Comparing the two, more than one-fourth of the top TAA companies are in the top decile of the QSI; two-thirds are in the top quarter, and all but two (92%) are in the top half.</p>\n<p>Notably, both the TAA top 10 and the QSI Top 25 outperformed the S&amp;P 500 by 30% and 50%, respectively, in recent five-year periods. Don't go off and buy this stock hand over fist, but if you are willing to give this <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> a shot for a decade or more, there are reasons you might want to add it to your watchlist at the very least.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://g.foolcdn.com/image/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fg.foolcdn.com%2Feditorial%2Fimages%2F632438%2Fdata-center.jpg&amp;w=700&amp;op=resize\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"393\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>When even stellar financial results don't really matter</h2>\n<p>Snowflake continues to deliver the goods since becoming a public concern. Revenue in Q1 2021 notched a 110% year-over-year increase to $229 million, and full-year 2021 guidance is calling for a first-ever $1 billion in annual sales -- implying growth of no less than 84% from 2020. The company also anticipates reaching break-even on an adjusted free cash flow basis. Not bad at all, Snowflake.</p>\n<p>However, the rub for many investors is that the stock still trades for over 65 times full-year 2021 expected sales to enterprise value (market cap minus cash and equivalents). It's an incredible valuation, pricing in not just the expectation that the cloud computing industry will grow by double-digit percentages for the foreseeable future, but also that Snowflake's leading \"Data Cloud\" service will remain a leader among its peers in data management.</p>\n<p>Companies projecting growth too far into the future (and investors paying up for that growth and accepting a steep premium price tag) can be problematic. Business trends can change quickly, and competitors both old and new can present headaches for a company's growth trajectory. It thus comes as little surprise that Snowflake stock has been stuck in a volatile downward-trending line since its IPO last autumn.</p>\n<p>Snowflake is happy to oblige those who have been willing to take on the risk of buying, though. While most companies shy away from providing any sort of specific guidance beyond a year, not Snowflake. During its 2021 investor day presentation, it provided a product revenue goal all the way out to fiscal year 2029: $10 billion. If 2021 expectations for just over $1 billion transpire, the 2029 projection represents an average annual compound growth rate of over 33%, and it values the stock at under seven times 2029 sales.</p>\n<h2>A pie-in-the-sky goal?</h2>\n<p>Before you balk at such an ambitious very long-term projection, consider a few items. Cloud computing is a massive secular growth trend. Spending on cloud computing could reach $1 <i>trillion per year </i>by the end of this decade. And within the current greater cloud industry -- pegged at just over $330 billion in global spend this year by tech researcher <b>Gartner</b> -- application and infrastructure services (the corner of the cloud sandbox Snowflake is making snow angels in) are over one-third of the total spend.</p>\n<p>Put another way, this is a massive space, and Snowflake is indeed just one flake among a blizzard of cloud services out there.</p>\n<p>Cast in that light, $10 billion in sales in nearly a decade, in an industry that could soak up over a trillion dollars per year, suddenly doesn't seem so ambitious. In fact, Snowflake's goal could be downright achievable. And don't forget this company has nearly $4 billion in cash, another $1.2 billion in long-term investments, and no debt. That's quite the war chest it could deploy on new products or acquisitions -- making its long-term plan that much more easily within reach.</p>\n<p>The most pressing question, of course, is this: Is the stock a buy? If you need the money within a couple of years, or don't have the patience or temperament to wait out what is sure to be a wild ride over the next eight to 10 years, probably not. But if you're ultra-long on the cloud industry, you're still saving money and can plan to buy more Snowflake stock over time if the bull thesis plays out, maybe paying less than seven times sales projected into 2029 isn't such a bad idea.</p>\n<p>At the very least, put this stock on your watchlist and do some more due diligence to flesh out whether or not you believe management's messaging. Don't go off and buy this stock hand over fist, but if you are willing to give this one a shot for a decade or more, there are reasons you might want to add it to your watchlist at the very least.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nWhen even stellar financial results don't really matter\nSnowflake continues to deliver the goods since becoming a public concern. Revenue in Q1 2021 notched a 110% year-over-year increase to $229 million, and full-year 2021 guidance is calling for a first-ever $1 billion in annual sales -- implying growth of no less than 84% from 2020. The company also anticipates reaching break-even on an adjusted free cash flow basis. Not bad at all, Snowflake.