And the pace of adoption of EVs is faster than you think, at least in some parts of the world. Take China, for example. EVs accounted for almost 12% of total vehicle sales in the world's top EV market in the first half of 2021.
\n
In fact, wherever you look, the biggest automakers in the world are lining up investments worth billions of dollars to ensure they don't miss the race. You may not want to miss the race, either, so if you're looking to bet on electric vehicles, here are two top stocks you'd want to buy now.
\n
Giving its hot-seller pickups an electrifying lift
\n
Ford(NYSE:F)is in a much stronger position now than it was roughly a year ago thanks to a leadership change. And one area where Ford is speeding ahead under CEO Jim Farley is electric vehicles. Evidence lies in Ford's latest monthly sales.
\n
Ford's total retail sales increased 34% sequentially in the month of September, and it entered of October with an inventory of 236,000 vehicles, up more than 21,000 from one month prior. That's a strong indicator that Ford may have found a workaround to tackle the ongoing global semiconductor chip shortage that's hit the automotive industry the hardest. While that's impressive, the biggest highlight from its sales numbers – that of EVs -- is even more notable.
\n
Ford sold a record number of 9,150 EVs in September, up 91.6% year over year. Demand for its F-150 Lightning pickups remains strong: Reservations crossed 150,000 in September, up from 100,000 as of the end of the second quarter.
\n
Of course, it remains to be seen how many of those reservations convert into orders, but Ford's success with F-150 pickups in the U.S. over the decades has been unmistakable, and the company'slaunch of Mustang Mach-E all-electric SUVs has been hugely impressive as well: Ford sold 18,855 Mach-Es through September, second only to Tesla's(NASDAQ:TSLA) Model Y.
\n
Ford is, in fact, going full throttle on EVs, having already committed to investing more than $30 billion in EVs through 2025 and projecting 40%-50% of its global vehicle sales volumes to be fully electric by as early as 2030.
\n
Ford's stock may have been on a torrid run this year, but this could just be the beginning if Ford's F-150 Lightning can replicate even half the success the auto maker has had with its trucks so far. With Ford's third-quarter numbers also coming out anytime now, this one's an EV stock for the long-term believer.
\n
Hungry for growth in the world's largest EV market
\n
Nio(NYSE:NIO)is trying to give Tesla a run for its money in China, and that's no mean feat for a company that's already the \"Tesla of China.\"
\n
Nio is growing at lightning speed, with deliveries hitting records month after month. And the pace of adoption of EVs is faster than you think, at least in some parts of the world. Take China, for example. EVs accounted for almost 12% of total vehicle sales in the world's top EV market in the first half of 2021.\nIn fact, wherever you look, the biggest automakers in the world are lining up investments worth billions of dollars to ensure they don't miss the race. You may not want to miss the race, either, so if you're looking to bet on electric vehicles, here are two top stocks you'd want to buy now.\nGiving its hot-seller pickups an electrifying lift\nFord(NYSE:F)is in a much stronger position now than it was roughly a year ago thanks to a leadership change. And one area where Ford is speeding ahead under CEO Jim Farley is electric vehicles. The company is growing its Cash App, which enables users to store and send money. Now with 40 million monthly users, Cash App has a long growth runway ahead of it. Square is seeking to complement its business with new features over time, such as Buy Now and Pay Later via Afterpay.
\n
The Afterpay acquisition will give it access to 16 million consumers located both inside and outside of the United States. It could give the company momentum for expansion of Cash App in new markets, especially those where consumers are underbanked, like in emerging markets. Square reported net income of $574 million for Q2 2021 which was an increase of 89% year over year. In addition, the company has experienced revenue growth of 188% over the past three years. With more opportunities to expand on the horizon, this stock could be a great place for tech investors to look.
\n
2. Tesla
\n
\n
\n
\n
Analyst estimated 3-5 year earnings per share growth rate:
\n
37%
\n
\n
\n
\n
Tesla's (NASDAQ:TSLA) Model S pioneered the electric vehicle industry a decade ago. It's continuing to ramp up its deliveries years later, and Tesla could continue to grow through its other ventures, including solar energy and autonomous driving. The electric car market is growing more than 20% per year and the market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 34% by 2027. So Tesla's leadership (79% market share in the U.S.) in the category could translate to ongoing growth over the coming years.
