small amount of money can go a long way when invested in these top-notch stocks.","content":"
Time and again, Wall Street has shown investors the power of patience.
\n
Over the past 71 years, the broad-based S&P 500 has undergone 38 double-digit percentage corrections. Despite the regularity of these moves lower, every crash and correction throughout this period was eventually erased by a bull market rally. To put things succinctly, if investors buy great companies and allow their investment theses to play out over long periods of time, their chances of building wealth is very high.
\n
Best of all, with most online brokerages discarding minimum deposit requirements and commission fees, investors can begin or further their trek to financial independence with any amount of cash -- even $20. If you have $20 ready to put to work in the market, and it won't be needed to cover bills or other essential costs, the following trio of companies are the smartest stocks to buy right now.
\n
Exelixis
\n
One of the savviest stocks patient investors can buy right now with $20 is cancer-drug developer Exelixis (NASDAQ:EXEL).
\n
Last week, Exelixis announced its third-quarter operating results, which failed to hit the mark and sent its shares down by more than 10%. Sales of lead-drug Cabometyx were shy of Wall Street's expectations, which caused Exelixis to lower the upper end of its full-year sales outlook. Generally, lowering sales expectations will be met with frowns on Wall Street.
\n
However, this short-term weakness should be viewed as an opportunity, especially with the company's price-to-earnings-growth ratio (PEG ratio) below 0.4. A PEG ratio below 1 is typically considered \"undervalued.\"
\n
Although the landscape for first-line advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is competitive, Cabometyx has demonstrated the ability to grow sales by a sustained double-digit percentage in RCC and advanced hepatocellular carcinoma. On an annual run-rate basis, Cabometyx is pacing more than $1 billion in sales -- and it's not done growing.
\n
More importantly, Exelixis' lead drug is being examined in close to six dozen clinical trials as a monotherapy or combination treatment. If even a handful of these trials yield a positive result, label-expansion opportunities and organic growth could send Cabometyx to north of $2 billion in peak annual sales.
\n
Additionally, Exelixis' robust cash position ($1.8 billion in cash, cash equivalents, and restricted cash) and healthy operating cash flow have allowed it to reignite its internal research engine. This includes advancing internally developed compounds into phase 1 studies, as well as signing collaboration agreements to potentially expand its cancer-drug pipeline.
\n
It's not often you can marry growth and value with the same company, but that's exactly what investors can do with biotech stock Exelixis.
\n
Jushi Holdings
\n
Some of the most deeply discounted growth stocks can be found in the marijuana industry, which is why U.S. multi-state operator (MSO) Jushi Holdings (OTC:JUSHF) makes for a smart buy with $20.
\n
To start with, don't be concerned about a lack of cannabis reform in Washington. While life would undoubtedly be easier for pot stocks if lawmakers would simply follow the overwhelming will of the public and legalize cannabis, allowing individual states to legalize and regulate their pot industries is working fine. Thus far, 36 states have given the green light to weed in some capacity, which is providing growth opportunities for MSOs like Jushi.
\n
In relative terms, Jushi is a small fry, with only 26 operating dispensaries at the moment. Comparatively, a handful of MSOs have in the neighborhood of (or more than) 100 open locations. But Jushi isn't about reckless expansion. Its management team favors methodical expansion in core markets. For Jushi, these core states are Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Virginia.
\n
The reason management has chosen these states is due to their billion-dollar sales potential (Illinois hit $1 billion in legal pot revenue in 2020) and their limited-license status. In limited-license cannabis markets, regulators purposely limit how many dispensary licenses are issued in total, as well as to a single business. For a smaller player like Jushi, this competitive protection ensures it'll have a fair shot to build up its brand(s) and garner a loyal following in these core markets.
\n
Something else impressive about Jushi, and one of the reasons I plan to be a long-term shareholder, is the participation of management and insiders. Of the first $250 million raised by the company, $45 million came from insiders and execs. When leadership has skin in the game right alongside their investors, good things tend to happen.
\n
Jushi is expected to turn the corner to recurring profitability in 2022 and the company's growing sales faster than virtually all other MSOs. The company checks all the appropriate boxes for growth investors.
\n
Viatris
\n
On the other hand, if value runs through your blood, generic-drug giant Viatris (NASDAQ:VTRS) is one of the smartest stocks you can buy right now with $20.
\n
Roughly a year ago, Viatris was born from the combination of Pfizer's established drug unit Upjohn with generic-drug developer Mylan. Due to generic-drug price weakness throughout the industry, the company's first year as a public company has been one to forget. However, this near-term underperformance represents the perfect opportunity for patient investors to nab an exceptionally inexpensive and profitable drug stock.
\n
There were a number of reasons Upjohn and Mylan tied the knot. First off, there were clear-cut cost synergies. The company expects to recognize more than $500 million in cost synergies this year, with well over $1 billion in annual cost reductions by 2023.
