Priced at $149,990, it was to feature a range of 520 miles, thanks to its innovative 4680 battery cells, 1,100 horsepower and the ability to speed from 0 to 60 mph in less than two seconds.
\n
Instead, the company has begun delivering a new Model S Plaid that has only a 390-mile range and 1,020 horsepower, though it still sprints to from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just two seconds.
\n
As a way to “sugar coat” its flip flop, Tesla said the Model S Plaid is just as fast as the Model S Plaid Plus and $20,000 cheaper. Humm.
\n
This “bait and switch” has some Tesla fans worried, since they had deposits on the Model S Plaid Plus and wanted the innovative 4680 battery cells that Tesla had been touting as the key to longer range and more power. Essentially, the 4680 battery cells were the latest great Tesla development, since they were the first batteries to also be a structural component that supposedly allowed Tesla to lower the weight of its vehicles.
\n
Both the company’s Austin and Berlin manufacturing plants now under construction are supposed to also be making the 4680 batteries for new Tesla vehicles. If there is a problem with the engineering associated with utilizing the 4680 batteries or making them a structural component, then Tesla has grossly miscalculated, which is now worrying investors.
\n
Clearly something happened to delay the 4680 batteries that were supposed to provide Tesla with a competitive and engineering edge. For Tesla’s sake, I hope they figure out the problems associated with their much hyped 4680 battery cells, otherwise concerns about its two new manufacturing plants will emerge, as well as the stock losing more of its “mojo.”
\n
As someone who owns more than a few high-performance vehicles, I can tell you that the engineering geeks I know donotwant to get a new Model S Plaid instead of a Model S Plaid Plus and will likely ask for their deposits back.
\n
What Tesla did is like Ferrari or Porsche telling its customers that one of their much-hyped new performance models is now not being sold because the base model was just as good! Car fanatics, like myself, like the latest and greatest engineering tidbits, so we would rather cancel our orders versus settle for a base model.
\n
The good news for Tesla is that its China sales in May resurged to 21,936, up sharply from 11,671 in April. The company’s sales tend to spike at the end of each quarter. For example, Tesla sold 35,478 vehicles in China in March, which was the strongest month ever in China.
\n
This is raising expectations for very strong China sales in June, especially now that the Model Y is being manufactured in Shanghai. Interestingly, since most Chinese Teslas are now made with iron phosphate batteries, these vehicles have lower range than its lithium cobalt vehicles, but its iron phosphate vehicles are cheaper and now increasingly being exported to Europe.
\n
However, I’m convinced another electric vehicle (EV) company will eventually displace Tesla as the biggest manufacturer of EVs in China.
\n
Taking Advantage of the EV Revolution’s Profit Potential
\n
I’m talking about Nio, Inc.(NYSE:NIO). The reality is that this company is on the verge of dominating the EV market in China and Hong Kong. It’s why I put NIO on myPlatinum Growth ClubModel Portfolio back in February.
\n
The company boasts that it is the “next-generation car company,” as it designs and manufactures electric vehicles that utilize the latest technologies in connectivity, autonomous driving and artificial intelligence (AI). NIO currently offers an electric seven-seater SUV (ES8) and a five-seater electric SUV (ES6) and recently introduced an attractive electric sedan (ET7). Its vehicles utilize NOMI, an in-vehicle artificial intelligence assistant.
\n
The company is also partnering with cutting-edge chip companies likeNVIDIA Corporation(NASDAQ:NVDA), another one of myPlatinum Growth ClubModel Portfolio stocks. NIO plans to use the NVIDIA DRIVE Orin system-on-a-chip for its electric vehicles that will provide autonomous driving capabilities. The NVIDIA DRIVE Orin-powered supercomputer, which is being called Adam, will be launched in the ET7 sedan in China in 2022. Announcements like this are very positive, so NIO has been stealing some of Tesla’s thunder lately.
\n
Now, it’s important to note that NIO was bailed out by the Chinese government. Last year, the Chinese government injected $1 billion and now has a 24% ownership in the company. The reality is that China wants to dominate at least five major industries by 2025, and NIO is now its ticket to dominate EV manufacturing.
