Some megacap stocks trade at substantially higher multiples relative to their free cash flow (FCF) than Apple does. If Apple can close the gap and command a similar premium, multiple expansion alone could help the stock rise substantially.

Consider that Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) trades at 42 times its free cash flow. Apple, meanwhile, trades at only 31 times its FCF. Apple's stock price would have to rise 35% for its FCF valuation multiple to match Microsoft's. This alone would put the company's market capitalization at about $4 trillion.

There is actually a good case for Apple stock's valuation to see multiple expansion in the coming years: The tech giant's services business, which is a more reliable revenue source than its products, is growing as a percentage of Apple's total business. With a more predictable and reliable revenue source (that appears to still have lots of upside) increasingly driving Apple's growth, investors may start rewarding the stock with higher valuation multiples. In fiscal 2021, Apple's services revenue was 19% of revenue, up from less than 18% of revenue two years ago and 15% three years ago.

But even without this much multiple expansion, strong fundamentals could lift Apple shares meaningfully in 2022 and beyond. Consider that the company is seeing strong double-digit revenue growth recently, with record fiscal fourth-quarter revenue across every geographic and product segment. Specifically, Apple's fiscal fourth-quarter revenue came in at $83.4 billion, up from $64.7 billion in the year-ago quarter. But management estimates that revenue for the period would have been $6 billion higher if it weren't for supply constraints during the period.

Suffice to say, Apple's business is firing on all cylinders. With momentum in every geographic and product segment, it wouldn't be surprising to see double-digit growth rates in the company's revenue and free cash flow in fiscal 2022, providing solid substance for more share gains.

Expect a bumpy ride

While it is possible that Apple's market capitalization swells to $4 trillion before the end of 2022, there are no guarantees in investing. Even if everything goes well for Apple as a business, the stock itself could do poorly in the near term. Sometimes, for one reason or another, stocks fall in and out of favor. So even though shares appear undervalued today, the stock could fall before it rises.

And there's always a chance that Apple sees multiple compression instead of multiple expansion. While Apple's business fundamentals appear worthy of a Microsoft-like premium, the company's shares have usually traded at a discount to Microsoft's in terms of valuation multiples because Microsoft's business model is considered to be more sustainable and less dependent on blockbuster product hits like new iPhones. Apple notably also makes more than half of its sales from a single product: the iPhone. Its heavy reliance on a single product segment generally makes Wall Street view the stock as risker than Microsoft, which has a business primarily made up of recurring revenue from various software and services sources.

But given Apple's long history of pricing power, loyal customers, and an ability to bring to market products in entirely new categories every now and then, the tech company will likely keep succeeding -- and its market cap could march toward $4 trillion.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Could Apple's Market Cap Hit $4 Trillion in 2022?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nCould Apple's Market Cap Hit $4 Trillion in 2022?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-12-31 23:30 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Shares of technology giant Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) soared in 2021. Despite this broad drop in tech companies, many businesses are seeing strong success operationally. The share prices are sinking, but these companies continue to grow their top-line and establish their leadership roles in their respective industries.

Both UiPath (NYSE:PATH) and Twilio (NYSE:TWLO) are in this boat. Shares of both tech stocks have fallen 35% and nearly 30%, respectively, despite strong growth across their businesses. With large markets ahead of them, I think today's prices could be optimal buying opportunities to get these innovative stocks at a bargain.

1. UiPath: Bringing AI to the enterprise

We have all been doing something so tedious and repetitive at work that we wish we could simply have it magically completed. It is, after all, a huge waste of our time because we would rather work on more thought-intensive, engaging work. With artificial intelligence-powered virtual bots, UiPath is turning our wishes into commands.

The company offers automation software that can emulate a human by understanding what is on a screen, extracting data, and making critical decisions. However, this software can do it much faster than humans, making 58% fewer mistakes. UiPath uses robotic process automation (RPA) in tandem with humans to make businesses more efficient. With UiPath, real workers are not fired or eliminated but rather freed to work on more critical tasks. UiPath has saved some of its customers millions of hours and dollars, which is why over 9,600 customers use UiPath and are currently spending 44% more than they did one year ago.

