TSLA stock ","content":"
After opening higher by 1.4% on Tuesday, shares of Tesla(NASDAQ:TSLA) have taken a turn. TSLA stock is down 0.5% today, despite a pair of analyst price-target hikes. However, if these price targets come to fruition, today’s action will be a distant memory.
\n
Argus Researchupped its target to $1,313 from $1,010.Wedbush’s Dan Ives also raised his price target, upping it to $1,400 from $1,100.
\n
Ives argues that Tesla’s China business could increase the stock price by another $400 per share in 2022. Furthermore, he estimates that Tesla will deliver between 1.4 million and 1.5 million vehicles next year. However, there could be even more upside. Ives has a bull-case price target of $1,800 per share. If achieved, it would represent about 66% upside in TSLA stock from current levels.
\n
According to Ives, “Musk & Co. have navigated the chip supply shortages better than any automaker globally over the last six months, which is why Tesla is in a clear position of strength heading into 2022 with an inflection point year ahead.”
\n
Further, he says there are three main catalysts for a higher stock price this year: “By the end of 2022 Tesla will have the capacity for overall ~2 million units annually from roughly 1 million today … Austin has a clear path to launching its key flagship US factory (and HQ) in early 2022 … [Tesla can] further expand its auto [gross margins] and profitability profile over the next 12 to 18 months.”
\n
The latest analyst actions aren’t the only bullish calls this month. A few weeks ago, New Street analyst Pierre Ferraguincreased his price target from $1,298 to a Street-high $1,580. The bullish stance comes from high expectations for the company’s Shanghai plant, believing it will turnout 700,000 vehicles annually. Additionally, the analyst believes Tesla will surpass its delivery estimate of 266,000 units in the fourth quarter.
\n
TSLA Stock This Year
\n
So far for the year, TSLA stock is up about 53%. While that’s vastly better than Nio(NYSE:NIO) and several of the newcomers in the EV space, Tesla’s performance lags Ford(NYSE:F) and Lucid Motors(NASDAQ:LCID), which are up 137% and 275% on the year, respectively.
\n
While shares are down slightly on the day now, TSLA stock is still up more than 20% from last week’s low. It also provides current customers of FuelCell Energy’s technology in the Korean market the ability to receive the quality of service and module stack replacements they deserve. In addition, it provides a clear path for FuelCell Energy to once again serve a growing market for fuels cells and support the growing energy transition within South Korea as well as the broader Asian marketplace. In South Korea, our fuel cell platform is a preferred choice for utility scale projects given its high-quality thermal attributes that support the district heating needs of the country. Even before the split, Ford (ticker: F) in 2020 canceled a program which would have seen one of its vehicles built on a Rivian (RIVN) frame. And this past spring, Ford gave up its Rivian board seat as Rivian’s IPO approached—although that might have made sense for competitive reasons.
\n
“As Ford has scaled its own EV strategy and demand for Rivian vehicles has grown, we’ve mutually decided to focus on our own projects and deliveries,” Rivian said in a statement. “Our relationship with Ford is an important part of our journey, and Ford remains an investor and ally on our shared path to an electrified future.”
\n
For Ford, the breakup comes with a twist of irony: The company helped Rivian get off the ground by investing in the electric vehicle start-up in 2019. Rivian’s market capitalization, however, has since exploded to roughly $125 billion, based on its fully diluted share count. That dwarfs Ford’s, which is about $77 billion.
\n
But sour grapes over stock price rarely drives corporate breakups. And Ford still has roughly 100 million shares of Rivian stock, which are worth about $13 billion.
\n
There are two other dynamics that better explain why the car makers split. One is that Ford is doing better in the EV game now than when it initially staked Rivian. Ford, which has sold about 22,000 Mustang Mach Es so far this year, plans to sell 600,000 EVs annually by 2023. Ford executives have also announced a $11.4 billion investment plan, which will give the business the assembly—and battery—capacity to manufacture about an additional 1 million EVs each year.
\n
Ford has also seen some success with its EVs: Its Mustang Mach E was named Car and Driver’s EV of the year in July. The business also plans to start selling its all-electric F-150 pick up truck in 2022, competing with the Rivian R1T pick up.
\n
The other dynamic: Partnerships between auto makers might not make as much sense in a battery-powered world as they did in a gasoline-powered one.
