Wood has excelled in each of these roles, and was named the best stock picker in 2020 by Bloomberg News. Last year, Ark's flagship ARK Innovation ETF trounced the greater market by posting a mind-boggling 148% return.
\n
A return to the mean was always likely, and ARK Innovation is slightly in the red year to date and down 20% from highs established in February. Investors have rotated to value stocks like banks and energy, and sold disruptive technology stocks Wood favors.
\n
However, that hasn't changed Wood's long-term focus, and she's doubled down on many names. Here are three growth stocks from her portfolio down 25% (or more) from their 52-week highs that are positioned for long-term success.
\n
Spotify's brilliant podcasting move will pay off
\n
Shares of Spotify (NYSE:SPOT) are down 38% from year-to-date highs, most recently due to sluggish monthly active user growth in the second quarter. Like many of the investments in Wood's portfolio, Spotify was considered a pandemic stock and benefited from the work-from-home shift -- shares doubled in 2020. Spotify stock might have taken a breather this year, but the financials point to continued success.
\n
Spotify is well on the way to eliminating its biggest weakness. The unit economics of the music industry are difficult and competitive, particularly among Spotify's 210 million ad-supported monthly active users (MAUs) as it competes against free radio and outlets like Apple Music. During the second quarter, it was weakness in MAU growth that sent shares tumbling.
\n
Despite slightly missing MAU figures, Spotify continues to be effective at converting users into more lucrative paying subscribers. The company reported a 20% year-over-year increase in subscribers last quarter, at the top end of management's expectations. This helped the company post $2.75 billion in revenue, higher than analyst expectations of $2.23 billion.
\n
Much of the growth can be credited to Spotify's recent moves into podcasting. Last year Spotify signed podcaster Joe Rogan to a massive $100 million contract and followed that up this year with a $60 million deal with Alexandra Cooper of \"Call Her Daddy.\"
\n
For Spotify, podcasting packs a one-two punch: In addition to boosting subscribers, the unit economics of podcasting are more favorable than music over the long term. There's no wonder the area is red-hot with both Apple and Netflix racing to build out their capability. In the short run, they're unlikely to compete with Spotify, and it's likely Cathie Wood knows that.
\n
Zillow Group could revolutionize the homebuying process
\n
Shares of real-estate-focused website Zillow Group (NASDAQ:ZG) (NASDAQ:Z) have been cut in half since February. That's a significant change in fortunes; the company advanced nearly 200% last year as the pandemic unpredictably boosted home sales and prices. The housing market is beginning to return to normal, as sales of new homes fell to a pandemic-era low in June.
\n
Despite the recent setback, Zillow remains primed for long-term growth by continuing to disrupt a trillion-dollar industry. In an era of e-commerce and on-demand transactions, the homebuying process is a relic of yesteryear. Homebuying is not only time-consuming, it's full of middlemen that can take as much as 10% of the transaction cost!
\n
Zillow started as a database but continues to move deeper into the transactional process by incorporating valuation, financing, and agent referral functionality. In 2019, the company took its most aggressive move to disrupt the market completely by launching Zillow Offers, an iBuying program through which the company transacts with homebuyers and sellers directly.
\n
The company has competition in the space from Redfin and Opendoor Technologies, but iBuying will not be a winner-take-all market, and Zillow's massive user database and history will allow the company to win significant share. iBuying could disrupt a trillion-dollar industry, and Zillow will be one of the major winners.
\n
Etsy's acquisitions position it for geographical and Gen Z success
\n
Etsy (NASDAQ:ETSY) shares are down 25% from 52-week highs established in March. Like Spotify, the most recent catalyst was second-quarter earnings. Although the company beat analyst expectations for revenue and earnings, analysts were concerned with slowing user growth and forward guidance.
\n
The company guided for third-quarter revenue of $513 million at the midpoint, lower than analyst forecasts of $528 million. Additionally, new buyer growth decelerated from last-year's pandemic mania, although habitual buyers (six or more purchase days and $200 in yearly spend) continue to grow at a rapid clip.
\n
There are reasons to be excited about Etsy's path forward due to its recent acquisitions. First, the company has acquired Depop, the Gen Z-friendly apparel resale app. This category is expected to double to nearly $80 billion by 2025.