\n
Tesla's revenue has grown 50% per year on average over the past five years, and the business is thriving. The Cybertruck hasn't yet entered production, and its presence could further disrupt legacy automakers, especially domestic competitors who rely on pickup trucks as their most profitable models. As the company reported net income of $1 billion for the second quarter which was nearly a 1,000% gain over last year, investors have plenty to look forward to.
\n
3. Netflix
\n
\n
\n
\n
Analyst estimated 3-5 year earnings per share growth rate:
\n
30%
\n
\n
\n
\n
Young investors might have a hard time believing that there was no such thing as streaming just over a decade ago. Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) transitioned from mail-order DVDs to streaming content in 2007, and the rest is history. Today, Netflix makes much of its own content and is expanding outside of the United States, while getting into gaming, which could continue to drive its growth moving forward.
\n
The company has spent years investing to build its own content, no longer relying on third-party partners to license it. Netflix has begun to generate robust operating cash flow, $713 million over the first six months of this year, despite investing a whopping $7 billion in new content. This high rate of investment creates a competitive moat that few others can afford to spend to compete with. Since Netflix has reported net income growth of 128% and revenue growth of 58% over the past three years, the company's content investment seems worthwhile.
\n
4. Facebook
\n
\n
\n
\n
Analyst estimated 3-5 year earnings per share growth rate:
\n
22%
\n
\n
\n
\n
Social media is now one of the primary ways people interact, maintain relationships, and make friends. Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) not only owns its namesake social media platform but other leading networks such as Instagram and messaging app WhatsApp. Altogether, more than 2.8 billion people use a Facebook product each month. That massive number of users creates substantial revenue streams for the company through advertising. Over the past five years, the company has reported revenue growth of 211% and net income growth of 185%, showing the billions of users have translated into serious cash.
\n
Facebook's long-term frontier has become the metaverse, which Mark Zuckerberg has personally stressed the importance of to the company's future. The company already owns virtual reality hardware company Oculus and is dedicating a full staff to working on its metaverse business. The metaverse could be worth as much as $280 billion by 2025, and Facebook wants to make sure its advertising presence is felt within it.
\n
5. Shopify
\n
\n
\n
\n
Analyst estimated 3-5 year earnings per share growth rate:
\n
27%
\n
\n
\n
\n
Small businesses need to compete in e-commerce to thrive in today's environment, and Shopify (NYSE:SHOP) helps them do it by providing the software for any merchant to own and operate an online store. More than 1.7 million merchants use Shopify's platform, and it cumulatively drives more web traffic than Amazon. There are tens of millions of merchants around the world, providing a huge addressable market for Shopify, which could continue growing for years. That addressable market has already shown growth with the company reporting revenue of $1 billion in the second quarter, up 57% year over year.
\n
As of this summer, Shopify is now powering e-commerce functions within TikTok, the video-based social media platform with one billion monthly active users. E-commerce and social media have begun to integrate in recent years, and Shopify's new presence on TikTok could \"move the needle\" on growing that 1.7 million merchant base. This growth could be the tip of the iceberg for this company in the long term.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
5 Top Tech Stocks to Buy for the Long Haul
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n5 Top Tech Stocks to Buy for the Long Haul\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-10-13 20:15 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
The world we live in is more digital than ever. Since Netflix has reported net income growth of 128% and revenue growth of 58% over the past three years, the company's content investment seems worthwhile.\n4. Facebook\n\n\n\nAnalyst estimated 3-5 year earnings per share growth rate:\n22%\n\n\n\nSocial media is now one of the primary ways people interact, maintain relationships, and make friends. Over the past five years, the company has reported revenue growth of 211% and net income growth of 185%, showing the billions of users have translated into serious cash.\nFacebook's long-term frontier has become the metaverse, which Mark Zuckerberg has personally stressed the importance of to the company's future. The company already owns virtual reality hardware company Oculus and is dedicating a full staff to working on its metaverse business. The metaverse could be worth as much as $280 billion by 2025, and Facebook wants to make sure its advertising presence is felt within it.