Hong Kong stock market

On October 26th, the three major indexes of Hong Kong stocks opened higher, with Hang Seng Index rising 0.39% to 26,234 points, China Index rising 0.37% to 9,356 points and Hang Seng Technology Index rising 0.07% to 6,749 points. BYD shares rose by more than 5%, and it was agreed by HKEx to split BYD Semiconductor and list it on the GEM of Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

US stock market

The Dow Jones and Standard & Poor's 500 index closed at record highs, as the current earnings season reached its climax, and several industry leaders will report earnings. The Dow Jones index closed up 0.18%, hitting a new record high. The S&P 500 rose 0.47% to a record high of 4,566.48.

Futures market

Oil prices retreated gains after hitting $85 a barrel for the first time since 2014, as traders focused on Iran's upcoming talks with the European Union that could lead to a revival of the 2015 nuclear deal. As of press time, American WTI crude oil November futures fell 19 cents, or 0.23%, to 83.57 US dollars/barrel; Brent December futures rose 34 cents, or 0.40%, to $84.97/barrel.

Gold rose nearly 1 percent as falling Treasury yields and continuing concerns about inflation boosted the safe-haven asset ahead of the main central bank meeting this week.

In late trading in the US market, spot gold closed at $1,807.48/oz, up $14.69 or 0.82%, hitting a high of $1,810.00 and a low of $1,791.98. Last week, spot gold prices rose by $25.40, or 1.44%.
