That's so January. The crowd has moved on to a new darling outside the S&P 500.","content":"
Still think GameStop is the moneymaking Meme-stock to own? That's so January; the crowd has moved on.
\n
Support.com erupted out of nowhere this month and is suddenly stealing the Reddit-crowd's affection. And for good reason: It's fast pushing GameStop aside. Shares of Support.com are up 1,583% just this year. That puts it ahead of the still-impressive 1,041% year-to-date rise of GameStop.
\n
Just Monday, SPRT stock is up 9.78, or nearly 40%, to 36.10. Shares are up more than 200%, just in the past month.
\n
And now, Support.com is the No. 2 top stock among all the stocks in S&P 1500 and S&P Completion indexes this year. And it's making a run at the No. 1 spot still hung onto by AMC Entertainment with its 2,017% gain this year.
\n
And that difference is adding up to real money. Had you plunked down $10,000 on Support.com in January, it would now be worth $168,319. That's already nearly 50% more than you would have made in that time on GameStop. And it's only 25% shy of the $211,698 you'd have if you owned AMC Entertainment.
\n
Support.com Comes Out Of Nowhere
\n
What is Support.com? It's a tiny $638 million in market value company that provides tech support for employees who work from home. Yes, they're the people who tell you to reboot your computer when your email isn't working.
\n
And this is certainly not a company on Wall Street's radar. There are no current analysts following the stock, says S&P Global Market Intelligence. That means there are no valid earnings or revenue estimates, much less a price target.
\n
The company reported having total assets of $46 million and liabilities of $5.7 million at the end of the last quarter in June. And during the period, it reported a net loss of $799,000 on revenue of nearly $8 million. Keep in mind, it made $617,000 in the same year-ago period on 33% higher revenue.
\n
The company is due to report its next quarterly results on Nov. 12. It's not in any major market indices, such as the S&P Small Cap 600, much less the S&P 500.
\n
What's The Draw Of Support.com?
\n
Investors are looking to Support.com as the latest opportunity to rush into a stock with heavy short interest and run it up.
\n
More than 25% of Support.com's shares outstanding are still in the hands of short-sellers. That's much higher than the 18% of AMC Entertainment shares being shorted and just 10% of GameStop.
\n
When a stock is heavily shorted like Support.com, bearish investors borrow the stock and sell the shares. But if the stock rises, these shorts are forced to buy the shares back. If they don't, they face unlimited losses. The scramble by nervous shorts to buy the stock can cause an explosive rally.
\n
Savvy investors know to look for growth companies with solid fundamentals and stock action. That is not Support.com. But investors are enjoying the ride for now.
\n
Which Stocks Turned $10,000 Into The Biggest Gains?
\n
S&P 1500 and Completion Index stocks up the most this year so far
\n
\n
\n
\n
Company
\n
Symbol
\n
Stock YTD % ch.
