It's a big growth leap and could catapult Nio to new heights if can exploit its brand loyalty. Nio's branding efforts go beyond cars -- Nio owners can buy branded products and even experience company-owned coffee houses and co-working spaces.
\n
Most importantly, Nio's battery-as-a-service subscription is a solid competitive advantage as it gives buyers the option to buy cars without batteries for substantially lower costs and instead rent and swap batteries as and when required.
\n
With Nio's orders hitting a record high in August and deliveries of its fourth model -- the mid-size sedan ET7 -- to start by early 2022, this is one of the best Chinese electric vehicle stocks you could buy right now.
\n
This EV battery beast is also a Dividend Aristocrat
\n
Whether it's Ford, Nio or any other EV manufacturer, they all require lithium-ion batteries to power their cars. Albemarle (NYSE:ALB) is one of the world's largest lithium mining companies, and was in fact the world's largest supplier of battery-grade lithium for electric vehicles in 2020.
\n
Albemarle recognized the EV market's potential early in the game when it acquired lithium giant Rockwood Holdings in 2015. In 2019, Albemarle struck a joint venture with Australia-based company Mineral Resources and acquired a 60% stake in its Wodgina mine. Wodgina has the world's largest hard rock lithium deposits.
\n
Not surprisingly, Albemarle is growing exponentially. It expects net sales to nearly double by 2026 from expected 2021 levels of $3.2 billion to $3.3 billion, and foresees adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) margins of 43% to 47% by 2026. This same company was projecting 2025 EBITDA margin of 32% to 34% in 2019.
\n
Albemarle is also expanding aggressively outside the U.S. and targeting 40% to 45% revenue from China and 30% to 35% from rest of Asia by 2026. For perspective, China is expected to bring in just about 25% of its revenue in 2021.
\n
Those are some eye-popping growth numbers, and when you also consider that Albemarle is a rare EV Dividend Aristocrat with a 27-year streak of consecutive dividend increases, you know you have found a long-term winning stock.
\n
This new EV stock on the block is addressing the biggest EV problem
\n
As exciting as the future of electric cars sounds, their advent comes at a huge environmental cost: Lithium-ion batteries have a limited lifespan and therefore have to be replaced, giving rise to a global challenge. Enter Li-Cycle Holdings (NYSE:LICY), North America's largest battery recycler, founded in 2016.
\n
Li-Cycle operates a two-stage Spoke-and-Hub recycling model: It breaks down batteries at spokes and recovers lithium, cobalt, nickel, and manganese from them at Hubs to send the recovered material back to battery producers. Here's where the company stands now in terms of operations:
\n
\n
It commissioned its first Spoke facility in Ontario in 2017.
\n
It opened a second one in Rochester, New York, in 2020.
\n
Its third Spoke facility in Arizona is expected to start early next year. It'll have an annual recycling capacity of 10,000 tons of lithium-ion batteries, double the capacity at each of its other two Spokes.
\n
Its first revenue-generating Hub in Rochester should be operational by 2023.
\n
\n
Demand is so high that Li-Cycle has already planned a fourth Spoke in Alabama. By 2025, it expects to process 100,000 tons per year at Spokes and 220,000 tons to 240,000 tons per year at its Hub.
\n
In the last quarter, Li-Cycle onboarded 14 new battery-supply customers, taking its total customer count to 70. Its revenue shot up 840% year over year to $1.7 million.
\n
Remember though, Li-Cycle is an early-stage, loss-making company that's already commanding a market capitalization of $1.8 billion. Yet that's how growth stocks behave, and if its growing customer and asset base is anything to go by, Li-Cycle could be a multibagger EV stock in the making for those who get in early.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Electric Vehicle Stocks to Buy and Hold for the Next Decade
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Electric Vehicle Stocks to Buy and Hold for the Next Decade\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-09-26 11:36 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
The global electric car market grew 43% in 2020 in terms of units, with new car sales soaring 70% in a year when sales of conventional cars dropped, according to the International Energy Agency. ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"TSLA":"特斯拉","NIO":"蔚来","ALB":"美国雅保","LI":"理想汽车","F":"福特汽车"},"source_url":"https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/09/25/3-electric-vehicle-stocks-you-can-buy-and-hold-for/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"2170614570","content_text":"The global electric car market grew 43% in 2020 in terms of units, with new car sales soaring 70% in a year when sales of conventional cars dropped, according to the International Energy Agency. But MVIS stock began to soar last fall on news it was developing a lidar system for the automotive sector.
\n
Between the start of December 2020 and Feb. 16 of this year, MVIS stock rocketed up by more than 920%. After a quick correction, it’s surged several times since, hitting a decade-long high close of $26.44 on April 26.
\n
That’s classic meme stock performance. However, MicroVisiondoeshave a shot at a big win in a huge industry. At its current price in the $15 range, is MVIS stock worth considering for your portfolio?
\n
Lidar Versus Relying on Cameras
\n
Much of the drama around MVIS stock has been a direct result of Tesla(NASDAQ:TSLA). There is a, “Will they or won’t they?” element to this. Tesla is the leading electric car manufacturer — but more importantly in this context, it’s seen as a leader in the race to autonomous cars.
