That sell-off appeared to have been triggered largely by the Federal Reserve's recent commentary regarding its expectations for raising benchmark interest rates in 2023. In addition, the rapid spread of the omicron COVID-19 variant across the U.S. and worldwide even as a delta-driven surge is already underway may be spooking some investors.\nThe tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite was down by more than 1.6% as of this writing -- a slightly larger decline than the Dow Jones Industrial Average.\nMeta may also be slipping Monday because investment research firm Loop Capital cut its price target on the stock from $420 to $380.