\n
As a combined company, Viatris is also in a better position to tackle its outstanding debt. Through the first six months of 2021, $1.15 billion in debt was repaid. By the end of 2023, $6.5 billion in debt should be repaid, which represents a quarter of the company's combined debt ($26 billion), as of November 2020.
\n
Beyond just trimming the fat, Viatris should be able to kick-start its internal drug research in 2024 once debt levels are reduced to more favorable levels. Keep in mind that new drug research would come atop existing biosimilar clinical trials, which are expected to generate billions of dollars in future sales.
\n
Viatris won't deliver jaw-dropping growth like Jushi, or even double-digit annual sales upside like Exelixis. But with a steadiness to generic-drug demand and an improving balance sheet, Viatris' forward price-to-earnings ratio below 4 simply doesn't do its stock justice.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
The Smartest Stocks to Buy With $20 Right Now
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nThe Smartest Stocks to Buy With $20 Right Now\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-11-12 21:28 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Time and again, Wall Street has shown investors the power of patience.\nOver the past 71 years, the broad-based S&P 500 has undergone 38 double-digit percentage corrections. Focusing on all the things that could go wrong in the market, major stock indexes were poised to lose substantial ground when the market opens. In premarket trading Wednesday morning as of 8 a.m. EDT, futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJINDICES:^DJI) were down 326 points to 33,857. Futures on the S&P 500 (SNPINDEX:^GSPC) dropped 48 points to 4,286, and Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQINDEX:^IXIC) futures fell 186 points to 14,470.
\n
Stock market volatility levels have been on the rise, and many investors are looking to protect themselves against further declines by looking to the options market. A key measure of volatility, the CBOE Volatility Index (VOLATILITYINDICES:^VIX), has seen a couple of its biggest spikes all year come in the last couple of weeks. That has some investors looking for ways to profit -- and this morning, they're turning to exchange-traded funds designed to try to track the VIX.
\n

\n
\n
Volatility ETFs and the VIX
\n
The ETF universe has found ways to invest in nearly anything, and volatility is no exception. Because there's no way to invest directly in movements in the VIX, volatility ETFs concentrate on VIX futures contracts.
\n
One relatively simple exchange-traded volatility product is iPath Series B S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures (NYSEMKT:VXX). This security is designed to track the daily movements in the front month and second month VIX futures contracts. Given this morning's rise in anticipated volatility, shares of the iPath volatility product are up more than 4% in pre-market trading.
\n
A similar product is ProShares VIX Short-Term Futures ETF (NYSEMKT:VIXY). It uses a slightly different methodology in selecting futures contracts to achieve the same goal. It's also up nearly 4% as of 8 a.m. EDT Wednesday.
\n
Those investors seeking an even larger gain from rising volatility levels can use leveraged volatility ETFs. The ProShares Ultra VIX Short-Term Futures ETF (NYSEMKT:UVXY) offers moves that are 1.5 times the corresponding daily movement of various VIX futures contracts. That multiple has the ProShares fund up nearly 6% in the pre-market session Wednesday.
\n
The dangers of volatility ETFs
\n
Investing in volatility is dangerous. The first thing to keep in mind is that these products are all designed to tie to daily returns, and that makes them less than ideal for long-term investors. For instance, looking at the iPath's history, it lost money every single year from 2009 to 2017, eked out a tiny positive return in 2018, lost two-thirds of its value in 2019, and climbed just 11% in 2020's turbulent stock market year. It's down more than 60% so far in 2021.
\n
However, the massive returns you can earn if you have perfect timing are tempting. From mid-February to mid-March in 2020, the iPath product jumped more than 320%. The ProShares Ultra volatility ETF gained nearly 700%. But you do have to have perfect timing on both ends -- by the end of April 2020, the funds had given back 50% to 60% of those gains. By the end of the year, the ProShares fund had actually dropped back to a net loss after its huge spike.
\n
Because of their big daily moves, volatility ETFs are attractive to short-term traders. For long-term investors, though, the better way to play volatility is to have cash on hand to buy attractive stocks when they're cheap after a downswing. The bargains you'll reap can end up being top performers in your portfolio.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Stocks Set to Fall Again: Is This the Secret to Making Money When Markets Plunge?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nStocks Set to Fall Again: Is This the Secret to Making Money When Markets Plunge?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-10-06 20:43 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Wall Street has been extremely turbulent lately, and on Wednesday morning, investors got another case of the jitters. For long-term investors, though, the better way to play volatility is to have cash on hand to buy attractive stocks when they're cheap after a downswing. The bargains you'll reap can end up being top performers in your portfolio.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":484,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":829323220,"gmtCreate":1633475890050,"gmtModify":1633475955035,"author":{"id":"3585005453956722","authorId":"3585005453956722","name":"JTWealth","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b210c979fe489ad571406208c0ccd5d9","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$PLTR oh yeah!!","listText":"$PLTR oh yeah!!","text":"$PLTR oh yeah!!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/829323220","repostId":"1194519706","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":345,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":865402199,"gmtCreate":1633008831674,"gmtModify":1633008831859,"author":{"id":"3585005453956722","authorId":"3585005453956722","name":"JTWealth","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b210c979fe489ad571406208c0ccd5d9","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Well, a good read","listText":"Well, a good read","text":"Well, a good read","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/865402199","repostId":"2171986054","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2171986054","pubTimestamp":1632973200,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2171986054?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-09-30 11:40","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Vanguard ETFs I'm Buying if the Stock Market Crashes","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2171986054","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Nobody knows whether the market will crash. Stocks overall haven't suffered such a setback since the pandemic started a year and a half ago, so many investors worry that a 10% pullback is imminent.