\n
With the backing of the Chinese government, some Wall Street firms are eager to help NIO by issuing new debt or equity. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if NIO surpasses Tesla, which is currently number-two in China, for market share in the upcoming years.
\n
That means, if you missed Tesla’s parabolic run like I did, NIO is essentially giving us a “second chance” to make money in a potentially explosive electric vehicle company.
\n
Shares of NIO climbed nearly 13% since the company’s June 4 announcement of its May delivery report and positive analyst comments, while Tesla shares rose almost 3%. First, NIO revealed that the global chip shortage is starting to take a toll on its business. NIO only delivered 6,711 vehicles in May, or a 5.5% decline from April’s deliveries. Company management noted that deliveries were “adversely impacted for several days due to the volatility of semiconductor supply and certain logistical adjustments.”
\n
Interestingly, despite the month-to-month dip, NIO’s deliveries were still up 95.3% year-over-year. Strong demand in China even inspired a Citigroup analyst to upgrade NIO to a buy rating, as he expects demand to accelerate in the coming months.
\n
In other words, NIO represents thecrème de la crèmeof EV stocks right now.
","source":"lsy1606302653667","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Why I Believe NIO Will Beat Out Tesla
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nWhy I Believe NIO Will Beat Out Tesla\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-23 15:33 GMT+8 InvestorPlace\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
The fact that Tesla scrapped its Model S Plaid Plus release is just part of it.\n\nSuper fans of the latest and greatest high-endTesla, Inc.(NASDAQ:TSLA) model received some disappointing news a week ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"TSLA":"特斯拉","NIO":"蔚来"},"source_url":"https://investorplace.com/2021/06/why-i-believe-nio-will-beat-out-tesla/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1145825451","content_text":"The fact that Tesla scrapped its Model S Plaid Plus release is just part of it.\n\nSuper fans of the latest and greatest high-endTesla, Inc.(NASDAQ:TSLA) model received some disappointing news a week ago when CEO Elon Musk abruptly canceled the release of its highly anticipated Model S Plaid Plus with a tweet on June 6.\nSource: nrqemi / Shutterstock.com\nMusk wrote there was… “No need, as Plaid is just so good.”\nThe Model S Plaid Plus was supposed to be the fastest, most powerful and priciest version of the company’s Model S. Strong demand in China even inspired a Citigroup analyst to upgrade NIO to a buy rating, as he expects demand to accelerate in the coming months.\nIn other words, NIO represents thecrème de la crèmeof EV stocks right now.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":414,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":129666935,"gmtCreate":1624371274427,"gmtModify":1631887021409,"author":{"id":"3574812182510750","authorId":"3574812182510750","name":"daberukk","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/125530ebf668f660df11ec2044b52a98","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574812182510750","authorIdStr":"3574812182510750"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"shld've sold and bought on dip [无语] $Nokia Oyj(NOK)$","listText":"shld've sold and bought on dip [无语] $Nokia Oyj(NOK)$","text":"shld've sold and bought on dip [无语] $Nokia Oyj(NOK)$","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/129666935","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":571,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":129660173,"gmtCreate":1624371159992,"gmtModify":1634007118169,"author":{"id":"3574812182510750","authorId":"3574812182510750","name":"daberukk","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/125530ebf668f660df11ec2044b52a98","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574812182510750","authorIdStr":"3574812182510750"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"this is insanity","listText":"this is insanity","text":"this is insanity","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/129660173","repostId":"1133339567","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":202,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":168948331,"gmtCreate":1623947955423,"gmtModify":1634025366479,"author":{"id":"3574812182510750","authorId":"3574812182510750","name":"daberukk","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/125530ebf668f660df11ec2044b52a98","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574812182510750","authorIdStr":"3574812182510750"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"pump time coming soon? But generally the answer is no, these types of rallies do not tend to hold up over time. That said, there is nothing general about this situation, and we’re seeing an orchestrated effort to squeeze a handful of stocks higher. After all, GameStop has held up pretty well from its initial squeeze.
