from abroad, a company representative said on Thursday.
\n
According to Athena Bitcoin's website you can use their ATMs to buy bitcoins or sell them for cash.
\n
The firm expects to gradually install some 1,500 ATMs, hire staff and open an office to carry out operations in El Salvador, which in June became the first country to adopt bitcoin as legal tender. The move takes effect in September.
\n
El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele \"presented us with a tough challenge of 1,500 ATMs, we will go for that, but in phases. We are a private company and we want to ensure that our development in the country is sustainable,\" said the firm's director for Latin America Matias Goldenhörn.
\n
Bukele has touted the cryptocurrency's potential as a remittance currency for Salvadorans overseas.
\n
\"Initially we are going to bring dozens of machines, (we'll) test what the business model is like in El Salvador, which will probably be different than in the United States,\" Goldenhörn added.
\n
A year ago Athena installed its first cryptocurrency ATM in El Salvador's El Zonte beach, some 49 km (30 mi) southwest of capital San Salvador, as part of an experiment called Bitcoin Beach aimed at making the town one of the world's first bitcoin economies.
\n
The World Bank has said it cannot assist El Salvador's bitcoin implementation given environmental and transparency drawbacks, and the International Monetary Fund has said it saw \"macroeconomic, financial and legal issues\" with the country's adoption of the cryptocurrency.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; 27 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks advanced slightly on Thursday, as data showing improvement in the labor market helped bolster expectations in the economic recovery and spurred a minor rotation towards stocks seen as more likely to benefit from the rebound.

The number of Americans filing new unemployment claims dropped more than expected last week to a 14-month low of 406,000 as pandemic restrictions continue to be lifted, while a separate report showed business spending on equipment picked up speed.

The data helped lift U.S. Treasury yields, with the benchmark 10-year note reaching a high of 1.625% and denting the attractiveness of higher-growth names in areas such as technology while helping those seen as more likely to benefit from an improving economy such as financials and small caps .

Still, the 10-year yield remained within the range it has been in for several days, which served to keep inflation concerns in check and limited the rotation within sectors.

Investors have been closely watching economic data and comments from Federal Reserve officials for signs of runaway inflation and the possibility the central bank may begin to pull back on its massive stimulus measures.

\"When you look at the jobless claims that actually shows we're continuing to make progress, if we get a strong jobs report in the next release that's going to provide some support, until then there's uncertainty so I don't think there's a lot of momentum either way,\" said Brad McMillan, chief investment officer for Commonwealth Financial Network, in Waltham, Mass.

\"We've had the Fed come out and say we're going to continue to support things but now we're starting to be a little bit nervous, that's obviously a headwind.\"

Unofficially, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 136.72 points, or 0.4%, to 34,459.77, the S&P 500 gained 4.81 points, or 0.11%, to 4,200.8 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 1.62 points, or 0.01%, to 13,736.38.

Weighed down by weakness in tech shares, the Nasdaq underperformed the Dow and S&P.

U.S. planemaker Boeing climbed after its European rival Airbus outlined an almost two-fold increase in production, citing a strong recovery in aviation from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Boeing supplier General Electric jumped and the two were the biggest boost to the S&P industrials , the best performing sector on the day.

Investors will now look to the personal consumption expenditure report due on Friday as it is the central bank's preferred inflation measure for its 2% long-term target.

Fed officials have repeatedly maintained in recent days that the central bank is not ready to adjust its monetary support, although some have suggested they are open to begin discussing the reduction of its bond-buying plan. On Thursday, Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas President Robert Kaplan said the labor market is tighter than many realize.

Strategists expect the S&P 500 to end the year at about 4,300, according to a Reuters poll. The benchmark index is currently less than 1% away from its record high of 4,238.04 points.

Nvidia Corp forecast second-quarter revenue above analysts' estimates, but shares fell as the chipmaker could not say for certain how much of its recent revenue rise was driven by the volatile cryptocurrency-mining market.

(Reporting by Chuck Mikolajczak; While ChargePoint supports the infrastructure package, and would almost certainly be a beneficiary of its passage, the company doesn't need that catalyst for its charging network to grow rapidly.

Investors should play the odds and think long-term

Betting on the EV sector is not a short-term strategy. But if the exponential global growth to more than 54 million vehicles by 2040 materializes, today's high valuations in the sector could eventually be more than justified. It's possible that automakers will try to have proprietary networks similar to Tesla's(NASDAQ:TSLA)supercharger network model. But asautomakersramp up EV production, it would seem to make more sense for them to focus on what they know best, potentially including battery production.

For an investor wanting to speculate for big gains, charging companies have an established business in a quickly growing sector. But if the exponential global growth to more than 54 million vehicles by 2040 materializes, today's high valuations in the sector could eventually be more than justified. Just looking at the two with the highest and lowest 2020 revenue, respectively, theprice-to-sales ratiosare about 50 for ChargePoint, but 250 for Blink Charging(NASDAQ:BLNK).A bet on the charging network sector has no guarantee of success, of course. Dogecoin keeps going up as Elon Musk or others excite retail trader interest. But if that's the only reason it's rising, it can't continue long term. A charging company like ChargePoint should have better odds at providing long-term gains.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":409,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":194434994,"gmtCreate":1621391743518,"gmtModify":1631893805891,"author":{"id":"3581815163829781","authorId":"3581815163829781","name":"JOBF","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c7a151e7ee93a96cc03b2ca27371f8b2","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581815163829781","authorIdStr":"3581815163829781"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"👍","listText":"👍","text":"👍","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/194434994","repostId":"2136999458","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2136999458","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Reuters.com brings you the latest news from around the world, covering breaking news in markets, business, politics, entertainment and technology","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Reuters","id":"1036604489","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/443ce19704621c837795676028cec868"},"pubTimestamp":1621372003,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2136999458?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-05-19 05:06","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Wall Street closes lower on weak telecom stocks despite strong retail earnings","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2136999458","media":"Reuters","summary":"May 18 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks ended down on Tuesday, slumping on a sharp decline in telecom stocks ","content":"
May 18 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks ended down on Tuesday, slumping on a sharp decline in telecom stocks and weak housing starts data that overshadowed better-than-expected earnings from Walmart and Home Depot.

AT&T Inc shed 5.8%, among the biggest percentage decliners in the benchmark S&P 500. labor ","content":"

Boeing climbs on rival Airbus' strong forecast

Nvidia beats forecast but shares dip

Kaplan says labor market tighter than realized

NEW YORK, May 27 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks advanced slightly on Thursday, as data showing improvement in the labor market helped bolster expectations in the economic recovery and spurred a minor rotation towards stocks seen as more likely to benefit from the rebound.

(Reporting by Chuck Mikolajczak; 27 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks advanced slightly on Thursday, as data showing improvement in the labor market helped bolster expectations in the economic recovery and spurred a minor rotation towards stocks seen as more likely to benefit from the rebound.

(Reporting by Chuck Mikolajczak;
