A strong forecast may imply that the company intends to make its new lineup available during the waning days of its fiscal year, while weaker guidance could suggest the launch will be pushed in to the calendar fourth quarter.</p>\n<p>The problem this time around is that Apple has held off on issuing a formal outlook for more than a year amid the pandemic, and it remains unclear when or if the company will resume the practice. Apple has instead been offering \"directional insights\" to offer some indication of how its results could stack up to those of prior quarters, but it has been notoriously tight-lipped about plans for iPhone launches.</p>\n<p>\"We expect the timing of iPhone 13 availability will ultimately prove to be the swing factor in [the fiscal fourth quarter], thus we anticipate the company will provide more granular directional commentary,\" wrote Monness, Crespi, Hardt & Co. analyst Brian White.</p>\n<p>The coming launch is of keen interest given that the current lineup has performed well. \"The iPhone 12 cycle has been strong but we believe the next two cycles may prove challenging with units potentially down [year over year] in FY22 and FY23,\" wrote Barclays analyst Tim Long.</p>\n<p>The June quarter that Apple will report Tuesday is traditionally a slower <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a>, as consumers wait for the next iPhone launch, but the company is still expected to deliver big growth in its smartphone business. Not only does the company have the benefit of easy comparisons to the early days of the pandemic, but it should also be reaping the rewards of an unusually promotional wireless industry.</p>\n<p><b>What to watch for</b></p>\n<p><b>Earnings:</b> Analysts tracked by FactSet expect Apple to post $1.01 in earnings per share, up from 65 cents a year earlier. According to Estimize, which crowdsources projections from hedge funds, academics, and others, the average expectation is for $1.16 a share in EPS.</p>\n<p><b>Revenue: </b>The FactSet consensus calls for $73.26 billion in overall revenue, up from $59.69 billion a year prior. On Estimize, the average estimate is for $77.38 billion.</p>\n<p>On a segment level, analysts surveyed by FactSet project $34.19 billion in iPhone revenue, $7.17 billion in iPad revenue, $7.86 billion in Mac revenue, $16.26 billion in services revenue, and $7.83 billion in revenue for the wearables, home, and accessories category.</p>\n<p><b>Stock movement: </b>Apple shares have fallen after four of the past five earnings reports, though the stock is up 60% over the past 12 months as the Dow Jones Industrial Average has increased 32%.</p>\n<p>Of the 44 analysts tracked by FactSet who cover Apple's stock, 33 have buy ratings, nine have hold ratings and two have sell ratings, with an average price target of $157.88.</p>\n<p><b>What else to watch for</b></p>\n<p>Apple's iPhone business is set up for its second-largest rate of growth in at least three years, behind only what was seen in the previous quarter. Despite putting their money to work in equities for more than a century, retail investors moved stock prices like never before.</p>\n<p>The handful of companies these retail folks have piled into have come to be known as the \"meme stocks\" -- essentially, companies valued more for the hype they create on social media than their operating performance. At the top of the list for most meme investors is movie theater chain <b>AMC Entertainment</b> (NYSE:AMC), which until this past week was the top-performing stock on a year-to-date basis.</p>\n<h2>Wall Street and investors are wising up to the AMC pump-and-dump scheme</h2>\n<p>Unfortunately, AMC doesn't look as if it'll ever be \"going to the moon.\"</p>\n<p>The bull thesis for AMC, which disregards virtually all concrete fundamental data, relies on social media hype, constant misinformation, and outright lies to fuel an artificially higher share price. The problem is that Wall Street and investors are wising up to the misinformation and deceptive tactics being employed by AMC's emotionally driven retail investors, known as apes, which has resulted in AMC's shares losing 42% since June 28, with a lot more downside to go.</p>\n<p>Prior to the pandemic, AMC was never worth more than $3.8 billion. Today, with vaccination rates on the rise, AMC is worth $17 billion and it's:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Nowhere near the peak sales produced before the pandemic.</li>\n <li>Losing money hand over fist, compared to being profitable prior to the pandemic.</li>\n <li>Contending with billions of dollars in additional debt.</li>\n <li>Carrying around $473 million in deferred rental obligations, as of the end of March.</li>\n <li>Clearly losing revenue to streaming competitors (e.g., <b>Walt Disney</b>'s Disney+ garnering $60 million in debut weekend revenue for <i>Black Widow</i>).</li>\n</ul>\n<p>To boot, virtually all claims made by apes to ignite a rally in AMC's share price can be easily proved as false or misleading. Consider the following as two good examples of ongoing mistruths designed to artificially inflate AMC's share price:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Shares sold short have declined from around 102 million at the end of May to about 75.5 million as of the end of June, according to official (not estimated) data. Apes claiming short interest is climbing or \"shorts haven't covered\" are flat out wrong. This also severely dents the idea that \"a short squeeze is coming,\" which you'll hear echoed daily on social media without any proof or basis.</li>\n <li>Buying and short-selling stock has no impact whatsoever on the performance of an underlying business. This disproves the idea that short-selling bankrupts companies (a core and blatantly incorrect thesis of apes), and it also demonstrates that apes didn't save AMC. The capital that saved AMC from immediate bankruptcy came from share sales and debt issuances in 2020 and early January. Operating performance, not buying and selling activity from investors, determines if a company is successful or fails.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>It may be a choppy road lower, but make no mistake about it, the jig is up and we've entered the dump phase of the cycle.