\n
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has repeatedly dismissed lidar. He’s called it a“crutch”and “a fool’s errand.” In 2019,he told attendee sat Tesla’s first Autonomy Day Event, “Anyone relying on lidar is doomed. Doomed!”
\n
One of Musk’s key complaints about lidar is its expense. Prices have come down, but early in the autonomous car race, a lidar system for a single vehicle could cost $70,000.
\n
Tesla has been betting that camera-based systems have improved to the point where they can match lidar’s depth-sensing lasers. However, a very public series of crashes by Tesla vehicles on Autopilot raised questions about this approach.
\n
While Elon Musk may still be trashing lidar publicly, it seems that behind the scenes, Tesla is experimenting with adding lidar to its Autopilot sensor suite. There have been multiple reports over the past six months of Tesla vehicles equipped with prominent lidar sensors.
\n
A big part of the MVIS stock story in 2021 has been retail investors reacting to discussions on the subject by Reddit users onr/WallStreetBets. So yes, MVIS has been a classic meme stock. But MVIS stock began to soar last fall on news it was developing a lidar system for the automotive sector.\nBetween the start of December 2020 and Feb. 16 of this year, MVIS stock rocketed up by more than 920%. After a quick correction, it’s surged several times since, hitting a decade-long high close of $26.44 on April 26.\nThat’s classic meme stock performance. However, MicroVisiondoeshave a shot at a big win in a huge industry. At its current price in the $15 range, is MVIS stock worth considering for your portfolio?\nLidar Versus Relying on Cameras\nMuch of the drama around MVIS stock has been a direct result of Tesla(NASDAQ:TSLA). There is a, “Will they or won’t they?” element to this. Tesla is the leading electric car manufacturer — but more importantly in this context, it’s seen as a leader in the race to autonomous cars.\nTesla CEO Elon Musk has repeatedly dismissed lidar. He’s called it a“crutch”and “a fool’s errand.” In 2019,he told attendee sat Tesla’s first Autonomy Day Event, “Anyone relying on lidar is doomed. Doomed!”\nOne of Musk’s key complaints about lidar is its expense. Prices have come down, but early in the autonomous car race, a lidar system for a single vehicle could cost $70,000.\nTesla has been betting that camera-based systems have improved to the point where they can match lidar’s depth-sensing lasers. However, a very public series of crashes by Tesla vehicles on Autopilot raised questions about this approach.\nWhile Elon Musk may still be trashing lidar publicly, it seems that behind the scenes, Tesla is experimenting with adding lidar to its Autopilot sensor suite. There have been multiple reports over the past six months of Tesla vehicles equipped with prominent lidar sensors.\nA big part of the MVIS stock story in 2021 has been retail investors reacting to discussions on the subject by Reddit users onr/WallStreetBets. So yes, MVIS has been a classic meme stock. But MicroVision would obviously benefit if Tesla were to start using lidar sensors.\nFor example, MVIS stock saw one big spike in February, which was assisted by this Medium post that suggested it could “skyrocket” over the next few years. The author wrote that the company may have game-changing technology that would be the perfect match for Tesla.\nMicroVision’s Cheap Lidar Has Competition\nMicroVision’s pitch is effective lidar sensors that are cheap enough for automakers — even Tesla — to adopt them. The company says its lidar system will meet or exceed original equipment manufacturer (OEM) requirements. Additionally, it will do so with an average selling price (ASP) of less than $1,000.\nThat’s a far cry from the days of a $70,000 lidar system. MicroVision isn’t the only one developing a cheap lidar system. But having the company adopt your lidar system for its cars is a big win that’s likely to influence other car makers.\nThe Bottom Line on MVIS Stock\nThis Portfolio Grader “B”-rated stock could be a long-term growth winner. MicroVision has other products that have potential, including components used in AR glasses.\nHowever, the real win would be chalking up a contract to supply automakers with a lidar system. That is a huge market. However, following its second-quarter 2021 results, the newly minted public company saw its shares decline. On Friday, Sept. 17, the company's stock experienced a more than 7% one-day plunge in value. This, combined with the fact it was the third-most-mentioned stock on the WallStreetBets Reddit subforum at the time of its IPO, has led to speculation it could become a \"meme stock\" -- but is such a possibility realistic? Important factors seem to weigh against it.
\n
Krispy Kreme is doing OK, but not leading the market
\n
After its initial jump, traders appear to think Krispy shares are somewhat overheated and should be trading at a more modest level. Its Q2 earnings report shows revenue climbing approximately 43% year over year to $349.2 million. Even this gain, of course, is mostly a rebound from the lockdowns and closures of 2020's COVID-19 response. It boosted its worldwide \"points of access\" about 15.7% year over year. On the positive side, e-commerce has increased, now accounting for 19% of sales around the world. Some analysts are also throwing their support behind the doughnut chain, notably Morgan Stanley. The firm rates Krispy Kreme as overweight with a $23 price target, citing the company's market opportunities both in the U.S. and overseas, along with evidence of growth shown by its Q2 results, to support its bull case.