\n
Consider the fact that partnerships between auto makers for traditional automobiles were all about scale.Companies would jointly develop a platform for a vehicle, so they could spread development dollars over two companies’ sales.
\n
Scale still matters in an EV world, just not in the same way.
\n
Here’s why: Engines, transmissions and a gas tank deliver power to traditional automobiles, with engine sizes varying depending on how big the vehicles are. But with EVs, batteries and electric motors provide the power. Larger EVs typically just get more batteries and another electric motor—usually mounted on an axel—than smaller EVs do.
\n
EV platforms come with their own built-in scale, which can be leveraged across many types of vehicles that the auto maker already sells.
\n
Scale still matters and two companies can still jointly develop an EV platform. In fact, Ford and Volkswagen (VOW3. Germany) share some EV technology with one another. There is just less urgency to form the kind of partnerships that were profitable in the past.
\n
As for the stocks, Friday’s news doesn’t mean all that much for Ford or Rivian.Ford stock, which closed down 0.9% in the regular session, slipped about 0.3% in after-hours trading on Friday. Rivian shares, meanwhile, finished up 4.2% as post-IPO volatility continued, before falling about 1.2% in after-hours trading.
\n
Investors still have to pick winners and losers in the growing EV business, but they currently seem to be giving the edge to the startups. They shouldn’t count out Ford or other traditional car makers, though. Based on the level of spending and new products from traditional players, it looks as if they aren’t going quietly into the night.
","source":"lsy1601382232898","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
What's Behind Ford and Rivian's Breakup?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nWhat's Behind Ford and Rivian's Breakup?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-11-22 11:26 GMT+8 Barrons\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Ford Motor and Rivian Automotive are no longer planning to jointly develop electric vehicles,Ford and Rivian spokespeople confirmed Friday.\nThat actually isn’t a big surprise.\nStill, the move may ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"F":"福特汽车","RIVN":"Rivian Automotive, Inc."},"source_url":"https://www.barrons.com/articles/ford-rivian-ev-partnership-51637417997?mod=hp_LATEST","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1112644299","content_text":"Ford Motor and Rivian Automotive are no longer planning to jointly develop electric vehicles,Ford and Rivian spokespeople confirmed Friday.\nThat actually isn’t a big surprise.\nStill, the move may leave investors wondering why joint development isn’t a good idea—and what the breakup means for the two auto makers’ stocks.\nFirst, a bit of context. Even before the split, Ford (ticker: F) in 2020 canceled a program which would have seen one of its vehicles built on a Rivian (RIVN) frame. And this past spring, Ford gave up its Rivian board seat as Rivian’s IPO approached—although that might have made sense for competitive reasons.\n“As Ford has scaled its own EV strategy and demand for Rivian vehicles has grown, we’ve mutually decided to focus on our own projects and deliveries,” Rivian said in a statement. “Our relationship with Ford is an important part of our journey, and Ford remains an investor and ally on our shared path to an electrified future.”\nFor Ford, the breakup comes with a twist of irony: The company helped Rivian get off the ground by investing in the electric vehicle start-up in 2019. Larger EVs typically just get more batteries and another electric motor—usually mounted on an axel—than smaller EVs do.\nEV platforms come with their own built-in scale, which can be leveraged across many types of vehicles that the auto maker already sells.\nScale still matters and two companies can still jointly develop an EV platform. But successful growth stocks can earn their valuations quickly, and Nio is at a stage where it is starting to realize its potential.
\n
The 66,395 vehicle deliveries in the first nine months of 2021 represent growth of over 150% compared to the same period last year. Along with its manufacturing partner, it is expanding production with a new facility in Hefei, China, that will double its production capacity to at least 240,000 vehicles annually. The company has also set up a division in Norway, including its Nio House social centers, and soon will have a series of the unique battery swap stations it offers customers in China. A move into Germany is next, at the same time Nio begins selling its first sedan, the luxury ET7. The company also has two other new products planned for 2022.
\n
In its second-quarter earnings report, Nio showed it more than doubled gross margin year over year, with an adjusted loss from operations compressed by more than half versus the year-ago quarter. If the company continues to progress toward profitability in the third quarter report coming in several weeks, investors will likely continue to support its lofty valuation. As long as the bigger-picture growth story of EV adoption continues to materialize, Nio should be able to take advantage of it. Having it on the list to buy in a market decline makes sense for those who want a better price to add to existing holdings, or who feel uncomfortable investing at the current valuation.