</p>\n<h2>This trio of stocks can go to the moon</h2>\n<p>The good news is that there <i>are</i> companies out there with tangible growth potential that really could go to the moon. If you allow your investment thesis to play out, all three of the following stocks can blast off.</p>\n<h2>Sea Limited</h2>\n<p>Don't let anyone tell you large-cap stocks can't go to the moon. Despite its seemingly lofty $144 billion market cap, Singapore-based <b>Sea Limited</b> (NYSE:SE) has three rapidly growing operating segments that could make investors rich.</p>\n<p>For the moment, Sea is generating all of its positive earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) from its gaming division. The popularity of Sea's mobile games, coupled with the pandemic keeping more people in their homes, pushed the company's quarterly active users higher by 61% in the first quarter to 649 million. More importantly, 12.3% of these users were paying to play, which is considerably higher than the industry average.</p>\n<p>Over the long run, e-commerce platform Shopee is what'll generate the most buzz. For example, the $12.6 billion in gross merchandise value (GMV) that was purchased on Shopee in Q1 2021 handily surpasses total GMV from all of 2018. Shopee is the most downloaded shopping app in Southeast Asia, and it's quickly gaining traction in Brazil.</p>\n<p>Thirdly, Sea has a relatively nascent but fast-growing digital financial services segment. When the first quarter came to a close, it had more than 26 million paying mobile wallet customers. Since many of the emerging markets Sea operates in are somewhat underbanked, this digital financial services division could be a sneaky long-term growth driver.</p>\n<h2>Skillz</h2>\n<p>Another high-growth stock that could eventually go to the moon is esports and gaming company <b>Skillz</b> (NYSE:SKLZ).</p>\n<p>Admittedly, gaming is a highly competitive industry. Developing new games is a time-consuming and costly process, and there's no guarantee that a new game will be well-received. It's for all of these reasons that Skillz didn't go the traditional development route. Rather, it operates a gaming platform that allows players to compete against each other for cash prizes. Maintaining this platform doesn't cost an arm and a leg (gross margin has consistently been 95%), and both Skillz and gaming developers get to keep a cut of the cash prizes.</p>\n<p>When the first quarter came to a close, Skillz had approximately 467,000 monthly active users (MAUs) that were paying to pay on its platform. That's 17% of its MAU base. According to Wappier Gaming Apps, the conversion rate for paying gamers ranged from 1.6% to 2% in 2020. In other words, Skillz is converting casual gamers to paying members at a considerably higher rate than other gaming companies.</p>\n<p>Skillz also has an incredibly lucrative partnership in its back pocket. In February, it signed a multiyear agreement with the National Football League (NFL). Football is the most popular sport by a long shot in the U.S. The expectation is that we'll see NFL-themed games and competitions hitting the platform by no later than 2022.</p>\n<p>Though Skillz is likely to lose money through 2022 as it beefs up marketing, its insane growth potential and potentially lucrative margins can't be overlooked.</p>\n<h2>Trulieve Cannabis</h2>\n<p>A final stock that can go to the moon is U.S. marijuana stock <b>Trulieve Cannabis</b> (OTC:TCNNF). According to <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/NFC.U\">New Frontier</a> Data, the U.S. pot industry could be generating north of $41 billion in annual sales by 2025.</p>\n<p>Whereas most U.S. multistate operators are angling to have a presence in as many legalized markets as possible, Trulieve has taken on a strategy that looked odd at first, but has paid off incredibly well. Of the 91 dispensaries it had open in early July, 85 of them were located in medical marijuana-legal Florida. By absolutely saturating the Sunshine State, Trulieve has effectively gobbled up around half of all dried cannabis flower and oils market share. At the same time, its marketing costs have been kept low, pushing the company to 13 consecutive quarters of profitability.</p>\n<p>But make no mistake about it, Trulieve does have aspirations of moving beyond Florida. For instance, it recently announced the largest U.S. cannabis acquisition in history -- a $2.1 billion all-stock deal to acquire multistate operator <b>Harvest Health & Recreation</b> (OTC:HRVSF). Harvest has a focus on five states, <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> of which is Florida. This means Trulieve's presence in the Sunshine State will soon get even bigger.</p>\n<p>However, the real lure of this deal is the 15 dispensaries Harvest Health operates in its home market of Arizona, a state that legalized recreational weed in November. Trulieve shouldn't have any problem taking its Florida blueprint and applying it in other key markets. Despite putting their money to work in equities for more than a century, retail investors moved stock prices like never before.\nThe handful of companies these retail folks have piled into have come to be known as the \"meme stocks\" -- essentially, companies valued more for the hype they create on social media than their operating performance. At the top of the list for most meme investors is movie theater chain AMC Entertainment (NYSE:AMC), which until this past week was the top-performing stock on a year-to-date basis.\nWall Street and investors are wising up to the AMC pump-and-dump scheme\nUnfortunately, AMC doesn't look as if it'll ever be \"going to the moon.\"\nThe bull thesis for AMC, which disregards virtually all concrete fundamental data, relies on social media hype, constant misinformation, and outright lies to fuel an artificially higher share price. The problem is that Wall Street and investors are wising up to the misinformation and deceptive tactics being employed by AMC's emotionally driven retail investors, known as apes, which has resulted in AMC's shares losing 42% since June 28, with a lot more downside to go.\nPrior to the pandemic, AMC was never worth more than $3.8 billion. Today, with vaccination rates on the rise, AMC is worth $17 billion and it's:\n\nNowhere near the peak sales produced before the pandemic.