The stock has not fallen because of bad operational performance. The company has brought in $602.5 million in revenue so far this year, 50% higher than the year-ago period. Shares have taken a downturn because of the major uptick in the company's net loss. In the third quarter, the company lost almost $123 million -- more than the total net loss for the first nine months of 2020. This has been because UiPath has rapidly ramped up its spending on advertising, along with research and development.

This is not without good reason, however. The company projects that its addressable market will nearly double to $30 billion by 2024. UiPath is already the industry leader in RPA, according to Gartner's Magic Quadrant, but the company is ramping up spending to make sure its competitors like Automation Anywhere do not overtake them. With the RPA market growing so rapidly over the next few years, UiPath is spending now -- rather successfully -- to obtain brand recognition as the industry begins to explode.

Here's the bottom line: UiPath is the leader in a futuristic industry that is expected to grow rapidly over the next few years. With so much investment going toward capturing this growth, along with a dominant product that has caught the eyes of NASA and Alphabet, I think that today's share prices are a gift to long-term investors.

2. Twilio: Falling victim to the tech sell-off

With over 250,000 businesses using Twilio, most of us have used its technology without even recognizing it. Anyone who has ever communicated with a food delivery driver or Lyft driver has used Twilio's services unknowingly. The company is helping other enterprises communicate within apps, allowing consumers and businesses to connect easier. These services seem to have grown even more important for Twilio's users as they are now spending 31% more today than they did one year ago with the company.

Twilio posted year-over-year revenue growth of 65% in Q3, but some of that came from its acquisitions. Although the company has consistently been able to post impressive organic growth -- something most growth-by-acquisition companies lack. In Q3, the company's revenue improved 38% year over year organically, and it has been able to organically boost its top line by 34% or more year over year for the past nine quarters.

Shares have largely been sent downward in 2021, and Twilio's major net losses haven't been helping. The company lost $224 million in Q3, with almost $170 million of that being stock-based compensation. While this might be worrisome today, it is overshadowed by the impressive top-line growth that the company is seeing, both organically and inorganically, in this lucrative market. At 17 times sales, this stock is trading at levels not seen since mid-2020, leaving an opportunistic window for investors.

The use of in-app communication will only become more prevalent as the world continues to adopt these habits, and Twilio has been and will likely continue benefiting from it. With large markets ahead of them, I think today's prices could be optimal buying opportunities to get these innovative stocks at a bargain.Image source: Getty Images.1. UiPath: Bringing AI to the enterpriseWe have all been doing something so tedious and repetitive at work that we wish we could simply have it magically completed. UiPath has saved some of its customers millions of hours and dollars, which is why over 9,600 customers use UiPath and are currently spending 44% more than they did one year ago.The stock has not fallen because of bad operational performance.

Twilio's future is bright, which is why I think investors should consider taking advantage of these low stock prices today.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
2 No-Brainer Stocks Down 27% to 35% to Buy for 2022
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n2 No-Brainer Stocks Down 27% to 35% to Buy for 2022\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-01-02 09:09 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
While the stock market at large is hitting all-time highs, many technology stocks have been getting hammered in 2021. UiPath has saved some of its customers millions of hours and dollars, which is why over 9,600 customers use UiPath and are currently spending 44% more than they did one year ago.The stock has not fallen because of bad operational performance. With so much investment going toward capturing this growth, along with a dominant product that has caught the eyes of NASA and Alphabet, I think that today's share prices are a gift to long-term investors.2. Twilio: Falling victim to the tech sell-offWith over 250,000 businesses using Twilio, most of us have used its technology without even recognizing it. Anyone who has ever communicated with a food delivery driver or Lyft driver has used Twilio's services unknowingly. The company is helping other enterprises communicate within apps, allowing consumers and businesses to connect easier. These services seem to have grown even more important for Twilio's users as they are now spending 31% more today than they did one year ago with the company.Twilio posted year-over-year revenue growth of 65% in Q3, but some of that came from its acquisitions. Although the company has consistently been able to post impressive organic growth -- something most growth-by-acquisition companies lack. In Q3, the company's revenue improved 38% year over year organically, and it has been able to organically boost its top line by 34% or more year over year for the past nine quarters.Shares have largely been sent downward in 2021, and Twilio's major net losses haven't been helping. Twilio's future is bright, which is why I think investors should consider taking advantage of these low stock prices today.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1184,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":692540782,"gmtCreate":1641095902796,"gmtModify":1641095902905,"author":{"id":"3585103748724505","authorId":"3585103748724505","name":"Ccccxxxx","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1d361d0e532d71f329ed4684417eeba9","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3585103748724505","authorIdStr":"3585103748724505"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow","listText":"Wow","text":"Wow","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/692540782","repostId":"1114332157","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1114332157","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Dow Jones publishes the world’s most trusted business news and financial information in a variety of media.","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Dow Jones","id":"106","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/150f88aa4d182df19190059f4a365e99"},"pubTimestamp":1640995557,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1114332157?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2022-01-01 08:05","market":"us","language":"en","title":"U.S. Stocks End Lower on New Year’s Eve, but S&P 500, Dow, Nasdaq Score Big Gains for 2021","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1114332157","media":"Dow Jones","summary":"S&P 500 gains about 27% this year, its best yearly advance since 2019.Major U.S. stock indexes close","content":"