\n
What $10,000 invested this year is worth now
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
AMC Entertainment
\n

\n
2,019.3%
\n
$211,934
\n
\n
\n
Support.com
\n

\n
1,560.5%
\n
$166,045
\n
\n
\n
GameStop
\n

\n
1,039.4%
\n
$113,941
\n
\n
\n
Vertex Energy
\n

\n
924.9%
\n
$102,487
\n
\n
\n
Cassava Sciences
\n

\n
666.1%
\n
$76,613
\n
\n
\n
\n
Sources: IBD, S&P Global Market Intelligence
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
This Meme Stock Just Raced Past GameStop As The New Money Machine
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nThis Meme Stock Just Raced Past GameStop As The New Money Machine\n
\n\n
\n\n\n<div class=\"head\" \">\n\n\n

\n\n
\n
Investors
\n
2021-08-31 14:55
\n
\n\n
\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
Still think GameStop is the moneymaking Meme-stock to own? That's so January; the crowd has moved on.\nSupport.com erupted out of nowhere this month and is suddenly stealing the Reddit-crowd's affection. And for good reason: It's fast pushing GameStop aside. Shares of Support.com are up 1,583% just this year. That puts it ahead of the still-impressive 1,041% year-to-date rise of GameStop.\nJust Monday, SPRT stock is up 9.78, or nearly 40%, to 36.10. Shares are up more than 200%, just in the past month.\nAnd now, Support.com is the No. 2 top stock among all the stocks in S&P 1500 and S&P Completion indexes this year. And it's making a run at the No. 1 spot still hung onto by AMC Entertainment with its 2,017% gain this year.\nAnd that difference is adding up to real money. Had you plunked down $10,000 on Support.com in January, it would now be worth $168,319. That's already nearly 50% more than you would have made in that time on GameStop. And it's only 25% shy of the $211,698 you'd have if you owned AMC Entertainment.\nSupport.com Comes Out Of Nowhere\nWhat is Support.com? It's a tiny $638 million in market value company that provides tech support for employees who work from home. Yes, they're the people who tell you to reboot your computer when your email isn't working.\nAnd this is certainly not a company on Wall Street's radar. There are no current analysts following the stock, says S&P Global Market Intelligence. That means there are no valid earnings or revenue estimates, much less a price target.\nThe company reported having total assets of $46 million and liabilities of $5.7 million at the end of the last quarter in June. Or is this historically cyclical sector up to its old tricks and headed into a sustained downtrend that will rip your face off.
\n
A lot depends on your timeline but if you like to own stocks for years rather than rent them for days, the group is a buy. The chief reason: “It’s different this time.”
\n
Those are admittedly among the scariest words in investing. But the chip sector has changed so much it really is different now – in ways that suggest it is less likely to crush you.
\n
You’d be a fool to think there are no risks. I’ll go over those. But first, here are the three main reasons why the group is “safer” now – and six names favored by the half-dozen sector experts I’ve talked with over the past several days.
\n
1. The wicked witch of cyclicality is dead
\n
“Demand in the chip sector was always boom and bust, driven by product cycles,” says David Winborne, a portfolio manager at Impax Asset Management. “First PCs, then servers, then phones.” But now demand for chips has broadened across the economy so the secular growth story is more predictable, he says.
\n
Just look around you. Because of the increased “digitalization” of our lives and work, there’s greater diversity of end market demand from all angles. Think remote office services like Zoom, online shopping, cloud services, electric vehicles, 5G phones, smart factories, big data computing and even washing machines, points out Hendi Susanto, a portfolio manager and tech analyst at Gabelli Funds who is bullish on the group.
\n
“There is no aspect of the modern digital economy that can function without semiconductors,” says Motley Fool chip sector analyst John Rotonti. “That means more chips going into everything. The long-term demand is there.”
\n
He’s not kidding. Chip sector revenue will double by 2030 to $1 trillion from $465 billion in 2020, predicts William Blair analyst Greg Scolaro.
\n
All of this means the widespread supply shortages you’ve been hearing about “likely won’t be cured until sometime late next year,” says Bank of America chip sector analyst Vivek Arya. “That’s not just our view, but one confirmed by a majority of large customers.”
\n
2. The players have consolidated
\n
All up and down the production chain, from design through the various types of equipment producers to manufacturing, industry players have consolidated down into what Rotonti calls “earned” duopolies or monopolies.
\n
In chip design software, you have Cadence Design Systems and Synopsys. In production equipment, companies dominate specialized niches like ASML in extreme ultraviolet lithography (EUV). Manufacturing is dominated by Taiwan Semiconductor and Samsung Electronics.
\n
These companies earned their niche or duopoly status by being the best at what they do. This makes them interesting for investors. The consolidation also means players behave more rationally in terms of pricing and production capacity, says Rotonti.
