Fool","summary":"These fundamentally strong stocks are much better bets than the over-hyped Dogecoin.","content":"
Dogecoin (CRYPTO:DOGE) has been all over the news in 2021, and for good reason. By early May 2021, this meme-inspired cryptocurrency had gained over 12,000% since the start of 2021. And even now, when Dogecoin is more than 40% below its all-time high of $0.74, it is still 6,880% up so far this year (as of this writing).
\n
But Dogecoin is extremely volatile, and is not backed by any asset. Its rally has been mainly fueled by Reddit hype and celebrity endorsements. Dogecoin has no significant competitive advantage over other cryptocurrencies -- be it transaction fees or payment speeds. Retail investors should stay away from such speculative investments to safeguard their portfolios from extreme ups and downs.
\n
Instead, I have three companies in mind that are riding huge secular tailwinds and can grow dramatically in the coming months -- all without significantly increasing your portfolio risk. Let's see why PayPal Holdings (NASDAQ:PYPL), Lemonade (NYSE:LMND), and Novocure (NASDAQ:NVCR) fit the bill.
\n
\n
1. PayPal
\n
A pioneer in digital payments, PayPal has benefited dramatically from the accelerated adoption of e-commerce and digital transactions, a trend that will likely continue after the pandemic ends.
\n
At the end of the first quarter (ended March 31), PayPal had 392 million active customer accounts and 31 million merchant accounts on its platform. As more and more users join PayPal, the payment facilitator becomes even more unavoidable for businesses, which then attracts even more customers. This network effect is difficult to disrupt and is a solid entry barrier for competition.
\n
To attract even more customers, PayPal has focused on introducing a range of innovative products and services such as cashless payment features for in-store purchases including payment cards, QR codes, and tap-and-pay and buy now, pay later capability for its PayPal and Venmo wallets. For customers using buy now, pay later, PayPal has noted a 15% increase in total payment volume and 16% decline in cost per transaction (since debit payments are cheaper).
\n
In the first quarter, PayPal revenue, adjusted earnings per share (EPS), and free cash flow soared year over year by 31%, 84%, and 27%, respectively. The company expects its total active accounts to increase by 52 million to 55 million in fiscal 2021 and TPV to jump year over year by 30%. PayPal is now anticipating its fiscal 2021 revenue and adjusted EPS to be up year over year by 20% and 21%, respectively, in fiscal 2021.
\n
Trading at 13.6 times trailing-12-month (TTM) sales, PayPal is not the cheapest stock on the market. However, in a world rapidly going cashless, this digital payments giant can be an attractive investment for retail investors even at these elevated levels.
\n
2. Lemonade
\n
Insurance technology company Lemonade's stock is over 47% below its all-time high of $190 from January as of this writing. Investors are disappointed by the company's first-quarter (ended March 31) loss ratio (percentage of claims incurred to premiums collected) of 121%, which is dramatically more than the 71% for fiscal 2020. The property damage caused by Winter Storm Uri in Texas resulted in the company processing \"a year's worth of claims in just a few days.\" Such natural catastrophes are mostly unpredictable, although some amount of downside can be protected by reinsurance.
\n
Despite these challenges, Lemonade has shown progress where it truly matters. In the first quarter, the company's total customers rose 50% year over year to 1.1 million, in-force premium (aggregate annualized premium) was up 89% to $252 million, and premium per customer rose 25% to $229. These numbers highlight the strength of Lemonade's tech-enabled disruptive customer service model, which allows users to purchase policies and process claims in a matter of minutes. The company's foray into pet insurance, life insurance, and now car insurance has also opened several cross-selling opportunities.
\n
Lemonade now expects its fiscal 2021 revenue to rise by 24% to 28% year over year, up from the previous guidance of 21% to 24%. The company also maintained its previous EBITDA loss guidance of $163 million to $173 million, despite higher losses incurred in the first quarter. Finally, the company is sitting on a $1.03 billion unrestricted cash pile, which is sufficient to cover most of its losses at least for the next few years.
\n
Lemonade is trading at a rich price-to-sales (P/S) multiple of about 59. However, considering that the company collects over 100 times more data from its customers than traditional insurers, Lemonade can leverage its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to develop a much stronger customer experience and risk management system. The company uses AI-based bots and data capabilities for customer acquisition and claims processing, which helps it reduce its payroll expenses. This technology-focused approach has enabled the company to offer cheaper policies for similar coverage. Hence, younger customers (with higher lifetime value) are increasingly opting for Lemonade over traditional insurers. Against this backdrop, the company offers an attractive risk-reward proposition to long-term investors, even at higher valuation levels.
\n
3. Novocure
\n
Medical device company Novocure has come up with a unique technology to fight aggressive cancers. The company's flagship product is a wearable and portable device called Optune, which works by creating tumor-treating fields (TTFs). These are electric fields that help control cancer cell division without affecting healthy cells.
\n
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has already approved the use of Optune for treating mesothelioma (a rare cancer caused due to asbestos exposure) and for two types of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), which is aggressive brain cancer. In the first quarter, the company's active patients rose 12% year over year to 3,454. While GBM is the company's main revenue driver, there is still much room to grow considering that penetration in this indication in the U.S.; Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA); and Japan is only 37%, 34%, and 31%, respectively.