\nLosing money hand over fist, compared to being profitable prior to the pandemic.\nContending with billions of dollars in additional debt.\nCarrying around $473 million in deferred rental obligations, as of the end of March.\nClearly losing revenue to streaming competitors (e.g., Walt Disney's Disney+ garnering $60 million in debut weekend revenue for Black Widow).\n\nTo boot, virtually all claims made by apes to ignite a rally in AMC's share price can be easily proved as false or misleading. Consider the following as two good examples of ongoing mistruths designed to artificially inflate AMC's share price:\n\nShares sold short have declined from around 102 million at the end of May to about 75.5 million as of the end of June, according to official (not estimated) data. Apes claiming short interest is climbing or \"shorts haven't covered\" are flat out wrong. This also severely dents the idea that \"a short squeeze is coming,\" which you'll hear echoed daily on social media without any proof or basis.\nBuying and short-selling stock has no impact whatsoever on the performance of an underlying business. This disproves the idea that short-selling bankrupts companies (a core and blatantly incorrect thesis of apes), and it also demonstrates that apes didn't save AMC. The capital that saved AMC from immediate bankruptcy came from share sales and debt issuances in 2020 and early January. Operating performance, not buying and selling activity from investors, determines if a company is successful or fails.\n\nIt may be a choppy road lower, but make no mistake about it, the jig is up and we've entered the dump phase of the cycle.\nThis trio of stocks can go to the moon\nThe good news is that there are companies out there with tangible growth potential that really could go to the moon. If you allow your investment thesis to play out, all three of the following stocks can blast off.\nSea Limited\nDon't let anyone tell you large-cap stocks can't go to the moon. Despite its seemingly lofty $144 billion market cap, Singapore-based Sea Limited (NYSE:SE) has three rapidly growing operating segments that could make investors rich.\nFor the moment, Sea is generating all of its positive earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) from its gaming division. The popularity of Sea's mobile games, coupled with the pandemic keeping more people in their homes, pushed the company's quarterly active users higher by 61% in the first quarter to 649 million. More importantly, 12.3% of these users were paying to play, which is considerably higher than the industry average.\nOver the long run, e-commerce platform Shopee is what'll generate the most buzz. For example, the $12.6 billion in gross merchandise value (GMV) that was purchased on Shopee in Q1 2021 handily surpasses total GMV from all of 2018. Shopee is the most downloaded shopping app in Southeast Asia, and it's quickly gaining traction in Brazil.\nThirdly, Sea has a relatively nascent but fast-growing digital financial services segment. When the first quarter came to a close, it had more than 26 million paying mobile wallet customers. Since many of the emerging markets Sea operates in are somewhat underbanked, this digital financial services division could be a sneaky long-term growth driver.\nSkillz\nAnother high-growth stock that could eventually go to the moon is esports and gaming company Skillz (NYSE:SKLZ).\nAdmittedly, gaming is a highly competitive industry. Developing new games is a time-consuming and costly process, and there's no guarantee that a new game will be well-received. It's for all of these reasons that Skillz didn't go the traditional development route. Rather, it operates a gaming platform that allows players to compete against each other for cash prizes. Maintaining this platform doesn't cost an arm and a leg (gross margin has consistently been 95%), and both Skillz and gaming developers get to keep a cut of the cash prizes.\nWhen the first quarter came to a close, Skillz had approximately 467,000 monthly active users (MAUs) that were paying to pay on its platform. That's 17% of its MAU base. According to Wappier Gaming Apps, the conversion rate for paying gamers ranged from 1.6% to 2% in 2020. In other words, Skillz is converting casual gamers to paying members at a considerably higher rate than other gaming companies.\nSkillz also has an incredibly lucrative partnership in its back pocket. In February, it signed a multiyear agreement with the National Football League (NFL). Football is the most popular sport by a long shot in the U.S. The expectation is that we'll see NFL-themed games and competitions hitting the platform by no later than 2022.\nThough Skillz is likely to lose money through 2022 as it beefs up marketing, its insane growth potential and potentially lucrative margins can't be overlooked.\nTrulieve Cannabis\nA final stock that can go to the moon is U.S. marijuana stock Trulieve Cannabis (OTC:TCNNF). According to New Frontier Data, the U.S. pot industry could be generating north of $41 billion in annual sales by 2025.\nWhereas most U.S. multistate operators are angling to have a presence in as many legalized markets as possible, Trulieve has taken on a strategy that looked odd at first, but has paid off incredibly well. Of the 91 dispensaries it had open in early July, 85 of them were located in medical marijuana-legal Florida. By absolutely saturating the Sunshine State, Trulieve has effectively gobbled up around half of all dried cannabis flower and oils market share. At the same time, its marketing costs have been kept low, pushing the company to 13 consecutive quarters of profitability.\nBut make no mistake about it, Trulieve does have aspirations of moving beyond Florida. For instance, it recently announced the largest U.S. cannabis acquisition in history -- a $2.1 billion all-stock deal to acquire multistate operator Harvest Health & Recreation (OTC:HRVSF). Harvest has a focus on five states, one of which is Florida. This means Trulieve's presence in the Sunshine State will soon get even bigger.