\n5. Shopify\n\n\n\nAnalyst estimated 3-5 year earnings per share growth rate:\n27%\n\n\n\nSmall businesses need to compete in e-commerce to thrive in today's environment, and Shopify (NYSE:SHOP) helps them do it by providing the software for any merchant to own and operate an online store. More than 1.7 million merchants use Shopify's platform, and it cumulatively drives more web traffic than Amazon. There are tens of millions of merchants around the world, providing a huge addressable market for Shopify, which could continue growing for years. That addressable market has already shown growth with the company reporting revenue of $1 billion in the second quarter, up 57% year over year.\nAs of this summer, Shopify is now powering e-commerce functions within TikTok, the video-based social media platform with one billion monthly active users. E-commerce and social media have begun to integrate in recent years, and Shopify's new presence on TikTok could \"move the needle\" on growing that 1.7 million merchant base. This growth could be the tip of the iceberg for this company in the long term.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":677,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":821146580,"gmtCreate":1633709381874,"gmtModify":1633709382000,"author":{"id":"3574918679143211","authorId":"3574918679143211","name":"Victoriapsy","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574918679143211","authorIdStr":"3574918679143211"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like","listText":"Like","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/821146580","repostId":"1195699682","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1195699682","pubTimestamp":1633706084,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1195699682?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-10-08 23:14","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Morgan Stanley Doubles Down On Doom: Calls For \"Fire And Ice\" Correction","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1195699682","media":"zerohedge","summary":"Three weeks ago, when the markets were gripped by a brief but sharp selloff over fears of Evergrande","content":"
Three weeks ago, when the markets were gripped by a brief but sharp selloff over fears of Evergrande default contagtion (which certainly remains on the table), Morgan Stanley's Mike Wilsontook the opportunityto pour some fuel on the fire, or rather \"ice\", and warned that odds of a \"destructive\" 20% correction are rising.
\n
As a reminder, for much of the summer, Wilson had been predicting that the current market meltup would end either in \"fire\", i.e. a sharp market correction...
\n

\n
or or \"Ice\", with consumer spending grinding to a halt...
\n

\n
Pointing to his two gloomy predictions during the \"Evergrande Monday\" plunge, Wilson wrote that \"the ice scenario would be worse for marketsand we are leaning in that directiongiven the fall in consumer confidence and reset lower in PMIs we expect.\" This is what he said, in the context of his longer running thesis that the \"mid-cycle\" is about to have a painful correction as we gradually transition into late cycle:
\n
\n The typical mid-cycle \"fire\" outcome would lead to a modest and healthy 10% correction in the S&P 500. It hasn't helped that management has made some missteps with its Tread recall, which lost the company a fair amount of goodwill with customers and investors back in April.
\n
But if we take a step back and look at Peloton as a growth stock, the long-term story is still strong. The company's user base is growing, its product lineup is expanding, and financial performance is getting better. Here's why I think this stock could be a value in today's market.
\n
Subscriptions are the key
\n
If Peloton is going to be successful as a company, it won't be because it makes or sells bikes. It'll be because it generates growing, high-margin subscription revenue. And on that front, the company is doing very well.
\n
Subscription revenue was up 132% year over year in the fiscal fourth quarter to $281.6 million, and gross profit from subscriptions was up 159% to $178.1 million.
\n
The subscription business is also a big reason the company's move into corporate wellness and hotel and resort settings is so important. Peloton has been able to attract millions of active members, but reaching new customers who are allowing others to use their Peloton equipment and subscriptions at rental locations can be another way to leverage the company's equipment and content base.
\n
Expanding on a strong core
\n
In fiscal 2018, Peloton was almost entirely a stationary cycling company, with cycling accounting for about 85% of the company's workouts. But in the past three years, the company has expanded how people use its products. Strength programs are now about 20% of workouts, and floor content is around 10%. Cycling is now less than 60% of the workouts done in any given year, and shrinking.
\n
I think this is a sign that Peloton is building a product that's attractive to more users and becoming stickier for subscribers. If Peloton has something for everyone, it's going to provide much more value to subscribers long-term.
\n
In time, we could even see Peloton slowly raise subscription prices because of the value it's providing.
\n
Peloton has growth opportunities ahead
\n
After acquiring its own manufacturing facility in the U.S., Peloton now has more control of not only manufacturing and inventory but also new product development. We know a new Tread is on the way, and improved bikes are likely as well.