\n
Novocure's TTF treatment is also being evaluated in other aggressive cancers such as non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), pancreatic cancer, ovarian cancer, and gastric cancer. Investor hopes are high for these pipeline programs, especially after the FDA allowed the company to reduce the enrollment requirement for the control arm in the phase 3 pivotal Lunar trial evaluating the efficacy of TTFs in advanced NSCLC. This decision is based on an interim analysis of the trial by an independent data monitoring committee. According to the committee, \"it is likely unnecessary and possibly unethical for patients randomized to the control arm to continue accrual to 534 patients with 18 months follow-up.\" While the clinical trial data is blinded for Novocure, it is completely unblinded for for the data monitoring committee. With the committee considering it unethical to refuse TTF treatment to patients in the control arm, it seems obvious that Novocure's product is demonstrating significant clinical benefits.
\n
In the first quarter, the company's revenue was up year over year by 32% to $134.7 million, while adjusted EBITDA rose 40% year over year to $21 million. The company had $864 million of cash on its balance sheet at end of the first quarter. Unlike many medical technology companies with innovative products, Novocure is already profitable. In fiscal 2020, the company reported a net income of $20 million. Against this backdrop, despite trading at a P/S multiple of over 40, the stock can prove to be an attractive investment for retail investors.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Unstoppable Stocks That Can Leave Dogecoin in the Dust
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Unstoppable Stocks That Can Leave Dogecoin in the Dust\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-06 08:34 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Dogecoin (CRYPTO:DOGE) has been all over the news in 2021, and for good reason. By early May 2021, this meme-inspired cryptocurrency had gained over 12,000% since the start of 2021. And even now, when Dogecoin is more than 40% below its all-time high of $0.74, it is still 6,880% up so far this year (as of this writing).\nBut Dogecoin is extremely volatile, and is not backed by any asset. Its rally has been mainly fueled by Reddit hype and celebrity endorsements. Dogecoin has no significant competitive advantage over other cryptocurrencies -- be it transaction fees or payment speeds. Retail investors should stay away from such speculative investments to safeguard their portfolios from extreme ups and downs.\nInstead, I have three companies in mind that are riding huge secular tailwinds and can grow dramatically in the coming months -- all without significantly increasing your portfolio risk. Let's see why PayPal Holdings (NASDAQ:PYPL), Lemonade (NYSE:LMND), and Novocure (NASDAQ:NVCR) fit the bill.\nImage source: Getty Images.\n1. PayPal\nA pioneer in digital payments, PayPal has benefited dramatically from the accelerated adoption of e-commerce and digital transactions, a trend that will likely continue after the pandemic ends.\nAt the end of the first quarter (ended March 31), PayPal had 392 million active customer accounts and 31 million merchant accounts on its platform. As more and more users join PayPal, the payment facilitator becomes even more unavoidable for businesses, which then attracts even more customers. This network effect is difficult to disrupt and is a solid entry barrier for competition.\nTo attract even more customers, PayPal has focused on introducing a range of innovative products and services such as cashless payment features for in-store purchases including payment cards, QR codes, and tap-and-pay and buy now, pay later capability for its PayPal and Venmo wallets. For customers using buy now, pay later, PayPal has noted a 15% increase in total payment volume and 16% decline in cost per transaction (since debit payments are cheaper).\nIn the first quarter, PayPal revenue, adjusted earnings per share (EPS), and free cash flow soared year over year by 31%, 84%, and 27%, respectively. The company expects its total active accounts to increase by 52 million to 55 million in fiscal 2021 and TPV to jump year over year by 30%. PayPal is now anticipating its fiscal 2021 revenue and adjusted EPS to be up year over year by 20% and 21%, respectively, in fiscal 2021.\nTrading at 13.6 times trailing-12-month (TTM) sales, PayPal is not the cheapest stock on the market. However, in a world rapidly going cashless, this digital payments giant can be an attractive investment for retail investors even at these elevated levels.\n2. Lemonade\nInsurance technology company Lemonade's stock is over 47% below its all-time high of $190 from January as of this writing. Investors are disappointed by the company's first-quarter (ended March 31) loss ratio (percentage of claims incurred to premiums collected) of 121%, which is dramatically more than the 71% for fiscal 2020. The company also maintained its previous EBITDA loss guidance of $163 million to $173 million, despite higher losses incurred in the first quarter. Finally, the company is sitting on a $1.03 billion unrestricted cash pile, which is sufficient to cover most of its losses at least for the next few years.\nLemonade is trading at a rich price-to-sales (P/S) multiple of about 59. But Instinet points out that the S&P 500 has had a better track record recently, gaining every June since 2016. Over 20 years, it averaged a monthly decline of 0.6%, and was negative 11 times.\nInstinet also notes that over the course of the 20 years, the S&P 500 tended to be higher in the first half of the month before dipping to a multi-month low in the second half.\nThe S&P 500 started off the first trading day of June with a bounce, shooting to within 4 points of its all-time high of 4,238. But by afternoon, it was negative, closing down 2 points to 4,202.\nThe benchmark sits less than 1% from its intraday all-time high.\nThe biggest worry for stocks has been inflation, and the recent readings for inflation have all come in higher than expected.\n“I really think it’s all about inflation, inflation, inflation and rates, rates, rates,” said Peter Boockvar, chief investment officer at Bleakley Advisory Group.\nMarket focus is already on the June 15 and 16 Fed meeting, viewed as the most important market event this month. The May employment report Friday and inflation measures, like the consumer price index, will also be important.\nStrategists say the market could hit new highs but it could be choppy if inflation runs hotter than expected or the Fed begins to sound more hawkish.