& Johnson has agreed to a $230 million settlement with New York state that bars the company from promoting opioids and confirmed it has ended distribution of such products within the United States.\nNew York Attorney General Letitia James' office in a statement Saturday said the agreement bans J&J from promoting opioids through any means and prohibits lobbying about such products at the federal, state or local levels.\nJohnson & Johnson has not marketed opioids in the U.S. since 2015 and fully discontinued the business in 2020.\nAs part of the settlement, the company will resolve Priced at $149,990, it was to feature a range of 520 miles, thanks to its innovative 4680 battery cells, 1,100 horsepower and the ability to speed from 0 to 60 mph in less than two seconds.
\n
Instead, the company has begun delivering a new Model S Plaid that has only a 390-mile range and 1,020 horsepower, though it still sprints to from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just two seconds.
\n
As a way to “sugar coat” its flip flop, Tesla said the Model S Plaid is just as fast as the Model S Plaid Plus and $20,000 cheaper. Humm.
\n
This “bait and switch” has some Tesla fans worried, since they had deposits on the Model S Plaid Plus and wanted the innovative 4680 battery cells that Tesla had been touting as the key to longer range and more power. Essentially, the 4680 battery cells were the latest great Tesla development, since they were the first batteries to also be a structural component that supposedly allowed Tesla to lower the weight of its vehicles.
\n
Both the company’s Austin and Berlin manufacturing plants now under construction are supposed to also be making the 4680 batteries for new Tesla vehicles. If there is a problem with the engineering associated with utilizing the 4680 batteries or making them a structural component, then Tesla has grossly miscalculated, which is now worrying investors.
\n
Clearly something happened to delay the 4680 batteries that were supposed to provide Tesla with a competitive and engineering edge. For Tesla’s sake, I hope they figure out the problems associated with their much hyped 4680 battery cells, otherwise concerns about its two new manufacturing plants will emerge, as well as the stock losing more of its “mojo.”
\n
As someone who owns more than a few high-performance vehicles, I can tell you that the engineering geeks I know donotwant to get a new Model S Plaid instead of a Model S Plaid Plus and will likely ask for their deposits back.
\n
What Tesla did is like Ferrari or Porsche telling its customers that one of their much-hyped new performance models is now not being sold because the base model was just as good! Car fanatics, like myself, like the latest and greatest engineering tidbits, so we would rather cancel our orders versus settle for a base model.
\n
The good news for Tesla is that its China sales in May resurged to 21,936, up sharply from 11,671 in April. The company’s sales tend to spike at the end of each quarter. For example, Tesla sold 35,478 vehicles in China in March, which was the strongest month ever in China.
\n
This is raising expectations for very strong China sales in June, especially now that the Model Y is being manufactured in Shanghai. Interestingly, since most Chinese Teslas are now made with iron phosphate batteries, these vehicles have lower range than its lithium cobalt vehicles, but its iron phosphate vehicles are cheaper and now increasingly being exported to Europe.
\n
However, I’m convinced another electric vehicle (EV) company will eventually displace Tesla as the biggest manufacturer of EVs in China.
\n
Taking Advantage of the EV Revolution’s Profit Potential
\n
I’m talking about Nio, Inc.(NYSE:NIO). The reality is that this company is on the verge of dominating the EV market in China and Hong Kong. It’s why I put NIO on myPlatinum Growth ClubModel Portfolio back in February.
\n
The company boasts that it is the “next-generation car company,” as it designs and manufactures electric vehicles that utilize the latest technologies in connectivity, autonomous driving and artificial intelligence (AI). NIO currently offers an electric seven-seater SUV (ES8) and a five-seater electric SUV (ES6) and recently introduced an attractive electric sedan (ET7). Its vehicles utilize NOMI, an in-vehicle artificial intelligence assistant.
\n
The company is also partnering with cutting-edge chip companies likeNVIDIA Corporation(NASDAQ:NVDA), another one of myPlatinum Growth ClubModel Portfolio stocks. NIO plans to use the NVIDIA DRIVE Orin system-on-a-chip for its electric vehicles that will provide autonomous driving capabilities. The NVIDIA DRIVE Orin-powered supercomputer, which is being called Adam, will be launched in the ET7 sedan in China in 2022. Announcements like this are very positive, so NIO has been stealing some of Tesla’s thunder lately.
\n
Now, it’s important to note that NIO was bailed out by the Chinese government. Last year, the Chinese government injected $1 billion and now has a 24% ownership in the company. The reality is that China wants to dominate at least five major industries by 2025, and NIO is now its ticket to dominate EV manufacturing.