\n
2. Costco: Stability when needed
\n
Warehouse retailer Costco Wholesale (NASDAQ:COST) is a good stock to add during a downturn both because of its long-term success and its position in the consumer staples sector. Its fortunes have led the stock to far outpace total returns of the S&P 500 index as this 10-year chart shows.
\n
COST Total Return Level data by YCharts
\n
But maybe, more importantly, it can give investors above-average stability during an economic downturn as its customers continue to shop for necessities there. Its bulk price offerings become even more desirable for consumers when times are tight. And the annual fee isn't typically something customers look to trim during tough times. As of the end of the company's fiscal fourth quarter, membership renewal rates were over 91% in the U.S. and Canada and almost 89% globally.
\n
And Costco continues to grow its member base. It told shareholders in its recent fiscal fourth-quarter investor call that it added 1.8 million cardholders in the three-month period ended June 30, for a total membership of 111.6 million. That customer base will provide stability for both Costco and its investors during the next economic down cycle.
\n
3. NextEra Energy: A combination of income and growth
\n
NextEra Energy (NYSE:NEE) is in a unique position to provide investors with income from its electric utility subsidiary while still providing exposure to the renewable energy sector with its NextEra Energy Resources clean energy business.
\n
The utility business consists of Florida Power & Light and Gulf Power and gives investors stable income from a region that also is experiencing population growth. Through the recently reported 2021 third quarter, both utilities showed growth based on the average number of customer accounts versus the prior-year period for at least the eighth consecutive quarter.
\n
Besides the comfort of income coming from regulated utility businesses, investors can look to get a cheaper stake in the secular growth of renewable energy by buying NextEra during a downturn. According to NextEra, its Energy Resources subsidiary is the world's largest generator of wind and solar energy, and it also owns growing battery storage assets. Utilizing a market drop to grow a position in NextEra Energy could complement other portions of a portfolio well, and makes a good addition to the diverse group of three stocks discussed above.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Unstoppable Stocks to Buy in a Bear Market
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Unstoppable Stocks to Buy in a Bear Market\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-11-02 23:44 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
When the market is tumbling, many investors find themselves either frozen by fear or having too many choices to make a decision. Without really planning it, I decided to add to that tweet — making a live thread tracking the global policy pivot from rate cuts to rate hikes. Since then I’ve noted rate increases both large and small by the central banks of Azerbaijan, Zambia, Brazil, Russia, Iceland, Angola, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Norway, and New Zealand, to name a few. In total, I have counted 94 interest rate hikes across 36 central banks so far this year.
\n
Now obviously if this was just one rate hike by one central bank, or even a handful, it might not even warrant a mention. But when you start talking about these kinds of numbers, it’s hard not to notice a pattern. In that respect, the chart below does a good job of mapping that pattern precisely:
\n

\n
It shows the proportion of central banks in rate-hike mode (defined as the last interest rate move being an increase). After dropping to zero early in 2020, fully two-thirds of emerging market central banks now have pivoted into rate-hike mode.
\n
There are a few common themes as to why countries around the world are raising rates, including inflation, currency and financial stability. Let’s take a closer look:
\n
Inflation: We quickly went from few people talking about inflation at the start of the year to inflation being perhaps the hot macro topic of the past few months.
\n
Base effects (easier to record a higher pace of growth when comparing to a low base), bounce backs (reopening + stimulus = strong demand), and backlogs (supply-chain hell) combined to drive a sharp shift in both inflation and inflation expectations.
\n
Emerging economies are particularly sensitive to inflation. In recent times, as a group, they’ve tended to see an annual rate of inflation twice that which you would see in developed economies. Moreover, you only need to go back just over 20 years to see hyperinflation in emerging economies (as a group they saw peak inflation of 115% in 1993, and double-digit inflation all the way through to 2000).
\n

\n
Think about your average emerging market central bank governor — many of them were probably junior economists 20 years ago. Their formative years were no doubt heavily influenced by runaway inflation. Little wonder then they are hot on the trigger to hike rates as inflation heats up.
\n
Currency: Many central banks have also lifted rates in effort to prop their currencies up as the U.S. dollar strengthens. The line of reasoning here is two-fold: higher inflation (all else equal) means a fundamentally weaker currency, and higher interest rates appeal to carry traders looking to bank the higher yields: bringing flows and lifting demand for a country’s currency.