S&P 500 gains about 27% this year, its best yearly advance since 2019.

Major U.S. stock indexes closed lower Friday, as risk appetite waned on New Year’s Eve, but the S&P 500, Dow Jones Industrial Average and Nasdaq Composite all closed out the month, quarter and year with gains despite the pandemic.

How did stock benchmarks trade?

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 59.78 points, or 0.2%, to close at 36,338.30.

The S&P 500 SPX slipped 12.55 points, or 0.3%, to finish at 4,766.18.

The Nasdaq Composite Index dropped 96.59 points, or 0.6%, to end at 15,644.97.

On Thursday, the Dow closed down 90.55 points, or 0.3%, to 36,398.08, the S&P 500 index fell 14.33 points, or 0.3%, to close at 4,778.73, the Nasdaq Composite Index declined 24.65 points to 15,741.56, a 0.2% loss.

For the week, the Dow logged a 1.1% gain, the S&P 500 rose 0.9% and the Nasdaq shed about 0.1%. All three benchmarks also booked gains for the fourth quarter, with the Dow climbing 7.4%, the S&P 500 jumping 10.7% and the Nasdaq advancing 8.3%.For 2021, the S&P 500 soared 26.9%, beating both the Nasdaq’s 21.4% rise and the Dow’s 18.7% climb. What drove the market?Major U.S. stock indexes fell in the final trading session of the year, as market participants closed out their trading logs for 2021, but the S&P 500 and Dow remained less 1% off their record highs. They also scored their best yearly gains since 2019, before the pandemic disrupted daily life across the globe.“Today should be a relatively quiet day,” said Matthew Bartolini, head of SPDR Americas Research at State Street Global Advisors, in a phone interview Friday morning. Trading is thin, he said, with “more market movements” potentially coming toward the end of the day as investors closed out their positions for the year.Thinner holiday volumes meant potential choppiness in the action in the final session of 2021, following a strong start to the past week of December, as investors assessed the path ahead for markets, a path that has been colored by a global pandemic that already has lasted about two years.Despite recent dips, both the Dow and the S&P 500 posted record-high closes this week, with the rise for equities supported by the belief that disruptions from the omicron variant that causes COVID-19 won’t be lasting. The seven-day average of COVID-19 cases in the U.S. has risen at a parabolic pace to 344,543 on Thursday, up from 301,477 on Wednesday, which is up about fourfold since Dec. 1 and 37% above the January 2021 daily peak of 251,232, according to a New York Times tracker. The money-center bank run by Jamie Dimon is “allowing for more flexibility during the first two weeks of January to work from home (if your role allows) at your manager’s discretion,” Bloomberg reported, citing a Thursday memo to employees. However, in South Africa, where the omicron variant of COVID was first identified, the government said the country’s latest viral wave had subsided and it would be easing restrictions. In the U.S., while daily COVID cases soared to a record high, the CDC said that hospitalizations or deaths as a result of omicron are comparatively low. And White House medical expert Anthony Fauci has said that he is expecting the omicron outbreak to peak by the end of January. There was no U.S. economic data scheduled for release due to the New Year’s Eve holiday and the bond market closed an hour earlier at 2 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday. The U.S. stock market’s strong performance in 2021 has been driven by corporate earnings growth, said State Street’s Bartolini, with the S&P 500 index scoring a third straight year of double-digit gains.“I think everyone just kinda wants to close out the year on a good note,” he said. “Market returns aside, it’s been quite a turbulent year.”Which companies were in focus?Advanced Micro Devices Inc.

