With both stocks valued at 21 times 2025 earnings, which is a better buy today?\n
\n
At first glance, Apple (AAPL) -Get Report and Amazon (AMZN) -Get Report stocks appeal to two distinct group of investors. The former, trading at 26 times current earnings, is a blend of value and growth, what some might call a GARP play. The latter, trading at 64 times EPS, is the highest growth of FAAMG names.
\n
But the Amazon Maven has unearthed an interesting finding. Both AAPL and AMZN are worth almost the same, in P/E terms, if one were to look forward to 2025. At comparable valuations, which is a better buy-and-hold through the mid-2020s?
\n
AAPL and AMZN: same valuation?
\n
The P/E multiple is a popular valuation metric that adds context to a stock’s market price. The numerator tends to be prior-year (trailing), current-year or next-year (forward) earnings per share.
\n
Amazon commands a higher multiple, among other reasons, because of the company’s more aggressive growth profile. Wall Street expects the e-commerce giant to increase EPS by a factor of four in the next five years. Apple, on the other hand, is project to “only” double earnings in the same period.
\n
By 2025, this is what analysts expect of each company’s bottom line, and what the stock’s P/E would be if share prices remained unchanged:
\n
\n
Amazon: 2025 EPS of $172.30, for a P/E of20.4times
\n
Apple: fiscal 2025 EPS of $6.30, for a P/E of21.2times
\n
\n
Given enough time and assuming that current earnings projections are close enough to accurate, Amazon tends to become a less aggressively valued stock by the year. Maybe one day, in the not-too-distant future, shares could even start to look more appealing to value investors.
\n
Which is the best bet?
\n
If Amazon and Apple are valued at roughly the same 2025 P/E, one fair question to ask is: which stock might perform best in the next five years? I can use the earnings multiple as a guide to think through this question.
\n
From the P/E formula, one can derive the following: future stock price is determined by the company’s earnings delivered (the denominator “E”) and how much investors are willing to pay for those earnings (the valuation multiple). Therefore, in the Amazon vs. Apple race to 2025, whichever does best at delivering EPS above consensus and/or commanding a richer earnings multiple wins.
\n
Clearly, this is open for debate since the future in uncertain. But I believe that Amazon stock has a better chance of producing higher gains than Apple through 2025.
\n
First, I find it highly unlikely that AMZN’s earnings multiple will converge from the 60s of today to the low 20s in 2025. This would only be feasible if the company’s growth opportunities dried out quickly, which I am not counting on. On the other hand, Apple’s P/E is more likely to stay around 20 to 25 times, given the more mature profile of the company relative to Amazon.
\n
This is not to say that I expect Amazon’s P/E to expand from 64 times. The opposite is more likely to happen, as the company ages. But if the stock is valued at, say, 40 times EPS in 2025, Amazon would not even need to deliver results beyond expectations to see its stock price double in five years.
\n
Regarding consensus, I also think that Amazon can beat expectations by a wider margin than Apple could. The e-commerce giant has been more aggressive at investing back in the business. The green- and brown-field revenue growth opportunities in e-commerce and cloud seem better.
\n
In addition, Amazon’s margins could expand substantially (see five-year trend below), if or once the company’s online retail business gets closer to maturity. Apple could also improve its margin profile but probably much less so, given how profitable the company already is.
\n
Figure 2: AMZN gross margin vs. operating margin.