\n
3. Profitability has improved
\n
This more rational behavior, combined with cost cutting, means profitability is now much higher than it was historically. “The economics of chip making has improved massively over past few years,” says Winbourne. Cash flow or EBITDA margins are often now over 30% whereas a decade ago they were in the 20% range.
\n
This has implications for valuation. Though chip stocks trade at about a market multiple, they appear cheap because they are better companies, points out Lamar Villere, portfolio manager with Villere & Co. “They are not trading at a frothy multiple.”
\n
The stocks to buy
\n
Here are six names favored by chip experts I recently checked in with.
\n
New management plays
\n
Though Peter Karazeris, a senior equity research analyst at Thrivent, has reasons to be cautious on the group (see below), he singles out two companies whose performance may get a boost because they are under new management: Qualcomm and ON Semiconductor.
\n
Both have solid profitability. Qualcomm was recently hit by one-off issues like bad weather in Texas that disrupted production, but the company has good exposure to the 5G phone trend. ON Semiconductor is expanding beyond phones into new areas like autos, industrial and the Internet of Things connected-device space.
\n
A data center and gaming play
\n
Karazeris also singles out Nvidia, which gets a continuing boost from its exposure to data center and gaming device chip demand — because of its superior design prowess.
\n
Design tool companies
\n
Speaking of design, when companies like Qualcomm and NVIDIA want to design chips, they turn to the design tools supplied by Cadence Design Systems and Synopsys.
\n
Their software-based design tools help chip innovators create the blueprint for their chips, explains Rotonti at Motley Fool, who singles out these names. “They are not the fastest growers in the world, but they have good profit margins.” They also dominate the space.
\n
An EUV play
\n
To put those blueprints onto silicon in the early stages of chip production, companies like Taiwan Semiconductor and Samsung turn to ASML. Its machines use tiny bursts of light to stencil chip designs onto silicon wafers, in a process called extreme ultraviolet lithography. “No one else has figured out how to do it,” says Rotonti.
\n
In other words, it has a monopoly position in supplying machines that do this – which are necessary for any company that wants to make leading edge chips.
\n
Risks
\n
Here are some of the chief risks for chip sector investors to watch.
\n
Oversupply
\n
Chip production has become politicized. The U.S. wants more production at home so it is not vulnerable to disruptions in Chinese supply chains. China wants to make 70% of the chips it uses by 2025, up from 5% now, says Winborne.
\n
The upshot here is that there’s lots of government support to boost manufacturing – so there will be much more of it. The risk is oversupply at some point in the future. This might also create a pull forward in chip equipment purchases — leading to a lull down the road which could hurt sales and margin trends at equipment makers.
\n
Next, big tech companies like Alphabet,Apple and Ammazon.com are all doing their own chip design, which threatens specialized chip companies that do the same thing.
\n
Quantum computing
\n
Computers using chip designs based on quantum physics instead of traditional semiconductor architectures have superior performance, points out Scolaro at William Blair. “While it probably won’t become mainstream for at least another five years, quantum computing has the potential to transform everything from technology to healthcare.”
\n
A disturbing signal
\n
A blend of global purchasing managers (PMI) indexes peaked in April and then decelerated for three months. Meanwhile chip sales growth continued. Normally the two follow the same trend, points out Karazeris, who tracks this indicator at Thrivent. He chalks the divergence up to inventory building which is less sustainable than true end-market demand. So, he takes the divergence as a bearish signal for the chip sector.
\n
Another cautionary sign comes from the forecasted weakness in pricing for dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) chips. “These are typically things you see at tops of cycles not the bottoms,” says Karazeris.
\n
But it’s also possible the slowdown in the global PMI is more a reflection of chip shortages than a sign that the shortages aren’t real (and are just inventory building). “The divergence doesn’t necessarily mean that chip orders are going to roll over and die. It means chip manufacturing has to catch up,” says Leuthold economist and strategist Jim Paulsen.
\n
Ford, for example, just announced it had to curtail production because of chip shortages, not a shortfall in underlying demand.