\nInflation is a double-edged sword for stocks. On one hand, companies that can pass along higher costs in the form of higher prices have pricing power and that can help earnings grow. But if inflation gets too hot, it can eat away at profit margins. If it keeps rising, it can prompt the Fed to raise interest rates, which increase borrowing costs for companies and threaten returns for growth stocks in particular.\nMorgan Stanley chief U.S. equity strategist Mike Wilson notes that the June 10 release of the consumer price index could be a key date for the market this month.\n“Inflation expectations have also increased beyond what may be achievable in the near term. Inflation is on the upswing in our view and will eventually surpass the Fed’s targets on a sustainable basis,” noted Wilson. “However, expectations have increased too and now price this rise in many asset markets.”\nWilson said the CPI release may be a “sell the news event that could negatively affect many crowded trades.”\nSo far, the Fed has said inflation is transitory, and price data looks hotter because it is being compared to a weak period last year. But the concern is if it is not, the Fed will have to act to stop rising prices. That means it could start to pare back its bond buying sooner than expected, and ultimately raise interest rates sooner as well.\n“I don’t think you’re going to prove until the fall, where inflation is,” said James Paulsen, chief investment strategist at Leuthold Group. “If it’s still hot into the fall, we have a problem. I think odds are low on that. Everybody knows we’re going to get hot inflation numbers. We know why at least in part.”\nPaulsen also does not expect the stock market to pull back until the fall, at the earliest. He said valuations should be helped by much stronger earnings growth, and he expects economic data to start coming in better-than-expected.\nScott Redler, partner with T3Live.com, expects the S&P 500 to trade to new highs in June, but he said the market is tentative ahead of jobs data. “The market is waiting to see what is going to happen with the jobs report Friday,” he said.\nThe Fed has emphasized it will be patient, keeping its policy easy as the labor market and economy heals. Treasury yields have been trapped in a range, below early April highs, in part due to the April jobs report and other data that missed expectations. The benchmark 10-year was at 1.60% Tuesday. Yields move opposite price.\nA comment on labor, however, from St. Louis Fed President James Bullard, however, surprised some market pros.\nBullard told the Financial Times that even with the economy down 8 million jobs, the labor market could be tighter than it looks. If so, that would suggest the Fed could be on a faster track to raise interest rates than expected. Economists expect 674,000 jobs were added in May, up sharply from the 266,000 gained in April, according to Dow Jones.\n\nQuincy Krosby, chief market strategist at Prudential Financial, said a weaker jobs number may ironically be more favorable for the market. “If we have a weaker number, not as strong as the market expects, we could have new [stock market] highs,” she said. “That suggests the Fed remains steadfast.”\nBut she said the market could be spooked if inflation is higher than expected, and it raises speculation the Fed may begin to slow its asset purchases.\nThe Fed last year changed its policy on inflation so that it now tolerates a range for inflation, where it can run above its former 2% target for a while. Winding down the bond program is seen as a first step toward the Fed raising interest rates, which most strategists don’t expect until 2023 at the earliest.\nLately, Fed officials have said they expect to begin discussing the tapering bond purchases at upcoming meetings.\n“They’ve already offered language about the potential to discuss the pace of monthly purchases. Any language that intensifies that is going to be picked up by the market,” said Prudential Financial’s Krosby. “The market is vulnerable to understanding the timetable of how the Fed is thinking and how the Fed interprets the data.”\nMarc Chandler, chief market strategist at Bannockburn Global Forex, said the tone of the market heading into June remains “risk on.”\n“I think that’s what the currency markets are saying. Sterling made a new 3-year high. The Canadian dollar made a new 4-year high. Gold has rallied,” he said. “The underlying tone of the dollar is weak. That tells you it’s risk on.” He said risk assets, like stocks, should continue to do well unless yields start to rise too much.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":375,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":110136378,"gmtCreate":1622429390794,"gmtModify":1622429390794,"author":{"id":"3556498218844440","authorId":"3556498218844440","name":"Damon_6050","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9aaf172f19c0e8d89da07599130e48a4","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3556498218844440","idStr":"3556498218844440"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"<a taking dramatic steps to save the economy and financial markets from ruin.
\n
Now, as the recovery kicks into gear, they've become a major risk for investors.
\n
What's happening: The latest reading of the Back-to-Normal Index from CNN Business shows that the US economy's comeback is 90% complete. But investors are increasingly worried that the Federal Reserve, observing such promising data and rising inflation, will make a damaging mistake, such as moving too soon to roll back unprecedented levels of support — or ignoring growing problems until they're too late.
\n
In a Deutsche Bank survey of 620 market professionals published this week, 39% of respondents listed a \"central bank policy error\" as one of the top three risks to market stability, up from 21% the previous month.
\n
Similar fears are reflected in the survey of global fund managers posted by Bank of America last week. The number two risk, behind inflation, is a \"taper tantrum,\" referring to a scenario where central banks ease up on bond purchases, increasing yields and sparking a panic in markets.
\n
Big picture: Investors have become hooked on easy money from central banks like the Fed, whose decision to slash interest rates to rock bottom and buy up hundreds of billions of dollars in bonds fed the market's rapid rebound after the initial coronavirus shock.
\n
But such policies have also handed central banks huge power to dictate market outcomes, making it harder for them to pivot down the line.