\nHowever, the rub for many investors is that the stock still trades for over 65 times full-year 2021 expected sales to enterprise value (market cap minus cash and equivalents). It's an incredible valuation, pricing in not just the expectation that the cloud computing industry will grow by double-digit percentages for the foreseeable future, but also that Snowflake's leading \"Data Cloud\" service will remain a leader among its peers in data management.\nCompanies projecting growth too far into the future (and investors paying up for that growth and accepting a steep premium price tag) can be problematic. Business trends can change quickly, and competitors both old and new can present headaches for a company's growth trajectory. It thus comes as little surprise that Snowflake stock has been stuck in a volatile downward-trending line since its IPO last autumn.\nSnowflake is happy to oblige those who have been willing to take on the risk of buying, though. While most companies shy away from providing any sort of specific guidance beyond a year, not Snowflake. During its 2021 investor day presentation, it provided a product revenue goal all the way out to fiscal year 2029: $10 billion. If 2021 expectations for just over $1 billion transpire, the 2029 projection represents an average annual compound growth rate of over 33%, and it values the stock at under seven times 2029 sales.\nA pie-in-the-sky goal?\nBefore you balk at such an ambitious very long-term projection, consider a few items. Cloud computing is a massive secular growth trend. Spending on cloud computing could reach $1 trillion per year by the end of this decade. And within the current greater cloud industry -- pegged at just over $330 billion in global spend this year by tech researcher Gartner -- application and infrastructure services (the corner of the cloud sandbox Snowflake is making snow angels in) are over one-third of the total spend.\nPut another way, this is a massive space, and Snowflake is indeed just one flake among a blizzard of cloud services out there.\nCast in that light, $10 billion in sales in nearly a decade, in an industry that could soak up over a trillion dollars per year, suddenly doesn't seem so ambitious. In fact, Snowflake's goal could be downright achievable. And don't forget this company has nearly $4 billion in cash, another $1.2 billion in long-term investments, and no debt. That's quite the war chest it could deploy on new products or acquisitions -- making its long-term plan that much more easily within reach.\nThe most pressing question, of course, is this: Is the stock a buy? If you need the money within a couple of years, or don't have the patience or temperament to wait out what is sure to be a wild ride over the next eight to 10 years, probably not. But if you're ultra-long on the cloud industry, you're still saving money and can plan to buy more Snowflake stock over time if the bull thesis plays out, maybe paying less than seven times sales projected into 2029 isn't such a bad idea.\nAt the very least, put this stock on your watchlist and do some more due diligence to flesh out whether or not you believe management's messaging. Since 1998, only 2019’s 17.4% first-half surge has been larger.</p>\n<p>The market got a boost from Covid-19 vaccinations, which have helped the U.S. economy reopen, while trillions of dollars of fiscal stimulus have helped shore up demand. The gains continued even as concerns about inflation have increased speculation that the Federal Reserve would be forced to take steps to slow the economy.</p>\n<p>The combination of big gains and a more hawkish Fed have raised concerns that the market has become too complacent. If inflation continues to run hot for long enough, the central bank could be forced to act more quickly than the market expects—and&nbsp;cause stocks to tumble. Others worry that&nbsp;U.S. economic growth could slow faster than investors anticipate, causing a pullback in the process.</p>\n<p>For those who take that view, there is no better time to back away from the stock market than the present. History suggests otherwise.</p>\n<p>Since 1979, the S&amp;P 500 has gained 10% or more 14 times during the first half of the year, and the index has gone on to average a 6.3% gain over the second half of the year. What’s more, the index finished the second half of the year higher In 11 of those instances, or 79% of the time.</p>\n<p>Even the losses, when they occurred, weren’t all that bad. The S&amp;P 500 dropped 1.9% in the second half of 1983 and 3.5% during the last six months of 1986.</p>\n<p>The one exception was the last six months of 1987 when the index fell 19% during the second half of the year. That period included Black Monday, when the S&amp;P 500 dropped 20% in one day, still a record loss. While selling linked to so-called&nbsp;portfolio insurance&nbsp;was ultimately blamed for the size and speed of the loss, the second half of 1987 was&nbsp;a period of rising bond yields and high stock-market valuations, just like the first half of 2021.