\n
With the backing of the Chinese government, some Wall Street firms are eager to help NIO by issuing new debt or equity. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if NIO surpasses Tesla, which is currently number-two in China, for market share in the upcoming years.
\n
That means, if you missed Tesla’s parabolic run like I did, NIO is essentially giving us a “second chance” to make money in a potentially explosive electric vehicle company.
\n
Shares of NIO climbed nearly 13% since the company’s June 4 announcement of its May delivery report and positive analyst comments, while Tesla shares rose almost 3%. First, NIO revealed that the global chip shortage is starting to take a toll on its business. NIO only delivered 6,711 vehicles in May, or a 5.5% decline from April’s deliveries. Company management noted that deliveries were “adversely impacted for several days due to the volatility of semiconductor supply and certain logistical adjustments.”
\n
Interestingly, despite the month-to-month dip, NIO’s deliveries were still up 95.3% year-over-year. Earlier this month, coal miner Peabody Energy Corp.,offshore drilling contractor Transocean Ltd.and retailer Express Inc.,all announced plans to sell stock, betting equity markets will support them despite heavy debt loads, recent losses and industry headwinds.
\n
Selling stock isn’t the typical way for distressed companies to grab a lifeline. More often, they are forced to seek out rescue loans, sell off assets or pursue a merger, which can be difficult because of their existing debt.
\n
But equity markets now are more open to supporting troubled issuers, in large part because of risk-hungry individual investors eager to speculate, according to bankers and investors following the trend.
\n
The planned equity sales, if successful, mark another way nonprofessional investors have reshaped financial markets since they began to demonstrate their collective power last year, creating opportunitiesfor finance executives in the process.
\n
“It’s a new phenomenon for some of these distressed companies,” said Scott Hartman, partner and co-head of corporate and traded credit at asset manager Värde Partners. “If I were in their seat, it makes a lot of sense to take equity capital when they can.”
\n
Peabody,Transoceanand Express are seeking to replicate—on a smaller scale—the capital-raising success of AMC, a favorite pick of individual investors who gather in online investing forums such as Reddit’s WallStreetBets.
\n
AMC raised $2.2 billionthrough several stock salesduring the pandemic, largely to an enthusiastic following of day traders, despite warnings it was at risk of bankruptcy.
\n
It is difficult to classify even a highly leveraged company as distressed when its access to equity is “seemingly infinite,” said Andy Moore, chief executive of B. Riley Securities Inc. His firm is acting as sales agent for Peabody, which earlier this month kicked off an effort to sell up to 12.5 million shares through an “at-the-market” offering. In such offerings, companies sell shares bit-by-bit at market prices in a manner that is accessible to individual investors as well as institutional ones.
\n
Since exiting bankruptcy in 2017, Peabody has faced difficulties as utilities rely less on coal, and it restructured debt in February to avert a default. The company’s bonds trade at discounts of between 69 and 78 cents on the dollar, indicating market doubts they will be fully repaid. It reported an $80 million net loss in the first quarter amid continued weak conditions for the coal industry.
\n
Express, the apparel retailer, borrowed money from private-equity firm Sycamore Partners in January to stockpile cash for surviving the pandemic. Then the company launched an ATM stock sale earlier this month, aiming to sell up to 15 million new shares, despite reporting a loss of $405 million for the last fiscal year as a result of the pandemic and its impact on shopping.
\n
On Tuesday, offshore drillerTransoceanjoined in with an offering of up to $400 million in shares despite a junk credit rating, more than $7 billion in debt, andongoing creditor litigationover its restructuring efforts last year.
\n
Peabody and Express didn’t respond to requests for comment. Transocean referred inquiries to its securities filings.
\n
Jamie Zimmerman, founder and CEO of hedge-fund manager Litespeed Management LLC, said that some troubled companies may be unable to raise new debt, and selling stock may be their only path to obtain financing.
\n
“You don’t get unless you ask,” said Dan Zwirn, founder and chief executive of asset manager Arena Investors LP. “If I’m structurally insolvent and can’t refinance myself into extending the life of the enterprise, I might as well take this shot.”
\n
“With this infusion of retail people, there are more counterparties for such a transaction,” Mr. Zwirn added.
\n
Inflows of capital from individual investors, some using money from federal stimulus funds to open trading accounts, have buoyed the broader stock market, driving gains of more than10% year-to-datefor the Dow Jones Industrial Average and Nasdaq Composite Index.