\nHowever, the real lure of this deal is the 15 dispensaries Harvest Health operates in its home market of Arizona, a state that legalized recreational weed in November. Trulieve shouldn't have any problem taking its Florida blueprint and applying it in other key markets. Alibaba might weather all these headwinds and recover over the long term, but its stock could remain dead money for the foreseeable future.</p>\n<p>Instead of betting on Alibaba's potential comeback, investors should consider buying shares of Chinese tech stocks that aren't in regulatory crosshairs. However, it's actually the country's largest direct retailer, since it generates most of its revenue from its first-party marketplace.</p>\n<p>Unlike Alibaba, which generates most of its e-commerce revenue from third-party sellers on Taobao and Tmall, JD takes on its own inventories and fulfills orders with its logistics network. This business model is more capital-intensive, but it shields its buyers from fake products.</p>\n<p>Alibaba's co-founder, Jack Ma, once said JD's lower-margin business model would end in a \"tragedy,\" but economies of scale gradually kicked in and enabled it to generate consistent profits. JD's logistics arm also balanced out its costs by offering its services to third-party customers.</p>\n<p>JD's revenue and adjusted earnings rose 29% and 57%, respectively, in 2020. It ended the first quarter with nearly 500 million annual active consumers, and analysts expect its revenue and earnings to grow another 26% and 13%, respectively, this year.</p>\n<p>JD doesn't face as much regulatory heat as Alibaba, it margins are expanding, and the stock trades at just 28 times forward earnings estimates and less than 1 times estimated sales.</p>\n<h2>2. Pinduoduo</h2>\n<p>Pinduoduo is the third-largest e-commerce player in China in terms of annual revenue, but in terms of total shoppers, it's actually bigger than JD, with 628 million annual active buyers. It also gained an early mover's advantage in online agriculture by enabling over 12 million farmers to directly ship their produce to customers.</p>\n<p>Pinduoduo's revenue surged 97% in 2020, then soared another 239% year-over-year in the first quarter of 2021. Analysts expect its revenue to grow 92% for the full year. Those estimates are impressive for a stock that trades at about eight times this year's sales.</p>\n<p>Pinduoduo is still unprofitable due to its aggressive discounts, subsidies for sellers, and the expansion of its logistics network. However, its adjusted operating and net losses still narrowed year-over-year last quarter, and it could gradually inch toward profitability as it increases its scale.</p>\n<h2>3. Baozun</h2>\n<p>Baozun is sometimes called the \"<b>Shopify</b> of China\", but that comparison is misleading. Unlike Shopify, which provides self-serve e-commerce services to smaller businesses, Baozun mainly provides end-to-end e-commerce solutions to large international companies.</p>\n<p>It can be difficult for large U.S. companies to build Chinese websites, launch marketing campaigns, and set up e-commerce marketplaces, so Baozun is a \"<a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE\">one</a>-stop shop\" that handles all those needs. Ninety-two percent of its GMV (gross merchandise volume) came from its non-distribution-based business. As the largest company in the space,<b>Canopy Growth</b> (NASDAQ:<b><u>CGC</u></b>) is participating in the rally. Shares of CGC stock surged as high as 8% from the prior day’s close.</p>\n<p>One of the difficulties in investing in any cannabis stock right now is the status of legalization in the U.S. Many investors and analysts jumped the gun when the Democratic party wrested control of both the executive and legislative branches of government. The thinking was, understandably, that legalization of recreational marijuana was as close as the stroke of a pen.</p>\n<p>As this news shows it still may be. Cannabis legalization is garnering support on both sides of the aisle. However, while the news is encouraging, I will continue to express caution. Cannabis investors have been here before. Maybe not with something so tangible as legislation on the floor of the House of Representatives, but they have had their hopes dashed in the past.</p>\n<p>Maybe that’s why for as high as CGC stock climbed, its gains are marginal for the year. Let’s take a closer look at the issues surrounding Canopy Growth stock.</p>\n<p><b>Earnings Will Provide More Data</b></p>\n<p>The legislative news is not the only thing propping up CGC stock. The company will report earnings on June 1. Such events are usually positive for stocks. And if Canopy delivers on analysts’ expectations, they will post a 40% improvement in earnings per share.</p>\n<p>While the company will not yet be profitable, it would be further evidence that it is moving in the right direction. This will be particularly true if Canopy continues to show revenue growth.</p>\n<p>At least one analyst, may think this is the case. Bill Kirk of MKM Partners upgraded CGC stock from neutral to buy with a price target of $55. That’s 53% higher than the consensus price target of $35.91. As part of his bullish call, Kirk noted the strength of the company’s CBD business in the United States.</p>\n<p><b>Control the Controllables</b></p>\n<p>Canopy Growth is the largest of the publicly traded cannabis companies. In and of itself, that should giveinvestors confidence that Canopy will be around when the United States market is fully open. But the legislation that may be presented to Congress is out of Canopy’s control.</p>\n<p>The wheels of government generally move slowly. And that means that investors who are looking at CGC stockhave to consider that there is no guarantee when or if this legislation will pass – or even be brought up for a vote.</p>\n<p>Also impacting Canopy Growth is a spike in Covid-19 cases in its home country of Canada. As Chris Tyler points out, this hurts the company’s retail business, which makes competing (and lower cost) products more appealing.</p>\n<p> That doesn’t mean you have to avoid the stock entirely, but it does mean you shouldn’t lose your head over it. The cannabis opportunity is similar to the electric vehicle business. The growth is tantalizing close, but it’s not here yet. And the reasons for that are largely out of Canopy’s control.