\n
The historical average is just that, though: an average. There's no telling when the market will crash and what will ultimately cause it to temporarily fall in value. But a focus on quality companies riding economic growth trends will set you up for long-term success no matter what the stock market does. Three Fool.com contributors think Marvell Technology Group (NASDAQ:MRVL), Duolingo (NASDAQ:DUOL), and Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) are great buys right now, and would be especially great pickups if the market falls in the next month.
\n
Doubling down on data center hardware
\n
Nicholas Rossolillo (Marvell Technology Group): Semiconductor designer Marvell is flying high this year -- and not just because of the global chip shortage. The company has made four major acquisitions since 2018, and a fifth one is currently pending. These takeovers have transformed Marvell's operations, reducing its reliance on consumer electronics and upping its game in data centers and 5G mobile networks.
\n
In fact, Marvell said on its last earnings call that data center sales (40% of revenue) are poised to grow for years to come. Marvell's product portfolio that spans data processing units (DPUs, the processors that manage the flow of data within a computing system) to optical and networking systems has helped Marvell increase its share of its customers' complex computing needs. And as cloud computing grows in importance in the decade ahead, Marvell is well positioned to grow.
\n
There are risks, however, as Marvell integrates its various new chip design subsidiaries. But the semiconductor company is already realizing positive results. Net losses were $276 million in the last quarter on revenue of $1.08 billion, but on an adjusted basis the company generated a robust $284 million profit. The non-adjusted and adjusted bottom-line results will converge over time as the amortized costs of the acquisitions are digested.
\n
At the end of the day, though, this is a top chip stock for the cloud computing age. The stock is up 140% since the start of 2020, and while I still like it for the long haul, I'd be really happy to load up on a lot more if it pulled back in price from all-time highs. Data centers are at the heart of modern business operations these days, and Marvell is helping make it happen.
\n

\n
\n
Buy, compra, kaufe, achetez, köp Duolingo on the dips
\n
Anders Bylund (Duolingo): Language tutoring specialist Duolingo is off to the races. The stock has gained a market-stomping 46% since joining the public stock market at the end of July. Trading at a lofty 37 times trailing sales with negative earnings and cash flows, Duolingo is a value investor's worst nightmare right now.
\n
This little company is going places. I'm already a happy Duolingo shareholder and I'd be first in line to boost my holdings if another marketwide flight from high-priced growth stocks drags the stock back down. In fact, I might soon add a few shares to my holdings even if Duolingo stays aloft.
\n
The language training platform you see today is only the beginning of a much larger ambition. Duolingo founders Luis von Ahn and Severin Hacker started the service with the vision that \"free education will really change the world.\" That aspiration came first and the business opportunity followed much later, when von Ahn saw that voluntary donations and his MacArthur Genius Grant wouldn't be enough to let Duolingo change the world on a meaningful scale.
\n
Foreign languages provide a solid training ground for Duolingo's online tutoring services in a more general sense, eventually paving the way for launches of similar services for subjects such as math, physics, history, and underwater basket weaving. Developing this grand vision will take years -- and it should be well worth the effort.
\n
The global market for online learning services added up to a $226 billion revenue opportunity in 2020. Duolingo collected top-line sales of just $208 million over the last four quarters, which works out to a 0.1% slice of the addressable market. The long-term growth opportunity is massive.
\n
Furthermore, Duolingo is well equipped to make the most of this opening. It posted 47% year-over-year revenue growth in the company's first quarterly earnings report, and the balance sheet is squeaky clean with $115 million of cash reserves and just $8 million in long-term debts. It would take more than a temporary market storm to bring this company down.
\n
So take advantage of lower prices if and when Duolingo's stock is dragged down by the next market panic. The company is poised to spread its wings and fly. If the lofty valuation is the only thing holding you back, you should be prepared to take action on the inevitable dips along the way.
\n
A downturn in China could bring an opportunity in Apple
\n
Billy Duberstein (Apple): iPhone giant Apple could get hit hard by a global market sell-off, especially if the Evergrande crisis causes a recession in China. Last quarter, China accounted for more than 18% of Apple's revenue, and a broader China recession could also cause a global slowdown outside the U.S., especially with China's other trading partners in Europe and the rest of the Asia-Pacific region.