\n
Stock Rover
\n
Twitter speaks
\n
Fun fact: Amazon and Apple stock trade at roughly the same 2025 P/E (i.e. 2025 earnings in the denominator) of around 21 times, even though AMZN seems much more expensive at today’s valuations. With both stocks valued at 21 times 2025 earnings, which is a better buy today?\n\nAt first glance, Apple (AAPL) -Get Report and Amazon (AMZN) -Get Report stocks appeal to two distinct group of investors. The former, trading at 26 times current earnings, is a blend of value and growth, what some might call a GARP play. The latter, trading at 64 times EPS, is the highest growth of FAAMG names.\nBut the Amazon Maven has unearthed an interesting finding. Both AAPL and AMZN are worth almost the same, in P/E terms, if one were to look forward to 2025. At comparable valuations, which is a better buy-and-hold through the mid-2020s?\nAAPL and AMZN: same valuation?\nThe P/E multiple is a popular valuation metric that adds context to a stock’s market price. The numerator tends to be prior-year (trailing), current-year or next-year (forward) earnings per share.\nAmazon commands a higher multiple, among other reasons, because of the company’s more aggressive growth profile. Wall Street expects the e-commerce giant to increase EPS by a factor of four in the next five years. The addition of ARM’s semiconductor IP portfolio should add another arrow to the quiver, especially when considering ARM’s large exposure to the mobile device market.\nSince the deal still needs to be approved by the U.S., UK., European and Chinese regulators, it is uncertain whether the acquisition will eventually go through. In fact, Evercore's C.J. Muse thinks investors have a downbeat view regarding the deal’s prospects.\n“We continue to think the market views the probability of a merger here as very low, which means there is very little of the benefit from ARM embedded in NVDA’s shares,” the 5-star analyst said. “Thus, we continue to view a successful completion of the ARM transaction as a free call option to investors.”\nIt’s not only Muse who is trying to convince investors they will benefit from the merger. Nvidia has been on the front foot trying to explain why an Nvidia/Arm pairing would ultimately benefit ARM’s customers and investors, alike.\nMuse laid out the pitch, explaining that as a data-oriented economy becomes more prevalent across the globe, increasingly sophisticated frameworks are continuing to sprout. And with each passing day, as the number of end applications gets pushed further ahead by this continuous innovation, it is “becoming more difficult for ARM to address these growth vectors on its own.”\n“That is why it needs NVDA,” says Muse “Who can offer a resource-rich platform of GPU/DPU hardware and an accelerated software stack – a great complementary to ARM’s world class portfolio of CPU IP.”\nWhat’s more, the cost of this technological innovation can be reduced, by ARM customers being able to leverage NVDA’s pre-built platform to “invest R&D dollars in more specialized tasks.”\nAs for the regulatory hurdles, Muse says Nvidia remains upbeat on gaining approval from all geographies, “in particular, the UK and China.”\nAs such, Nvidia remains a \"top pick\" for Muse, who has an Outperform (i.e. Buy) rating for the shares and a $750 price target. Muse might be an Nvidia bull, but his current price target implies shares will remain range-bound for the time being. (To watch Muse’ track record, click here)\nIt’s a similar story when looking at the rest of the Street’s Nvidia reviews. The analysts’ average price target is $740, indicating minimal downside for the shares over the next 12-months. However, somewhat confusingly, rating wise, almost all are positive. Barring one Hold, the stock’s Strong Buy consensus rating is based on 27 Buys. It will be interesting to see whether the analysts downgrade their ratings or upgrade price targets over the coming months. Perhaps some of your picks that were supposed to pay off in a big way just haven't. Things certainly look different from the inside looking out than they do from the outside looking in.
\n
The good news is, a few philosophical tweaks to your approach may be all you need to turns your results around. Here are the four biggest stumbling blocks too many investors -- particularly new investors -- must work past before they start making the sort of money they'd like to.
\n
Myth 1: The more active and involved I am, the more money I make
\n
The idea that \"more is better\" makes sense...at least on the surface. The more we study, the better grades we make. The more we practice, the better we get at a sport.
\n
When it comes to investing, however, less can be more. Trade less often, and you'll make more money.
\n
To understand why, think about exactly what you're investing in when you buy a stock. You're plugging into the company's long-term success, and it can take a long time to bear fruit. But, spotting long-term corporate success is actually pretty easy to do.
\n
If instead you're looking for a big short-term gain on a long-term story, your investment is actually a bet on how other investors will feel about a particular stock in the near future. It's not easy to predict future perceptions of an unprofitable or barely profitable company, which is why short-term trading is so difficult to do. Ironically, the more you try to trade your way to market-beating results, the worse off you typically end up.
\n
The point is, buy quality stocks and leave them alone. You don't have to check on them every day. Indeed, doing so increases the risk of making an ill-advised buy or sell.