\n
Individual investors’ share of overall U.S. equities trading volume rose last year to roughly double what it was a decade before andcontinues to grow. At times, their bets on beaten-down stocks havebeat out institutional investors.
\n
Howard Fischer, a securities lawyer with Moses & Singer LLP, said that the underlying economic health now seems less important than the unbridled enthusiasm of individual investors, even if that enthusiasm is divorced from any rational economic analysis.
\n
Hertz Global Holdings Inc.tried to ride a wave of interest from retail traders to finance itself last year while it was under bankruptcy protection, and ended up scrapping the effort under pressure from the Securities and Exchange Commission.
\n
The bullish individual investors who bet on the business shortly after it filed for chapter 11 were vindicated when Hertz found buyers agreeing to pay up to $8 a share in value.
\n
Adi Habbu, a director on the credit trading desk atBarclays PLC,said widespread bullishness in equity markets goes beyond retail traders, and is fueled by the economic recovery and the easing of pandemic restrictions.
\n
“It’s certainly not a bad time to try,” he said. “The core trend is that there is positive reopening sentiment that is driven not just by retail but by institutional players as well.”
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Earlier this month, coal miner Peabody Energy Corp.,offshore drilling contractor Transocean Ltd.and retailer Express Inc.,all announced plans to sell stock, betting equity markets will support them despite heavy debt loads, recent losses and industry headwinds.\nSelling stock isn’t the typical way for distressed companies to grab a lifeline. More often, they are forced to seek out rescue loans, sell off assets or pursue a merger, which can be difficult because of their existing debt.\nBut equity markets now are more open to supporting troubled issuers, in large part because of risk-hungry individual investors eager to speculate, according to bankers and investors following the trend.\nThe planned equity sales, if successful, mark another way nonprofessional investors have reshaped financial markets since they began to demonstrate their collective power last year, creating opportunitiesfor finance executives in the process.\n“It’s a new phenomenon for some of these distressed companies,” said Scott Hartman, partner and co-head of corporate and traded credit at asset manager Värde Partners. “If I were in their seat, it makes a lot of sense to take equity capital when they can.”\nPeabody,Transoceanand Express are seeking to replicate—on a smaller scale—the capital-raising success of AMC, a favorite pick of individual investors who gather in online investing forums such as Reddit’s WallStreetBets.\nAMC raised $2.2 billionthrough several stock salesduring the pandemic, largely to an enthusiastic following of day traders, despite warnings it was at risk of bankruptcy.\nIt is difficult to classify even a highly leveraged company as distressed when its access to equity is “seemingly infinite,” said Andy Moore, chief executive of B. Riley Securities Inc. His firm is acting as sales agent for Peabody, which earlier this month kicked off an effort to sell up to 12.5 million shares through an “at-the-market” offering. In such offerings, companies sell shares bit-by-bit at market prices in a manner that is accessible to individual investors as well as institutional ones.\nSince exiting bankruptcy in 2017, Peabody has faced difficulties as utilities rely less on coal, and it restructured debt in February to avert a default. The company’s bonds trade at discounts of between 69 and 78 cents on the dollar, indicating market doubts they will be fully repaid. It reported an $80 million net loss in the first quarter amid continued weak conditions for the coal industry.\nExpress, the apparel retailer, borrowed money from private-equity firm Sycamore Partners in January to stockpile cash for surviving the pandemic. Then the company launched an ATM stock sale earlier this month, aiming to sell up to 15 million new shares, despite reporting a loss of $405 million for the last fiscal year as a result of the pandemic and its impact on shopping.\nOn Tuesday, offshore drillerTransoceanjoined in with an offering of up to $400 million in shares despite a junk credit rating, more than $7 billion in debt, andongoing creditor litigationover its restructuring efforts last year.\nPeabody and Express didn’t respond to requests for comment. Transocean referred inquiries to its securities filings.\nJamie Zimmerman, founder and CEO of hedge-fund manager Litespeed Management LLC, said that some troubled companies may be unable to raise new debt, and selling stock may be their only path to obtain financing.