</p>\n<p><b>Be Cautiously Optimistic About CGC Stock</b></p>\n<p>When I look at the CGC stock chart, one thing seems clear. If you bought on the dips any time in the last three years you have been rewarded handsomely. And if you bought at one of the tops, you’re likely cursing your fate. This has not been a stock to chase on the way up.</p>\n<p>The question of course is, is this time different? Just three years ago, cannabis was a controversial industry with a long path to legalization. Today, it’s an industry that is still controversial (but receiving increasing acceptance). And is has what appears to be a shorter path to legalization.</p>\n<p>In other words, things are changing, but not as fast as investors would like. Shares of CGC stock surged as high as 8% from the prior day’s close.\nOne of the difficulties in investing in any cannabis stock right now is the status of legalization in the U.S. Many investors and analysts jumped the gun when the Democratic party wrested control of both the executive and legislative branches of government. The thinking was, understandably, that legalization of recreational marijuana was as close as the stroke of a pen.\nAs this news shows it still may be. Cannabis legalization is garnering support on both sides of the aisle. However, while the news is encouraging, I will continue to express caution. Cannabis investors have been here before. Maybe not with something so tangible as legislation on the floor of the House of Representatives, but they have had their hopes dashed in the past.\nMaybe that’s why for as high as CGC stock climbed, its gains are marginal for the year. Let’s take a closer look at the issues surrounding Canopy Growth stock.\nEarnings Will Provide More Data\nThe legislative news is not the only thing propping up CGC stock. The company will report earnings on June 1. Such events are usually positive for stocks. And if Canopy delivers on analysts’ expectations, they will post a 40% improvement in earnings per share.\nWhile the company will not yet be profitable, it would be further evidence that it is moving in the right direction. This will be particularly true if Canopy continues to show revenue growth.\nAt least one analyst, may think this is the case. Bill Kirk of MKM Partners upgraded CGC stock from neutral to buy with a price target of $55. That’s 53% higher than the consensus price target of $35.91. As part of his bullish call, Kirk noted the strength of the company’s CBD business in the United States.\nControl the Controllables\nCanopy Growth is the largest of the publicly traded cannabis companies. In and of itself, that should giveinvestors confidence that Canopy will be around when the United States market is fully open. But the legislation that may be presented to Congress is out of Canopy’s control.\nThe wheels of government generally move slowly. And that means that investors who are looking at CGC stockhave to consider that there is no guarantee when or if this legislation will pass – or even be brought up for a vote.\nAlso impacting Canopy Growth is a spike in Covid-19 cases in its home country of Canada. As Chris Tyler points out, this hurts the company’s retail business, which makes competing (and lower cost) products more appealing.\n That doesn’t mean you have to avoid the stock entirely, but it does mean you shouldn’t lose your head over it. The cannabis opportunity is similar to the electric vehicle business. The growth is tantalizing close, but it’s not here yet. remembered for the way retail investors made their presence known on Wall Street. Despite putting their money to work in equities for more than a century, retail investors moved stock prices like never before.</p>\n<p>The handful of companies these retail folks have piled into have come to be known as the \"meme stocks\" -- essentially, companies valued more for the hype they create on social media than their operating performance. At the top of the list for most meme investors is movie theater chain <b>AMC Entertainment</b> (NYSE:AMC), which until this past week was the top-performing stock on a year-to-date basis.</p>\n<h2>Wall Street and investors are wising up to the AMC pump-and-dump scheme</h2>\n<p>Unfortunately, AMC doesn't look as if it'll ever be \"going to the moon.\"</p>\n<p>The bull thesis for AMC, which disregards virtually all concrete fundamental data, relies on social media hype, constant misinformation, and outright lies to fuel an artificially higher share price. The problem is that Wall Street and investors are wising up to the misinformation and deceptive tactics being employed by AMC's emotionally driven retail investors, known as apes, which has resulted in AMC's shares losing 42% since June 28, with a lot more downside to go.</p>\n<p>Prior to the pandemic, AMC was never worth more than $3.8 billion. Today, with vaccination rates on the rise, AMC is worth $17 billion and it's:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Nowhere near the peak sales produced before the pandemic.</li>\n <li>Losing money hand over fist, compared to being profitable prior to the pandemic.</li>\n <li>Contending with billions of dollars in additional debt.</li>\n <li>Carrying around $473 million in deferred rental obligations, as of the end of March.</li>\n <li>Clearly losing revenue to streaming competitors (e.g., <b>Walt Disney</b>'s Disney+ garnering $60 million in debut weekend revenue for <i>Black Widow</i>).</li>\n</ul>\n<p>To boot, virtually all claims made by apes to ignite a rally in AMC's share price can be easily proved as false or misleading. Consider the following as two good examples of ongoing mistruths designed to artificially inflate AMC's share price:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Shares sold short have declined from around 102 million at the end of May to about 75.5 million as of the end of June, according to official (not estimated) data. Apes claiming short interest is climbing or \"shorts haven't covered\" are flat out wrong. This also severely dents the idea that \"a short squeeze is coming,\" which you'll hear echoed daily on social media without any proof or basis.