\n
\n
Myth 2: The higher the risk, the greater the reward
\n
There was a time when taking on risk meant getting bigger rewards. But an increasing number of companies, investment banks, and insiders have proven this tenet to be false. Big stock price gains often come before a company's business model reaches its full potential, and that can raise risk levels without providing any additional reward.
\n
A name like GoPro (NASDAQ:GPRO) comes to mind. While no one denies it makes the world's very best action cameras, its stock price got ahead of itself in the early to mid-2010s. Yet when ongoing demand for action camera products didn't live up to expectations, investors paid the price. Even with the rally from its early 2020 lows, shares are still trading 90% below their 2014 peak price.
\n
And that's certainly not the only example of when the market didn't recognize the suggested or implied reward was never going to be realized.
\n
Myth 3: I have to pay someone a lot of money to manage my investments
\n
Actually, you don't.
\n
You can pay someone, of course. Money managers and brokerage firms' so-called wrap account will charge you on the order of 1% of your portfolio's value per year. Robo-advisors charge about half of that (or less) for smaller accounts, though there's very little personal customer service to such plans. Both solutions steer your investments, and for the most part, they do a pretty good job of balancing risk and reward.
\n
But with a little common sense and self-discipline, you can sidestep those fees and manage your own stock portfolio at little or no cost. Most of the reputable online brokers these days offer commission-free trading -- not that you should trade more often simply because it doesn't cost anything to do so.
\n
There's a lot to be said about picking your own stocks. Aside from learning by starting out conservatively and becoming more aggressive as you gain experience, you might be surprised to find you're doing better than most professionals do for their customers. In its most recent assessment of the industry, Standard & Poor's found that only about one-fourth of large cap mutual funds outperformed the S&P 500 over the course of the past five years. The other three-fourths trailed the S&P 500's performance.
\n
Myth 4: When I buy a stock, that money is given to the underlying company to grow its business
\n
Finally, although most veteran investors (and even newcomers) understand that an investment in a company isn't the transfer of funds from your account to that organization's coffers where it's then spent on growth initiatives. Rather, when you buy a stock -- say Procter & Gamble -- you're buying those shares of P&G from another investor who's more than willing to let go of their stake of the consumer staples giant at the agreed-upon market price. What do they know that you don't? Maybe nothing. Perhaps they're just ready to reduce their risk or take on more risk.
\n
There's a more important takeaway, however. That is, you can't completely ignore the inherent mispricing stemming from the ongoing auction process. Eventually, a stock is going to become severely overvalued or undervalued, translating into opportunity for you.
\n
Still, awareness of this backdrop shouldn't distract you from focusing on the long-term bigger picture. Understanding this inner working of the market will simply make you a better buy-and-hold investor.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
4 Stock Market Myths to Abandon if You Actually Want to Make Money
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n4 Stock Market Myths to Abandon if You Actually Want to Make Money\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-07-29 21:15 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Has the stock market not behaved quite as you expected? Here are the four biggest stumbling blocks too many investors -- particularly new investors -- must work past before they start making the sort of money they'd like to.\nMyth 1: The more active and involved I am, the more money I make\nThe idea that \"more is better\" makes sense...at least on the surface. The more we study, the better grades we make. The more we practice, the better we get at a sport.\nWhen it comes to investing, however, less can be more. Trade less often, and you'll make more money.\nTo understand why, think about exactly what you're investing in when you buy a stock. You're plugging into the company's long-term success, and it can take a long time to bear fruit. But, spotting long-term corporate success is actually pretty easy to do.\nIf instead you're looking for a big short-term gain on a long-term story, your investment is actually a bet on how other investors will feel about a particular stock in the near future. It's not easy to predict future perceptions of an unprofitable or barely profitable company, which is why short-term trading is so difficult to do. Ironically, the more you try to trade your way to market-beating results, the worse off you typically end up.\nThe point is, buy quality stocks and leave them alone. You don't have to check on them every day. Indeed, doing so increases the risk of making an ill-advised buy or sell.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nMyth 2: The higher the risk, the greater the reward\nThere was a time when taking on risk meant getting bigger rewards. But an increasing number of companies, investment banks, and insiders have proven this tenet to be false. Big stock price gains often come before a company's business model reaches its full potential, and that can raise risk levels without providing any additional reward.