\n“You don’t get unless you ask,” said Dan Zwirn, founder and chief executive of asset manager Arena Investors LP. “If I’m structurally insolvent and can’t refinance myself into extending the life of the enterprise, I might as well take this shot.”\n“With this infusion of retail people, there are more counterparties for such a transaction,” Mr. Zwirn added.\nInflows of capital from individual investors, some using money from federal stimulus funds to open trading accounts, have buoyed the broader stock market, driving gains of more than10% year-to-datefor the Dow Jones Industrial Average and Nasdaq Composite Index.\nIndividual investors’ share of overall U.S. equities trading volume rose last year to roughly double what it was a decade before andcontinues to grow. At times, their bets on beaten-down stocks havebeat out institutional investors.\nHoward Fischer, a securities lawyer with Moses & Singer LLP, said that the underlying economic health now seems less important than the unbridled enthusiasm of individual investors, even if that enthusiasm is divorced from any rational economic analysis.\nHertz Global Holdings Inc.tried to ride a wave of interest from retail traders to finance itself last year while it was under bankruptcy protection, and ended up scrapping the effort under pressure from the Securities and Exchange Commission.\nThe bullish individual investors who bet on the business shortly after it filed for chapter 11 were vindicated when Hertz found buyers agreeing to pay up to $8 a share in value.\nAdi Habbu, a director on the credit trading desk atBarclays PLC,said widespread bullishness in equity markets goes beyond retail traders, and is fueled by the economic recovery and the easing of pandemic restrictions.\n“It’s certainly not a bad time to try,” he said. “The core trend is that there is positive reopening sentiment that is driven not just by retail but by institutional players as well.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":264,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":163344679,"gmtCreate":1623860628991,"gmtModify":1631885194151,"author":{"id":"3554281144270981","authorId":"3554281144270981","name":"Vic12","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3554281144270981","idStr":"3554281144270981"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Gogo","listText":"Gogo","text":"Gogo","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/163344679","repostId":"2143797877","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2143797877","pubTimestamp":1623856200,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2143797877?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-16 slowe","content":"
MELBOURNE, June 29 (Reuters) - Oil prices slipped for a second day on Tuesday on worries about slower fuel demand growth as outbreaks of the highly contagious COVID-19 variant Delta sparked new mobility restrictions around the world.
\n
U.S. West Texas Intermediate $(WTI)$ crude futures fell 14 cents, or 0.2%, to $72.77 a barrel at 0045 GMT, extending a 1.5% loss on Monday.
\n
Brent crude futures dipped 10 cents, or 0.1%, to $74.58 a barrel, after sliding 2% on Monday.
\n
The flare-up in cases of the Delta variant comes as the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Russia and allies, together known as OPEC+, are set to meet on July 1 to discuss easing their supply curbs.
\n
OPEC's demand forecasts show that in the fourth quarter global oil supply will fall short of demand by 2.2 million barrels per day (bpd), giving the producers some room to agree to add output.
\n
\"Oil prices fell on concerns that OPEC+ will decide to meaningfully boost output later this week just as the Delta variant of the coronavirus spreads,\" Commonwealth Bank commodities analyst Vivek Dhar said in a note.
\n
Spain and Portugal, favourite summer holiday destinations for Europeans, imposed new restrictions on unvaccinated Britons on Monday, while 80% of Australians faced tighter curbs due to flare-ups of the virus across the country.
\n
Talks on a travel corridor between the United States and Britain also slowed, partly on concerns about a rise in cases of the Delta variant in Britain, the Financial Times reported, citing officials.
\n
Analysts expect OPEC+ to step up supply by about 500,000 bpd in August, as the market has tightened on strong growth in fuel demand in the United States and China, the world's two biggest oil consumers.
\n
Investors will be looking to the latest U.S. inventory data to reinforce that view, with analysts expecting crude stocks to extend their fall for a sixth straight week, while gasoline stocks also declined, a preliminary Reuters poll showed.