\n
Additionally, the company acquired the \"Etsy of Brazil,\" Elo7. This gives Etsy a foothold in the Latin American e-commerce market that is expected to triple in value by 2025. But that’s not actually the case. In fact, advertising is gradually becoming a material contributor to the company’s revenue base.
\n
In a research note Tuesday, Bernstein analystToni Sacconaghidoes a deep dive into Apple’s ad business. While the company doesn’t talk about the business much andprovides little disclosure, Sacconaghi estimates that Apple will generate about $3 billion in ad revenue in the September 2021 fiscal year, up from about $300 million in fiscal 2017. He thinks the total could grow to the $7 billion-to-$10 billion-a-year range by fiscal 2023 or 2024, boosting growth in Apple’s services business as much as three percentage points.
\n
Sacconaghi notes that most of Apple’s ad business is centered on search ads in the App Store. He says growth drivers in the business include the June addition of search ads in China, higher ad loads, and the introduction of banner ads to the store in May. He also points out that Apple generates modest revenue today—likely under $500 million a year—from ads in the Apple News and Stocks apps.
\n
There are other opportunities—including Apple Maps and Apple TV. Sacconaghi estimates that Google generates about $4 billion in ad revenue a year from Maps, with a user base about four times the size, suggesting $1 billion a year in potential ad revenue. But that’s not actually the case. In fact, advertising is gradually becoming a material contributor to the company’s revenue base.\nIn a research note Tuesday, Bernstein analystToni Sacconaghidoes a deep dive into Apple’s ad business. While the company doesn’t talk about the business much andprovides little disclosure, Sacconaghi estimates that Apple will generate about $3 billion in ad revenue in the September 2021 fiscal year, up from about $300 million in fiscal 2017. He thinks the total could grow to the $7 billion-to-$10 billion-a-year range by fiscal 2023 or 2024, boosting growth in Apple’s services business as much as three percentage points.\nSacconaghi notes that most of Apple’s ad business is centered on search ads in the App Store. He says growth drivers in the business include the June addition of search ads in China, higher ad loads, and the introduction of banner ads to the store in May. He also points out that Apple generates modest revenue today—likely under $500 million a year—from ads in the Apple News and Stocks apps.\nThere are other opportunities—including Apple Maps and Apple TV. Sacconaghi estimates that Google generates about $4 billion in ad revenue a year from Maps, with a user base about four times the size, suggesting $1 billion a year in potential ad revenue. And he says that the streaming-device companyRoku (ROKU)provides “a helpful precedent” for how Apple can generate revenue from Apple TV hardware—where he sees another $1 billion-plus opportunity.\nThe analyst adds that Apple could place ads on other properties—like Apple Fitness+ and Garage Band—but that the adoption of advertising in applications like Apple Mail, Apple TV+, or Apple’s home screens likely would “irk consumers and undermine Apple’s strongly avowed stance on privacy.”\nMeanwhile, Sacconaghi says, Apple’s position on Identifier for Advertisers, or IDFA, offers the company some competitive advantages. “While we believe that Apple’s move to eliminate IDFA was done in the spirit of advancing consumer privacy, it may ultimately provide Apple with an advertising platform that is competitively advantaged vs. peers who don’t have access to Apple’s richer APIs,” he writes.\nThe analyst notes thatAmazon.com‘s (AMZN) ad business was similar in size to Apple’s in 2017—and now has a run rate north of $25 billion and is a substantial part of the investment thesis on the stock. “Along similar lines, a large and growing advertising business could help Apple accelerate its overall Services growth rate, which would likely be viewed positively by investors,” he concludes.\nApple shares were up 0.1%, at $145.72, in recent trading. It’s one of two “yellow warning lights” he sees, with the second being the way high-yield spreads have become “stickier” at higher levels.
\n
“August has a history of volatility spikes, more so than one might think,” Purves wrote in a note dated on Sunday. “This rising tension is subtle, and we suggest it has more to do with Covid persistence than with earnings reports, which on the whole have been remarkably strong so far.”
\n

\n
It isn’t just the VIX that’s flashing concern. S&P 500 skew, which measures the cost of bearish options versus bullish ones, is at its highest level since the beginning of the pandemic a year and a half ago -- even as the S&P 500 soars to records. While the VIX/S&P 500 inverse correlation remains relatively stable, and the VIX itself closed last week below historical averages, there’s still plenty of nervousness about. Investors may need to be wary for the sort of oddball “stocks-up, vol-up” scenario that manifested in the lead-up to February 2018’s Volmageddon, or last August’s retail-investor-driven tech rally.