\n
Financial stability: This term is basically a euphemism for “try not to blow up bubbles.” In other words, if you keep rates too low for too long you risk igniting asset-price bubbles, which if they burst in a chaotic fashion can trigger financial instability. Case in point: the housing bubble of the mid-2000s, its subsequent bursting and the ensuing Great Financial Crisis.
\n
On that note, we probably should pay more attention to this aspect, as developed-economy housing market valuations have already sailed past the pre-financial crisis highs.
\n

\n
Yes that’s right: Ultra-low borrowing costs have helped push housing market valuations in some countries well above pre-financial crisis levels. This is one reason why it’s said that monetary policy is a blunt tool — it roughly does the job when it comes to avoiding deeper economic recessions and depressions, but the price is often higher asset prices.
\n
\n “Expect less of a tailwind for risk assets, upward pressure on borrowing costs, and likely more volatile markets going forward.”\n
\n
The global policy pivot to rate hikes (likely to be soon joined by Canada and the U.K.) means investors can expect incrementally less of a tailwind for risk assets, upward pressure on borrowing costs, and likely more volatile markets going forward.
\n
Indeed, mapping out the previous paths in policy, the chart below shows how shifts from easing to tightening at best means a leveling-out or regime shift in the market; e.g. from a near vertical line to more chopping and ranging. At worst, if tight enough for long enough, this policy change can trigger an outright shift from bull market to bear market.
\n

\n
You might be thinking, what do all these random small, emerging-market central banks hiking interest rates have to do with the S&P500? You’ve probably heard the saying that when the Fed sneezes, the rest of the world catches a cold, but in this sense, given the Fed is still likely to be dragging its feet on policy for some time, it’s almost more that the rest of the world catches a cold and U.S. equities sneeze.
\n
You only need to go back to 2015-16 where much of the volatility in U.S. markets back then was driven or triggered by issues in China and emerging markets, or in the post-financial crisis period when the eurozone debt crisis was raging and weighing on global investor sentiment.
\n
Beyond regional crises — which can be precipitated by premature stimulus removal — the bigger issue is the common themes motivating monetary policy.
\n
While each central bank has its own set of circumstances, the common theme is a reaction to higher inflation, stronger growth and a desire to avoid overcooking markets. It’s the smaller/developing-country central banks that are most exposed to these global trends, and so we can look at them as bellwethers or leading indicators.
\n
The forces in motion that triggered a rate hike in Mozambique are the same forces that will ultimately drive the Fed to step away from stimulus.
\n
It may take time, but one thing I know to be true is that these things go in cycles. While it looks and feels like the Fed has your back forever in the markets right now, this won’t be always true. “Don’t fight the Fed” means swim with the tide, not against it, and the tides here are clearly turning.
","source":"lsy1603348471595","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
How one interest-rate hike by a small African nation could derail Powell’s Fed policy plans and sink stocks
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nHow one interest-rate hike by a small African nation could derail Powell’s Fed policy plans and sink stocks\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-11-23 10:01 GMT+8 MarketWatch\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Investors need to stop obsessing about the Fed taper and pay attention to the dozens of central banks that have hiked rates so far this year\nMarketWatch photo illustration/Getty Images, iStockphoto\n...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{".SPX":"S&P 500 Index",".IXIC":"NASDAQ Composite",".DJI":"道琼斯"},"source_url":"https://www.marketwatch.com/story/how-one-interest-rate-hike-by-a-small-african-nation-could-derail-powells-fed-policy-plans-and-sink-stocks-11637625129?mod=home-page","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1150397775","content_text":"Investors need to stop obsessing about the Fed taper and pay attention to the dozens of central banks that have hiked rates so far this year\nMarketWatch photo illustration/Getty Images, iStockphoto\nThe Federal Reserve is beginning the first phase of its very gentle, very conditional, very cautious path to stimulus removal. Fed Chair Jerome Powell, just nominated for a second term at the helm of the U.S. central bank, is intent on pushing back against any speculation about thinking about talking about rate hikes.\nBut around the rest of the world, something quite different is going on in the halls of central monetary authorities from Latin America to Eastern Europe, Africa, and lately even some developed-market countries.\nBack in January 2021 I wrote a half-joking, half-serious tweet, remarking that the 300-basis point interest rate hike by the Bank of Mozambique was a “Sign of things to come…”\nIt was Mozambique’s first interest-rate hike in four years, and came in response to what it described at the time as a “substantial upward revision of its outlook for inflation.”