\n
See here: The Fed's balance sheet increased to $7.4 trillion last year, the highest level on record, according to a new report from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. By 2023, it could grow to $9 trillion, it projects. That's almost as much as the combined annual GDP of Japan and Germany — and means policymakers can't afford to make a mistake.
\n
After a long holding pattern, central banks are \"waking up\" to the risk of a \"consequential financial accident,\" Mohamed El-Erian, an adviser to Allianz and Gramercy, wrote Tuesday in an op-ed for the Financial Times. But they're in a difficult position, he added.
\n
For now, the Fed continues to hold firm its stance that it's monitoring risks but does not intend to take near-term action, even as prices rise.
\n
\"There are reasons why we should be seeing higher price levels today,\" Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic said Monday. \"The question is how enduring is it going to be. Right now, I am not seeing it is going to be enduring.\"
\n
The European Central Bank is sounding slightly more cautious. Last week, it warned that while \"the economy is still reliant upon policy support to prevent widespread unemployment, corporate insolvencies and economic contraction,\" financial markets have \"exhibited remarkable exuberance.\"
\n
El-Erian thinks that investors \"should be encouraging the Fed to pivot rather than just focus on the continued joy of surfing the liquidity wave.\" But breaking an addiction is easier said than done, even as the potential for negative complications add up.
\n
Apple and Epic Games await a blockbuster verdict
\n
A weeks-long antitrust trial between Apple (AAPL) and Epic Games culminated with the maker of the hit video game Fortnite calling Apple an \"overlord\" and the iPhone maker suggesting Epic is paving the way for a \"scary\" future for iOS customers.
\n
After spending days presenting reams of dueling economic analysis and documentary evidence, the two sides landed on Monday where they began: arguing over how Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers should interpret Apple's role in a sprawling digital economy, my CNN Business colleagues Brian Fung and Rishi Iyengar report.
\n
Remember: The outcome of that analysis could reshape how digital app stores work or uphold Apple's prime position in its app ecosystem.
\n
What comes next: Gonzalez Rogers is set to decide whether Apple is an agile innovator that reaped just rewards for building a popular app business, or if it is, as Epic alleges, a monopolist that uses its control over the iOS App Store to illegally harm competition, restrict innovation and keep prices high.
\n
The judge said Monday she aims to issue an opinion by mid-August, though it could take longer given the thousands of pages generated by the case.
\n
Reading the tea leaves: Gonzalez Rogers offered critical questions to both sides. She challenged Apple on the fees it charges developers, and at times implied she was open to finding that Apple had broken the law. But she also pushed hard against Epic on Monday, suggesting that what the company was asking her to do was to \"change the business model\" of Apple.
\n
Investor insight: Nick Rodelli, head of Legal Edge Research at CFRA, told clients that he thinks Epic \"has a slight edge in winning the Apple litigation.\" That could deal a major blow to Apple's stock, given that App Store practices contribute a significant share of its pre-tax income.
\n
Congress is skeptical of the SPAC boom
\n
Are everyday investors getting duped by SPACs, one of Wall Street's hottest trends over the past year?
\n
That's the growing concern in Washington. On Monday, lawmakers held a hearing to scrutinize whether more protections are needed now that billions of dollars have been allocated to special-purpose acquisition companies, which raise funding and then hunt for promising companies to take public. Startups including space venture Virgin Galactic (SPCE) and electric vehicle companies Lordstown Motors and Arrival have opted to merge with SPACs instead of pursuing traditional initial public offerings.
\n
Reading the mood: \"I have deep concerns about the lack of transparency and accountability that is a hallmark of the SPAC process,\" Rep. Maxine Waters, the chair of the House Financial Services Committee, said in her opening statement.
\n
One fear: SPACs have more leeway to make ambitious projections for future growth — and retail investors are \"buying into this kind of hype,\" testified Andrew Park, senior policy analyst at Americans for Financial Reform.
\n
\"Whereas in an IPO, issuers and underwriters are liable for making false and misleading forward looking statements, SPACs are not subject to that same standard,\" Park said. \"That has emboldened many pre-revenue companies in highly speculative industries such as electric vehicles, cryptocurrency, and space exploration to make what might generously be called very rosy projections.\"
\n
That could change. The House is looking at legislation that would alter how such rules apply to SPACs. The Securities and Exchange Commission could do the same. Does this spell the beginning of the end of the SPAC boom?