\n
Some find this price action entertaining. Others find it insulting. I just say, it is what it is. If you don’t want to participate in it, don’t. There are thousands of securities to trade on a daily basis and this affects about two dozen of them. There’s light at the end of the tunnel and we’re emerging from the novel coronavirus pandemic. Airport traffic is hitting new heights since the pandemic, while the U.S. has seen new cases plunge amid a strong vaccination push.
\n
But let’s not forget, we alsostillhave hundreds of deaths a day occurring the U.S. due to Covid-19. Globally, we’ve now had more coronavirus deaths in 2021 vs. 2020.
\n
While things are clearly improving, particularly in the U.S., we haven’t gotten the full all-clear. Further, Q1 and the beginning of Q2 were a painful reality for businesses like AMC.
\n
But thanks to the Reddit short squeeze we saw earlier in the year, the company was able to raise a substantial amount of cash. In fact, it has now done so several times, allowing AMC to bolster its balance sheet.
\n
On Jan. 25, the company announced it raised or had commitments for $917 million. More than half of this was via equity, with the rest in various forms of debt. This would help AMC “make it through this dark coronavirus-impacted winter.”
\n
Then in May, AMC brought in $428 million after selling 43 million shares at just below $10. A few weeks later in June, Mudrick Capital agreed to buy 8.5 million shares for roughly $27 apiece, raising over $230 million. That capital will be used for “acquisition opportunities and investments in existing AMC theatres.”
\n
In all, the company raised about $1.2 billion this quarter. As President and CEO Adam Aron put it,“with our increased liquidity, an increasingly vaccinated population and the imminent release of blockbuster new movie titles, it is time for AMC to go on the offense again.”
\n
Can the Rally in AMC Last?
\n
Clearly AMC stock will survive. Or at least, itshouldsurvive. It’s got more than enough capital on hand to weather whatever remains of the Covid-19 storm and truthfully, management could decide to flood the market with even more supply of stock. A 10 million share secondary offering at $50 would raise half a billion dollars.
\n
With all the raising it did in Q2 with no ill impact on the stock price, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Aron & Co. pull the trigger on another raise. In fact, I would applaud it after shares hit all-time highs at the beginning of the month.
\n
Does the company go after something like Imax Corp(NYSE:IMAX), with a market capitalization below $1.5 billion? Is that what Aron means by going on the offense?
\n
We’ll find out in the coming weeks and months, but I really think this company will be okay. That said, that doesn’t mean its stock is a good value. Trading in AMC stock is one thing. Investing in it is another.
\n
Analysts expect AMC to remain unprofitable in 2022. Further, estimates call for “just” $2.5 billion in sales this year as it still feels the impact of Covid-19. In 2022, estimates call for $4.8 billion in sales. Round it up to $5 billion and we have a stock trading at six times 2022 revenue for a firm that never had sustained operating margins above 10%, a figure that was below 5% before Covid-19.
\n
Bottom Line on AMC Stock
\n
I would really like to see the $35 level hold as support on a pullback. CLOV stock was completely under the radar not too long ago, but things can change quickly in this fast-paced market.
\n
As you may recall, Clover Health announced its plans to go public via a merger with special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) Social Capital Hedosophia Holdings III.
\n
That company traded as IPOC stock, but that’s gone now and we have CLOV stock in its place. It was an attention-grabbing event because Social Capital Hedosophia Holdings III was sponsored by none other than Chamath Palihapitiya (a.k.a., the SPAC Lord).
\n
So much has happened since then. From hype-tastic debut to SPAC-tacular failure – and now the meme target du jour – there’s an awful lot to unpack here. Ready to take a roller coaster ride?
\n
A Closer Look at CLOV Stock
\n
Prior to the aforementioned reverse merger announcement in October 2020, CLOV/IPOC stock stayed close to the $10 level.
\n
However, that announcement gave the stock a jolt, and it finished the year at nearly $17.
\n
SPAC mania faded somewhat in early 2021, and so did the Clover Health share price. In May, the stock bottomed out near $7.
\n
That’s mind-blowing, if you think about it. The post-merger disappointment was so severe that CLOV stock dropped below the pre-merger-announcement price.
