That made Monday the biggest day for digital sales so far this year, and Tuesday the second-biggest day, Adobe added.\nLast holiday shopping season, sales during Cyber Monday amounted to about $10.9 billion, marking the largest U.S. online shopping day on record.\n“There’s a pent up demand for online shopping as consumers look forward to a return to normalcy,” said Taylor Schreiner, director of Adobe Digital insights. “The halo effect of Prime Day also played a significant role, giving both large and small online retailers significant revenue lifts.”\nBusinesses including Walmart, Target, Best Buy and Kohl’s have been offering competing markdowns this week.\nAdobe said that retailers that bring in more than $1 billion in revenue each year reported a 29% increase in e-commerce sales during Prime Day compared with an average June day, while smaller retailers doing less than $10 million in annual revenue saw a 21% lift.\nAdobe also found that discount levels were fairly consistent on Monday and Tuesday, with toys marked down by 12%, on average, and appliances discounted by 5%. We had one last August. There was another that March. We’re having another one now. All past tech downfalls have created opportunities. From new lows came new highs.</p>\n<p>Chart-watchers are wary this time because the bounce back from February’s lows came up short of the previous January highs. AAPL stock opened May 12 at a little under $124/share. That’s still a market cap of over $2 trillion, and the once-generous dividend of 88 cents now yields just .7%.</p>\n<p>The big question becomes, is it time to buy more? Or is this Gotterdammerung for the Cloud Czars and the end of the profit road for the iPhone?</p>\n<p><b>Why Buy Now</b></p>\n<p>I won’t leave you in suspense; this is a buying opportunity.</p>\n<p>Apple is on pace to grow sales 18% this year, to about $325 billion. Its price to earnings ratio is down to 28. If net income grows with revenue, as it should, and the stock stays where it is, that PE will be lower by year-end. Earnings go up, price stays the same, the PE rises. It’s math.</p>\n<p>I don’t question that big tech stocks have been overpriced. As profits return to other sectors of the economy, to travel and retail, to industrials and materials, investors will continue to rebalance portfolios. They’ll take money out of their big winners and invest it in new opportunities. The relative valuation of big tech should decline. That’s a sign of economic health.</p>\n<p>But glib TV analysts like Jim Cramer are fundamentally wrong. Buying the leading edge of change is a good long-term strategy. Just because funds like Cathie Wood’s<b>ARK Innovation</b>(NYSEARCA:<b><u>ARKK</u></b>) are down 30% from their highsdoesn’t mean they’re losers.As the late Paul Volcker told a woman who asked what the market would do, “Madam, prices will fluctuate.”</p>\n<p>Apple is a good example of this. A year ago, it was approaching $80/share, on a pre-split level. (Shares split 4:1 in August.) A year before that it was at $47. Over the last 5 years, the average price rise has been 25%.</p>\n<p>That’s the difference between investing and speculating. Wood may be in for more pain. ARKK is heavily into<b>Tesla</b>(NASDAQ:<b><u>TSLA</u></b>), into<b>Shopify</b>(NASDAQ:<b><u>SHOP</u></b>), into<b>Coinbase</b>(NASDAQ:<b><u>COIN</u></b>). These are “high-beta” names that jump when the market is hot but fall hard when it’s cold. The bet is that over time they’ll come good, or she’ll find other leading-edge stocks that come good. (A directed fund, unlike a computerized fund, can dump garbage like<b>Virgin Galactic</b>(NASDAQ:<b><u>SPCE</u></b>).</p>\n<p>Apple is no Tesla. Its highs will be lower, its lows will be higher. It’s the kind of stock you accumulate on weakness and hold for years. It also has huge opportunities ahead. It will unify its product line around chips it designs itself. Service revenue is still increasing. There are banking opportunities in Apple Pay, health opportunities in Apple Watch. From new lows came new highs.\nChart-watchers are wary this time because the bounce back from February’s lows came up short of the previous January highs. AAPL stock opened May 12 at a little under $124/share. That’s still a market cap of over $2 trillion, and the once-generous dividend of 88 cents now yields just .7%.\nThe big question becomes, is it time to buy more? Or is this Gotterdammerung for the Cloud Czars and the end of the profit road for the iPhone?\nWhy Buy Now\nI won’t leave you in suspense; this is a buying opportunity.\nApple is on pace to grow sales 18% this year, to about $325 billion. Its price to earnings ratio is down to 28. If net income grows with revenue, as it should, and the stock stays where it is, that PE will be lower by year-end. Earnings go up, price stays the same, the PE rises. It’s math.