</li>\n <li>Buying and short-selling stock has no impact whatsoever on the performance of an underlying business. This disproves the idea that short-selling bankrupts companies (a core and blatantly incorrect thesis of apes), and it also demonstrates that apes didn't save AMC. The capital that saved AMC from immediate bankruptcy came from share sales and debt issuances in 2020 and early January. Operating performance, not buying and selling activity from investors, determines if a company is successful or fails.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>It may be a choppy road lower, but make no mistake about it, the jig is up and we've entered the dump phase of the cycle.</p>\n<h2>This trio of stocks can go to the moon</h2>\n<p>The good news is that there <i>are</i> companies out there with tangible growth potential that really could go to the moon. If you allow your investment thesis to play out, all three of the following stocks can blast off.</p>\n<h2>Sea Limited</h2>\n<p>Don't let anyone tell you large-cap stocks can't go to the moon. Despite its seemingly lofty $144 billion market cap, Singapore-based <b>Sea Limited</b> (NYSE:SE) has three rapidly growing operating segments that could make investors rich.</p>\n<p>For the moment, Sea is generating all of its positive earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) from its gaming division. The popularity of Sea's mobile games, coupled with the pandemic keeping more people in their homes, pushed the company's quarterly active users higher by 61% in the first quarter to 649 million. More importantly, 12.3% of these users were paying to play, which is considerably higher than the industry average.</p>\n<p>Over the long run, e-commerce platform Shopee is what'll generate the most buzz. For example, the $12.6 billion in gross merchandise value (GMV) that was purchased on Shopee in Q1 2021 handily surpasses total GMV from all of 2018. Shopee is the most downloaded shopping app in Southeast Asia, and it's quickly gaining traction in Brazil.</p>\n<p>Thirdly, Sea has a relatively nascent but fast-growing digital financial services segment. When the first quarter came to a close, it had more than 26 million paying mobile wallet customers. Since many of the emerging markets Sea operates in are somewhat underbanked, this digital financial services division could be a sneaky long-term growth driver.</p>\n<h2>Skillz</h2>\n<p>Another high-growth stock that could eventually go to the moon is esports and gaming company <b>Skillz</b> (NYSE:SKLZ).</p>\n<p>Admittedly, gaming is a highly competitive industry. Developing new games is a time-consuming and costly process, and there's no guarantee that a new game will be well-received. It's for all of these reasons that Skillz didn't go the traditional development route. Rather, it operates a gaming platform that allows players to compete against each other for cash prizes. Maintaining this platform doesn't cost an arm and a leg (gross margin has consistently been 95%), and both Skillz and gaming developers get to keep a cut of the cash prizes.</p>\n<p>When the first quarter came to a close, Skillz had approximately 467,000 monthly active users (MAUs) that were paying to pay on its platform. That's 17% of its MAU base. According to Wappier Gaming Apps, the conversion rate for paying gamers ranged from 1.6% to 2% in 2020. In other words, Skillz is converting casual gamers to paying members at a considerably higher rate than other gaming companies.</p>\n<p>Skillz also has an incredibly lucrative partnership in its back pocket. In February, it signed a multiyear agreement with the National Football League (NFL). Football is the most popular sport by a long shot in the U.S. The expectation is that we'll see NFL-themed games and competitions hitting the platform by no later than 2022.</p>\n<p>Though Skillz is likely to lose money through 2022 as it beefs up marketing, its insane growth potential and potentially lucrative margins can't be overlooked.</p>\n<h2>Trulieve Cannabis</h2>\n<p>A final stock that can go to the moon is U.S. marijuana stock <b>Trulieve Cannabis</b> (OTC:TCNNF). According to <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/NFC.U\">New Frontier</a> Data, the U.S. pot industry could be generating north of $41 billion in annual sales by 2025.</p>\n<p>Whereas most U.S. multistate operators are angling to have a presence in as many legalized markets as possible, Trulieve has taken on a strategy that looked odd at first, but has paid off incredibly well. Of the 91 dispensaries it had open in early July, 85 of them were located in medical marijuana-legal Florida. By absolutely saturating the Sunshine State, Trulieve has effectively gobbled up around half of all dried cannabis flower and oils market share. At the same time, its marketing costs have been kept low, pushing the company to 13 consecutive quarters of profitability.</p>\n<p>But make no mistake about it, Trulieve does have aspirations of moving beyond Florida. For instance, it recently announced the largest U.S. cannabis acquisition in history -- a $2.1 billion all-stock deal to acquire multistate operator <b>Harvest Health & Recreation</b> (OTC:HRVSF). Harvest has a focus on five states, <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> of which is Florida. This means Trulieve's presence in the Sunshine State will soon get even bigger.</p>\n<p>However, the real lure of this deal is the 15 dispensaries Harvest Health operates in its home market of Arizona, a state that legalized recreational weed in November. Trulieve shouldn't have any problem taking its Florida blueprint and applying it in other key markets. Despite putting their money to work in equities for more than a century, retail investors moved stock prices like never before.\nThe handful of companies these retail folks have piled into have come to be known as the \"meme stocks\" -- essentially, companies valued more for the hype they create on social media than their operating performance. At the top of the list for most meme investors is movie theater chain AMC Entertainment (NYSE:AMC), which until this past week was the top-performing stock on a year-to-date basis.\nWall Street and investors are wising up to the AMC pump-and-dump scheme\nUnfortunately, AMC doesn't look as if it'll ever be \"going to the moon.