\n
Come to think of it, I probably should have reserved the term “mind-blowing” for what happened next.
\n
With hardly any warning, the Clover Health share price shot up like a rocket, reaching a 52-week high of $28.85 on June 9.
\n
That moon shot was clearly unsustainable, as CLOV stock soon retraced nearly half of that move. As of June 11, it was trading at $15.03.
\n
Credit Reddit
\n
So, what the heck happened in June? Was there some spectacular news development involving Clover Health? A game-changing innovation, or perhaps a blockbuster earnings report?
\n
The answer is: none of the above. Like it or not, we must credit Reddit for the wild pop in CLOV stock.
\n
The irony runs deep here. In January, the stock tanked after Hindenburg Research suggested that Clover Health had used questionable tactics to lure retail investors into purchasing the company’s shares.
\n
And now, there’s no need to lure people into the trade as they’re gladly jumping in, often without conducting the proper due diligence.
\n
Maybe we all should have seen this coming. After all, CLOV stock checked all of the right boxes for a Reddit short-squeeze target:
\n
\n
Low-priced stock
\n
High short interest
\n
Float isn’t too large
\n
Not a blue-chip stock
\n
Company has underdog status
\n
\n
A Devastating Downgrade
\n
I have to admit, I like the idea of betting on an underdog. Still, I believe it’s wise to wait until the volatility passes before taking a position.
\n
Moreover, we might expect the analyst community to issue downgrades on CLOV stock. CLOV stock was completely under the radar not too long ago, but things can change quickly in this fast-paced market.\nAs you may recall, Clover Health announced its plans to go public via a merger with special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) Social Capital Hedosophia Holdings III.\nThat company traded as IPOC stock, but that’s gone now and we have CLOV stock in its place. It was an attention-grabbing event because Social Capital Hedosophia Holdings III was sponsored by none other than Chamath Palihapitiya (a.k.a., the SPAC Lord).\nSo much has happened since then. From hype-tastic debut to SPAC-tacular failure – and now the meme target du jour – there’s an awful lot to unpack here. Ready to take a roller coaster ride?\nA Closer Look at CLOV Stock\nPrior to the aforementioned reverse merger announcement in October 2020, CLOV/IPOC stock stayed close to the $10 level.\nHowever, that announcement gave the stock a jolt, and it finished the year at nearly $17.\nSPAC mania faded somewhat in early 2021, and so did the Clover Health share price. In May, the stock bottomed out near $7.\nThat’s mind-blowing, if you think about it. The post-merger disappointment was so severe that CLOV stock dropped below the pre-merger-announcement price.\nCome to think of it, I probably should have reserved the term “mind-blowing” for what happened next.\nWith hardly any warning, the Clover Health share price shot up like a rocket, reaching a 52-week high of $28.85 on June 9.\nThat moon shot was clearly unsustainable, as CLOV stock soon retraced nearly half of that move. As of June 11, it was trading at $15.03.\nCredit Reddit\nSo, what the heck happened in June? Was there some spectacular news development involving Clover Health? A game-changing innovation, or perhaps a blockbuster earnings report?\nThe answer is: none of the above. Like it or not, we must credit Reddit for the wild pop in CLOV stock.\nThe irony runs deep here. In January, the stock tanked after Hindenburg Research suggested that Clover Health had used questionable tactics to lure retail investors into purchasing the company’s shares.\nAnd now, there’s no need to lure people into the trade as they’re gladly jumping in, often without conducting the proper due diligence.\nMaybe we all should have seen this coming. After all, CLOV stock checked all of the right boxes for a Reddit short-squeeze target:\n\nLow-priced stock\nHigh short interest\nFloat isn’t too large\nNot a blue-chip stock\nCompany has underdog status\n\nA Devastating Downgrade\nI have to admit, I like the idea of betting on an underdog. Still, I believe it’s wise to wait until the volatility passes before taking a position.\nMoreover, we might expect the analyst community to issue downgrades on CLOV stock. In fact, one big-bank analyst has already weighed in with a not-too-optimistic outlook.\nRecently, Bank of America analysts downgraded their rating on Clover Health from “neutral” (which is similar to “hold”) to “underperform” (similar to “sell”).\nOn top of that, they assigned a $10 price target to CLOV stock. That’s pretty devastating, as it implies a 33% haircut if the stock is trading at around $15.\nBank of America analyst Kevin Fischbeck cited comparative valuation concerns:\n\n “After the recent spike in CLOV, we are downgrading [because] the company is now trading at a 70% premium to ALHC [its closest comparable stock] despite a similar growth profile and lower near term margin trajectory.”