\n
Up next
\n
AutoZone (AZO) reports results before US markets open. Right now, I am not seeing it is going to be enduring.\"\nThe European Central Bank is sounding slightly more cautious. Last week, it warned that while \"the economy is still reliant upon policy support to prevent widespread unemployment, corporate insolvencies and economic contraction,\" financial markets have \"exhibited remarkable exuberance.\"\nEl-Erian thinks that investors \"should be encouraging the Fed to pivot rather than just focus on the continued joy of surfing the liquidity wave.\" But breaking an addiction is easier said than done, even as the potential for negative complications add up.\nApple and Epic Games await a blockbuster verdict\nA weeks-long antitrust trial between Apple (AAPL) and Epic Games culminated with the maker of the hit video game Fortnite calling Apple an \"overlord\" and the iPhone maker suggesting Epic is paving the way for a \"scary\" future for iOS customers.\nAfter spending days presenting reams of dueling economic analysis and documentary evidence, the two sides landed on Monday where they began: arguing over how Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers should interpret Apple's role in a sprawling digital economy, my CNN Business colleagues Brian Fung and Rishi Iyengar report.\nRemember: The outcome of that analysis could reshape how digital app stores work or uphold Apple's prime position in its app ecosystem.\nWhat comes next: Gonzalez Rogers is set to decide whether Apple is an agile innovator that reaped just rewards for building a popular app business, or if it is, as Epic alleges, a monopolist that uses its control over the iOS App Store to illegally harm competition, restrict innovation and keep prices high.\nThe judge said Monday she aims to issue an opinion by mid-August, though it could take longer given the thousands of pages generated by the case.\nReading the tea leaves: Gonzalez Rogers offered critical questions to both sides. She challenged Apple on the fees it charges developers, and at times implied she was open to finding that Apple had broken the law. But she also pushed hard against Epic on Monday, suggesting that what the company was asking her to do was to \"change the business model\" of Apple.\nInvestor insight: Nick Rodelli, head of Legal Edge Research at CFRA, told clients that he thinks Epic \"has a slight edge in winning the Apple litigation.\" That could deal a major blow to Apple's stock, given that App Store practices contribute a significant share of its pre-tax income.\nCongress is skeptical of the SPAC boom\nAre everyday investors getting duped by SPACs, one of Wall Street's hottest trends over the past year?\nThat's the growing concern in Washington. On Monday, lawmakers held a hearing to scrutinize whether more protections are needed now that billions of dollars have been allocated to special-purpose acquisition companies, which raise funding and then hunt for promising companies to take public. Startups including space venture Virgin Galactic (SPCE) and electric vehicle companies Lordstown Motors and Arrival have opted to merge with SPACs instead of pursuing traditional initial public offerings.\nReading the mood: \"I have deep concerns about the lack of transparency and accountability that is a hallmark of the SPAC process,\" Rep. Maxine Waters, the chair of the House Financial Services Committee, said in her opening statement.\nOne fear: SPACs have more leeway to make ambitious projections for future growth — and retail investors are \"buying into this kind of hype,\" testified Andrew Park, senior policy analyst at Americans for Financial Reform.\n\"Whereas in an IPO, issuers and underwriters are liable for making false and misleading forward looking statements, SPACs are not subject to that same standard,\" Park said. \"That has emboldened many pre-revenue companies in highly speculative industries such as electric vehicles, cryptocurrency, and space exploration to make what might generously be called very rosy projections.\"\nThat could change. The House is looking at legislation that would alter how such rules apply to SPACs. The Securities and Exchange Commission could do the same. Does this spell the beginning of the end of the SPAC boom?\nUp next\nAutoZone (AZO) reports results before US markets open. And they have great growth prospects.","content":"
When Cathie Wood talks, people listen. And when she buys stocks, people pay attention.
\n
That's not surprising. Wood's ARK exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have been huge winners in recent years. Wood has become one of the most-followed investors around. Some have speculated that she could be the next Warren Buffett. Others have called her the \"anti-Warren Buffett\" because of her strikingly different investing style from that of the Oracle of Omaha.
\n
You could simply invest in one of the ARK ETFs to benefit from Wood's stock-picking prowess. Another route, though, is to buy shares of individual stocks favored by Wood. Here are three stocks Cathie Wood really likes that should make you rich over the long run.
\n

\n
\n
Square
\n
There's a revolution going on in the financial world. And Square (NYSE:SQ) stands as a leader in that revolution. The stock ranks as the top holding in Wood's ARK Fintech Innovation ETF and the second largest position in the ARK Innovation ETF.
\n
Square achieved its initial success by providing payment processing services to small- and medium-sized businesses. Over time, the company expanded its products and services to include point-of-sale software, an e-commerce platform, payroll services, business debit cards, and more. As of this month, Square also now operates a federally chartered bank. This opens the door for Square to provide small-business loans to its customers.
\n
The company's biggest growth driver, though, is its Cash App digital wallet. In the fourth quarter, over 36 million customers were active users of Cash App -- 50% more than in the prior-year period. Square has steadily added to the features available on Cash App, making it increasingly popular for individuals to conduct a wide range of financial transactions.
\n
The shift from cash to digital payments is still only in its early stages. Square is poised to grow much larger with both its seller and Cash App ecosystems -- and make investors a lot of money along the way.
\n
Teladoc Health
\n
Is Cathie Wood worried about the threat Amazon.com might pose for Teladoc Health (NYSE:TDOC)? Not a bit. She loaded up on more shares of Teladoc after Amazon recently announced plans to compete in the telehealth market. Teladoc is currently the No. 1 position in the ARK Genomic Revolution ETF and the fourth-biggest holding in the ARK Innovation ETF.
\n
There's a good reason Wood likes Teladoc so much. The company is the global virtual care leader. Over 40% of the Fortune 500 use Teladoc Health's services. Teladoc provides a more comprehensive product offering than any of its rivals.
\n
The growth prospects for Teladoc are fantastic. The company has nearly as many potential users at existing clients as it does members. Teladoc's acquisition of Livongo Health, which operates a digital health platform that helps individuals manage chronic conditions, gives it significant cross-selling opportunities.
\n
McKinsey and Company predicts that the U.S. virtual care market will reach close to $250 billion annually. The number is even bigger including international markets. Teladoc's market cap stands below $30 billion. This Cathie Wood favorite has plenty of room to run.