\n
Of course, the last time Apple's stock was hit by Chinese worries was in late 2018 and early 2019. That proved to be a tremendous buying opportunity. In fact, Apple's stock has more than tripled off of that January 2019 bottom.
\n

\n
Data by YCharts.
\n
That's because while iPhone sales can be inconsistent and lumpy, over the long run, Apple's revenue should grow. Eventually, customers need to update their phones, even if they hold off during difficult economic times, and Apple users are generally incredibly loyal. The Apple device installed base continues to grow every quarter, and management has successfully grown its services business, which has much more recurring revenue, to about 21.4% of total revenue as of last quarter.
\n
It's true that Apple trades at a much higher earnings multiple than it did prior to 2020, and so its stock still has the possibility to fall significantly if the market gets scared. Yet its 28.5 P/E ratio today is still reasonable when considering its near-$200 billion cash pile, which should insulate this safe stock from any significant long-term danger.
\n
And while Apple is primarily known for the iPhone and its various computing devices, it will also spend over $20 billion in research and development this year as it continues to innovate. Apple is likely to extend its brand power into future products and services going forward, such as healthcare, AR/VR, autonomous systems and vehicles, and others. Even recent new endeavors, such as Apple's controversial foray into streaming, could surprise to the upside. After all, the Apple TV+ show Ted Lasso cleaned up at this year's Emmy awards. Stocks overall haven't suffered such a setback since the pandemic started a year and a half ago, so many investors worry that a 10% pullback is imminent.\nThe historical average is just that, though: an average. There's no telling when the market will crash and what will ultimately cause it to temporarily fall in value. But a focus on quality companies riding economic growth trends will set you up for long-term success no matter what the stock market does. Three Fool.com contributors think Marvell Technology Group (NASDAQ:MRVL), Duolingo (NASDAQ:DUOL), and Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) are great buys right now, and would be especially great pickups if the market falls in the next month.\nDoubling down on data center hardware\nNicholas Rossolillo (Marvell Technology Group): Semiconductor designer Marvell is flying high this year -- and not just because of the global chip shortage. The company has made four major acquisitions since 2018, and a fifth one is currently pending. These takeovers have transformed Marvell's operations, reducing its reliance on consumer electronics and upping its game in data centers and 5G mobile networks.\nIn fact, Marvell said on its last earnings call that data center sales (40% of revenue) are poised to grow for years to come. Marvell's product portfolio that spans data processing units (DPUs, the processors that manage the flow of data within a computing system) to optical and networking systems has helped Marvell increase its share of its customers' complex computing needs. And as cloud computing grows in importance in the decade ahead, Marvell is well positioned to grow.\nThere are risks, however, as Marvell integrates its various new chip design subsidiaries. But the semiconductor company is already realizing positive results. Net losses were $276 million in the last quarter on revenue of $1.08 billion, but on an adjusted basis the company generated a robust $284 million profit. The non-adjusted and adjusted bottom-line results will converge over time as the amortized costs of the acquisitions are digested.\nAt the end of the day, though, this is a top chip stock for the cloud computing age. The stock is up 140% since the start of 2020, and while I still like it for the long haul, I'd be really happy to load up on a lot more if it pulled back in price from all-time highs. Data centers are at the heart of modern business operations these days, and Marvell is helping make it happen.\n\nImage source: Getty Images.\nBuy, compra, kaufe, achetez, köp Duolingo on the dips\nAnders Bylund (Duolingo): Language tutoring specialist Duolingo is off to the races. The stock has gained a market-stomping 46% since joining the public stock market at the end of July. Trading at a lofty 37 times trailing sales with negative earnings and cash flows, Duolingo is a value investor's worst nightmare right now.\nThis little company is going places. I'm already a happy Duolingo shareholder and I'd be first in line to boost my holdings if another marketwide flight from high-priced growth stocks drags the stock back down. In fact, I might soon add a few shares to my holdings even if Duolingo stays aloft.\nThe language training platform you see today is only the beginning of a much larger ambition. Duolingo founders Luis von Ahn and Severin Hacker started the service with the vision that \"free education will really change the world.\" That aspiration came first and the business opportunity followed much later, when von Ahn saw that voluntary donations and his MacArthur Genius Grant wouldn't be enough to let Duolingo change the world on a meaningful scale.\nForeign languages provide a solid training ground for Duolingo's online tutoring services in a more general sense, eventually paving the way for launches of similar services for subjects such as math, physics, history, and underwater basket weaving. Developing this grand vision will take years -- and it should be well worth the effort.\nThe global market for online learning services added up to a $226 billion revenue opportunity in 2020. Duolingo collected top-line sales of just $208 million over the last four quarters, which works out to a 0.1% slice of the addressable market. The long-term growth opportunity is massive.