\"\nThe bull thesis for AMC, which disregards virtually all concrete fundamental data, relies on social media hype, constant misinformation, and outright lies to fuel an artificially higher share price. The problem is that Wall Street and investors are wising up to the misinformation and deceptive tactics being employed by AMC's emotionally driven retail investors, known as apes, which has resulted in AMC's shares losing 42% since June 28, with a lot more downside to go.\nPrior to the pandemic, AMC was never worth more than $3.8 billion. Today, with vaccination rates on the rise, AMC is worth $17 billion and it's:\n\nNowhere near the peak sales produced before the pandemic.\nLosing money hand over fist, compared to being profitable prior to the pandemic.\nContending with billions of dollars in additional debt.\nCarrying around $473 million in deferred rental obligations, as of the end of March.\nClearly losing revenue to streaming competitors (e.g., Walt Disney's Disney+ garnering $60 million in debut weekend revenue for Black Widow).\n\nTo boot, virtually all claims made by apes to ignite a rally in AMC's share price can be easily proved as false or misleading. Consider the following as two good examples of ongoing mistruths designed to artificially inflate AMC's share price:\n\nShares sold short have declined from around 102 million at the end of May to about 75.5 million as of the end of June, according to official (not estimated) data. Apes claiming short interest is climbing or \"shorts haven't covered\" are flat out wrong. This also severely dents the idea that \"a short squeeze is coming,\" which you'll hear echoed daily on social media without any proof or basis.\nBuying and short-selling stock has no impact whatsoever on the performance of an underlying business. This disproves the idea that short-selling bankrupts companies (a core and blatantly incorrect thesis of apes), and it also demonstrates that apes didn't save AMC. The capital that saved AMC from immediate bankruptcy came from share sales and debt issuances in 2020 and early January. Operating performance, not buying and selling activity from investors, determines if a company is successful or fails.\n\nIt may be a choppy road lower, but make no mistake about it, the jig is up and we've entered the dump phase of the cycle.\nThis trio of stocks can go to the moon\nThe good news is that there are companies out there with tangible growth potential that really could go to the moon. If you allow your investment thesis to play out, all three of the following stocks can blast off.\nSea Limited\nDon't let anyone tell you large-cap stocks can't go to the moon. Despite its seemingly lofty $144 billion market cap, Singapore-based Sea Limited (NYSE:SE) has three rapidly growing operating segments that could make investors rich.\nFor the moment, Sea is generating all of its positive earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) from its gaming division. The popularity of Sea's mobile games, coupled with the pandemic keeping more people in their homes, pushed the company's quarterly active users higher by 61% in the first quarter to 649 million. More importantly, 12.3% of these users were paying to play, which is considerably higher than the industry average.\nOver the long run, e-commerce platform Shopee is what'll generate the most buzz. For example, the $12.6 billion in gross merchandise value (GMV) that was purchased on Shopee in Q1 2021 handily surpasses total GMV from all of 2018. Shopee is the most downloaded shopping app in Southeast Asia, and it's quickly gaining traction in Brazil.\nThirdly, Sea has a relatively nascent but fast-growing digital financial services segment. When the first quarter came to a close, it had more than 26 million paying mobile wallet customers. Since many of the emerging markets Sea operates in are somewhat underbanked, this digital financial services division could be a sneaky long-term growth driver.\nSkillz\nAnother high-growth stock that could eventually go to the moon is esports and gaming company Skillz (NYSE:SKLZ).\nAdmittedly, gaming is a highly competitive industry. Developing new games is a time-consuming and costly process, and there's no guarantee that a new game will be well-received. It's for all of these reasons that Skillz didn't go the traditional development route. Rather, it operates a gaming platform that allows players to compete against each other for cash prizes. Maintaining this platform doesn't cost an arm and a leg (gross margin has consistently been 95%), and both Skillz and gaming developers get to keep a cut of the cash prizes.\nWhen the first quarter came to a close, Skillz had approximately 467,000 monthly active users (MAUs) that were paying to pay on its platform. That's 17% of its MAU base. According to Wappier Gaming Apps, the conversion rate for paying gamers ranged from 1.6% to 2% in 2020. In other words, Skillz is converting casual gamers to paying members at a considerably higher rate than other gaming companies.\nSkillz also has an incredibly lucrative partnership in its back pocket. In February, it signed a multiyear agreement with the National Football League (NFL). Football is the most popular sport by a long shot in the U.S. The expectation is that we'll see NFL-themed games and competitions hitting the platform by no later than 2022.\nThough Skillz is likely to lose money through 2022 as it beefs up marketing, its insane growth potential and potentially lucrative margins can't be overlooked.\nTrulieve Cannabis\nA final stock that can go to the moon is U.S. marijuana stock Trulieve Cannabis (OTC:TCNNF). According to New Frontier Data, the U.S. pot industry could be generating north of $41 billion in annual sales by 2025.\nWhereas most U.S. multistate operators are angling to have a presence in as many legalized markets as possible, Trulieve has taken on a strategy that looked odd at first, but has paid off incredibly well. Of the 91 dispensaries it had open in early July, 85 of them were located in medical marijuana-legal Florida. By absolutely saturating the Sunshine State, Trulieve has effectively gobbled up around half of all dried cannabis flower and oils market share. At the same time, its marketing costs have been kept low, pushing the company to 13 consecutive quarters of profitability.