\nFast-forward 10 months. Since then I’ve noted rate increases both large and small by the central banks of Azerbaijan, Zambia, Brazil, Russia, Iceland, Angola, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Norway, and New Zealand, to name a few. But when you start talking about these kinds of numbers, it’s hard not to notice a pattern. In that respect, the chart below does a good job of mapping that pattern precisely:\n\nIt shows the proportion of central banks in rate-hike mode (defined as the last interest rate move being an increase). After dropping to zero early in 2020, fully two-thirds of emerging market central banks now have pivoted into rate-hike mode.\nThere are a few common themes as to why countries around the world are raising rates, including inflation, currency and financial stability. Let’s take a closer look:\nInflation: We quickly went from few people talking about inflation at the start of the year to inflation being perhaps the hot macro topic of the past few months.\nBase effects (easier to record a higher pace of growth when comparing to a low base), bounce backs (reopening + stimulus = strong demand), and backlogs (supply-chain hell) combined to drive a sharp shift in both inflation and inflation expectations.\nEmerging economies are particularly sensitive to inflation. While it looks and feels like the Fed has your back forever in the markets right now, this won’t be always true. “Don’t fight the Fed” means swim with the tide, not against it, and the tides here are clearly turning.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1042,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":872406896,"gmtCreate":1637555156172,"gmtModify":1637555156223,"author":{"id":"3583115196374303","authorId":"3583115196374303","name":"Edneo","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/85d0e2c5da3f12ead3681c1ff7c88f80","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583115196374303","authorIdStr":"3583115196374303"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Is Ford undervalued?","listText":"Is Ford undervalued?","text":"Is Ford undervalued?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/872406896","repostId":"1112644299","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1038,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":696337719,"gmtCreate":1640616635376,"gmtModify":1640616635472,"author":{"id":"3583115196374303","authorId":"3583115196374303","name":"Edneo","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/85d0e2c5da3f12ead3681c1ff7c88f80","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583115196374303","authorIdStr":"3583115196374303"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good news! Not bad?\nThe folks at Bespoke Investment Group say that Thanksgiving week has lent itself to a modest gain for stocks dating back to 1945.\nThe researchers say that since that point, “the entire week of Thanksgiving has averaged a 60 basis points, or 0.60 percentage point, advance for the S&P 500,with the best returns coming on Wednesday before the holiday and Black Friday, and the only decline on average on Monday, the start of the week.\nBESPOKE INVESTMENT GROUP\nBespoke, however, says that more recently, gains have shifted to Mondays in Thanksgiving week, with small declines on Tuesday and rallies on the last two days of the session.\nThe prospects of gains may be heartening to investors considering the prospect of inflation fears and uncertainty about the leadership of the Federal Reserve, with President Biden expected to decide whether to extend Jerome Powell’s tenure as Fed chairman, which ends in Feburary or possible turn to Fed Gov. Lael Brainard.\nMarkets closed mostly lower on the Friday before Thanksgiving, with the S&P 500 booking a gain of 0.4%, the Nasdaq Composite posting a weekly gain of 1.2% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average closing ending lower for a second week in a row, off 1.4%.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1034,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":879990229,"gmtCreate":1636675017339,"gmtModify":1636675017460,"author":{"id":"3583115196374303","authorId":"3583115196374303","name":"Edneo","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/85d0e2c5da3f12ead3681c1ff7c88f80","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583115196374303","authorIdStr":"3583115196374303"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"🚀 🚀 ","listText":"🚀 🚀 ","text":"🚀 🚀","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/879990229","repostId":"1168146680","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1168146680","pubTimestamp":1636674589,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1168146680?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-11-12 07:49","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Blink Charging Stock Pops On Record Revenue, But Earnings Miss","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1168146680","media":"Yahoo Finance","summary":"Blink Charging(BLNK), which supplies a network of charging stations for electric vehicles, reported ","content":"
Blink Charging(BLNK), which supplies a network of charging stations for electric vehicles, reported record Q3 earnings Thursday, but missed earnings estimates.
