The yield on the benchmark bond edged down to 1.759% Tuesday from 1.779% Monday.</p><p>The prospect of imminent and faster-than-expected interest-rate rises has convulsed financial markets this month. Betting on a rate increase as soon as March, investors have moved to sell bonds, driving up yields, which in turn has prompted volatile trading for stocks, particularly tech firms.</p><p>On Monday, indexes initially slumped, led by sharp losses among tech stocks, but an afternoon rally erased the worst losses for the S&P 500 and saw technology firms end with modest gains.</p><p>Investors are looking to comments from Mr. Powell on Tuesday, when Senate lawmakers will decide on his nomination for a second term as Fed Chair.