\n
Paulsen predicts decent economic growth is sustainable because of factors like high savings rates, the rebound in employment and incomes as well as pent-up demand for big ticket items. If he’s right, the continued economic strength would support demand for all the products that use chips – including Ford cars.
","source":"lsy1603348471595","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Buy the pullback in chip stocks — and focus on these 6 companies for the long haul
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nBuy the pullback in chip stocks — and focus on these 6 companies for the long haul\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-08-23 22:18 GMT+8 MarketWatch\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
The iShares Semiconductor ETF is down over 6% from recent highs.\nISTOCKPHOTO\nIn the rolling correction that’s running through the stock market, chip makers have been hit harder than most.\nThe iShares ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"AAPL":"苹果","AMZN":"亚马逊","ON":"安森美半导体","TSM":"台积电","SOXX":"iShares费城交易所半导体ETF","CDNS":"铿腾电子","GOOG":"谷歌","ASML":"阿斯麦","SNPS":"新思科技","QCOM":"高通","GOOGL":"谷歌A","SSNLF":"三星电子","NVDA":"英伟达"},"source_url":"https://www.marketwatch.com/story/buy-the-pullback-in-chip-stocks-and-focus-on-these-6-companies-for-the-long-haul-11629468380?mod=home-page","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1151608193","content_text":"The iShares Semiconductor ETF is down over 6% from recent highs.\nISTOCKPHOTO\nIn the rolling correction that’s running through the stock market, chip makers have been hit harder than most.\nThe iShares Semiconductor ETF is down over 6% from recent highs, compared to declines of 2% or less for the S&P 500,Nasdaq Composite and the Dow Jones Industrial Average.\nDoes that make chip stocks a buy? Though chip stocks trade at about a market multiple, they appear cheap because they are better companies, points out Lamar Villere, portfolio manager with Villere & Co. “They are not trading at a frothy multiple.”\nThe stocks to buy\nHere are six names favored by chip experts I recently checked in with.\nNew management plays\nThough Peter Karazeris, a senior equity research analyst at Thrivent, has reasons to be cautious on the group (see below), he singles out two companies whose performance may get a boost because they are under new management: Qualcomm and ON Semiconductor.\nBoth have solid profitability. Qualcomm was recently hit by one-off issues like bad weather in Texas that disrupted production, but the company has good exposure to the 5G phone trend. ON Semiconductor is expanding beyond phones into new areas like autos, industrial and the Internet of Things connected-device space.\nA data center and gaming play\nKarazeris also singles out Nvidia, which gets a continuing boost from its exposure to data center and gaming device chip demand — because of its superior design prowess.\nDesign tool companies\nSpeaking of design, when companies like Qualcomm and NVIDIA want to design chips, they turn to the design tools supplied by Cadence Design Systems and Synopsys.\nTheir software-based design tools help chip innovators create the blueprint for their chips, explains Rotonti at Motley Fool, who singles out these names. “They are not the fastest growers in the world, but they have good profit margins.” They also dominate the space.\nAn EUV play\nTo put those blueprints onto silicon in the early stages of chip production, companies like Taiwan Semiconductor and Samsung turn to ASML. Its machines use tiny bursts of light to stencil chip designs onto silicon wafers, in a process called extreme ultraviolet lithography. “No one else has figured out how to do it,” says Rotonti.\nIn other words, it has a monopoly position in supplying machines that do this – which are necessary for any company that wants to make leading edge chips.\nRisks\nHere are some of the chief risks for chip sector investors to watch.\nOversupply\nChip production has become politicized. The U.S. wants more production at home so it is not vulnerable to disruptions in Chinese supply chains. China wants to make 70% of the chips it uses by 2025, up from 5% now, says Winborne.\nThe upshot here is that there’s lots of government support to boost manufacturing – so there will be much more of it. The risk is oversupply at some point in the future. This might also create a pull forward in chip equipment purchases — leading to a lull down the road which could hurt sales and margin trends at equipment makers.\nNext, big tech companies like Alphabet,Apple and Ammazon.com are all doing their own chip design, which threatens specialized chip companies that do the same thing.\nQuantum computing\nComputers using chip designs based on quantum physics instead of traditional semiconductor architectures have superior performance, points out Scolaro at William Blair. “While it probably won’t become mainstream for at least another five years, quantum computing has the potential to transform everything from technology to healthcare.”