competition on its App Store, reasons CEO Tim Cook gave for not allowing users to install software from outside the Store.
\n
Vestager, who is also the European Commission's executive vice president, last year proposed rules called the Digital Markets Act (DMA) that would force Apple to open up its lucrative App Store so that users can download apps from the internet or third-party app stores in a practice known as side-loading.
\n
Cook, speaking at an event last month, said the proposal would destroy the security and privacy of iPhones.read more
\n
Vestager said she shares Cook's security concerns.
\n
\"I think privacy and security is of paramount importance to everyone,\" Vestager told Reuters in an interview.
\n
\"The important thing here is, of course, that it's not a shield against competition, because I think customers will not give up neither security nor privacy if they use another app store or if they sideload,\" she said.
\n
Vestager indicated that she was open to changes in her proposal, which needs input from EU countries and EU lawmakers before it can become law.
\n
\"I think that it is possible to find solutions to this,\" she said.
\n
Vestager also said Apple's privacy changes, unlike Google's plan to block a popular web tracking tool called \"cookies\" which formed part of her investigation into the Alphabet unit's digital advertising business opened last month, were not in her crosshairs for now.
\n
Apple rolled out an update of its iOS operating system in April with new privacy controls designed to limit digital advertisers from tracking iPhone users.
\n
\"As I have said, I think actually several times, that it is a good thing when providers give us the service that we can easily set our preferences if we want to be tracked outside the use of an app or not as long as it's the same condition for everyone. The company has criticized Apple’s policies in the past, specifically Apple’s policy of taking a share of revenue from Microsoft apps purchased through the Apple App Store.
\n
More recently, Microsoft sparred with Apple over its desire to get its xCloud cloud gaming platform onto the iPhone via a native app. Apple has pushed back, hampering Microsoft’s cloud gaming ambitions and forcing it to make users rely on a browser-style app.
\n
That led Microsoft to meet and lodge a complaint with members of the House Antitrust Subcommittee during the body’s investigation into Apple, Google, Amazon, and Facebook.
\n
Microsoft has debuted the latest version of its Windows operating system: Windows 11. (Image: Microsoft)Microsoft
\n
Microsoft also took aim at Apple in the iPhone maker’s battle with “Fortnite” developer Epic Games. In that instance, Microsoft filed a statement of support for Epic in its fight to prevent Apple withholding iOS support for Epic’s Unreal Engine.
\n
Epic initially sued Apple and Google after the two companies removed “Fornite” from their respective app stores. Apple and Google argue that Epic implemented an update that added a separate payment system allowing consumers to circumvent Apple or Google’s payment services. That effectively cut out Apple and Google’s 30% app store fees.
\n
Epic’s fight with Apple wrapped up earlier this month and a ruling is expected before the end of the summer.
\n
Microsoft could win over developers
\n
With its decision to allow developers to use their own payment systems, Microsoft is sending a signal to the global developer community that it is willing to play by their rules. That could help the company as it seeks to build out its app store and drive more business for Windows.