\nFurthermore, Duolingo is well equipped to make the most of this opening. It posted 47% year-over-year revenue growth in the company's first quarterly earnings report, and the balance sheet is squeaky clean with $115 million of cash reserves and just $8 million in long-term debts. It would take more than a temporary market storm to bring this company down.\nSo take advantage of lower prices if and when Duolingo's stock is dragged down by the next market panic. The company is poised to spread its wings and fly. If the lofty valuation is the only thing holding you back, you should be prepared to take action on the inevitable dips along the way.\nA downturn in China could bring an opportunity in Apple\nBilly Duberstein (Apple): iPhone giant Apple could get hit hard by a global market sell-off, especially if the Evergrande crisis causes a recession in China. Last quarter, China accounted for more than 18% of Apple's revenue, and a broader China recession could also cause a global slowdown outside the U.S., especially with China's other trading partners in Europe and the rest of the Asia-Pacific region.\nOf course, the last time Apple's stock was hit by Chinese worries was in late 2018 and early 2019. That proved to be a tremendous buying opportunity. In fact, Apple's stock has more than tripled off of that January 2019 bottom.\n\nData by YCharts.\nThat's because while iPhone sales can be inconsistent and lumpy, over the long run, Apple's revenue should grow. Eventually, customers need to update their phones, even if they hold off during difficult economic times, and Apple users are generally incredibly loyal. The Apple device installed base continues to grow every quarter, and management has successfully grown its services business, which has much more recurring revenue, to about 21.4% of total revenue as of last quarter.\nIt's true that Apple trades at a much higher earnings multiple than it did prior to 2020, and so its stock still has the possibility to fall significantly if the market gets scared. Yet its 28.5 P/E ratio today is still reasonable when considering its near-$200 billion cash pile, which should insulate this safe stock from any significant long-term danger.\nAnd while Apple is primarily known for the iPhone and its various computing devices, it will also spend over $20 billion in research and development this year as it continues to innovate. That's the fastest any new streaming service has won the Emmy for best show. Therefore, investors shouldn't discount Apple becoming a more formidable force in streaming TV, either.\nBasically, Apple is a cash-gushing, safe stock that still has a history of correcting in large market sell-offs. Given its consumer staple-like resilience and potential for future innovation, it's a prime target for investors should the market swoon.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":478,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":868655227,"gmtCreate":1632644062369,"gmtModify":1632646786154,"author":{"id":"3585005453956722","authorId":"3585005453956722","name":"JTWealth","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b210c979fe489ad571406208c0ccd5d9","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"What did i just see??

Given this morning's rise in anticipated volatility, shares of the iPath volatility product are up more than 4% in pre-market trading.\nA similar product is ProShares VIX Short-Term Futures ETF (NYSEMKT:VIXY). It uses a slightly different methodology in selecting futures contracts to achieve the same goal. It's also up nearly 4% as of 8 a.m. EDT Wednesday.\nThose investors seeking an even larger gain from rising volatility levels can use leveraged volatility ETFs. The ProShares Ultra VIX Short-Term Futures ETF (NYSEMKT:UVXY) offers moves that are 1.5 times the corresponding daily movement of various VIX futures contracts. That multiple has the ProShares fund up nearly 6% in the pre-market session Wednesday.\nThe dangers of volatility ETFs\nInvesting in volatility is dangerous. It's down more than 60% so far in 2021.\nHowever, the massive returns you can earn if you have perfect timing are tempting. From mid-February to mid-March in 2020, the iPath product jumped more than 320%. The ProShares Ultra volatility ETF gained nearly 700%. But you do have to have perfect timing on both ends -- by the end of April 2020, the funds had given back 50% to 60% of those gains. By the end of the year, the ProShares fund had actually dropped back to a net loss after its huge spike.\nBecause of their big daily moves, volatility ETFs are attractive to short-term traders. For long-term investors, though, the better way to play volatility is to have cash on hand to buy attractive stocks when they're cheap after a downswing. The bargains you'll reap can end up being top performers in your portfolio.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":484,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":861540762,"gmtCreate":1632527261956,"gmtModify":1632712706485,"author":{"id":"3585005453956722","authorId":"3585005453956722","name":"JTWealth","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b210c979fe489ad571406208c0ccd5d9","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"There’s always ups and downs, fundamentally still strong","listText":"There’s always ups and downs, fundamentally still strong","text":"There’s always ups and downs, fundamentally still strong","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/861540762","repostId":"2170619785","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2170619785","pubTimestamp":1632518354,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2170619785?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-09-25 05:19","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Dow Jones, S&P 500 end with gains up after bumpy week, but Nike drags","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2170619785","media":"The Straits Times","summary":"NEW YORK (REUTERS) - The Dow and S&P 500 edged higher on Friday (Sept 24) and ended a turbulent week","content":"