\n
Vertex Pharmaceuticals
\n
Vertex Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:VRTX) ranks as the sixth-largest holding in the ARK Genomic Revolution ETF. It arguably has the strongest moat right now of any of the top stocks in Wood's ETFs.
\n
The big biotech doesn't have any rivals in its core market. Vertex's four approved cystic fibrosis (CF) drugs are the only ones that treat the underlying cause of the genetic disease. The closest potential competitors are currently evaluating experimental CF therapies in phase 2 testing.
\n
Vertex is also leveraging its expertise in CF to target other rare genetic diseases. It expects to report key results from a phase 2 study evaluating VX-864 in treating liver disease alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency within the next few months. And when she buys stocks, people pay attention.\nThat's not surprising. Wood's ARK exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have been huge winners in recent years. Wood has become one of the most-followed investors around. Some have speculated that she could be the next Warren Buffett. Others have called her the \"anti-Warren Buffett\" because of her strikingly different investing style from that of the Oracle of Omaha.\nYou could simply invest in one of the ARK ETFs to benefit from Wood's stock-picking prowess. Another route, though, is to buy shares of individual stocks favored by Wood. Here are three stocks Cathie Wood really likes that should make you rich over the long run.\n\nImage source: Getty Images.\nSquare\nThere's a revolution going on in the financial world. And Square (NYSE:SQ) stands as a leader in that revolution. The stock ranks as the top holding in Wood's ARK Fintech Innovation ETF and the second largest position in the ARK Innovation ETF.\nSquare achieved its initial success by providing payment processing services to small- and medium-sized businesses. Over time, the company expanded its products and services to include point-of-sale software, an e-commerce platform, payroll services, business debit cards, and more. As of this month, Square also now operates a federally chartered bank. This opens the door for Square to provide small-business loans to its customers.\nThe company's biggest growth driver, though, is its Cash App digital wallet. In the fourth quarter, over 36 million customers were active users of Cash App -- 50% more than in the prior-year period. Square has steadily added to the features available on Cash App, making it increasingly popular for individuals to conduct a wide range of financial transactions.\nThe shift from cash to digital payments is still only in its early stages. Square is poised to grow much larger with both its seller and Cash App ecosystems -- and make investors a lot of money along the way.\nTeladoc Health\nIs Cathie Wood worried about the threat Amazon.com might pose for Teladoc Health (NYSE:TDOC)? Not a bit. She loaded up on more shares of Teladoc after Amazon recently announced plans to compete in the telehealth market. Teladoc is currently the No. 1 position in the ARK Genomic Revolution ETF and the fourth-biggest holding in the ARK Innovation ETF.\nThere's a good reason Wood likes Teladoc so much. The company is the global virtual care leader. Over 40% of the Fortune 500 use Teladoc Health's services. Teladoc provides a more comprehensive product offering than any of its rivals.\nThe growth prospects for Teladoc are fantastic. The company has nearly as many potential users at existing clients as it does members. Teladoc's acquisition of Livongo Health, which operates a digital health platform that helps individuals manage chronic conditions, gives it significant cross-selling opportunities.\nMcKinsey and Company predicts that the U.S. virtual care market will reach close to $250 billion annually. The number is even bigger including international markets. Teladoc's market cap stands below $30 billion. This Cathie Wood favorite has plenty of room to run.\nVertex Pharmaceuticals\nVertex Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:VRTX) ranks as the sixth-largest holding in the ARK Genomic Revolution ETF. It arguably has the strongest moat right now of any of the top stocks in Wood's ETFs.\nThe big biotech doesn't have any rivals in its core market. Vertex's four approved cystic fibrosis (CF) drugs are the only ones that treat the underlying cause of the genetic disease. The closest potential competitors are currently evaluating experimental CF therapies in phase 2 testing.\nVertex is also leveraging its expertise in CF to target other rare genetic diseases. It expects to report key results from a phase 2 study evaluating VX-864 in treating liver disease alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency within the next few months. The company's pipeline also includes candidates targeting rare blood disorders beta-thalassemia and sickle cell disease (with its partner CRISPR Therapeutics) and rare kidney disease focal segmental glomerulosclerosis.\nIn addition, Vertex has a potential game-changer that just advanced to a phase 1/2 study. Cell therapy VX-880 just might be able to enable patients with type 1 diabetes to live insulin-independent if it succeeds in clinical testing.\nVertex has a $6.6 billion cash stockpile that it plans to use in scooping up mid-to-late-stage candidates to beef up its pipeline even more. I think this biotech stock should continue to be a big winner for years to come.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":54,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":190855128,"gmtCreate":1620612213464,"gmtModify":1620612213464,"author":{"id":"3556498218844440","authorId":"3556498218844440","name":"Damon_6050","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9aaf172f19c0e8d89da07599130e48a4","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3556498218844440","authorIdStr":"3556498218844440"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Cool ","listText":"Cool ","text":"Cool","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/190855128","repostId":"2134686276","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":162,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":377945365,"gmtCreate":1619492364657,"gmtModify":1619492364657,"author":{"id":"3556498218844440","authorId":"3556498218844440","name":"Damon_6050","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9aaf172f19c0e8d89da07599130e48a4","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3556498218844440","authorIdStr":"3556498218844440"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Leave me a comment guys ","listText":"Leave me a comment guys ","text":"Leave me a comment guys","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/377945365","repostId":"1184404050","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1184404050","pubTimestamp":1619319329,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1184404050?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-04-25 10:55","market":"us","language":"en","title":"What to watch in the markets this week","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1184404050","media":"CNBC","summary":"The last week of April will be extremely busy for markets with a third of the S&P 500 reporting earnings, a Federal Reserve meeting, and new spending and tax proposals from the White House.Big Tech is a highlight of the earnings calendar, with Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook and Alphabet all releasing results. The Fed is not expected to take any action, but economists expect it to defend its policy to let inflation run hot. There is some key data including first-quarter gross domestic product a","content":"
\n
KEY POINTSThe last week of April will be extremely busy for markets with a third of the S&P 500 reporting earnings, a Federal Reserve meeting, and new spending and tax proposals from the White House....
