The move, along with a new plan for electric vehicles, have signaled to many on Wall Street that Ferrari is moving into a new tech-centric era.\nGoldman analyst George Galliers dropped his rating on the stock to sell from buy, saying that the strategic shift puts a ceiling on what Ferrari can do in the near term.\n“While we would view this development as a positive for Ferrari’s long-term future, we believe it may drive the need for incremental [capital expenditures] ... Uncertainty around future capex requirements also brings uncertainty around future earnings and cash flow,” the note said.\nFerrari could also underperform the broader auto industry as global production ramps back up. Goldman said it does not expect the company to try to make up the lost production from the pandemic period.\n“We expect the broader auto industry to benefit over the next 12-18 months from a sequential improvement in global production, as a result of easing of semi-conductor shortages, improving end markets, and the need to re-stock. Sector relative, we do not see Ferrari as a notable beneficiary of this development,” the note said.\nGalliers dropped his price target on Ferrari’s U.S.-traded shares to $207 from $227. The new target is 2% below where the stock closed on