\n
NEW YORK (REUTERS) - The Dow and S&P 500 edged higher on Friday (Sept 24) and ended a turbulent week with slight increases, helped by gains in Tesla and Facebook that offset a tumble by Nike.\nAthletic...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"straits_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The S&P 500 added 0.4% and Nasdaq Composite gained 0.6%.\nTech stocks bounced a bit in morning trading after struggling this week because of a rapid rise in rates. The 10-year Treasury yield was little changed in early trading.\nChip stocks, including Nvidia and Micron, were higher after weighing on the broader market on Wednesday. Facebook and Apple saw modest gains in early trading, while Netflix jumped more than 2%.\nStocks also got a boost as Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said late Wednesday that the chamber had reached a deal to avoid a government shutdown this week. Schumer said he would schedule a vote on Thursday for the stopgap measure that would keep the government running into early December. The deal would still need to pass the House.\nFor the month, the Dow is down 2.7%, the S&P 500 is off by 3.6% and the Nasdaq Composite has shed 4.9%. September has lived up to its losing reputation with the market beset by fears of a China property crisis, rising inflation and a late interest rate surge sparked by the Federal Reserve signaling it would start removing stimulus soon.\n\"We wouldn't get caught up in any end-of-quarter machinations today and continue to advise fading rallies (especially in tech) as the coming weeks will stay rocky,\" wrote Adam Crisafulli of Vital Knowledge.\nThe 10-year Treasury yield fell 3 basis points to 1.52% on Thursday (1 basis point equals 0.01%). The rate was at 1.30% to end August before surging to end this month.\nSeptember’s losses have led to a middling third quarter for the market. For the 3-month period, the Dow is slightly in the red, while the Nasdaq Composite is just about flat. The S&P 500 is up 1.4%. The S&P 500 is still up 16% on the year.\nOctober has a reputation for some violent sell-offs but overall is typically the start of a better seasonal performance for stocks. The S&P 500 averages a 0.8% gain for the month, according to the Stock Trader’s Almanac.\n“September lived up to its reputation and dented stock portfolio returns, but not too badly,” wrote Ed Yardeni of Yardeni Research. “There has been a lot of concern that higher wages, higher energy prices, and higher transportation costs will weigh on earnings for the remainder of this year and into 2022. It’s certainly something we’ll be tracking. But so far, analysts remain relatively sanguine.”\nConcerns about inflation and supply chain issues continued to hamper stocks.Shares of Bed Bath & Beyond fell more than 28% in morning trading after the company said those issues hurt the company’s second quarter results, and the news also weighed on fellow retail stocks.\nFed Chair Jerome Powell will testify to the House Financial Services Committee at 10 a.m. ET Thursday alongside Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen. Powell told a European Central Bank panel on Wednesday that he was frustrated by persistent inflation.\n“It’s also frustrating to see the bottlenecks and supply chain problems not getting better — in fact at the margins apparently getting a little bit worse,” Powell said. “We see that continuing into next year probably, and holding up inflation longer than we had thought.”\nOn the data front, initial jobless claims for the prior week came in at 362,000. Economists are expecting a print of 335,000, according to Dow Jones.\nThe Dow and S&P 500 inched higher during regular trading Wednesday. The 30-stock Dow advanced about 90 points for its fifth positive session in the last six, while the S&P 500 gained 0.16%, breaking a 2-day losing streak.\nThe Nasdaq Composite, meanwhile, declined 0.24% for its fourth straight negative session. The technology sector declined again on Wednesday and is now down 4% for the week, making it the worst-performing S&P group.\nThe tech decline came as the 10-year Treasury yield hit a high of 1.56% on Wednesday, after rising to 1.567% on Tuesday. The move higher is pressuring tech stocks since it makes future cash flows look less attractive.\nWells Fargo noted that pullbacks are to be expected. \"This is a normal re-pricing of risk based on a higher cost of capital and greater market uncertainty,\" the firm said Wednesday in a note to clients.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":530,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":829323220,"gmtCreate":1633475890050,"gmtModify":1633475955035,"author":{"id":"3585005453956722","authorId":"3585005453956722","name":"JTWealth","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b210c979fe489ad571406208c0ccd5d9","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$PLTR oh yeah!!","listText":"$PLTR oh yeah!!","text":"$PLTR oh yeah!!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/829323220","repostId":"1194519706","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1194519706","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1633474388,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1194519706?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-10-06 06:53","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Palantir stock rallies 13% on $823 million Army contract","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1194519706","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Palantir Technologies Inc. shares rallied in the extended session Tuesday after the data-software co","content":"
Palantir Technologies Inc. shares rallied in the extended session Tuesday after the data-software company said it was selected for a U.S. Army intelligence program contract.