</p>\n<p>Still, the market has been acting like it wants to go higher, not lower. Pullbacks, a normal event in the midst of bull runs, have been mild in 2021, with the largest drops being less than 4%. “What the [S&amp;P 500] has done throughout 2021 is pick itself up when and where it has needed to, maintaining an uptrend all along,” writes Frank&nbsp;Cappelleri, chief market technician at Instinet.</p>\n<p>That 6.3% average second-half rise would push the S&amp;P 500’s full-year gain to around 23%. Revenue in Q1 2021 notched a 110% year-over-year increase to $229 million, and full-year 2021 guidance is calling for a first-ever $1 billion in annual sales -- implying growth of no less than 84% from 2020. The company also anticipates reaching break-even on an adjusted free cash flow basis. Not bad at all, Snowflake.</p>\n<p>However, the rub for many investors is that the stock still trades for over 65 times full-year 2021 expected sales to enterprise value (market cap minus cash and equivalents). It's an incredible valuation, pricing in not just the expectation that the cloud computing industry will grow by double-digit percentages for the foreseeable future, but also that Snowflake's leading \"Data Cloud\" service will remain a leader among its peers in data management.</p>\n<p>Companies projecting growth too far into the future (and investors paying up for that growth and accepting a steep premium price tag) can be problematic. Business trends can change quickly, and competitors both old and new can present headaches for a company's growth trajectory. It thus comes as little surprise that Snowflake stock has been stuck in a volatile downward-trending line since its IPO last autumn.</p>\n<p>Snowflake is happy to oblige those who have been willing to take on the risk of buying, though. While most companies shy away from providing any sort of specific guidance beyond a year, not Snowflake. During its 2021 investor day presentation, it provided a product revenue goal all the way out to fiscal year 2029: $10 billion. If 2021 expectations for just over $1 billion transpire, the 2029 projection represents an average annual compound growth rate of over 33%, and it values the stock at under seven times 2029 sales.</p>\n<h2>A pie-in-the-sky goal?</h2>\n<p>Before you balk at such an ambitious very long-term projection, consider a few items. Cloud computing is a massive secular growth trend. Spending on cloud computing could reach $1 <i>trillion per year </i>by the end of this decade. And within the current greater cloud industry -- pegged at just over $330 billion in global spend this year by tech researcher <b>Gartner</b> -- application and infrastructure services (the corner of the cloud sandbox Snowflake is making snow angels in) are over one-third of the total spend.</p>\n<p>Put another way, this is a massive space, and Snowflake is indeed just one flake among a blizzard of cloud services out there.</p>\n<p>Cast in that light, $10 billion in sales in nearly a decade, in an industry that could soak up over a trillion dollars per year, suddenly doesn't seem so ambitious. In fact, Snowflake's goal could be downright achievable. And don't forget this company has nearly $4 billion in cash, another $1.2 billion in long-term investments, and no debt. That's quite the war chest it could deploy on new products or acquisitions -- making its long-term plan that much more easily within reach.</p>\n<p>The most pressing question, of course, is this: Is the stock a buy? If you need the money within a couple of years, or don't have the patience or temperament to wait out what is sure to be a wild ride over the next eight to 10 years, probably not. But if you're ultra-long on the cloud industry, you're still saving money and can plan to buy more Snowflake stock over time if the bull thesis plays out, maybe paying less than seven times sales projected into 2029 isn't such a bad idea.</p>\n<p>At the very least, put this stock on your watchlist and do some more due diligence to flesh out whether or not you believe management's messaging. The hydrogen fuel cell specialist put up a mighty display in 2020’s new energy enamored stock market, with the share gains coming free and easy. But earlier this year, the tables had turned as investors fled from growth stocks to more inflation-safe environs. What’s more, Plug Power ran into a mess of its own making. There was suddenly a lot of anxiousness around the company when an audit unearthed non-cash related errors while the company was getting its 10-K filing ready, after which it needed to refile fiscal 2018–2019 financial results along with some recent quarterly statements.\nWith the refiling now done, that overhang has been put to rest, and PLUG has belatedly posted its 1Q21 earnings. The results were a mixed bag, but following recent updates, investors already knew what was more or less in store. In fact, the market reacted favorably to the latest developments, which have also encouraged Evercore analyst James West.\nThe unveiling of General Motors as a new “pedestal/critical customer,” says West, should lead to “additional uptake throughout the automotive industry given the ringing endorsement from GM.”