Alphabet (<b>GOOGL</b>) -Get Reportis the top performerwith a near-40% gain in the first half of the year, while Netflix (<b>NFLX</b>) -Get Report is the worst, with a 2.3% drop.</p>\n<p>Alibaba has a similar first-half performance, down 2.6%. However, it’s doing far worse from the highs, down more than 30%.</p>\n<p>Can it turn around its woes in the second half and start rallying higher?</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9975f383919ff8cfc34fca49a32d8e8f\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"494\"></p>\n<p>Call me a hopeless optimist, but I feel that Alibaba can have a solid second-half performance.</p>\n<p>The overall market has done too well and so has large-cap tech. The fundamentals of the business are intact and growth is strong. It’s like Amazon (<b>AMZN</b>) -Get Report.Eventually, it will perform better - it’s a question of “when” and not “if.”</p>\n<p>Shares continue to hold the $210 to $212 area and have recently cleared downtrend resistance (blue line). That said, there’s plenty of overhead hurdles.</p>\n<p>Specifically, Alibaba stock is struggling with the 21-week moving average, as well as the 21-month and 10-month moving averages.</p>\n<p>Let’s be clear: There are not a lot of bullish technical components here. If Alibaba stock could hold the 10-week moving average on this week’s dip, I’d feel better about it.</p>\n<p>However, as long as it can hold up over the $210 level and really, the 200-week moving average, I feel okay about Alibaba going into the next six months.</p>\n<p>A push over $235 - thus putting it over all of the moving average hurdles mentioned above - could open up a run to $250, then $263. Not only does it demonstrate that NIO’s production capacity is continuing to grow, it shows demand for EVs in China remains strong. The delivery figure also strengthens the case that the semiconductor shortage that limited global automotive production in the first half of 2021 is starting to fade. The latter two conclusions are good news for all EV manufacturers.</p>\n<p>NIO stock was up 2.8% in premarket trading. Futures on the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average,meanwhile, are close to flat.</p>\n<p>Investors and traders have been anticipating a good delivery result. NIO stock rose 38% in June and is up 18% week to date. Citigroup analyst Jeff Chung increased his target for NIO’s stock price Wednesday to $72 a share, partly because he saw strong demand for EVs.</p>\n<p>Recent gains have pushed the stock back into positive territory for the year. NIO stock is now up 9% year to date, though it is still down about 21% from its January 52-week high of about $67.</p>\n<p>The gains have pushed NIO’s market capitalization to about $87 billion, putting it past General Motors(GM) and its $86 billion capitalization.</p>\n<p>NIO hasn’t offered a forecast for NIO’s full-year deliveries, but Citi’s Chung, however, expects NIO to delivery about 93,000 vehicles in 2020. He says deliveries should increase sequentially in the third and fourth quarters of 2021.
