MW Dow, S&P 500 snap 6-day win streak as Nasdaq logs another record close
Stocks ended mostly lower Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 each snapping a six-day winning streak, while the Nasdaq Composite powered to another record close. The Dow fell around 11 points, or less than 0.1%, to end near 31,375, according to preliminary figures, while the S&P 500 gave up around 4 points, or 0.1%, to close near 3,911. Analysts said stocks were due for a breather after recent gains, which have been tied to expectations for another large round of aid spending as well as a slower pace of new COVID-19 cases and continued vaccine rollouts. The Nasdaq shook off the softer tone, eking out a gain of around 20 points, or 0.1%, to close near 14,008.