\nWhat’s more, the company teased investors with the prospect of a fifth “pedestal” customer, one West thinks will be revealed later this year and will join a client list that includes not only GM, but Amazon, Walmart and Home Depot. The addition, West believes, will further “drive the stock.”\nPLUG’s sales are also on the rise, although the company is still a way off being profitable. However, West is “not at all concerned with the lack of near-term profits.”\n“PLUG is clearly in growth mode, the path towards achieving greater scale is more solidified, and renewable hydrogen costs continue to fall,” the analyst said. “Long-term investors should take solace with PLUG’s runway after 2024 when the company will be generating +$2B of annual revenues and is no longer investing for the long-term.”\nAccordingly, West reiterated an Outperform (i.e., Buy) rating on PLUG stock backed by a $42 price target. While selling linked to so-called&nbsp;portfolio insurance&nbsp;was ultimately blamed for the size and speed of the loss, the second half of 1987 was&nbsp;a period of rising bond yields and high stock-market valuations, just like the first half of 2021.</p>\n<p>Still, the market has been acting like it wants to go higher, not lower. In Q1 2021, the company closed down 12.7% of its roughly 4,000 stores in operations. Despite this, it managed to grow its sales by 25% year-over-year to $1.277 billion.</p>\n<p>At the same time, GameStop's operating loss narrowed to $21.6 million from $98.8 million a year ago. Thanks to a once-in-a-lifetime short squeeze, the company was able to offer additional equity to pay back all its debt and start afresh. It currently has more than $700 million in cash and investments on its balance sheet.</p>\n<h2>The bad news</h2>\n<p>After the earnings release, GameStop shares fell by as much as 27% in a single trading session. In addition, the company announced it would issue up to five million additional shares over a period of time, representing a dilution of up to 7% to its 70 million shares outstanding.</p>\n<p>That aside, there's the major risk of lawsuits against those involved in the coordinated \"pump and dump\" activities of the WSB community. Reddit user profiles of these traders are pretty much public. In fact, lawsuits have already been filed against prominent members of the community for allegedly promoting GameStop while the stock was at \"artificially high levels\".</p>\n<p>On June 9, the SEC announced it was probing GameStop concerning recent trading activities. While the investigation is still in its infancy, WSB members are growing increasingly concerned about legal and privacy issues from the fallout. The agency could potentially subpoena popular platforms like Reddit to access personal information/identities of members regarding their roles in the run-up. I believe this rapidly spreading fear, especially among those who are \"holding-on-for-dear-life\" (HODLers), is responsible for the sell-off.</p>\n<h2>What's next?</h2>\n<p>The same community that propped up GameStop's stock in a greed-fueled frenzy is equally capable of sending the shares crashing if fear takes center stage. While the company is generating solid growth, the company has a negative free cash flow of about $33.5 million per quarter, including a net cash outflow of nearly $19 million in operating activites. It's a noticeable improvement from $55.9 million negative FCF last year -- but still isn't good news yet. GameStop sold investors on the dream of a turnaround into an e-commerce giant and now has to live up to its reputation.</p>\n<p>There is a lot of uncertainty as to how profitable the new GameStop could be. Maybe its net margins will improve to 5% to 10%; perhaps it will hover around 0%, perhaps it will keep running at a loss for quite some time. After all, its gross margins actually fell 1.8 percentage points to 25.9% in Q1. While the company is generating solid growth, the company has a negative free cash flow of about $33.5 million per quarter, including a net cash outflow of nearly $19 million in operating activites. It's a noticeable improvement from $55.9 million negative FCF last year -- but still isn't good news yet. GameStop sold investors on the dream of a turnaround into an e-commerce giant and now has to live up to its reputation.\nThere is a lot of uncertainty as to how profitable the new GameStop could be. At the top end of the range, Krispy Kreme would have a market value of $3.86 billion based on the outstanding shares listed in the filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.</p>\n<p>Amid photos of doughnuts dripping with sugary glaze and dotted with sprinkles, the company declares in the filing that its purpose is “to touch and enhance lives through the joy of Krispy Kreme.”</p>\n<p>Since its acquisition by Luxembourg-based conglomerate JAB in 2016, Krispy Kreme has expanded its online presence. Its e-commerce business now accounts for close to a fifth of sales in the U.S., fueled by its Insomnia Cookies delivery concept.</p>\n<p>Net revenue for the Charlotte, North Carolina-based chain rose 23% to $322 million in the quarter ended April 4, according to the filing.