\nA name like GoPro (NASDAQ:GPRO) comes to mind. While no one denies it makes the world's very best action cameras, its stock price got ahead of itself in the early to mid-2010s. Yet when ongoing demand for action camera products didn't live up to expectations, investors paid the price. Even with the rally from its early 2020 lows, shares are still trading 90% below their 2014 peak price.\nAnd that's certainly not the only example of when the market didn't recognize the suggested or implied reward was never going to be realized.\nMyth 3: I have to pay someone a lot of money to manage my investments\nActually, you don't.\nYou can pay someone, of course. Money managers and brokerage firms' so-called wrap account will charge you on the order of 1% of your portfolio's value per year. Robo-advisors charge about half of that (or less) for smaller accounts, though there's very little personal customer service to such plans. Both solutions steer your investments, and for the most part, they do a pretty good job of balancing risk and reward.\nBut with a little common sense and self-discipline, you can sidestep those fees and manage your own stock portfolio at little or no cost. Most of the reputable online brokers these days offer commission-free trading -- not that you should trade more often simply because it doesn't cost anything to do so.\nThere's a lot to be said about picking your own stocks. The other three-fourths trailed the S&P 500's performance.\nMyth 4: When I buy a stock, that money is given to the underlying company to grow its business\nFinally, although most veteran investors (and even newcomers) understand that an investment in a company isn't the transfer of funds from your account to that organization's coffers where it's then spent on growth initiatives. Rather, when you buy a stock -- say Procter & Gamble -- you're buying those shares of P&G from another investor who's more than willing to let go of their stake of the consumer staples giant at the agreed-upon market price. What do they know that you don't? Maybe nothing. Perhaps they're just ready to reduce their risk or take on more risk.\nThere's a more important takeaway, however. That is, you can't completely ignore the inherent mispricing stemming from the ongoing auction process. Eventually, a stock is going to become severely overvalued or undervalued, translating into opportunity for you.\nStill, awareness of this backdrop shouldn't distract you from focusing on the long-term bigger picture. Understanding this inner working of the market will simply make you a better buy-and-hold investor.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":232,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":174717696,"gmtCreate":1627139112615,"gmtModify":1633767693653,"author":{"id":"4087168977251800","authorId":"4087168977251800","name":"Junjunbiceps","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e18171325e7ad23ea482573ac7ff86b3","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087168977251800","authorIdStr":"4087168977251800"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Sad","listText":"Sad","text":"Sad","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/174717696","repostId":"1109439356","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1109439356","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1627096841,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1109439356?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-24 11:20","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Musk Tweets That Tesla Will Share Its Charging Network. In 34 of those states, the rate of new cases increased by more than 50%.\nThe rise of infections through the variant is coming at an inopportune time: The economy is still not back to normal, and the resurgence of infections could keep people from fully participating in the economy.\n\"While most consumers appear to be comfortable returning to high-contact services, some are still hesitant,\" said Walker. \"They are likely to remain cautious for now as the spread of the Delta variant keeps Covid fears alive, delaying a full recovery.\"\nAt the same time, Goldman's economists believe the Delta variant's impact on the economy will be somewhat limited: \"Appetite for new government-mandated restrictions appears low; early state-level evidence shows little impact on consumer spending so far; and the virus situation already appears to be improving in the United Kingdom and other countries where it spread earliest,\" Walker wrote.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":309,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":174717476,"gmtCreate":1627139176895,"gmtModify":1633767693287,"author":{"id":"4087168977251800","authorId":"4087168977251800","name":"Junjunbiceps","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e18171325e7ad23ea482573ac7ff86b3","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4087168977251800","authorIdStr":"4087168977251800"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/174717476","repostId":"1124707956","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1124707956","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1627053121,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1124707956?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-23 23:12","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Hedge Funds Dump The Rally After Buying The Dip","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1124707956","media":"zerohedge","summary":"One can't say that Goldman's clients have too much faith in Goldman's trade recos. As Goldman's flow trader John Flood was urging clients on Monday \"not to buy this dip\", they did just that and on Monday Goldman's Prime Brokerage service observed a surge in hedge fund dip buying as the S&P tumbled as low as 4,220. Following itsmarket debuton Sept, 30, the shares hit a record high of $45 on Jan. 27. PLTR stock is currently at $22.50, around 50% off its peak.