\nBut make no mistake about it, Trulieve does have aspirations of moving beyond Florida. For instance, it recently announced the largest U.S. cannabis acquisition in history -- a $2.1 billion all-stock deal to acquire multistate operator Harvest Health & Recreation (OTC:HRVSF). Harvest has a focus on five states, one of which is Florida. This means Trulieve's presence in the Sunshine State will soon get even bigger.\nHowever, the real lure of this deal is the 15 dispensaries Harvest Health operates in its home market of Arizona, a state that legalized recreational weed in November. Trulieve shouldn't have any problem taking its Florida blueprint and applying it in other key markets. This business model is more capital-intensive, but it shields its buyers from fake products.</p>\n<p>Alibaba's co-founder, Jack Ma, once said JD's lower-margin business model would end in a \"tragedy,\" but economies of scale gradually kicked in and enabled it to generate consistent profits. JD's logistics arm also balanced out its costs by offering its services to third-party customers.</p>\n<p>JD's revenue and adjusted earnings rose 29% and 57%, respectively, in 2020. It ended the first quarter with nearly 500 million annual active consumers, and analysts expect its revenue and earnings to grow another 26% and 13%, respectively, this year.</p>\n<p>JD doesn't face as much regulatory heat as Alibaba, it margins are expanding, and the stock trades at just 28 times forward earnings estimates and less than 1 times estimated sales.</p>\n<h2>2. Pinduoduo</h2>\n<p>Pinduoduo is the third-largest e-commerce player in China in terms of annual revenue, but in terms of total shoppers, it's actually bigger than JD, with 628 million annual active buyers. Those estimates are impressive for a stock that trades at about eight times this year's sales.</p>\n<p>Pinduoduo is still unprofitable due to its aggressive discounts, subsidies for sellers, and the expansion of its logistics network. However, its adjusted operating and net losses still narrowed year-over-year last quarter, and it could gradually inch toward profitability as it increases its scale.</p>\n<h2>3. Baozun</h2>\n<p>Baozun is sometimes called the \"<b>Shopify</b> of China\", but that comparison is misleading. J&J has successfully weathered quite a few storms along the way. It generated $82.5 billion in sales last year with profits totaling $14.7 billion. The company ranks as a Dividend King with 59 consecutive years of dividend increases.</p>\n<p><i>The Wall Street Journal</i> selected Johnson & Johnson as <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE\">one</a> of its top 10 best-managed companies of 2020. <i>Fortune</i> included J&J on its World's Most Admired Companies list, where it took the top spot in the pharmaceutical category.</p>\n<p>There aren't many areas of healthcare where J&J doesn't compete. It's a leading maker of consumer health products, with household brands such as Band-Aid, Listerine, and Tylenol. The company's medical devices are used by physicians and hospitals across the world. Johnson & Johnson's pharmaceuticals business markets multiple blockbusters.</p>\n<p>Roughly 70% of its total sales come from products for which the company holds either the No. 1 or No. 2 global market share position. Don't think, though, that J&J rests on its laurels. Around <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a>-fourth of its total sales are generated by products launched within the last five years. And it continues to invest heavily in research and development and strategic acquisitions to stay on top.</p>\n<h2>Microsoft</h2>\n<p>All of those characteristics of a safe stock mentioned for Johnson & Johnson also apply to <b>Microsoft</b> (NASDAQ:MSFT). Founded in 1975, Microsoft claims a longer track record of success than most of the biggest technology companies in the world.</p>\n<p>The company is on track to rake in more than $160 billion in sales this year with profits totaling close to one-third of that amount. Unlike most tech stocks, Microsoft even pays a dividend.</p>\n<p>Name a high-growth area of technology, and there's a good chance that Microsoft is a leader in it. Artificial intelligence, augmented reality, cloud hosting, gaming, internet security, and work-from-home collaboration are just a few of the markets in which it's a leader.</p>\n<p>Even with its impressive accomplishments so far, Microsoft isn't done growing yet. Its Azure platform continues to gain ground in the cloud hosting market. The Xbox enjoys increasing popularity with gamers. Microsoft recently introduced its Mesh mixed-reality platform that supports \"holoportation\" -- the ability to project a holograghic image anywhere.</p>\n<h2>Walmart</h2>\n<p><b>Walmart</b> (NYSE:WMT) is another popular Robinhood stock that should be safe to own for years to come. It's the biggest retailer in the world with around 10,500 stores in 24 countries after starting operations in Arkansas nearly 60 years ago.</p>\n<p>Last year, Walmart generated revenue of $559 billion. Although retail profit margins aren't nearly as high as in many other industries, the company still pulled in a profit of $13.5 billion.</p>\n<p>Sure, Walmart faces plenty of competition. But it has pivoted adroitly to establish a successful e-commerce platform and has held its own against even the most formidable rivals.</p>\n<p>Walmart's secret to success throughout its history has been to invest in technology to gain a competitive edge. The giant retailer continues to bet big on innovative technology. It generated $82.5 billion in sales last year with profits totaling $14.7 billion. The company ranks as a Dividend King with 59 consecutive years of dividend increases.\nThe Wall Street Journal selected Johnson & Johnson as one of its top 10 best-managed companies of 2020. Fortune included J&J on its World's Most Admired Companies list, where it took the top spot in the pharmaceutical category.\nThere aren't many areas of healthcare where J&J doesn't compete. It's a leading maker of consumer health products, with household brands such as Band-Aid, Listerine, and Tylenol. The company's medical devices are used by physicians and hospitals across the world.
