The company had high hopes for flu vaccine candidate NanoFlu after reporting encouraging results in early 2018 from a phase 1/2 study.</p>\n<p>Novavax advanced NanoFlu into phase 2 testing in older adults in September 2018. It reported more good news from that clinical trial in January 2019.</p>\n<p>That set the stage for NanoFlu's phase 3 study -- a head-to-head comparison with<b>Sanofi</b>'s&nbsp;approved flu vaccine FluZone Quadrivalent. The study began in October 2019.