\n
Understandably, investors have been concerned with the recent rapid decline in price. Many believe the company has visionary leadership and powerful secular growth trends. Its proprietary technology for predictive analytics has brought growth in customer numbers.
\n
Yet, the price action has been volatile. If you are a buy-and-hold investor, you could consider the current levels as an opportunity to go long.
\n
Here’s why.
\n
PLTR Stock Is A Growth Name
\n
Denver-based Palantir was founded in 2003 by Peter Thiel, the co-founder of PayPal(NASDAQ:PYPL), to provide solutions for managing and securing data at massive scales. The company builds and deploys two main software platforms.
\n
The first one is Palantir Gotham, which focuses on the government intelligence and defense agencies. The other is Palantir Foundry, which is used by leading companies from energy, transportation, financial services and health care sectors. Additionally, it offers Palantir Apollo, the continuous delivery software that powers SaaS platforms, Foundry and Gotham, in the public cloud.
\n
Since its early days, Palantir has been considered a controversial company, mainly due to agreements initially made with government agenciessuch as the CIA. Yet, its recent contracts showed the company could easily expand into broader commercial markets. In the last four quarters, Palantir increased the number of its customers from 125 to 149.
\n
The group had previously made data management agreements with several big companies such as Scuderia Ferrari,Airbus(OTCMKTS:EADSY),Rio Tinto(NYSE:RIO), and IBM (NYSE:IBM). Most recently Foundry for Builders was launched to support the growth of early-stage companies including startups Chapter,Hence AI,Adyton and Gecko Robotics. Moreover,it beganaccepting Bitcoin(CCC:BTC-USD) as payment and may also invest in the cryptocurrency.
\n
Management also highlights it offers services for humanitarian purposes, such as the World Food Program meand combating Covid-19.In late 2020 and early 2021, Palantir cooperated with the Greek government and England’s National Health Service to improve their response to the pandemic. In June, PLTR was named by Amazon(NASDAQ:AMZN) as a 2021 Global AWS Partner Network (APN) Public Sector Partner Award winner in its work to fight against Covid-19.
\n
How Recent Earnings Came
\n
According to Q1 2021 financials of Palantir, which were released on May 11, revenues totaled $341 million, growing 49% year-over-year. The net loss was $123.5 million compared to a loss of $54.3 million a year ago. Adjusted diluted EPS was 4 cents versus a loss per share of 1 cent same quarter prior year. Cash flow from operations stood at $117 million and adjusted free cash flow was $151 million, up 44%.
\n
Palantir has proven its sustainability and potential for higher growth.Only in the last couple of months, PLTR won a $111 million contract from the U.S. Special Operations Command. It also expanded its Space Force partnership with a new $32.5 million contract and made a $7.4 million contract renewal with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
\n
The Federal Aviation Administration contracted the company for support in aircraft certification and continued operational safety. Finally, management teamed up with DataRobot to develop AI demand forecasting solutions.
\n
So far this year,PLTRshares are down 4%. The company’sconsensus forward price-earnings (P/E) ratiois 166x. The stock trades at 33x its current sales. And its price-to-book (P/B) ratio stands at 22x. These ratios imply a rich valuation. Currently, 12-month price targets for the shares range from $17 to $30.
\n
Bottom Line on PLTR Stock
\n
PLTR is a growth stock and the recentfinancials showed it could soon turn into a profitable company. Management will release second quarter financial results on Aug. 10. Wall Street will want to see growth, both in revenue and number of customers.
\n
If Palantir is on right track, then investors are likely to hit the “buy” button. But if the Street has concerns over the metrics, then it could be another volatile August for PLTR stock. Long-term investors could consider buying the dips, especially toward $20, and remain long-term regardless of daily fluctuations.
