Investment platforms don’t have adequate cross-border systems to handle shareholder votes, potentially jeopardizing Chief Executive Elon Musk’s effort to gain approval for $56 billion in pay. Another proposal would reincorporate the company in Texas instead of Delaware. Tesla (TSLA) has “an unusually high proportion of retail shareholders” who control about 30% of its outstanding shares, according to the FT.  Many of these investors in Europe and Asia discovered they’re unable to cast shareholder votes electronically from outside the U.S. because of inadequacies with stockbrokers and online trading platforms.