\n
Seven analysts estimated, on average, that U.S. crude stocks fell by about 4.5 million barrels in the week to June 25, in a poll conducted ahead of reports from the American Petroleum Institute, an industry group, on Tuesday and the Energy Information Administration <a & Johnson has agreed to a $230 million settlement with New York state that bars the company from promoting opioids and confirmed it has ended distribution of such products within the United States.\nNew York Attorney General Letitia James' office in a statement Saturday said the agreement bans J&J from promoting opioids through any means and prohibits lobbying about such products at the federal, state or local levels.\nJohnson & Johnson has not marketed opioids in the U.S. since 2015 and fully discontinued the business in 2020.\nAs part of the settlement, the company will resolve opioids-related claims and allocate payments over nine years. It could also pay $30 million more in the first year if the state executive chamber signs into law new legislation creating an opioid settlement fund, according to the press release from James’ office.\nThe settlement follows years of lawsuits by states, cities and counties against major pharmaceutical companies over the opioid crisis, which haskilled nearly 500,000 peoplein the U.S. in the last couple decades.\nGovernments have argued that companies over-prescribed the drugs, causing people to become addicted and abuse other illegal forms of opioids, while companies have said they’ve distributed the necessary amount of the product to help people with medical issues.\n“The opioid epidemic has wreaked havoc on countless communities across New York state and the rest of the nation, leaving millions still addicted to dangerous and deadly opioids,” James said in a statement.\n“Johnson & Johnson helped fuel this fire, but today they’re committing to leaving the opioid business — not only in New York, but across the entire country,” she said. “Opioids will no longer be manufactured or sold in the United States by J&J.”\nThe New York opioid lawsuit trial against the rest of the defendants will begin this week, according to the release. Other defendants in the New York suit include Purdue Pharma; Mallinckrodt LLC; Endo Health Solutions; Teva Pharmaceuticals USA; and Allergan Finance LLC.\nIn a statement Saturday, Johnson & Johnson said the settlement “is not an admission of liability or wrongdoing by the company” and is “consistent with the terms of the previously announced $5 billion all-in settlement agreement in principle for the resolution of opioid lawsuits and claims by states, cities, counties and tribal governments.”\nThe company also said it would continue to defend against any lawsuits the final agreement does not resolve.\nJames said the state will focus on funding for opioid prevention, treatment and education efforts in order to “prevent any future devastation.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":200,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":121537464,"gmtCreate":1624473527158,"gmtModify":1631890017309,"author":{"id":"3554281144270981","authorId":"3554281144270981","name":"Vic12","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3554281144270981","idStr":"3554281144270981"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good read","listText":"Good read","text":"Good read","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/121537464","repostId":"1145825451","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1145825451","pubTimestamp":1624433586,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1145825451?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-23 15:33","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Why I Believe NIO Will Beat Out Tesla","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1145825451","media":"InvestorPlace","summary":"The fact that Tesla scrapped its Model S Plaid Plus release is just part of it.Super fans of the latest and greatest high-endTesla, Inc. model received some disappointing news a week ago when CEO Elon Musk abruptly canceled the release of its highly anticipated Model S Plaid Plus with a tweet on June 6.Instead, the company has begun delivering a new Model S Plaid that has only a 390-mile range and 1,020 horsepower, though it still sprints to from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just two seconds. The go","content":"
\n The fact that Tesla scrapped its Model S Plaid Plus release is just part of it.\n
\n
Super fans of the latest and greatest high-endTesla, Inc.(NASDAQ:TSLA) model received some disappointing news a week ago when CEO Elon Musk abruptly canceled the release of its highly anticipated Model S Plaid Plus with a tweet on June 6.
\n
Source: nrqemi / Shutterstock.com
\n
Musk wrote there was… “No need, as Plaid is just so good.”
\n
The Model S Plaid Plus was supposed to be the fastest, most powerful and priciest version of the company’s Model S. Priced at $149,990, it was to feature a range of 520 miles, thanks to its innovative 4680 battery cells, 1,100 horsepower and the ability to speed from 0 to 60 mph in less than two seconds.