\n
I think Peloton could also expand into home strength equipment and even wearables. Peloton is already a critical fitness tool for members, so why not deepen that relationship?
\n
The company has a lot of opportunities to expand its product footprint and engage even more with customers. As it does, the incremental benefit to users from more digital content makes a Peloton subscription that much more valuable.
\n
The growth story isn't over
\n
There are a number of potential threats to Peloton's business, from Apple's growing suite of fitness content to the reopening of gyms around the world. But I think the content library that Peloton has built along with the installed base of bikes and treadmills will make this a formidable fitness company for years. Remember that the value of Peloton is in the number of users subscribing to and using the company's workout content -- and with 459.7 million workouts done by Peloton customers in the last year, this is a workout company that has a huge lead over the competition in at-home workouts.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Why Peloton Stock Is Becoming a Value
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nWhy Peloton Stock Is Becoming a Value\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-10-05 23:26 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Share prices of Peloton Interactive (NASDAQ:PTON) are 51% off all-time highs set in mid-January, caught up in an investing trend that instead favors COVID-19 recovery stocks. But in the past three years, the company has expanded how people use its products. Strength programs are now about 20% of workouts, and floor content is around 10%. Cycling is now less than 60% of the workouts done in any given year, and shrinking.\nI think this is a sign that Peloton is building a product that's attractive to more users and becoming stickier for subscribers. If Peloton has something for everyone, it's going to provide much more value to subscribers long-term.\nIn time, we could even see Peloton slowly raise subscription prices because of the value it's providing.\nPeloton has growth opportunities ahead\nAfter acquiring its own manufacturing facility in the U.S., Peloton now has more control of not only manufacturing and inventory but also new product development. We know a new Tread is on the way, and improved bikes are likely as well.\nI think Peloton could also expand into home strength equipment and even wearables. Peloton is already a critical fitness tool for members, so why not deepen that relationship?\nThe company has a lot of opportunities to expand its product footprint and engage even more with customers. As it does, the incremental benefit to users from more digital content makes a Peloton subscription that much more valuable.\nThe growth story isn't over\nThere are a number of potential threats to Peloton's business, from Apple's growing suite of fitness content to the reopening of gyms around the world. But I think the content library that Peloton has built along with the installed base of bikes and treadmills will make this a formidable fitness company for years. Remember that the value of Peloton is in the number of users subscribing to and using the company's workout content -- and with 459.7 million workouts done by Peloton customers in the last year, this is a workout company that has a huge lead over the competition in at-home workouts.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":466,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":866829889,"gmtCreate":1632754445041,"gmtModify":1632798063100,"author":{"id":"3574918679143211","authorId":"3574918679143211","name":"Victoriapsy","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574918679143211","authorIdStr":"3574918679143211"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Quite insightful","listText":"Quite insightful","text":"Quite insightful","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/866829889","repostId":"2170238006","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2170238006","pubTimestamp":1632751391,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2170238006?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-09-27 22:03","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Stocks to Avoid This Week","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2170238006","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"These investments seem pretty vulnerable right now.","content":"
I've been picking stocks to avoid every week, and last week I didn't do so well. Skillz
\n
The consensus Wall Street 12-month price target for Skillz (NYSE:SKLZ) is $18. That's 64% higher than the current share price. Why are analysts so bullish about this gaming stock even after it plunged 75% from highs earlier this year?
\n
For one thing, Skillz continues to deliver sizzling growth. The company reported its 22nd consecutive quarter of revenue growth in the second quarter. Sales soared 52% year over year to $89.5 million. Skillz expects full-year 2021 revenue growth of close to 63%.
\n
Analysts could also like the company's business development moves. Skillz recently acquired Aarki, which operates an artificial intelligence-based marketing platform for engaging mobile users. It also invested in Exit Games, a German company with a platform for developers to create and host multiplayer games.
\n
Skillz has a couple of other efforts that could provide a spark to its share price in the coming months as well. The company launched its partnership with the National Football League. It also rolled out a mobile version of the old-school arcade game Big Buck Hunter: Marksman.
\n
2. SoFi Technologies
\n
The average analysts' price target for SoFi Technologies (NASDAQ:SOFI) reflects a 37% premium to the current price of the stock. At least one firm -- Jefferies -- is even more bullish, initiating coverage this week with a target 47% above the current share price.