\nA disturbing signal\nA blend of global purchasing managers (PMI) indexes peaked in April and then decelerated for three months. Meanwhile chip sales growth continued. Normally the two follow the same trend, points out Karazeris, who tracks this indicator at Thrivent. He chalks the divergence up to inventory building which is less sustainable than true end-market demand. So, he takes the divergence as a bearish signal for the chip sector.\nAnother cautionary sign comes from the forecasted weakness in pricing for dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) chips. “These are typically things you see at tops of cycles not the bottoms,” says Karazeris.\nBut it’s also possible the slowdown in the global PMI is more a reflection of chip shortages than a sign that the shortages aren’t real (and are just inventory building). “The divergence doesn’t necessarily mean that chip orders are going to roll over and die. It means chip manufacturing has to catch up,” says Leuthold economist and strategist Jim Paulsen.\nFord,for example, just announced it had to curtail production because of chip shortages, not a shortfall in underlying demand.\nPaulsen predicts decent economic growth is sustainable because of factors like high savings rates, the rebound in employment and incomes as well as pent-up demand for big ticket items. If he’s right, the continued economic strength would support demand for all the products that use chips – including Ford cars.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":513,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":836859043,"gmtCreate":1629471307582,"gmtModify":1633684591976,"author":{"id":"3573684056944075","authorId":"3573684056944075","name":"HuatRocket","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/261906ffcee1482e02dc3b01d3e7c071","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3573684056944075","authorIdStr":"3573684056944075"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Yes I am waiting for his entry too","listText":"Yes I am waiting for his entry too","text":"Yes I am waiting for his entry too","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/836859043","repostId":"836864951","repostType":1,"repost":{"id":836864951,"gmtCreate":1629470542073,"gmtModify":1629470542073,"author":{"id":"3568376821578241","authorId":"3568376821578241","name":"秦叔叔","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3568376821578241","authorIdStr":"3568376821578241"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$AMC院线(AMC)$31.99可能,💎👋","listText":"$AMC院线(AMC)$31.99可能,💎👋","text":"$AMC院线(AMC)$31.99可能,💎👋","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/836864951","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":0,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":365,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":838041133,"gmtCreate":1629361262022,"gmtModify":1633685417229,"author":{"id":"3573684056944075","authorId":"3573684056944075","name":"HuatRocket","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/261906ffcee1482e02dc3b01d3e7c071","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3573684056944075","authorIdStr":"3573684056944075"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Have faith","listText":"Have faith","text":"Have faith","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/838041133","repostId":"1104057904","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1104057904","pubTimestamp":1629356884,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1104057904?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-08-19 15:08","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Facebook Is ‘a Screaming Value,’ Says This Top-Performing Fund Manager","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1104057904","media":"Barrons","summary":"Rafe Resendes has one investing pet peeve. As independent consultants at Arthur Andersen, they helped General Motors set cost-of-capital hurdle rates globally and created an internal stock market within DaimlerChrysler to value its more than 100 divisions.
\n
Resendes and Obrycki eventually pivoted their business to investment research and quickly gained a following among fund managers, hedge funds, banks, and other institutional clients. In 2004, they created a model portfolio of 50 large-cap stocks trading below their intrinsic value and run by management teams with track records for compounding wealth.
\n
That was the basis of the Applied Finance Select fund, which launched in early 2017 and has an expense ratio of 1%. The fund, which is sector-neutral, always owns 50 stocks, which the Resendes and his team identify based on quantitative factors—namely, intrinsic-value rankings within each sector—and fundamental research.
