It could also pay $30 million more in the first year if the state executive chamber signs into law new legislation creating an opioid settlement fund, according to the press release from James’ office.\nThe settlement follows years of lawsuits by states, cities and counties against major pharmaceutical companies over the opioid crisis, which haskilled nearly 500,000 peoplein the U.S. in the last couple decades.\nGovernments have argued that companies over-prescribed the drugs, causing people to become addicted and abuse other illegal forms of opioids, while companies have said they’ve distributed the necessary amount of the product to help people with medical issues.\n“The opioid epidemic has wreaked havoc on countless communities across New York state and the rest of the nation, leaving millions still addicted to dangerous and deadly opioids,” James said in a statement.\n“Johnson & Johnson helped fuel this fire, but today they’re committing to leaving the opioid business — not only in New York, but across the entire country,” she said. “Opioids will no longer be manufactured or sold in the United States by J&J.”\nThe New York opioid lawsuit trial against the rest of the defendants will begin this week, according to the release. Other defendants in the New York suit include Purdue Pharma; Mallinckrodt LLC; Endo Health Solutions; Teva Pharmaceuticals USA; and Allergan Finance LLC.\nIn a statement Saturday, Johnson & Johnson said the settlement “is not an admission of liability or wrongdoing by the company” and is “consistent with the terms of the previously announced $5 billion all-in settlement agreement in principle for the resolution of opioid lawsuits and claims by states, cities, counties and tribal governments.”\nThe company also said it would continue to defend against any lawsuits the final agreement does not resolve.\nJames said the state will focus on funding for opioid prevention, treatment and education efforts in order to “prevent any future devastation.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":189,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":127285752,"gmtCreate":1624851140376,"gmtModify":1633947960982,"author":{"id":"4087516747737490","authorId":"4087516747737490","name":"risa","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3dbbd9f45c71d8a897d55787e7f7aae3","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087516747737490","authorIdStr":"4087516747737490"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow","listText":"Wow","text":"Wow","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/127285752","repostId":"1157825898","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":336,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":127288514,"gmtCreate":1624850998638,"gmtModify":1633947963955,"author":{"id":"4087516747737490","authorId":"4087516747737490","name":"risa","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3dbbd9f45c71d8a897d55787e7f7aae3","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087516747737490","authorIdStr":"4087516747737490"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Alright ","listText":"Alright ","text":"Alright","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/127288514","repostId":"2146500068","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":149,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":127288933,"gmtCreate":1624850968922,"gmtModify":1633947964483,"author":{"id":"4087516747737490","authorId":"4087516747737490","name":"risa","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3dbbd9f45c71d8a897d55787e7f7aae3","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087516747737490","authorIdStr":"4087516747737490"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/127288933","repostId":"2146883790","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2146883790","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1624850100,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2146883790?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-28 11:15","market":"us","language":"en","title":"China Tourism aims for $7 billion Hong Kong listing - sources","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2146883790","media":"StreetInsider","summary":"HONG KONG (Reuters) - China Tourism Group Duty Free Corp Ltd aims to raise up to $7 billion in a Hon","content":"
HONG KONG (Reuters) - China Tourism Group Duty Free Corp Ltd aims to raise up to $7 billion in a Hong Kong secondary listing, two people with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters.
\n
The people declined to be identified as the information is not yet public.
\n
The Shanghai-listed company did not respond to a request for comment on the size of the deal.
\n
The firm has lodged a filing for the listing with Hong Kong's stock exchange. It could also pay $30 million more in the first year if the state executive chamber signs into law new legislation creating an opioid settlement fund, according to the press release from James’ office.\nThe settlement follows years of lawsuits by states, cities and counties against major pharmaceutical companies over the opioid crisis, which haskilled nearly 500,000 peoplein the U.S. in the last couple decades.\nGovernments have argued that companies over-prescribed the drugs, causing people to become addicted and abuse other illegal forms of opioids, while companies have said they’ve distributed the necessary amount of the product to help people with medical issues.\n“The opioid epidemic has wreaked havoc on countless communities across New York state and the rest of the nation, leaving millions still addicted to dangerous and deadly opioids,” James said in a statement.\n“Johnson & Johnson helped fuel this fire, but today they’re committing to leaving the opioid business — not only in New York, but across the entire country,” she said. “Opioids will no longer be manufactured or sold in the United States by J&J.”\nThe New York opioid lawsuit trial against the rest of the defendants will begin this week, according to the release. Other defendants in the New York suit include Purdue Pharma; Mallinckrodt LLC; Endo Health Solutions; Teva Pharmaceuticals USA; and Allergan Finance LLC.\nIn a statement Saturday, Johnson & Johnson said the settlement “is not an admission of liability or wrongdoing by the company” and is “consistent with the terms of the previously announced $5 billion all-in settlement agreement in principle for the resolution of opioid lawsuits and claims by states, cities, counties and tribal governments.”\nThe company also said it would continue to defend against any lawsuits the final agreement does not resolve.\nJames said the state will focus on funding for opioid prevention, treatment and education efforts in order to “prevent any future devastation.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":189,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":127288514,"gmtCreate":1624850998638,"gmtModify":1633947963955,"author":{"id":"4087516747737490","authorId":"4087516747737490","name":"risa","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3dbbd9f45c71d8a897d55787e7f7aae3","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087516747737490","authorIdStr":"4087516747737490"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Alright ","listText":"Alright ","text":"Alright","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/127288514","repostId":"2146500068","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":149,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":127213636,"gmtCreate":1624850498025,"gmtModify":1633947975058,"author":{"id":"4087516747737490","authorId":"4087516747737490","name":"risa","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3dbbd9f45c71d8a897d55787e7f7aae3","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087516747737490","authorIdStr":"4087516747737490"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"It is easy to navigate in Tigers ","listText":"It is easy to navigate in Tigers ","text":"It is easy to navigate in Tigers","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/127213636","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":118,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