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The president addresses a joint session of Congress Wednesday evening. It’s a huge week for earnings with about a third of the S&P 500 reporting, including Big Tech names, such as Apple,Microsoft,Alphabet and Amazon. As many have already done, firms like Boeing, Ford,Caterpillar and McDonald’s, are likely to detail cost pressures they are facing from rising materials and transportation costs and supply chain disruptions. At the same time, the Fed is expected to defend its policy of letting inflation run hot, while assuring markets it sees the pick-up in prices as only temporary. The central bank meets on Tuesday and Wednesday. The central bank takes the main stage“I think the Fed would like not to be a feature next week, but the Fed will be forced from the background because of concerns about inflation,” said Diane Swonk, chief economist at Grant Thornton. The central bank is not expected to make any policy moves, but Fed Chairman Jerome Powell’s press briefing following the meeting Wednesday will be closely watched. So far, the barrage of earnings news has been positive, with 86% of companies reporting earnings beats. Corporate profits are expected to be up about 33.9% for the first quarter, based on estimates and actual reports, according to Refinitiv. Revenues are about 9.9% higher. There is important inflation data Friday when the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge is reported. The personal consumption expenditure report is expected to show a 1.8% rise in core inflation, still below the Fed’s target of 2%. Other data releases include the first-quarter gross domestic product on Thursday, which is expected to have grown by 6.5%, according to Dow Jones.“I think the Fed has no urgency to shift monetary policy at this point,” said Ian Lyngen, head of U.S. rates strategy at BMO. “The Fed needs to acknowledge that the data is improving. We had a strong first quarter.”“The Fed needs to acknowledge that but at the same time they’re keeping extremely accommodative policy in place, so they’ll have to make a note to the fact that the easy policy is warranted,” he said.Lyngen said the Fed will likely point to continued concerns about the pandemic globally as a potential risk to the economic recovery.Powell is also expected to once more explain that the Fed will let inflation rise above its 2% target for a period of time before it raises rates so that the economy can have more time to heal. “It’s going to be a challenge for the Fed,” said Swonk. The base effects for the next several months will make inflation appear to have jumped sharply because of the comparison to a weak period last year. The consumer price index for April could be above 3%, compared to 2.6% last month, Swonk added.“The Fed is trying to let a lot more people get out onto the dance floor before it calls ‘last call,’” she said. “Really what Powell has been saying since day one is if we take care of people on the margins and bring them back into the labor force, the rest will take care of itself.”Stocks were slightly lower in the past week, and Treasury yields held at lower levels. The 10-year yield, which moves opposite price, was at 1.55% Friday. The S&P 500was down 0.1%, ending the week at 4,180, while Nasdaq Composite was down nearly 0.3% at 14,016. The Dow was off just shy of 0.5% at 34,043.Tax hike prospectsStocks were hit hard on Thursday when after a news report said that Biden is expected to propose a capital gains tax rate of 39.6% for people earning more than $1 million a year.Combined with the 3.8% net investment income tax, the new levy would more than double the long term capital gains rate of 20% or the richest Americans.Strategists said Biden is expected to propose raising the income tax rate for those earning more than $400,000.“I think a lot of people are starting to price in the risk there going to be a significant increase in both corporate and capital gains taxes,” said Lyngen. So far, companies have not provided much in the way of commentary on the proposed hike in corporate taxes to 28% from 21% but they have been talking about other costs.David Bianco, chief investment strategist for the Americas at DWS, said he expects larger companies will do better dealing with supply chain constraints than smaller ones. Big Tech is also likely to fare better during the semiconductor shortage than auto makers, which have already announced production shutdowns, he said.“Next week is tech week. I think we’re going to get down on our knees and just be in awe of their business models and their ability to grow at a behemoth scale,” Bianco said.He said he’s not in favor of Wall Street’s popular trade into cyclicals and out of growth. He still favors growth.“We’re overweight equities really because we’re concerned about rising interest rates,” Bianco said. “I’m not bullish in that I expect the market to rise that much from here.”“We stuck with growth and dug deeper into bond substitutes, utilities, staples, real estate,” he said, adding he is underweight industrials, energy and materials. “Energy is doomed. It’s being nationalized via regulation. I do like industrials, they are well-run companies, but I do think infrastructure spending expectations for classic infrastructure are too high.”He also said industrials are good businesses, but the stocks have become overvalued.Bianco said he likes big box stores, but smaller retailers are facing big challenges that were already impacting them prior to Covid. He also finds small biotech firms attractive.