\n
While Microsoft was caught flat-footed in the smartphone wars, its moves with the Windows 11 Microsoft Store could give it the kind of boost from developers that it needs to begin taking market share from Apple and Google in the fight for app store supremacy. The company has criticized Apple’s policies in the past, specifically Apple’s policy of taking a share of revenue from Microsoft apps purchased through the Apple App Store.\nMore recently, Microsoft sparred with Apple over its desire to get its xCloud cloud gaming platform onto the iPhone via a native app. Apple has pushed back, hampering Microsoft’s cloud gaming ambitions and forcing it to make users rely on a browser-style app.\nThat led Microsoft to meet and lodge a complaint with members of the House Antitrust Subcommittee during the body’s investigation into Apple, Google, Amazon, and Facebook.\nMicrosoft has debuted the latest version of its Windows operating system: Windows 11. (Image: Microsoft)Microsoft\nMicrosoft also took aim at Apple in the iPhone maker’s battle with “Fortnite” developer Epic Games. In that instance, Microsoft filed a statement of support for Epic in its fight to prevent Apple withholding iOS support for Epic’s Unreal Engine.\nEpic initially sued Apple and Google after the two companies removed “Fornite” from their respective app stores. Apple and Google argue that Epic implemented an update that added a separate payment system allowing consumers to circumvent Apple or Google’s payment services. That effectively cut out Apple and Google’s 30% app store fees.\nEpic’s fight with Apple wrapped up earlier this month and a ruling is expected before the end of the summer.\nMicrosoft could win over developers\nWith its decision to allow developers to use their own payment systems, Microsoft is sending a signal to the global developer community that it is willing to play by their rules. That could help the company as it seeks to build out its app store and drive more business for Windows.\nWhile Microsoft was caught flat-footed in the smartphone wars, its moves with the Windows 11 Microsoft Store could give it the kind of boost from developers that it needs to begin taking market share from Apple and Google in the fight for app store supremacy. It’s now up to Apple and Google to respond.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":219,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":125027668,"gmtCreate":1624637603954,"gmtModify":1631884927847,"author":{"id":"3586644128252666","authorId":"3586644128252666","name":"cheesetofuho","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d8dfe25069d4a5f08a03f88a5724b409","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3586644128252666","idStr":"3586644128252666"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Torchlight Energy Resources(TRCH)$nice","listText":"$Torchlight Energy Resources(TRCH)$nice","text":"$Torchlight Energy Resources(TRCH)$nice","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/be87603d67a59cc5ee1931535811a8b5","width":"1440","height":"2560"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/125027668","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":241,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":141801126,"gmtCreate":1625844552865,"gmtModify":1631884923643,"author":{"id":"3586644128252666","authorId":"3586644128252666","name":"cheesetofuho","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d8dfe25069d4a5f08a03f88a5724b409","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3586644128252666","idStr":"3586644128252666"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Meta Materials Inc.(MMAT)$drop drop like grapes","listText":"$Meta Materials Inc.(MMAT)$drop drop like grapes","text":"$Meta Materials Inc.(MMAT)$drop drop like grapes","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/0492bf9cd13f20749e99c37815eb57b8","width":"1440","height":"2560"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/141801126","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":195,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":811575866,"gmtCreate":1630334058555,"gmtModify":1704958693737,"author":{"id":"3586644128252666","authorId":"3586644128252666","name":"cheesetofuho","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d8dfe25069d4a5f08a03f88a5724b409","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3586644128252666","idStr":"3586644128252666"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Meta Materials Inc.(MMAT)$woo","listText":"$Meta Materials Inc.(MMAT)$woo","text":"$Meta Materials Inc.(MMAT)$woo","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2ac76f1f87bf5fa83c233b60bbccb0b7","width":"1440","height":"2560"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/811575866","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":208,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":158053853,"gmtCreate":1625115523372,"gmtModify":1631890119175,"author":{"id":"3586644128252666","authorId":"3586644128252666","name":"cheesetofuho","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d8dfe25069d4a5f08a03f88a5724b409","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3586644128252666","idStr":"3586644128252666"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/158053853","repostId":"1105166793","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1105166793","pubTimestamp":1625111248,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1105166793?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-01 11:47","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Chipmakers Micron, AMD Become Top WallStreetBets Interests Alongside Clover Health, SoFi","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1105166793","media":"Benzinga","summary":"Chipmakers Micron Technology Inc. and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. have joined Clover Health Investments Corp. and SoFi Technologies Inc. as the stocks seeing the highest interest on Reddit’s r/WallStreetBets forum. What Happened: Micron emerged as the most-discussed stock on the forum with 525 mentions and was followed by medical insurance technology company Clover Health with 495 mentions during the last 24 hours at press time, data from Quiver Quantitative showed.AMD took the third spot with 4","content":"
Chipmakers Micron Technology Inc.(NASDAQ:MU) and Advanced Micro Devices Inc.