\n\nThe Bottom Line\nFischbeck’s point is well taken. The current price of Clover Health shares isn’t necessarily justified by the company’s fiscal standing.\nAnd beyond that, there’s nothing wrong with sitting on the sidelines and enjoying the fireworks from afar – which also means avoiding any potential injuries.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":197,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":161964389,"gmtCreate":1623901357441,"gmtModify":1634026112621,"author":{"id":"3574812182510750","authorId":"3574812182510750","name":"daberukk","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/125530ebf668f660df11ec2044b52a98","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574812182510750","authorIdStr":"3574812182510750"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"HODL!","listText":"HODL!","text":"HODL!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/161964389","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":221,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":160155123,"gmtCreate":1623776008662,"gmtModify":1634028371610,"author":{"id":"3574812182510750","authorId":"3574812182510750","name":"daberukk","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/125530ebf668f660df11ec2044b52a98","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574812182510750","authorIdStr":"3574812182510750"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"good Priced at $149,990, it was to feature a range of 520 miles, thanks to its innovative 4680 battery cells, 1,100 horsepower and the ability to speed from 0 to 60 mph in less than two seconds.
Priced at $149,990, it was to feature a range of 520 miles, thanks to its innovative 4680 battery cells, 1,100 horsepower and the ability to speed from 0 to 60 mph in less than two seconds.\nInstead, the company has begun delivering a new Model S Plaid that has only a 390-mile range and 1,020 horsepower, though it still sprints to from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just two seconds.\nAs a way to “sugar coat” its flip flop, Tesla said the Model S Plaid is just as fast as the Model S Plaid Plus and $20,000 cheaper. Humm.\nThis “bait and switch” has some Tesla fans worried, since they had deposits on the Model S Plaid Plus and wanted the innovative 4680 battery cells that Tesla had been touting as the key to longer range and more power. Essentially, the 4680 battery cells were the latest great Tesla development, since they were the first batteries to also be a structural component that supposedly allowed Tesla to lower the weight of its vehicles.\nBoth the company’s Austin and Berlin manufacturing plants now under construction are supposed to also be making the 4680 batteries for new Tesla vehicles. If there is a problem with the engineering associated with utilizing the 4680 batteries or making them a structural component, then Tesla has grossly miscalculated, which is now worrying investors.\nClearly something happened to delay the 4680 batteries that were supposed to provide Tesla with a competitive and engineering edge. For Tesla’s sake, I hope they figure out the problems associated with their much hyped 4680 battery cells, otherwise concerns about its two new manufacturing plants will emerge, as well as the stock losing more of its “mojo.”\nAs someone who owns more than a few high-performance vehicles, I can tell you that the engineering geeks I know donotwant to get a new Model S Plaid instead of a Model S Plaid Plus and will likely ask for their deposits back.\nWhat Tesla did is like Ferrari or Porsche telling its customers that one of their much-hyped new performance models is now not being sold because the base model was just as good! Car fanatics, like myself, like the latest and greatest engineering tidbits, so we would rather cancel our orders versus settle for a base model.\nThe good news for Tesla is that its China sales in May resurged to 21,936, up sharply from 11,671 in April. The company’s sales tend to spike at the end of each quarter. For example, Tesla sold 35,478 vehicles in China in March, which was the strongest month ever in China.\nThis is raising expectations for very strong China sales in June, especially now that the Model Y is being manufactured in Shanghai. Interestingly, since most Chinese Teslas are now made with iron phosphate batteries, these vehicles have lower range than its lithium cobalt vehicles, but its iron phosphate vehicles are cheaper and now increasingly being exported to Europe.\nHowever, I’m convinced another electric vehicle (EV) company will eventually displace Tesla as the biggest manufacturer of EVs in China.\nTaking Advantage of the EV Revolution’s Profit Potential\nI’m talking about Nio, Inc.