Plug Power reportedbetter-than-expected revenue, allowing the stock to jump higher on the day.
\n
While the stock was up nicely in the session, sharesweren’t exactly off to the racesin premarket trading. That's likely as the company's losses widened.
\n
This stock has been all over the place, but most recently it’s been under pressure.
\n
Plug Power rallied alongside NIO (NIO) -Get Report, Tesla (TSLA) -Get Report and other EV stocks. The ramp in GameStop (GME) -Get Report and AMC Entertainment (AMC) -Get Report didn’t hurt either.
\n
But the relentless buying eventually caught up with speculators as Plug Power was obliterated.
\n
Shares fell more than 75% from the peak in January to the low in May. As it tries to turn the corner now, let’s take a closer look at the stock.
\n
Daily chart of Plug Power stock. Chart courtesy of TrendSpider.com
\n
Ahead of earnings, Plug Power stock was giving mixed signals. It was below the 200-day moving average, while the 10-day and 21-day moving averages were acting as resistance.
\n
On the flip side, the 50-day and 50-week moving averages were acting as support. Further, shares were doing a good job holding up over $28.50.
\n
Remember, Plug Powerhas “meme-stock” potential, in that when bulls decide to ramp a stock higher, they could easily pick this one. Particularly with the stock rallying on earnings and sporting a short interest close to 10%.
\n
With Tuesday’s rally, Plug Power is ripping through all of its major moving averages - including the 10-day, 21-day and 200-day - and threatening to clear the June high at $34.38.
\n
That’s a big level. If it can clear that mark, there’s not much in the way to stop it from rallying to $40.
\n
Now that’s not to say that itwillrally to $40. But how far can that take the stock? Let's look at the chart.\n\nShares of Plug Power (PLUG) -Get Report were having a good day on Tuesday, up about 11.5% in the session.\nThe move came after the company reported earnings. Plug Power reportedbetter-than-expected revenue, allowing the stock to jump higher on the day.\nWhile the stock was up nicely in the session, sharesweren’t exactly off to the racesin premarket trading. That's likely as the company's losses widened.\nThis stock has been all over the place, but most recently it’s been under pressure.\nPlug Power rallied alongside NIO (NIO) -Get Report, Tesla (TSLA) -Get Report and other EV stocks. The ramp in GameStop (GME) -Get Report and AMC Entertainment (AMC) -Get Report didn’t hurt either.\nBut the relentless buying eventually caught up with speculators as Plug Power was obliterated.\nShares fell more than 75% from the peak in January to the low in May. As it tries to turn the corner now, let’s take a closer look at the stock.\nDaily chart of Plug Power stock. Chart courtesy of TrendSpider.com\nAhead of earnings, Plug Power stock was giving mixed signals. It was below the 200-day moving average, while the 10-day and 21-day moving averages were acting as resistance.\nOn the flip side, the 50-day and 50-week moving averages were acting as support. Further, shares were doing a good job holding up over $28.50.\nRemember, Plug Powerhas “meme-stock” potential, in that when bulls decide to ramp a stock higher, they could easily pick this one. Particularly with the stock rallying on earnings and sporting a short interest close to 10%.\nWith Tuesday’s rally, Plug Power is ripping through all of its major moving averages - including the 10-day, 21-day and 200-day - and threatening to clear the June high at $34.38.\nThat’s a big level. If it can clear that mark, there’s not much in the way to stop it from rallying to $40.\nNow that’s not to say that itwillrally to $40. Just that there’s not a lot in the stock’s path from a technical perspective should it clear the June high.\nIf shares gain momentum and start to push up toward $40, bulls will likely have their attention on the gap-fill near $42.\nOn the downside, look for previous resistance to act as support.\nFor instance, if Plug Power pushes through the June high but the rally fizzles out, look for the $34.50 area to act as support. Or if it can’t push through the June high, look for Plug Power to find the 200-day moving average as support.\nBelow that puts the 10-day and 21-day moving averages in play. Bulls will need to see these measures turn from resistance to support if they want the narrative to change.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":294,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
