Tata Motors (TTM) has ~45% share in the commercial vehicle market, while Hero Motors leads in two-wheelers. India is a budding EV market, though one primarily concentrated in two-wheelers/rickshaws as the go-to mode for transportation; thus, outright domestic impact for Tesla could be minimal if/when the EV market starts to mature and affordability, demand and infrastructure for EV rises. However, Tesla is likely to benefit from low labor costs, opening up favorable export pathways to China, and could help drive more cost reductions in that fiercely competitive environment.