\n
August and September are the worst months by average S&P 500 performance over the previous 30 years, Susquehanna derivatives strategists pointed out in a recent note.
\n
Other volatility signals have also been showing higher lows in the past few weeks, including the ICE BofA MOVE Index, which measures Treasury-option swings, and the JPMorgan Global FX Volatility Index.
\n
“There is worry but we are nowhere near peak worry,” said RBC’s Amy Wu Silverman. It’s one of two “yellow warning lights” he sees, with the second being the way high-yield spreads have become “stickier” at higher levels.\n“August has a history of volatility spikes, more so than one might think,” Purves wrote in a note dated on Sunday. “This rising tension is subtle, and we suggest it has more to do with Covid persistence than with earnings reports, which on the whole have been remarkably strong so far.”\n\nIt isn’t just the VIX that’s flashing concern. Investors may need to be wary for the sort of oddball “stocks-up, vol-up” scenario that manifested in the lead-up to February 2018’s Volmageddon, or last August’s retail-investor-driven tech rally.\nAugust and September are the worst months by average S&P 500 performance over the previous 30 years, Susquehanna derivatives strategists pointed out in a recent note.\nOther volatility signals have also been showing higher lows in the past few weeks, including the ICE BofA MOVE Index, which measures Treasury-option swings, and the JPMorgan Global FX Volatility Index.\n“There is worry but we are nowhere near peak worry,” said RBC’s Amy Wu Silverman. She pointed to bearish put options on the SPDR S&P Retail ETF (ticker XRT) looking expensive versus those on other ETFs, and suggested that’s “due to the delta variant and back-to-school sensitivity.”\nNeither Silverman nor Purves sees hedging the S&P 500 as the way to go right now, though, because it’s relatively expensive to do so. Silverman suggests selling Amazon.com Inc. October $3,100 puts as a hedge against further surges in the delta-variant. According tothe NYT,the mayor plans to announced that NYC will require proof of vaccination for people participating in a range of indoor activities, from indoor dining to going to the gyms and performances on Broadway and elsewhere. The mayor's plan is \"his latest attempt to spur more vaccinations\", the NYT said, as the city's adult vaccination rate hovers at just 66%.
\n
To facilitate this, NYC will be creating its own vaccine passport. Notably, the unvaccinated will still be allowed to dine outdoors.
\n
\n As part of the new program, New York City will create a health pass called the “Key to NYC Pass” to provide proof of vaccination required for workers and customers at indoor dining, gyms, entertainment and performances.\n
\n
This measure is similar to a policy imposed in France by President Emmanuel Macron his health advisors. The NYT said the policy allegedly inspired millions in France to book vaccination appointments.
\n
\n In France, people will soon have to show a health pass — providing proof of vaccination or a recent negative test — to visit indoor bars, restaurants and gyms. It has already been implemented at amusement parks, theaters and venues hosting more than 50 people. In New York City, proof of vaccination will be required and there will be no testing option. The restrictions in France prompted millions of people to book vaccine appointments and also sparked a series of protests among people who said it infringed on their personal liberties.\n
\n
The program will start later this month after a transition period, will take full effect in mid-September when schools are expected to reopen and more workers could start returning to offices. So, anybody who wants to work out in NYC gyms will need to be vaccinated. Notably, Equinox and SoulCycle, two of the more popular upscale gym chains operating in the city, said earlier this week that they would require proof of vaccination.
\n
Per the NYT, \"the policy is similar to mandates issued in France and Italy last month and is believed to be the first of its kind in the United States.\"
\n
Some critics, including Donald Trump Jr., slammed the policy as creating a two-tiered society.