\n
One of the key inputs of their intrinsic-value ranking is what they call “economic margin,” or the difference between a company’s return on capital relative to its cost of capital. Most quantitative-value models don’t properly account for the relationship between company investments—such as in research and development, or technology—and long-term profitability, says Resendes. A better way to measure intrinsic value, he says, is to ask whether management is creating or destroying value, and to what degree.
\n
For example, in 2011 the team added Google’s parent company, Alphabet, to the model portfolio when it was trading at an above-average P/E ratio—but their intrinsic value estimate suggested the stock was undervalued. Shares have since increased more than 900%, but Resendes argues the stock is still undervalued, offering more than 13% upside.
\n
“Our goal since the beginning has been to answer two questions: What’s a firm’s economic performance, and what is the firm worth?” says Resendes, whose own employee-owned firm is based in Chicago, though most of its staff began working remotely well before the pandemic.
\n
Broadly speaking, Resendes doesn’t think the market is as pricey as many investors—and especially value investors—insist. “If we were to look at the intrinsic value of every stock in, say, the Russell 3000 and compare it against where the market is trading, we would say the market is toward the expensive side, but certainly not to the point that we would be making drastic portfolio changes,” he says.
\n
The fund’s turnover is incredibly low. Seven of its top 10 holdings have been in the fund since inception. When the team makes that rare decision to sell, it’s typically because a stock’s intrinsic-value ranking falls below the 50th percentile for its sector. (This alone won’t automatically trigger a sell; the analyst covering the stock also weighs in.)
\n
In August 2020, for example, the team made the call to sell longtime holdingNvidia(NVDA), which they added to their model portfolio in 2011 when the stock traded at about a split-adjusted $3.50 a share. “We still think Nvidia still has a great future, but the expectations built into it became too rich for us,” he says. They sold the stock when it traded around a split-adjusted $132, versus $129 for their intrinsic-value estimate at the time.
\n
In its place they added semiconductor equipment supplier KLA(KLAC). “Thinking about the Gold Rush days of California, if Nvidia,Intel[INTC], and Texas Instruments[TXN] are the gold miners, KLA would be Levi’s,” he says. At the time its shares traded around $208, and its intrinsic value suggested it was worth $271. The stock recently traded around $320, but KLA’s intrinsic value has also increased, putting fair valuation at $420, as the company pairs equipment sales with consulting services that provide high recurring revenue.
\n
It’s a similar story with auto-parts maker Aptiv(APTV), which the fund bought in early 2018. Here, too, the stock has gone up, but it trades at a 20% discount to intrinsic value. “We don’t know who will ultimately emerge as winners in the electric-vehicle market, but regardless, we believe Aptiv provides a relatively high-return, low-risk way to invest in the EV transformation of the global auto industry,” Resendes says.
\n
\n

\n
","source":"lsy1601382232898","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Facebook Is ‘a Screaming Value,’ Says This Top-Performing Fund Manager
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nFacebook Is ‘a Screaming Value,’ Says This Top-Performing Fund Manager\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-08-19 15:08 GMT+8 Barrons\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Rafe Resendes has one investing pet peeve. Under his leadership, AMC’s business has been showing early but encouraging signs of recovery.
\n
Also, the CEO reinforced his good relationship with the ape community, one of the key pillars of AMC’s recovery this year. Wall Street Memes discusses why Adam Aron might be considered “one of the greatest business people”, a title recentlygivento him by Mad Money’s Jim Cramer.
\n
Adam’s background
\n
As a former CEO of the Philadelphia 76ers (currently co-owner), Norwegian Cruise Line (NCLH) and Vail Resorts (MTN), Adam Aron has been successful in every company that he has led. At the helm of AMC today, the same seems to be true, despite the immense challenges of late.