\nI don’t question that big tech stocks have been overpriced. As profits return to other sectors of the economy, to travel and retail, to industrials and materials, investors will continue to rebalance portfolios. They’ll take money out of their big winners and invest it in new opportunities. The relative valuation of big tech should decline. That’s a sign of economic health.\nBut glib TV analysts like Jim Cramer are fundamentally wrong. Buying the leading edge of change is a good long-term strategy. Just because funds like Cathie Wood’sARK Innovation(NYSEARCA:ARKK) are down 30% from their highsdoesn’t mean they’re losers.As the late Paul Volcker told a woman who asked what the market would do, “Madam, prices will fluctuate.”\nApple is a good example of this. It's been a good decade since consumers and businesses have been offered a significant improvement in wireless download speeds. Although AT&amp;T is spending big bucks on 5G infrastructure upgrades, it'll prove well worth it over the long run. We should expect 5G to encourage a multiyear device replacement cycle that leads to a steady increase in data consumption. Since data is what boosts the company's wireless segment, 5G represents a healthy dose of sustainable organic growth for AT&amp;T.</p>\n<p>The other major growth driver for AT&amp;T is the company's pending spinoff of content arm WarnerMedia. AT&amp;T is planning to merge WarnerMedia with <b>Discovery</b> (NASDAQ:DISCA)(NASDAQ:DISCK) to create a new media entity that'll have more than 85 million pro forma streaming subscribers and offer an even larger library of original content and sports programming. It also doesn't hurt that combining these media behemoths will eventually result in over $3 billion in annual cost savings.</p>\n<p>Discovery CEO David Zaslav, who'll head the new company, WarnerMedia-Discovery, believes it could eventually reach 400 million streaming subscribers worldwide.</p>\n<p>Additionally, jettisoning WarnerMedia will allow AT&amp;T's remaining business to reduce costs and focus on debt reduction. This'll result a reduction in its dividend payout, likely to around 5%. That's still well above the average yield of the S&amp;P 500, and the historic rate of inflation.</p>\n<p>At less than 8 times forward-year earnings, this is probably as cheap as you're ever going to see AT&amp;T get.</p>\n<h2><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AGNCO\">AGNC Investment Corp.</a>: 9.3% yield</h2>\n<p>Another ultra-high-yield dividend stock income investors can buy hand over fist in December is mortgage real estate investment trust (REIT) <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AGNCM\">AGNC Investment Corp</a>.</b> (NASDAQ:AGNC). AGNC is currently sporting a 9.3% yield and has averaged a double-digit percentage yield in 11 of the past 12 years.</p>\n<p>While the mortgage REIT industry might sound complicated, it's actually pretty easy to understand. Companies like AGNC borrow money at lower short-term lending rates and use this capital to purchase assets with a higher long-term yield. These assets are almost always mortgage-backed securities (MBS). The goal for mortgage REITs is to maximize the difference between the yield from MBSs and its borrowing rate (this is known as the net interest margin). An agency asset is one that's backed by the federal government in the event of a default. Just $2.1 billion of its $84.1 billion investment portfolio is comprised of non-agency assets.&nbsp; Though this added protection of owning agency securities does lower the yield it receives on the MBSs it buys, it also allows the company to utilize leverage to increase profits.</p>\n<p>With AGNC parsing out a monthly dividend and trading at 12% below book value, it has all the makings of a screaming buy.</p>\n<h2>Enterprise Products Partners: 8.4% yield</h2>\n<p>The third ultra-high-yield dividend stock investors can buy hand over fist in December is oil stock <b>Enterprise Products Partners</b> (NYSE:EPD). This master-limited partnership is paying out a hearty 8.4% yield and is riding a 23-year streak of increasing its base annual payout.</p>\n<p>Some of you are probably repulsed by the idea of buying anything having to do with the oil or natural gas industry given what happened last year. The coronavirus pandemic led to a historic drawdown in crude oil demand and pushed oil futures briefly into negative price territory.</p>\n<p>However, Enterprise Products Partners was hardly affected. That's because it's a midstream operator of oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids. Larger rival JPMorgan Chase boosted its dividend by 11% to $1 per share, according to the bank. JPMorgan said it \"continues to be authorized\" to tap an existing share repurchase plan.\nBank of America said its dividend would rise 17% to 21 cents.