\n
\n Democrats and the media want a two-tiered society where millions of law-abiding Americans are segregated and discriminated against.\n
\n
\n This is what actual fascism looks like!!!https://t.co/lhAst4sGtW— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr)August 3, 2021\n
\n
We wonder how differently this effort would be perceived if the headline was\"De Blasio Orders Restaurants to Deny Access To 1 In 7 Black New Yorkers\"
\n

\n
Mayor de Blasio has been reluctant to reinstate mandatory masking despite the criticism, though he did \"encourage\" New Yorkers to wear masks. It looks like this decision to \"double down\" on the vaccine first approach is an attempt to one-up the mayor's critics. And as the NY Post points out, the mayor might be on to something: As the NYP explains, \"requiring even the vaxxed to mask up eliminates a major incentive to get jabbed in the first place, and increasing vax rates is the best way to keep COVID from doing deeper damage.\"
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; According tothe NYT,the mayor plans to announced that NYC will require proof of vaccination for people participating in a range of indoor activities, from indoor dining to going to the gyms and performances on Broadway and elsewhere. The mayor's plan is \"his latest attempt to spur more vaccinations\", the NYT said, as the city's adult vaccination rate hovers at just 66%.\nTo facilitate this, NYC will be creating its own vaccine passport. Notably, the unvaccinated will still be allowed to dine outdoors.\n\n As part of the new program, New York City will create a health pass called the “Key to NYC Pass” to provide proof of vaccination required for workers and customers at indoor dining, gyms, entertainment and performances.\n\nThis measure is similar to a policy imposed in France by President Emmanuel Macron his health advisors. The NYT said the policy allegedly inspired millions in France to book vaccination appointments.\n\n In France, people will soon have to show a health pass — providing proof of vaccination or a recent negative test — to visit indoor bars, restaurants and gyms. It has already been implemented at amusement parks, theaters and venues hosting more than 50 people. In New York City, proof of vaccination will be required and there will be no testing option. The restrictions in France prompted millions of people to book vaccine appointments and also sparked a series of protests among people who said it infringed on their personal liberties.\n\nThe program will start later this month after a transition period, will take full effect in mid-September when schools are expected to reopen and more workers could start returning to offices. So, anybody who wants to work out in NYC gyms will need to be vaccinated. Notably, Equinox and SoulCycle, two of the more popular upscale gym chains operating in the city, said earlier this week that they would require proof of vaccination.\nPer the NYT, \"the policy is similar to mandates issued in France and Italy last month and is believed to be the first of its kind in the United States.\"\nSome critics, including Donald Trump Jr., slammed the policy as creating a two-tiered society.\n\n Democrats and the media want a two-tiered society where millions of law-abiding Americans are segregated and discriminated against.\n\n\n This is what actual fascism looks like!!!https://t.co/lhAst4sGtW— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr)August 3, 2021\n\nWe wonder how differently this effort would be perceived if the headline was\"De Blasio Orders Restaurants to Deny Access To 1 In 7 Black New Yorkers\"\n\nMayor de Blasio has been reluctant to reinstate mandatory masking despite the criticism, though he did \"encourage\" New Yorkers to wear masks. It looks like this decision to \"double down\" on the vaccine first approach is an attempt to one-up the mayor's critics. And as the NY Post points out, the mayor might be on to something: As the NYP explains, \"requiring even the vaxxed to mask up eliminates a major incentive to get jabbed in the first place, and increasing vax rates is the best way to keep COVID from doing deeper damage.\"","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":249,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":804385114,"gmtCreate":1627923978338,"gmtModify":1633755210983,"author":{"id":"3555177631650887","authorId":"3555177631650887","name":"SOAH","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8feb49f73dd281512da3cbe29d6a090f","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3555177631650887","authorIdStr":"3555177631650887"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Great","listText":"Great","text":"Great","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/804385114","repostId":"1191539307","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1191539307","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1627889804,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1191539307?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-08-02 15:36","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Volatility Warnings Signal Virus May Bring Another Rough August","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1191539307","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"Tallbacken sees cause for concern in VIX making higher lows\nRBC suggests Amazon put options as delta","content":"
\n
Tallbacken sees cause for concern in VIX making higher lows
\n
RBC suggests Amazon put options as delta-variant hedge
\n
\n
Concerns about the delta variant of Covid-19 look to be seeping into volatility markets just as the traditionally challenging month of August kicks off.
\n
The Cboe Volatility Index, or VIX, has made a series of higher lows in recent weeks, a pattern Tallbacken Capital Advisors LLC Chief Executive Officer Michael Purves says should concern investors. It is now offering products that deliver more bang for their buck to existing customers, allowing it to increase average selling prices (ASPs) and bring new customers into the fold. As such, Nvidia can repeat -- or improve upon -- its terrific stock market performance once again in the coming years.