\n
Since 2015, Adam has been the CEO of AMC Entertainment. He has been consistently praised fortransformingAMC and shaking up the movie theater business.
\n
However, his biggest career challenge began last year, with the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the lockdowns, AMC was forced to close all of its theaters, which put the company on the edge of bankruptcy.
\n
Luck follows the successful
\n
Adam Aron was unknown to the masses until the surge of meme mania. With the help of the ape community, AMC share price rose to stratospheric levels and became one of the most popular stocks in the entire exchange.
\n
Due to the companybeingthe target of massive short selling, Reddit forums organized by retail investors made a push to buy AMC shares en masse. The efforts resulted in a spike in the company's market cap from $300 million in early 2021 to the current $16 billion.
\n
Following AMC's rally, in June, 11 million new shareswereissued, which enabled AMC to raise hundreds of millions in equity and gave an unexpected boost to the company's liquidity. The impact was felt in last period’s financial results. \"The second quarter of 2021 was transformational for AMC,\" said CEO Adam Aron.
\n
Apes being valued
\n
Ape commitment has been crucial for the company to raise large quantities of cash. It is not hard, therefore, to understand why Adam Aron values his individual shareholders so much. Recently, he listened to them anddeclined the issuance of another 25 million shares—which would have brought another pile of cash to AMC's vaults.
\n
In addition, the CEO has been very active and open to dialogue with the apes. According to him, many ideas suggested by shareholders were considered, including apossiblepartnership with Ryan Cohen from GameStop and theinclusionof bitcoin as payment in movie theaters — the latter having already been executed. Also, in the last earnings call,AMC openedthe floor for direct Q&A with individual shareholders, which is quite unusual among publicly traded companies.
\n
However, the CEO very carefullyhintedthat he will likely sell some of his shares in the near future to rebalance his personal equity since he has not yet sold any of his 758,747 common AMC shares. We have not seen much pushback from the ape community on his decision.
\n
Best CEO ever?
\n
Overall, CEO Adam Aron seems to enjoy a status of leadership among the apes, which he has earned by putting retail investors at the center of the conversations. Such status and his wiliness to listen, in turn, have benefitted the company (think of the equity issuance), creating a virtuous cycle that seems to please the shareholder base.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
AMC Stock: Is Adam Aron The Best CEO Ever?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nAMC Stock: Is Adam Aron The Best CEO Ever?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-08-13 17:21 GMT+8 Thestreet\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
After AMC (AMC) “crushed” second quarter results, CEO Adam Aron deserves quite a bit of credit for the accomplishment.
And during the period, it reported a net loss of $799,000 on revenue of nearly $8 million. Keep in mind, it made $617,000 in the same year-ago period on 33% higher revenue.\nThe company is due to report its next quarterly results on Nov. 12. It's not in any major market indices, such as the S&P Small Cap 600, much less the S&P 500.\nWhat's The Draw Of Support.com?\nInvestors are looking to Support.com as the latest opportunity to rush into a stock with heavy short interest and run it up.\nMore than 25% of Support.com's shares outstanding are still in the hands of short-sellers. That's much higher than the 18% of AMC Entertainment shares being shorted and just 10% of GameStop.\nWhen a stock is heavily shorted like Support.com, bearish investors borrow the stock and sell the shares. But if the stock rises, these shorts are forced to buy the shares back. If they don't, they face unlimited losses. The scramble by nervous shorts to buy the stock can cause an explosive rally.\nSavvy investors know to look for growth companies with solid fundamentals and stock action. That is not Support.com.
If he’s right, the continued economic strength would support demand for all the products that use chips – including Ford cars.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":513,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":896853115,"gmtCreate":1628571098737,"gmtModify":1633746050651,"author":{"id":"3573684056944075","authorId":"3573684056944075","name":"HuatRocket","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/261906ffcee1482e02dc3b01d3e7c071","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3573684056944075","idStr":"3573684056944075"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$go go go!!!
