Omicron coronavirus variant, first discovered in South Africa, has now been detected in Britain, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Botswana, Israel, Australia and Hong Kong. The world economy esp the hospitality industry will be hard hit one more time.

I think the impact is short-lived. People have been able to control the virus in an orderly manner. We'll be back to normal soon.

It is likely the price of oil will continue to fall if Omicron spikes world wide.  Hopefully it can be curtailed as soon as possible.

The saddest news is the US and her allies continue to politicise Covid-19 instead of leading the world to overcome the pandemic

WHO labels new Covid strain, named omicron, a ‘variant of concern,’ citing possible increased reinfection risk. “Omicron, B.1.1.529, is named as a variant of concern because it has some concerning properties,” Maria Van Kerkhove, the WHO’s technical lead on Covid-19, said in a video published on Twitter. “This variant has a large number of mutations, and some of these mutations have some worrying characteristics.”