Despite the regularity of these moves lower, every crash and correction throughout this period was eventually erased by a bull market rally. To put things succinctly, if investors buy great companies and allow their investment theses to play out over long periods of time, their chances of building wealth is very high.\nBest of all, with most online brokerages discarding minimum deposit requirements and commission fees, investors can begin or further their trek to financial independence with any amount of cash -- even $20. If you have $20 ready to put to work in the market, and it won't be needed to cover bills or other essential costs, the following trio of companies are the smartest stocks to buy right now.\nExelixis\nOne of the savviest stocks patient investors can buy right now with $20 is cancer-drug developer Exelixis (NASDAQ:EXEL).\nLast week, Exelixis announced its third-quarter operating results, which failed to hit the mark and sent its shares down by more than 10%. Sales of lead-drug Cabometyx were shy of Wall Street's expectations, which caused Exelixis to lower the upper end of its full-year sales outlook. Generally, lowering sales expectations will be met with frowns on Wall Street.\nHowever, this short-term weakness should be viewed as an opportunity, especially with the company's price-to-earnings-growth ratio (PEG ratio) below 0.4. A PEG ratio below 1 is typically considered \"undervalued.\"\nAlthough the landscape for first-line advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is competitive, Cabometyx has demonstrated the ability to grow sales by a sustained double-digit percentage in RCC and advanced hepatocellular carcinoma. On an annual run-rate basis, Cabometyx is pacing more than $1 billion in sales -- and it's not done growing.\nMore importantly, Exelixis' lead drug is being examined in close to six dozen clinical trials as a monotherapy or combination treatment. If even a handful of these trials yield a positive result, label-expansion opportunities and organic growth could send Cabometyx to north of $2 billion in peak annual sales.\nAdditionally, Exelixis' robust cash position ($1.8 billion in cash, cash equivalents, and restricted cash) and healthy operating cash flow have allowed it to reignite its internal research engine. This includes advancing internally developed compounds into phase 1 studies, as well as signing collaboration agreements to potentially expand its cancer-drug pipeline.\nIt's not often you can marry growth and value with the same company, but that's exactly what investors can do with biotech stock Exelixis.\nJushi Holdings\nSome of the most deeply discounted growth stocks can be found in the marijuana industry, which is why U.S. multi-state operator (MSO) Jushi Holdings (OTC:JUSHF) makes for a smart buy with $20.\nTo start with, don't be concerned about a lack of cannabis reform in Washington. While life would undoubtedly be easier for pot stocks if lawmakers would simply follow the overwhelming will of the public and legalize cannabis, allowing individual states to legalize and regulate their pot industries is working fine. Thus far, 36 states have given the green light to weed in some capacity, which is providing growth opportunities for MSOs like Jushi.\nIn relative terms, Jushi is a small fry, with only 26 operating dispensaries at the moment. Comparatively, a handful of MSOs have in the neighborhood of (or more than) 100 open locations. But Jushi isn't about reckless expansion. Its management team favors methodical expansion in core markets. For Jushi, these core states are Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Virginia.\nThe reason management has chosen these states is due to their billion-dollar sales potential (Illinois hit $1 billion in legal pot revenue in 2020) and their limited-license status. In limited-license cannabis markets, regulators purposely limit how many dispensary licenses are issued in total, as well as to a single business. For a smaller player like Jushi, this competitive protection ensures it'll have a fair shot to build up its brand(s) and garner a loyal following in these core markets.\nSomething else impressive about Jushi, and one of the reasons I plan to be a long-term shareholder, is the participation of management and insiders. Of the first $250 million raised by the company, $45 million came from insiders and execs. When leadership has skin in the game right alongside their investors, good things tend to happen.\nJushi is expected to turn the corner to recurring profitability in 2022 and the company's growing sales faster than virtually all other MSOs. The company checks all the appropriate boxes for growth investors.\nViatris\nOn the other hand, if value runs through your blood, generic-drug giant Viatris (NASDAQ:VTRS) is one of the smartest stocks you can buy right now with $20.\nRoughly a year ago, Viatris was born from the combination of Pfizer's established drug unit Upjohn with generic-drug developer Mylan. Due to generic-drug price weakness throughout the industry, the company's first year as a public company has been one to forget. However, this near-term underperformance represents the perfect opportunity for patient investors to nab an exceptionally inexpensive and profitable drug stock.\nThere were a number of reasons Upjohn and Mylan tied the knot. First off, there were clear-cut cost synergies. The company expects to recognize more than $500 million in cost synergies this year, with well over $1 billion in annual cost reductions by 2023.\nAs a combined company, Viatris is also in a better position to tackle its outstanding debt. Through the first six months of 2021, $1.15 billion in debt was repaid. By the end of 2023, $6.5 billion in debt should be repaid, which represents a quarter of the company's combined debt ($26 billion), as of November 2020.\nBeyond just trimming the fat, Viatris should be able to kick-start its internal drug research in 2024 once debt levels are reduced to more favorable levels. Keep in mind that new drug research would come atop existing biosimilar clinical trials, which are expected to generate billions of dollars in future sales.\nViatris won't deliver jaw-dropping growth like Jushi, or even double-digit annual sales upside like Exelixis. But with a steadiness to generic-drug demand and an improving balance sheet, Viatris' forward price-to-earnings ratio below 4 simply doesn't do its stock justice.