Stock Futures Rise as Wall Street Begins <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/NGD\">New</a> Trading Month</b></p>\n<p>Stock futures rose Monday with solid corporate earnings lifting equities as Wall Street prepares for the first trading of August.</p>\n<p>Contracts linked to the Dow Jones Industrial Average were up 187 points, S&P 500 futures gained 27 points and <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/NDAQ\">Nasdaq</a> futures rose 86 points.</p>\n<p>The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury was down slightly Monday, falling to 1.234%.</p>\n<p>Stocks fell Friday and for the weekbut closed July with their sixth straight month of gains. The S&P 500 fell 0.4% last week but rose 2.3% for the month.</p>\n<p>Markets were led lower Friday by Amazon (<b>AMZN</b>) , which dropped 7.56% after revenue at the tech giant and online retailer disappointed, and U.S. second-quarter gross domestic product that rose 6.5% on annualized basis, less than forecasts.</p>\n<p><i>Amazon is a holding in Jim Cramer'sAction Alerts PLUS member club. Economic reports on construction spending, factory orders and durable goods orders also are expected during the week.</p>\n<p><b>3. Square to Pay $29 Billion for Australia's Afterpay</b></p>\n<p>Square (<b>SQ</b>) agreed to pay $29 billion to acquire Australia's Afterpay, a buy-now, pay-later company.</p>\n<p>The all-stock deal is Square's largest-ever acquisition.</p>\n<p>Square said Afterpay's buy-now, pay-later concept is an alternative to traditional credit and appeals to younger consumers.</p>\n<p>In a statement,Squaresaid it plans to integrate Afterpay into its existing Seller product for small businesses and its Cash App.</p>\n<p>“Square and Afterpay have a shared purpose,” said Jack Dorsey, Square’s CEO. “We built our business to make the financial system more fair, accessible, and inclusive, and Afterpay has built a trusted brand aligned with those principles.”</p>\n<p>Square also posted second-quarter adjusted earnings of 66 cents a share, rising from 18 cents a year earlier and higher than analysts' forecasts of 31 cents.</p>\n<p>Gross profit in the quarter was $1.14 billion, up 91% from a year earlier. Gross profit from Square's Cash App was $546 million.</p>\n<p>Shares of Square fell 3.18% in premarket trading to $239.40.</p>\n<p><b>4. Parker-Hannifin to Buy U.K. Rival Meggitt for $8.8 Billion</b></p>\n<p>Parker-Hannifin (<b>PH</b>) , the U.S. maker of motion and control technologies and systems, reached an agreement to buy British engineer Meggitt for 6.3 billion pounds ($8.8 billion) in cash to boost its aerospace operations.</p>\n<p>The deal for Meggitt, which specializes in the aerospace, defense and energy markets, would be the biggest ever for Parker-Hannifin.</p>\n<p>Parker-Hannifin is acquiring Meggitt just as the aviation industry begins rebounding from a severe downturn suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic.</p>\n<p>The acquisition of Meggitt nearly doubles the size of Parker-Hannifin's aerospace systems segment, the company said in a regulatory statement.</p>\n<p>Parker-Hannifin declined 0.97% to $309 in premarket trading Monday.</p>\n<p><b>5. <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/ZM\">Zoom</a> Video Settles $85 Million Data Privacy Lawsuit</b></p>\n<p>Zoom Video <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/JCS\">Communications</a> (<b>ZM</b>) reached a preliminary settlement on a user privacy lawsuit,agreeing to pay $85 million and improve its security and privacy practices.</p>\n<p>The proposed settlement would resolve a class actionlawsuit filed in April 2020in the U.S. District Court for the <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/NTRSP\">Northern</a> District of California alleging that Zoom Video violated user privacy rights by sharing personal data with <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/FB\">Facebook</a> (<b>FB</b>) , <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/LNKD\">LinkedIn</a> and <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/GOOG\">Alphabet</a>-owned Google (<b>GOOGL</b>) , as well as allowing the practice of Zoombombing during Zoom meetings.</p>\n<p>Zoombombing is when hackers disturb Zoom meetings through displays of pornography, inappropriate language or other undesirable content.</p>\n<p>Under the settlement, subscribers would be entitled to 15% refunds on their subscriptions or $25, whichever is larger. Other people who are ineligible to submit a subscription claim would receive $15.