(NYSE:NIO). The reality is that this company is on the verge of dominating the EV market in China and Hong Kong. It’s why I put NIO on myPlatinum Growth ClubModel Portfolio back in February.\nThe company boasts that it is the “next-generation car company,” as it designs and manufactures electric vehicles that utilize the latest technologies in connectivity, autonomous driving and artificial intelligence (AI). NIO currently offers an electric seven-seater SUV (ES8) and a five-seater electric SUV (ES6) and recently introduced an attractive electric sedan (ET7). Its vehicles utilize NOMI, an in-vehicle artificial intelligence assistant.\nThe company is also partnering with cutting-edge chip companies likeNVIDIA Corporation(NASDAQ:NVDA), another one of myPlatinum Growth ClubModel Portfolio stocks. Announcements like this are very positive, so NIO has been stealing some of Tesla’s thunder lately.\nNow, it’s important to note that NIO was bailed out by the Chinese government. Last year, the Chinese government injected $1 billion and now has a 24% ownership in the company. The reality is that China wants to dominate at least five major industries by 2025, and NIO is now its ticket to dominate EV manufacturing.\nWith the backing of the Chinese government, some Wall Street firms are eager to help NIO by issuing new debt or equity. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if NIO surpasses Tesla, which is currently number-two in China, for market share in the upcoming years.\nThat means, if you missed Tesla’s parabolic run like I did, NIO is essentially giving us a “second chance” to make money in a potentially explosive electric vehicle company.\nShares of NIO climbed nearly 13% since the company’s June 4 announcement of its May delivery report and positive analyst comments, while Tesla shares rose almost 3%. First, NIO revealed that the global chip shortage is starting to take a toll on its business. NIO only delivered 6,711 vehicles in May, or a 5.5% decline from April’s deliveries. Company management noted that deliveries were “adversely impacted for several days due to the volatility of semiconductor supply and certain logistical adjustments.”\nInterestingly, despite the month-to-month dip, NIO’s deliveries were still up 95.3% year-over-year. Strong demand in China even inspired a Citigroup analyst to upgrade NIO to a buy rating, as he expects demand to accelerate in the coming months.\nIn other words, NIO represents thecrème de la crèmeof EV stocks right now.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":414,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":161923806,"gmtCreate":1623901554405,"gmtModify":1634026109197,"author":{"id":"3574812182510750","authorId":"3574812182510750","name":"daberukk","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/125530ebf668f660df11ec2044b52a98","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3574812182510750","idStr":"3574812182510750"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"good read!","listText":"good read!","text":"good read!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/161923806","repostId":"1166743946","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":197,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":160155123,"gmtCreate":1623776008662,"gmtModify":1634028371610,"author":{"id":"3574812182510750","authorId":"3574812182510750","name":"daberukk","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/125530ebf668f660df11ec2044b52a98","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3574812182510750","idStr":"3574812182510750"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"good news!","listText":"good news!","text":"good news!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/160155123","repostId":"1155798913","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":194,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":121113942,"gmtCreate":1624456427886,"gmtModify":1634005892759,"author":{"id":"3574812182510750","authorId":"3574812182510750","name":"daberukk","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/125530ebf668f660df11ec2044b52a98","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3574812182510750","idStr":"3574812182510750"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"...... Just how long can the rally go on?\nIn January, it was GameStop(NY","content":"
AMC stock has been surging lately. Just how long can the rally go on?
\n
In January, it was GameStop(NYSE:GME) leading the charge at the center of the Reddit rally. Now,AMC Entertainment(NYSE:AMC) is the front man, this time leading the so-called meme stock rally.
\n
Investors are wondering how long this rally can last and whether it’s actually sustainable.
\n
I hate to stick my neck out in these types of scenarios.
If you are going to get involved, just keep your risk in focus, as the trading ranges are incredibly wide.
