used over a two-year period to buy back shares.\nActually, Moderna has invested and will invest a lot more than just $1 billion in its business. CFO David Meline noted in the company's Q2 conference call that Moderna more than tripled its research and development spending year over year in the first half of 2021. He said to expect significantly increased R&D investments going forward.\nIn addition, Moderna plans to make between $450 million and $550 million this year in capital investments. These investments include a major expansion of capacity to be able to manufacture up to 3 billion doses of its COVID-19 vaccine in 2022. The company is also investing in technology improvements and beefing up its global commercial operations.\nWhy buy back shares?\nProbably the most important reason why Moderna is preparing to invest so much in itself is that the company's management team is very confident in its business prospects. CEO Stéphane Bancel said in the Q2 call, \"We are very optimistic about the future of Moderna and we are just getting started.\"\nAnother reason why Moderna is ready to spend up to $1 billion in stock buybacks is that it's likely going to have more cash than it knows what to do with. The company ended the second quarter with a cash stockpile of $12.2 billion. That amount will almost certainly continue to grow.\nModerna expects to rake in $20 billion in sales from its COVID-19 vaccine this year. It already has advance purchase agreements worth $12 billion plus another $8 billion in options for next year.\nRepurchasing shares is actually Moderna's third investment priority. The company first wants to reinvest in its base business, which includes the aforementioned increased R&D and capital spending. Moderna also is interested in expanding its pipeline through business development, deals including licensing and acquisitions.\nModerna's board seems to think that the company will still have plenty of money left over after investing in those two top priorities. Based on the company's revenue projections, it should easily be able to spare $1 billion for stock buybacks.\nA good bet?\nJust because Moderna can spend $1 billion on share repurchases doesn't mean that it should do so. I don't think Moderna should make that $1 billion bet in buying back shares. My view is that stock buybacks at Moderna's current valuation (or anywhere close to it) would be ill-advised.\nOf course, Moderna could wait to buy back shares only on pullbacks. However, unless its shares plunge significantly, I think that Moderna would better serve its shareholders by making a strategic acquisition with the $1 billion than buying its own richly priced shares.\nThe company needs to be able to generate growth after the worst of the pandemic ends. The firm purported","content":"<p>The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) sued the organization responsible for the development of a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol over activities involved with the project for the first time.</p>\n<p><b>What Happened:</b>&nbsp;According to a Friday SEC&nbsp;announcement, the agency has sued Cayman Islands-based Blockchain Credit Partners and two of its top executives over allegedly selling unregistered securities through its DeFi Money Market platform from February 2020 to February 2021. The firm purportedly sold over $30 million worth of two types of tokens that the SEC deemed to be securities that should have been registered as such.</p>\n<p>The SEC notes that Blockchain Credit Partners&nbsp;founders Gregory Keough and Derek Acree will have to pay fines of $125,000 while the company itself also agreed to pay $12.8 million in disgorgement. The settlement does not indicate an admition or denial&nbsp;the accusations.</p>\n<p><b>New Game, Old Rules?</b></p>\n<p>SEC Enforcement Director Gurbir Grewal explained that \"full and honest disclosure remains the cornerstone of our securities laws — no matter what technologies are used to offer and sell those securities.\" This comment makes it very clear that slapping the DeFi label on a project and hoping to avoid regulation this way works no better than calling it a \"utility token\" prevented falling under the SEC's scrutiny during 2017's initial coin offering craze.</p>\n<p>The SEC is trying to send the clear rule that the new kind of financial organizations that operate on blockchains have to still play by the old rules that govern traditional finance. At the same time, market onlookers are not sure if the regulator is actually right.</p>\n<p>In a way, it is a tour de force where the regulator wins every time it has a way to take enforcement action, but these new organizations potentially have a very real way to make enforcement impossible — or at the very least impractical. The only protection against enforcement by the SEC and other regulators is decentralization and the only reason why the SEC was able to act in this case is that a centralized organization such as Blockchain Credit Partners exists.</p>\n<p><b>What's Next:</b>If no company exists and all that there is to a DeFi protocol is a set of smart contracts deployed on a blockchain by a group of anonymous developers scattered around the world there is very little that the SEC can do short of attacking the blockchain itself. This is where the decentralization of the underlying blockchain comes into play: will the regulators for instance be able to force&nbsp;<b>Ethereum's</b>&nbsp;(CRYPTO: ETH) core development team to write an update stopping such a project?</p>\n<p>If the regulators would actually be able to force the blockchain's developers to write such an update, would node operators and miners or stakers adopt this software or would they refuse to? Such situations will be the real test of the decentralization and reliability of any blockchain that many are waiting to happen. The firm purportedly sold over $30 million worth of two types of tokens that the SEC deemed to be securities that should have been registered as such.\nThe SEC notes that Blockchain Credit Partners founders Gregory Keough and Derek Acree will have to pay fines of $125,000 while the company itself also agreed to pay $12.8 million in disgorgement. The settlement does not indicate an admition or denial the accusations.\nNew Game, Old Rules?\nSEC Enforcement Director Gurbir Grewal explained that \"full and honest disclosure remains the cornerstone of our securities laws — no matter what technologies are used to offer and sell those securities.\" This comment makes it very clear that slapping the DeFi label on a project and hoping to avoid regulation this way works no better than calling it a \"utility token\" prevented falling under the SEC's scrutiny during 2017's initial coin offering craze.\nThe SEC is trying to send the clear rule that the new kind of financial organizations that operate on blockchains have to still play by the old rules that govern traditional finance. At the same time, market onlookers are not sure if the regulator is actually right.\nIn a way, it is a tour de force where the regulator wins every time it has a way to take enforcement action, but these new organizations potentially have a very real way to make enforcement impossible — or at the very least impractical. The only protection against enforcement by the SEC and other regulators is decentralization and the only reason why the SEC was able to act in this case is that a centralized organization such as Blockchain Credit Partners exists.\nWhat's Next:If no company exists and all that there is to a DeFi protocol is a set of smart contracts deployed on a blockchain by a group of anonymous developers scattered around the world there is very little that the SEC can do short of attacking the blockchain itself.