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":618,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":852098147,"gmtCreate":1635220106862,"gmtModify":1635220107062,"author":{"id":"3585005453956722","authorId":"3585005453956722","name":"JTWealth","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b210c979fe489ad571406208c0ccd5d9","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Tesla for the win","listText":"Tesla for the win","text":"Tesla for the win","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/852098147","repostId":"2178471618","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":524,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":866077583,"gmtCreate":1632717194842,"gmtModify":1632798328162,"author":{"id":"3585005453956722","authorId":"3585005453956722","name":"JTWealth","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b210c979fe489ad571406208c0ccd5d9","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Duolingo is worth a look","listText":"Duolingo is worth a look","text":"Duolingo is worth a look","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/866077583","repostId":"2170108956","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":478,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":866288127,"gmtCreate":1632785111769,"gmtModify":1632797903233,"author":{"id":"3585005453956722","authorId":"3585005453956722","name":"JTWealth","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b210c979fe489ad571406208c0ccd5d9","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Aaple Ftw!","listText":"Aaple Ftw!","text":"Aaple Ftw!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/866288127","repostId":"1143344359","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1143344359","pubTimestamp":1632727246,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1143344359?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-09-27 15:20","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Apple Stock: The “Trick” That Can Push Share Price Higher","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1143344359","media":"TheStreet","summary":"Corporate America continues to aggressively buy their own shares, following a pullback in activity d","content":"
Corporate America continues to aggressively buy their own shares, following a pullback in activity during the pandemic. Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO)
\n
It may seem counterintuitive to buy when the market is down, but crashes can be a fantastic opportunity to invest when prices are lower. ETFs trade like stocks, so when the market is down, their share prices are typically lower as well.
\n
One ETF I'm planning to invest in heavily if the market crashes is the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (NYSEMKT:VOO). Like its name suggests, this fund tracks the S&P 500 and includes all the stocks within the index itself.
\n
The S&P 500 ETF is one of the most dependable investments out there. Historically, the index itself has faced countless crashes and corrections, and it has recovered from each and every one. If the market crashes again, there's a very good chance this ETF will be able to bounce back. And by buying when prices are lower, you'll reap the rewards once the market recovers and prices increase once again.
\n
2. Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (VTI)
\n
The Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (NYSEMKT:VTI) is similar to the S&P 500 ETF, but it includes more stocks from more diverse companies.
\n
The S&P 500 ETF includes stocks from 500 large companies, while the Total Stock Market ETF includes nearly 4,000 stocks from small, midsize, and large corporations. This provides greater diversification and can decrease your risk.
\n
Another advantage of this fund is that it's designed to follow the market as a whole. Again, the stock market has a strong track record when it comes to recovering from downturns, so by investing in this ETF, it's likely your investments will recover as well.
\n
3. Vanguard Growth ETF (VUG)
\n
The Vanguard Growth ETF (NYSEMKT:VUG) includes 285 stocks from companies that are expected to grow at a faster-than-average pace.
\n
This fund includes the fewest holdings of the three ETFs on the list, which does make it slightly riskier. However, many of the biggest stocks in the fund are from behemoth tech corporations like Amazon, Apple, and Microsoft -- companies that are very likely to survive market volatility.
\n
One of the primary advantages of growth ETFs is that they're designed to earn above-average returns. This particular ETF has earned an average rate of return of around 12% per year since its inception, for example. By comparison, the S&P 500 has historically earned a 10% average annual return, and the Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF has earned an average return of around 9% per year.
\n
Investing in ETFs can be a fantastic way to build wealth with less effort, and buying during a market downturn can make investing more affordable. While nobody knows for certain whether a market crash is coming, by making a list now of the investments you want to buy, you can snag them at a discount later.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Vanguard ETFs I'm Buying if the Stock Market Crashes
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Vanguard ETFs I'm Buying if the Stock Market Crashes\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-09-30 11:40 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Nobody knows whether the market will crash. However, many of the biggest stocks in the fund are from behemoth tech corporations like Amazon, Apple, and Microsoft -- companies that are very likely to survive market volatility.\nOne of the primary advantages of growth ETFs is that they're designed to earn above-average returns. This particular ETF has earned an average rate of return of around 12% per year since its inception, for example. By comparison, the S&P 500 has historically earned a 10% average annual return, and the Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF has earned an average return of around 9% per year.\nInvesting in ETFs can be a fantastic way to build wealth with less effort, and buying during a market downturn can make investing more affordable. While nobody knows for certain whether a market crash is coming, by making a list now of the investments you want to buy, you can snag them at a discount later.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":451,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":868655841,"gmtCreate":1632644034883,"gmtModify":1632646789155,"author":{"id":"3585005453956722","authorId":"3585005453956722","name":"JTWealth","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b210c979fe489ad571406208c0ccd5d9","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Oh yeahhhh","listText":"Oh yeahhhh","text":"Oh yeahhhh","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/868655841","repostId":"1136461867","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1136461867","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1632405237,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1136461867?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-09-23 21:53","market":"other","language":"en","title":"Novavax surged over 10% in early trading","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1136461867","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"(Sept 23) Novavax surged over 10% in early trading.