\n
Let's look at the reasons why.
\n
Nvidia's outstanding growth can last for a long time
\n
Nvidia's dominance of the GPU (graphics processing unit) market has accelerated its revenue and earnings growth over the years. In fiscal 2016, the company had reported just $5 billion in annual revenue and $929 million in adjusted net income. In fiscal 2021, which ended in January this year, Nvidia's annual revenue had ballooned to $16.7 billion and adjusted net income had jumped to $6.2 billion.
\n
This translates into a compound annual revenue growth rate of 27% over the five-year period, while the non-GAAP net income grew 46% per year. Of late, Nvidia has been outpacing its historical growth. Its revenue for the first quarter of fiscal 2022 surged 84% year over year to $5.66 billion, while adjusted net income was up 107% to $2.3 billion.
\n
Analysts forecast that Nvidia's surge will continue this fiscal year, with revenue expected to jump 49% over last year and earnings per share anticipated to increase to the tune of 58%. I think that Nvidia can sustain its outstanding growth beyond this year because of a few simple reasons.
\n
First, Nvidia controls 80% of the discrete GPU market, according to Jon Peddie Research. The discrete GPU market is expected to generate $54 billion in annual revenue by 2025 as compared to $23.6 billion last year. Nvidia's market share puts it in pole position to corner a major chunk of the additional revenue opportunity, and it is unlikely to yield ground to smaller rival Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD) because of its technological advantage.
\n
According to a survey by game distribution service Steam, Nvidia's flagship RTX 3090 card is outselling AMD's latest RX 6000 series cards by a ratio of 11:1. What's surprising is that the RTX 3090 is outperforming AMD's entire lineup despite its high starting price of $1,499, which makes it significantly more expensive than AMD's flagship RX 6900 XT that starts at $999.
\n
The reason why this may be the case is that Nvidia's latest RTX 30 series cards outperform AMD's offerings as per independent benchmarks and are also priced competitively. For instance, the RTX 3080 that starts at $699 reportedly outperforms the pricier RX 6900 XT. Meanwhile, Nvidia takes a substantial lead when it comes to identically priced offerings. The RTX 3070 Ti that starts at $599 is reportedly 21% faster than AMD's RX 6800 that starts at $579, indicating that Nvidia offers more bang for the buck.
\n
As a result, Nvidia is commanding a higher price from customers for its RTX 30 series cards. The average selling price of Nvidia's RTX 30 series cards hit $360 in the first six months of their launch, up 20% from the previous generation Turing cards.
\n
With the gaming business producing 49% of Nvidia's total revenue in Q1, the bright prospects of this segment will play a critical role in helping the company deliver solid upside to investors in the future. This, however, isn't the only catalyst to look out for.
\n
Two more reasons to go long
\n
While Nvidia's gaming business will provide the base for its long-term growth, its data center and automotive businesses will bring additional catalysts into play.
\n
The data center segment, for instance, generated just $339 million in revenue in fiscal 2016. The segment's fiscal 2021 revenue jumped to $6.7 billion and accounted for 40% of the total revenue. Nvidia investors can expect the data center business to keep booming as the company is attacking a substantial opportunity in this space through multiple chip platforms.
\n
Nvidia's data center GPUs are already a hit among major cloud service providers thanks to their ability to tackle artificial intelligence and machine learning workloads. The company is now doubling down on new opportunities such as data processing units (DPUs) and CPUs (central processing units), strengthening its position in the data center accelerator space.
\n
According to a third-party estimate, the data center accelerator market was worth $4.2 billion last year. That number is expected to jump to $53 billion by 2025, opening another huge opportunity for the chipmaker. And finally, the automotive segment is expected to turn into another happy hunting ground for Nvidia.
\n
The company generated just $536 million in revenue from the automotive segment last year. However, Nvidia says that it has built an automotive design win pipeline worth over $8 billion through fiscal 2027, partnering with several well-known OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Hyundai, Volvo, Navistar, and others. So, Nvidia's automotive business seems ready to step on the gas.
