Avatr Technology, previously known as Changan Nio, has plugged into Nio's (NYSE: NIO) charging network, becoming the 14th brand to do so.

The electric vehicle (EV) arm of Changan Automobile announced today that it has entered into a charging service partnership with Nio to connect to the charging network of Nio's power unit Nio Power.

Avatr owners can find and use Nio Power's charging piles through the Avatr App to get a charging service with wide coverage, efficient inquiries, and convenience, the EV maker said.

Avatr was initially set up as Changan Nio by Changan and Nio on July 10, 2018. Nio has now essentially exited from the joint venture.

The latest partnership marks yet another company that has partnered with Nio on charging facility sharing, as they look to utilize one of the largest charging networks in China.

Nio's charging network has always been open to other brands of EVs, though these kinds of partnerships help provide a better charging experience.

Previously, brands including Chery, Dongfeng M-Hero, HIMA, FAW Hongqi, and GAC Energy have announced their access to Nio's charging network.

Nio has one of the largest numbers of public charging piles among Chinese car brands, with 2,442 supercharging stations providing 11,206 charging piles in China as of today, as well as 1,660 destination charging stations providing 12,887 charging piles.

The company's signature battery swap stations number 2,659 in China, of which 876 are located along highways.

On November 21, 2023, Changan entered into a partnership with Nio on battery swap services, marking the first external partner for the latter's signature energy replenishment network.

The two sides would work together on promoting the establishment of battery swap battery standards, the construction and sharing of battery swap networks, the research and development of battery swap-enabled models, and the establishment of an efficient battery asset management mechanism, Nio said at the time, without mentioning further details.