\n
Finally, investors who want to hedge their bets could also consider an exchange-traded fund that holds PLTR stock in their portfolio. Following itsmarket debuton Sept, 30, the shares hit a record high of $45 on Jan. 27. PLTR stock is currently at $22.50, around 50% off its peak.\nUnderstandably, investors have been concerned with the recent rapid decline in price. Many believe the company has visionary leadership and powerful secular growth trends. Its proprietary technology for predictive analytics has brought growth in customer numbers.\nYet, the price action has been volatile. If you are a buy-and-hold investor, you could consider the current levels as an opportunity to go long.\nHere’s why.\nPLTR Stock Is A Growth Name\nDenver-based Palantir was founded in 2003 by Peter Thiel, the co-founder of PayPal(NASDAQ:PYPL), to provide solutions for managing and securing data at massive scales. The company builds and deploys two main software platforms.\nThe first one is Palantir Gotham, which focuses on the government intelligence and defense agencies. The other is Palantir Foundry, which is used by leading companies from energy, transportation, financial services and health care sectors. Additionally, it offers Palantir Apollo, the continuous delivery software that powers SaaS platforms, Foundry and Gotham, in the public cloud.\nSince its early days, Palantir has been considered a controversial company, mainly due to agreements initially made with government agenciessuch as the CIA. Yet, its recent contracts showed the company could easily expand into broader commercial markets. In the last four quarters, Palantir increased the number of its customers from 125 to 149.\nThe group had previously made data management agreements with several big companies such as Scuderia Ferrari,Airbus(OTCMKTS:EADSY),Rio Tinto(NYSE:RIO), and IBM (NYSE:IBM). Most recently Foundry for Builders was launched to support the growth of early-stage companies including startups Chapter,Hence AI,Adyton and Gecko Robotics. Moreover,it beganaccepting Bitcoin(CCC:BTC-USD) as payment and may also invest in the cryptocurrency.\nManagement also highlights it offers services for humanitarian purposes, such as the World Food Program meand combating Covid-19.In late 2020 and early 2021, Palantir cooperated with the Greek government and England’s National Health Service to improve their response to the pandemic. In June, PLTR was named by Amazon(NASDAQ:AMZN) as a 2021 Global AWS Partner Network (APN) Public Sector Partner Award winner in its work to fight against Covid-19.\nHow Recent Earnings Came\nAccording to Q1 2021 financials of Palantir, which were released on May 11, revenues totaled $341 million, growing 49% year-over-year. The net loss was $123.5 million compared to a loss of $54.3 million a year ago. Adjusted diluted EPS was 4 cents versus a loss per share of 1 cent same quarter prior year. Cash flow from operations stood at $117 million and adjusted free cash flow was $151 million, up 44%.\nPalantir has proven its sustainability and potential for higher growth.Only in the last couple of months, PLTR won a $111 million contract from the U.S. Special Operations Command. It also expanded its Space Force partnership with a new $32.5 million contract and made a $7.4 million contract renewal with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.\nThe Federal Aviation Administration contracted the company for support in aircraft certification and continued operational safety. Finally, management teamed up with DataRobot to develop AI demand forecasting solutions.\nSo far this year,PLTRshares are down 4%. The company’sconsensus forward price-earnings (P/E) ratiois 166x. The stock trades at 33x its current sales. And its price-to-book (P/B) ratio stands at 22x. These ratios imply a rich valuation. Currently, 12-month price targets for the shares range from $17 to $30.\nBottom Line on PLTR Stock\nPLTR is a growth stock and the recentfinancials showed it could soon turn into a profitable company. Management will release second quarter financial results on Aug. 10. Wall Street will want to see growth, both in revenue and number of customers.\nIf Palantir is on right track, then investors are likely to hit the “buy” button. But if the Street has concerns over the metrics, then it could be another volatile August for PLTR stock. Long-term investors could consider buying the dips, especially toward $20, and remain long-term regardless of daily fluctuations.\nFinally, investors who want to hedge their bets could also consider an exchange-traded fund that holds PLTR stock in their portfolio. The former, trading at 26 times current earnings, is a blend of value and growth, what some might call a GARP play. The latter, trading at 64 times EPS, is the highest growth of FAAMG names.
\n
But the Amazon Maven has unearthed an interesting finding.