\n
In the end, it can be said that Nvidia now has bigger growth drivers compared to 2016. More importantly, it is in a strong position to tap into the multibillion-dollar end-market opportunities, making it a top growth stock investors can comfortably buy and hold for at least the next five years.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Nvidia Has Turned $10,000 Into $250,000. The RTX 3070 Ti that starts at $599 is reportedly 21% faster than AMD's RX 6800 that starts at $579, indicating that Nvidia offers more bang for the buck.\nAs a result, Nvidia is commanding a higher price from customers for its RTX 30 series cards. The average selling price of Nvidia's RTX 30 series cards hit $360 in the first six months of their launch, up 20% from the previous generation Turing cards.\nWith the gaming business producing 49% of Nvidia's total revenue in Q1, the bright prospects of this segment will play a critical role in helping the company deliver solid upside to investors in the future. This, however, isn't the only catalyst to look out for.\nTwo more reasons to go long\nWhile Nvidia's gaming business will provide the base for its long-term growth, its data center and automotive businesses will bring additional catalysts into play.\nThe data center segment, for instance, generated just $339 million in revenue in fiscal 2016. The segment's fiscal 2021 revenue jumped to $6.7 billion and accounted for 40% of the total revenue. Nvidia investors can expect the data center business to keep booming as the company is attacking a substantial opportunity in this space through multiple chip platforms.\nNvidia's data center GPUs are already a hit among major cloud service providers thanks to their ability to tackle artificial intelligence and machine learning workloads. The company is now doubling down on new opportunities such as data processing units (DPUs) and CPUs (central processing units), strengthening its position in the data center accelerator space.\nAccording to a third-party estimate, the data center accelerator market was worth $4.2 billion last year. That number is expected to jump to $53 billion by 2025, opening another huge opportunity for the chipmaker. And finally, the automotive segment is expected to turn into another happy hunting ground for Nvidia.\nThe company generated just $536 million in revenue from the automotive segment last year. However, Nvidia says that it has built an automotive design win pipeline worth over $8 billion through fiscal 2027, partnering with several well-known OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Hyundai, Volvo, Navistar, and others. So, Nvidia's automotive business seems ready to step on the gas.\nIn the end, it can be said that Nvidia now has bigger growth drivers compared to 2016. More importantly, it is in a strong position to tap into the multibillion-dollar end-market opportunities, making it a top growth stock investors can comfortably buy and hold for at least the next five years.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":305,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":896727512,"gmtCreate":1628606602436,"gmtModify":1633745768095,"author":{"id":"3555177631650887","authorId":"3555177631650887","name":"SOAH","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8feb49f73dd281512da3cbe29d6a090f","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3555177631650887","authorIdStr":"3555177631650887"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Tdoc","listText":"Tdoc","text":"Tdoc","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/896727512","repostId":"2158765304","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2158765304","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1628593320,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2158765304?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-08-10 19:02","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Cathie Wood Tech Stocks Down 25% That I'd Still Buy","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2158765304","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"These three ARK Invest holdings are down 30% but have appealing long-term prospects.","content":"
As the founder, CEO, and lead portfolio manager for ARK Invest, Cathie Wood is one busy person.
And he says that the streaming-device companyRoku (ROKU)provides “a helpful precedent” for how Apple can generate revenue from Apple TV hardware—where he sees another $1 billion-plus opportunity.
\n
The analyst adds that Apple could place ads on other properties—like Apple Fitness+ and Garage Band—but that the adoption of advertising in applications like Apple Mail, Apple TV+, or Apple’s home screens likely would “irk consumers and undermine Apple’s strongly avowed stance on privacy.”
\n
Meanwhile, Sacconaghi says, Apple’s position on Identifier for Advertisers, or IDFA, offers the company some competitive advantages. “While we believe that Apple’s move to eliminate IDFA was done in the spirit of advancing consumer privacy, it may ultimately provide Apple with an advertising platform that is competitively advantaged vs. peers who don’t have access to Apple’s richer APIs,” he writes.
\n
The analyst notes thatAmazon.com‘s (AMZN) ad business was similar in size to Apple’s in 2017—and now has a run rate north of $25 billion and is a substantial part of the investment thesis on the stock. “Along similar lines, a large and growing advertising business could help Apple accelerate its overall Services growth rate, which would likely be viewed positively by investors,” he concludes.
\n
Apple shares were up 0.1%, at $145.72, in recent trading.