Priced at $149,990, it was to feature a range of 520 miles, thanks to its innovative 4680 battery cells, 1,100 horsepower and the ability to speed from 0 to 60 mph in less than two seconds.\nInstead, the company has begun delivering a new Model S Plaid that has only a 390-mile range and 1,020 horsepower, though it still sprints to from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just two seconds.\nAs a way to “sugar coat” its flip flop, Tesla said the Model S Plaid is just as fast as the Model S Plaid Plus and $20,000 cheaper. Humm.\nThis “bait and switch” has some Tesla fans worried, since they had deposits on the Model S Plaid Plus and wanted the innovative 4680 battery cells that Tesla had been touting as the key to longer range and more power. Essentially, the 4680 battery cells were the latest great Tesla development, since they were the first batteries to also be a structural component that supposedly allowed Tesla to lower the weight of its vehicles.\nBoth the company’s Austin and Berlin manufacturing plants now under construction are supposed to also be making the 4680 batteries for new Tesla vehicles. If there is a problem with the engineering associated with utilizing the 4680 batteries or making them a structural component, then Tesla has grossly miscalculated, which is now worrying investors.\nClearly something happened to delay the 4680 batteries that were supposed to provide Tesla with a competitive and engineering edge. For Tesla’s sake, I hope they figure out the problems associated with their much hyped 4680 battery cells, otherwise concerns about its two new manufacturing plants will emerge, as well as the stock losing more of its “mojo.”\nAs someone who owns more than a few high-performance vehicles, I can tell you that the engineering geeks I know donotwant to get a new Model S Plaid instead of a Model S Plaid Plus and will likely ask for their deposits back.\nWhat Tesla did is like Ferrari or Porsche telling its customers that one of their much-hyped new performance models is now not being sold because the base model was just as good! Car fanatics, like myself, like the latest and greatest engineering tidbits, so we would rather cancel our orders versus settle for a base model.\nThe good news for Tesla is that its China sales in May resurged to 21,936, up sharply from 11,671 in April. The company’s sales tend to spike at the end of each quarter. For example, Tesla sold 35,478 vehicles in China in March, which was the strongest month ever in China.\nThis is raising expectations for very strong China sales in June, especially now that the Model Y is being manufactured in Shanghai. Interestingly, since most Chinese Teslas are now made with iron phosphate batteries, these vehicles have lower range than its lithium cobalt vehicles, but its iron phosphate vehicles are cheaper and now increasingly being exported to Europe.\nHowever, I’m convinced another electric vehicle (EV) company will eventually displace Tesla as the biggest manufacturer of EVs in China.\nTaking Advantage of the EV Revolution’s Profit Potential\nI’m talking about Nio, Inc.(NYSE:NIO). The reality is that this company is on the verge of dominating the EV market in China and Hong Kong. It’s why I put NIO on myPlatinum Growth ClubModel Portfolio back in February.\nThe company boasts that it is the “next-generation car company,” as it designs and manufactures electric vehicles that utilize the latest technologies in connectivity, autonomous driving and artificial intelligence (AI). NIO currently offers an electric seven-seater SUV (ES8) and a five-seater electric SUV (ES6) and recently introduced an attractive electric sedan (ET7). Its vehicles utilize NOMI, an in-vehicle artificial intelligence assistant.\nThe company is also partnering with cutting-edge chip companies likeNVIDIA Corporation(NASDAQ:NVDA), another one of myPlatinum Growth ClubModel Portfolio stocks. Announcements like this are very positive, so NIO has been stealing some of Tesla’s thunder lately.\nNow, it’s important to note that NIO was bailed out by the Chinese government. Last year, the Chinese government injected $1 billion and now has a 24% ownership in the company. The reality is that China wants to dominate at least five major industries by 2025, and NIO is now its ticket to dominate EV manufacturing.\nWith the backing of the Chinese government, some Wall Street firms are eager to help NIO by issuing new debt or equity. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if NIO surpasses Tesla, which is currently number-two in China, for market share in the upcoming years.\nThat means, if you missed Tesla’s parabolic run like I did, NIO is essentially giving us a “second chance” to make money in a potentially explosive electric vehicle company.\nShares of NIO climbed nearly 13% since the company’s June 4 announcement of its May delivery report and positive analyst comments, while Tesla shares rose almost 3%. First, NIO revealed that the global chip shortage is starting to take a toll on its business. NIO only delivered 6,711 vehicles in May, or a 5.5% decline from April’s deliveries. Company management noted that deliveries were “adversely impacted for several days due to the volatility of semiconductor supply and certain logistical adjustments.”\nInterestingly, despite the month-to-month dip, NIO’s deliveries were still up 95.3% year-over-year. Strong demand in China even inspired a Citigroup analyst to upgrade NIO to a buy rating, as he expects demand to accelerate in the coming months.\nIn other words, NIO represents thecrème de la crèmeof EV stocks right now.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":303,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":167896674,"gmtCreate":1624256690398,"gmtModify":1631890017315,"author":{"id":"3554281144270981","authorId":"3554281144270981","name":"Vic12","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3554281144270981","idStr":"3554281144270981"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[Smile] ","listText":"[Smile] ","text":"[Smile]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/167896674","repostId":"1135860567","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1135860567","pubTimestamp":1624243350,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1135860567?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-21 10:42","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Troubled Companies Take Page From AMC Playbook in Seeking Stock-Market Lifelines","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1135860567","media":"WSJ","summary":"The frenzied stock-buying activity that may have saved AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc.from bankruptcy is opening up a potential escape hatch for other troubled borrowers as well.More companies with steep financial challenges are seeking a lifeline from equity markets, eager to capitalize on thesurge of interest in stock buyingfrom nonprofessional investors.