\n
Wall Street likes SoFi's growth. The company generated all-time high net revenue in the second quarter, up 101% year over year. SoFi also posted positive adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) for the fourth consecutive quarter.
\n
That growth should continue. The future opportunities for fintech companies are tremendous. Online lending and investing, along with digital payments, remain in their early stages.
\n
SoFi also has one thing that sets it apart from other fintech companies. Its Galileo unit provides services for other fintech platforms. Galileo now has nearly 79 million accounts, more than twice as much as a year ago.
\n
3. Trupanion
\n
Trupanion (NASDAQ:TRUP) stands out as another stock that Wall Street thinks will take off over the next 12 months. The consensus price target for Trupanion is nearly 49% above the current share price.
\n
Like Skillz and SoFi, Trupanion is well off its highs from earlier this year. However, the pet medical insurer continues to deliver strong growth. Trupanion's revenue jumped 43% year over year in Q2. Its total enrolled pets increased 38% to more than 1 million.
\n
Trupanion is also launching new products and services. It recently rolled out PHI Direct, an online lower-cost pet medical insurance plan, in Canada. The company plans to introduce a pet food subscription plan under the Landspath brand.
\n
In the U.S., only around 1% of all cats and dogs are covered by medical insurance. The number is a little higher in Canada but still much lower than in European countries. Trupanion could prove Wall Street's optimism is warranted if it continues to cover greater numbers of pets in the U.S. and Canada.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Stocks Wall Street Thinks Will Soar 37% to 64% Within the Next 12 Months
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Stocks Wall Street Thinks Will Soar 37% to 64% Within the Next 12 Months\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-09-24 19:29 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Wall Street analysts don't have a crystal ball that allows them to accurately predict how stocks will perform. Skillz recently acquired Aarki, which operates an artificial intelligence-based marketing platform for engaging mobile users. It also invested in Exit Games, a German company with a platform for developers to create and host multiplayer games.\nSkillz has a couple of other efforts that could provide a spark to its share price in the coming months as well. The company launched its partnership with the National Football League. It also rolled out a mobile version of the old-school arcade game Big Buck Hunter: Marksman.\n2. SoFi Technologies\nThe average analysts' price target for SoFi Technologies (NASDAQ:SOFI) reflects a 37% premium to the current price of the stock. At least one firm -- Jefferies -- is even more bullish, initiating coverage this week with a target 47% above the current share price.\nWall Street likes SoFi's growth. The company generated all-time high net revenue in the second quarter, up 101% year over year. SoFi also posted positive adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) for the fourth consecutive quarter.\nThat growth should continue. The future opportunities for fintech companies are tremendous. Online lending and investing, along with digital payments, remain in their early stages.\nSoFi also has one thing that sets it apart from other fintech companies. Its Galileo unit provides services for other fintech platforms. Galileo now has nearly 79 million accounts, more than twice as much as a year ago.\n3. Trupanion\nTrupanion (NASDAQ:TRUP) stands out as another stock that Wall Street thinks will take off over the next 12 months. The consensus price target for Trupanion is nearly 49% above the current share price.\nLike Skillz and SoFi, Trupanion is well off its highs from earlier this year. However, the pet medical insurer continues to deliver strong growth. Trupanion's revenue jumped 43% year over year in Q2. Its total enrolled pets increased 38% to more than 1 million.\nTrupanion is also launching new products and services. It recently rolled out PHI Direct, an online lower-cost pet medical insurance plan, in Canada. The company plans to introduce a pet food subscription plan under the Landspath brand.\nIn the U.S., only around 1% of all cats and dogs are covered by medical insurance. The number is a little higher in Canada but still much lower than in European countries. Trupanion could prove Wall Street's optimism is warranted if it continues to cover greater numbers of pets in the U.S. and Canada.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":727,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":861683023,"gmtCreate":1632491793462,"gmtModify":1632717498400,"author":{"id":"3574918679143211","authorId":"3574918679143211","name":"Victoriapsy","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574918679143211","authorIdStr":"3574918679143211"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Looking good","listText":"Looking good","text":"Looking good","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/861683023","repostId":"1187429122","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1187429122","pubTimestamp":1632401507,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1187429122?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-09-23 20:51","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Salesforce raises full-year outlook;
