Trying to explain to them how different it is. You have to work so hard to get in there, don’t just take it for granted. This is almost 12-13 months work to try and get into the competition before the following year you get in. You don’t want to let it go.

When I first saw the format for the competition this year, half of you is thinking you understand why some teams will just concentrate just on the Premiership because of having to rest players, giving internationals a rest, and rest other players who must have three weeks off before the end of the year.

You can potentially rest everyone around Europe. I can see why clubs would do it. Then the reality sets in. You hear that European music and you start getting excited again and you’re like ‘no chance’. We have to go for this and give it our best shot because you work so hard to get there.

It’s hard to say to players we’re going to rest everyone, I know as a player this would be one of your highlights of the season, hearing that music, running out to it, it’s going to be special. We’ve got a lot of young guys, three guys making their starting debuts in Europe for us last weekend. They lose a game and they feel like they’re out of the competition already.

It is pretty difficult. You can’t think ‘it doesn’t matter about this game, we will target the next one’ you have to win every single game and that’s what you might need to go through.

Every point is vital, so getting the four tries and the five points was vital for us going forward and trying to get out of this group.11:18Bobby Bridge

'They were outstanding'

They’re a big physical team that are very confrontational and are going to come at you. One of the heaviest sides in the Top 14, they’ve got internationals throughout. It’s about not allowing them to impose their game on us. That was them at their best.

They came up against an outstanding team. It doesn’t matter what Leinster team goes out, everyone knows they’re one of the best teams in Europe. They were clinical and held their field position, they put Montpellier under immense pressure and took their opportunities when they were down there. There’s things we will take from that game but our focus is on us imposing our game on them.

Wasps head coach Lee Blackett11:04Bobby Bridge

'Keep on being adaptable'

One thing that’s pleasing is the opportunities we are creating. I think that’s a really pleasing thing, the disappointing thing is taking those opportunities. I think we’re all the same watching the games, you getting off your seat, thinking we’re about to score or finish an opportunity and we’re just coming up with mistakes.

A couple of weeks ago against Newcastle we definitely made too many handling errors. At the weekend it was lots of different little things, being stripped in contact, handling errors, lineout, there was loads of little things.

There is pleasing signs. There are signs we’re moving in the right direction getting back to where we know we can be, but obviously we’re just going to concentrate on trying to improve every week. I think a lot of different teams are finding out it’s quite hard if you’ve got internationals that are going away and coming back halfway through the week. I think our training so far has been quite disjointed.

We’ve spoken before about being adaptable, it’s a key thing, we have to keep on being adaptable, we can’t use anything like that as excuses and we definitely won’t be. Some Wasps fans hinted at a possible third spell at the club.

We put the question to you on social media - here’s what you had to say...

‘Why not?’ Wasps fans have say on Danny Cipriani’s possible return

09:51Bobby Bridge

What we expect to see today

Joe Launchbury and Dan Robson are being rested, that much is clear through social media. Both featured prominently for England over the last six weeksWhile Jack Willis played twice over the period and Jacob Umaga remains uncapped, both qualify for mandatory time off, I wouldn’t be surprised if their names are missing tooThe situation with Will Rowlands is unclear. He had a busy Autumn, maybe this is the weekend he takes a break with big Premiership games aheadTom Willis, absent from the last two games due to Covid-19 contact tracing issues, is available - and is certain to go back into the 23Prop Ben Harris travelled to Rodney Parade as a travelling reserve last weekend, he is also likely to be back in the squad after recovering from his hip issueJames Gaskell is back from his head injury suffered against Newcastle Falcons, and is likely to startAlfie Barbeary suffered a calf knock against the Dragons. Lee Blackett seemed hopeful the 20-year-old would recover in time. If he does, it’ll be another back row deployment for him.Maybe we could see Sione Vailanu on the bench? The big Tongan has been missing since September with a nasty ankle injury. But with Tom Willis back on the scene, it might be tempting to give him another week or two to get more training minutes under his belt09:32Bobby Bridge

Why was Nigel Owens allowed to be the TMO last weekend?

The other officials are assistant referees Sara Cox and Jamie Leahy and TMO is Ian Tempest.

They are all English. Some people raised question marks as to why Nigel Owens was the TMO for Dragons v Wasps last weekend.

This is because EPCR have installed a policy by where it is only the match referee who crosses borders.

So the rest of the matchday officiating team can be from the host club’s home nation - as it was last weekend at Rodney Parade, and will be again on Friday evening.Man in the middleBobby Bridge

Andrew Brace

Andrew Brace will referee Friday night’s game. It’s fair to say he’s not a favourite among the French rugby loving public.

The Irishman was the man in the middle for the Autumn Nations Cup final earlier this month when England edged past France in extra time.

He was due to officiate Toulouse v Exeter in France, but was switched to Wasps v Montpellier instead.09:18KEY EVENT

Covid-19 screening latest

Overnight it was confirmed that Exeter’s Heineken Champions Cup match with Toulouse was cancelled because of a Covid-19 outbreak at the Chiefs.

The news was confirmed just hours after the latest results of the weekly Premiership Covid-19 screening programme were revealed.

A total of 18 people, from two clubs, tested positive. There were fears that Wasps may have been one of the clubs that had recorded positive results, following the late decision for Saturday’s round one clash to go ahead against the Dragons - despite a Covid-19 outbreak within the Welsh region’s camp.

This prompted six members of the original 23-man Dragons squad to be withdrawn.Wasps went on to win the game 24-8.

However, CoventryLive understands that Wasps recorded a clean sweep of negative results from Monday’s round of testing.

So unless there’s any late news from their French visitors, Friday night’s game is all set to go ahead.09:16

Welcome!

Good morning and welcome to our live blog that will bring you the all-important team news as well as updates and breaking news ahead of Wasps v Montpellier.

Stay tuned!

","source":"tencent","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The other officials are assistant referees Sara Cox and Jamie Leahy and TMO is Ian Tempest. They are all English. Some people raised question marks as to why Nigel Owens was the TMO for Dragons v Wasps last weekend. This is because EPCR have installed a policy by where it is only the match referee who crosses borders. So the rest of the matchday officiating team can be from the host club’s home nation - as it was last weekend at Rodney Parade, and will be again on Friday evening.Man in the middleBobby Bridge Andrew Brace Andrew Brace will referee Friday night’s game.