\n
For now, AMC remains the alpha dog in this current rally.
\n
Reddit Saves AMC
\n
2021 feels like a better year than 2020.
Just how long can the rally go on?\nIn January, it was GameStop(NYSE:GME) leading the charge at the center of the Reddit rally. Now,AMC Entertainment(NYSE:AMC) is the front man, this time leading the so-called meme stock rally.\nInvestors are wondering how long this rally can last and whether it’s actually sustainable.\nI hate to stick my neck out in these types of scenarios. But generally the answer is no, these types of rallies do not tend to hold up over time. That said, there is nothing general about this situation, and we’re seeing an orchestrated effort to squeeze a handful of stocks higher. After all, GameStop has held up pretty well from its initial squeeze.\nSome find this price action entertaining. Others find it insulting. I just say, it is what it is. If you don’t want to participate in it, don’t. There are thousands of securities to trade on a daily basis and this affects about two dozen of them. If you are going to get involved, just keep your risk in focus, as the trading ranges are incredibly wide.\nFor now, AMC remains the alpha dog in this current rally.\nReddit Saves AMC\n2021 feels like a better year than 2020. There’s light at the end of the tunnel and we’re emerging from the novel coronavirus pandemic. Airport traffic is hitting new heights since the pandemic, while the U.S. has seen new cases plunge amid a strong vaccination push.\nBut let’s not forget, we alsostillhave hundreds of deaths a day occurring the U.S. due to Covid-19. Globally, we’ve now had more coronavirus deaths in 2021 vs. 2020.\nWhile things are clearly improving, particularly in the U.S., we haven’t gotten the full all-clear. Further, Q1 and the beginning of Q2 were a painful reality for businesses like AMC.\nBut thanks to the Reddit short squeeze we saw earlier in the year, the company was able to raise a substantial amount of cash. In fact, it has now done so several times, allowing AMC to bolster its balance sheet.\nOn Jan. 25, the company announced it raised or had commitments for $917 million. More than half of this was via equity, with the rest in various forms of debt. This would help AMC “make it through this dark coronavirus-impacted winter.”\nThen in May, AMC brought in $428 million after selling 43 million shares at just below $10. A few weeks later in June, Mudrick Capital agreed to buy 8.5 million shares for roughly $27 apiece, raising over $230 million. That capital will be used for “acquisition opportunities and investments in existing AMC theatres.”\nIn all, the company raised about $1.2 billion this quarter. As President and CEO Adam Aron put it,“with our increased liquidity, an increasingly vaccinated population and the imminent release of blockbuster new movie titles, it is time for AMC to go on the offense again.”\nCan the Rally in AMC Last?\nClearly AMC stock will survive. Or at least, itshouldsurvive. It’s got more than enough capital on hand to weather whatever remains of the Covid-19 storm and truthfully, management could decide to flood the market with even more supply of stock. A 10 million share secondary offering at $50 would raise half a billion dollars.\nWith all the raising it did in Q2 with no ill impact on the stock price, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Aron & Co. pull the trigger on another raise. In fact, I would applaud it after shares hit all-time highs at the beginning of the month.\nDoes the company go after something like Imax Corp(NYSE:IMAX), with a market capitalization below $1.5 billion? Is that what Aron means by going on the offense?\nWe’ll find out in the coming weeks and months, but I really think this company will be okay. That said, that doesn’t mean its stock is a good value. Trading in AMC stock is one thing. Investing in it is another.\nAnalysts expect AMC to remain unprofitable in 2022. Further, estimates call for “just” $2.5 billion in sales this year as it still feels the impact of Covid-19. In 2022, estimates call for $4.8 billion in sales. Round it up to $5 billion and we have a stock trading at six times 2022 revenue for a firm that never had sustained operating margins above 10%, a figure that was below 5% before Covid-19.\nBottom Line on AMC Stock\nI would really like to see the $35 level hold as support on a pullback. Below puts the 21-day moving average in play, then ~$20 — the prior 2021 high.\nAbove $50 and $60 is in play, followed by the 52-week high at $72.62.