“I like healthcare stocks. Those valuations are reasonable. People have been paranoid about politicians beating on them since 1992. They manage through it and lately they’ve been delivering,” he said.Week ahead calendarMondayEarnings:Tesla,Canadian National Railway, Canon,Check Point Software,Otis Worldwide, Vale,Ameriprise,NXP Semiconductor,Albertsons, Royal Phillips8:30 a.m. Durable goodsTuesdayFOMC begins two day meetingEarnings:Microsoft,Alphabet,Visa,Amgen,Advanced Micro Devices,3M,General Electric,Eli Lilly, Hasbro,United Parcel Service,BP,Novartis,JetBlue,Pultegroup,Archer Daniels Midland,Waste Management,Starbucks,Texas Instrument,Chubb,Mondelez,FireEye,Corning,Raytheon9:00 a.m. S&P/Case-Shiller9:00 a.m. FHFA home prices10:00 a.m. Consumer confidence10:00 a.m. Housing vacanciesWednesdayEarnings:Apple, Boeing,Facebook,Qualcomm,Ford,MGM Resorts,Humana,Norfolk Southern,General Dynamics,Boston Scientific, eBay, Samsung Electronics, GlaxoSmithKline,Yum Brands, SiriusXM, Aflac,Cheesecake Factory,Community Health System,CIT Group,Entergy,CME Group,Hess,Ryder System8:30 a.m. Advance economic indicators2:00 p.m. Fed statement2:30 p.m. Fed Chairman Jerome Powell briefingThursdayEarnings:Amazon,Caterpillar,McDonald’s,Twitter,Bristol-Myers Squibb,Comcast,Merck,Northrop Grumman, Airbus,Kraft Heinz,Intercontinental Exchange,Mastercard,Gilead Sciences,U.S. Steel, Cirrus Logic,Texas Roadhouse, Cabot Oil, PG&E,Royal Dutch Shell,Church & Dwight, Carlyle Group,Southern Co.8:30 a.m. Initial jobless claims8:30 a.m. Real GDP Q110:00 a.m. Pending home salesFridayEarnings:ExxonMobil,Chevron,Colgate-Palmolive,AstraZeneca,Clorox,Barclays, AbbVie, BNP Paribas,Weyerhaeuser,Illinois Tool Works, CBOE Global Markets, Lazard,Newell Brands,Aon,LyondellBasell,Pitney Bowes,Phillips 66,Charter Communications8:30 a.m. Personal income and spending8:30 a.m. Employment cost index Q19:45 a.m. Chicago PMI10:00 a.m. Consumer sentimentSaturdayEarnings:Berkshire Hathaway","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":793,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":373949056,"gmtCreate":1618815891275,"gmtModify":1618815891275,"author":{"id":"3556498218844440","authorId":"3556498218844440","name":"Damon_6050","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9aaf172f19c0e8d89da07599130e48a4","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3556498218844440","authorIdStr":"3556498218844440"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Comment ","listText":"Comment ","text":"Comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/373949056","repostId":"1129471770","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1129471770","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Stock Market Quotes, Business News, Financial News, Trading Ideas, and Stock Research by Professionals","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Benzinga","id":"1052270027","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d08bf7808052c0ca9deb4e944cae32aa"},"pubTimestamp":1618793935,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1129471770?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-04-19 08:58","market":"us","language":"en","title":"IPO Preview: UiPath Inc, KnowBe4, Zymergen, Latham Holdings Highlight Busy Week Of Offerings","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1129471770","media":"Benzinga","summary":"This week’s offerings don’t have quite the same high profile as last week's highly anticipated IPO o","content":"
This week’s offerings don’t have quite the same high profile as last week's highly anticipated IPO ofCoinbase GlobalCOIN 5.96%. The proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes. The conglomerate sold 430 billion yen (S$5.23 billion) of the securities in its inaugural deal in 2019, which was one of the largest sales by a foreign issuer in yen.

The US firm said in August that it had acquired stakes of about 5 per cent in Itochu, Marubeni, Mitsubishi, Mitsui & Co and Sumitomo. Mr Buffett, chairman and chief executive officer of Berkshire Hathaway, didn't make any major investment in 2020, but the company bought up its own stock and is sitting on US$138 billion of cash.

The company said last year that it planned to hold its Japanese trading house investments for the long term and that it could increase its holding in any of the five to as much as 9.9 per cent.

Berkshire Hathaway also plans to refinance US$1 billion of notes that matured on March 15 from the proposed yen debt offering, according to the deal terms.

Demand for corporate bonds in the yen market has been solid this year as the Bank of Japan's negative interest-rate policy has kept yields on company debt from rising much, despite volatility. The proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes. The conglomerate sold 430 billion yen (S$5.23 billion) of the securities in its inaugural deal in 2019, which was one of the largest sales by a foreign issuer in yen.The US firm said in August that it had acquired stakes of about 5 per cent in Itochu, Marubeni, Mitsubishi, Mitsui & Co and Sumitomo. Mr Buffett, chairman and chief executive officer of Berkshire Hathaway, didn't make any major investment in 2020, but the company bought up its own stock and is sitting on US$138 billion of cash. The company said last year that it planned to hold its Japanese trading house investments for the long term and that it could increase its holding in any of the five to as much as 9.9 per cent.Berkshire Hathaway also plans to refinance US$1 billion of notes that matured on March 15 from the proposed yen debt offering, according to the deal terms.Demand for corporate bonds in the yen market has been solid this year as the Bank of Japan's negative interest-rate policy has kept yields on company debt from rising much, despite volatility.