\n
Another potentially worrisome facet of the company is its debt. Its $1.63 billion in debt dwarfs its $71.6 million operating cash flow and its $38.1 million cash reserves. Its debt has more than doubled since the start of the year, and the current portion of its long-term debt has exploded 1,212% over the same time frame. Its operating margin for the trailing 12 months is just under 2.3%, while the margins for its United States and Canadian operations -- its most important regions -- actually dropped in Q2. The margins of its Insomnia Cookies subsidiary increased, but this brand accounts for only 200 out of Krispy's approximately 9,600 points of access, so margin growth here is not particularly significant at this time.
\n
While Krispy Kreme seems likely to continue growing, there is nothing in its situation to suggest it will outperform the market anytime soon, either. It has growth opportunities and seems to be executing competently to further them. But it also has a large amount of debt, low margins, and relatively few locations compared to other quick-service restaurants, and a product focus with possibly less continuous demand than coffee.
\n
Krispy Meme? Not likely
\n
While Krispy Kreme was unable to support its initial princely valuation, it seems highly unlikely to become a meme stock in the same way that GameStop and AMC Entertainment have. Its performance may not justify a high share price, but it is also not sliding toward bankruptcy due to an obsolete business model. It could even start making modest gains once the market finds an acceptable price for its shares.
\n
Because it is successful within its niche, despite being possibly temporarily overvalued, short-sellers aren't flocking to it in expectation of steadily worsening news. Even with options already available after its IPO, short interest as percentage of float is hovering around 3%. GameStop's short interest is around 12.4%, while around 18.7% of AMC shares are shorted. Without double-digit short interest, it seems improbable WallStreetBets' army of retail investor \"apes\" will bid Krispy Kreme's shares up.
\n
On the flip side, while Krispy Kreme isn't bearish enough for shorts or \"apes,\" it also doesn't seem bullish enough for other investors. With a smorgasbord of stock picks in today's market, Dutch Bros. looks moderately bullish for a start-up, and Krispy Kreme is likely overvalued, while many other companies are potentially better bets than either -- at least under current circumstances.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":242,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":884594547,"gmtCreate":1631915441089,"gmtModify":1632805436738,"author":{"id":"4092174983483640","authorId":"4092174983483640","name":"IQcute","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b06a3be78c20359230ff855c40659944","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[暗中观察] ","listText":"[暗中观察] ","text":"[暗中观察]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/884594547","repostId":"1180599641","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1180599641","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1631888062,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1180599641?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-09-17 22:14","market":"us","language":"en","title":"IronNet Cybersecurity stock tumbled 17% in morning trading","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1180599641","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"IronNet Cybersecurity stock tumbled 17% in morning trading. The shares rose more than 150% this month","content":"
IronNet Cybersecurity stock tumbled 17% in morning trading. The shares rose more than 150% this month.
\n

\n
IronNet reported quarterly revenue of $6.1 million, which was down from $7.9 million year-over-year. My investment thesis is Bearish with the stock pressing towards all-time highs at $150 while business growth is decelerating.
\n
Source:FinViz
\n
Recency Bias
\n
One of the biggest mistakes made in the stock market is recency bias. An investor will naturally overweight the recent results of a business in deriving the correct current valuation for an equity.
\n
The current stock price is a prime example for Apple. The tech. giant has a huge history of growing over time, but Apple has also had a couple of periods in the last decade where revenues declined.
\n
The recent accelerated growth and shift to recurring services shouldn't alter one's view that Apple is still product-focused and will constantly run into down cycles. Investors must consider these likely outcomes when valuing the stock, but the current valuation is based on a recency bias of elevated growth in the last year.
\n
Data byYCharts
\n
Even after another sterling quarter, analyst estimates are still forecasting a period of up to 4 years where Apple doesn't generate revenue growth in excess of 6%. TheFQ3'21 resultswere blow away numbers with revenues topping $80 billion and beating estimates by over $8 billion.
\n
Source: Seeking Alphaearnings estimates
\n
The problem is that Apple had a nearly perfect quarter. The company admitted that Services revenue won't repeat the 33% growth in the June quarter and these tough comps are problematic for growth in future periods. Investors should easily understand that any growth after reporting a year with 33% growth is impressive, but some post covid slowdowns shouldn't be surprising.
\n
Right now though, Apple is still priced for excessive growth. A lot of the stock price gains in the last few years are attributed all to expanding P/E multiples. One only has to go back to 2016 for when Apple only traded at 10x trailing earnings. The stock now trades at nearly 30x trailing earnings, or nearly 3x the multiple from just 5 years ago.
\n
Data byYCharts
\n
If Apple only traded at 15x trailing earnings, the stock would trade closer to $75, not $150. For this reason, the stock has struggled to break above $150 for a while now.
\n
While the market forecasts 3% revenue growth for FY22, Citi analyst Wamsi Mohanmade it clearreal risk exists for Apple to actually report revenue and gross profit dollars down YoY in the first 3 quarters of the fiscal year:
\n
\n Apple could be faced with the dual headwinds of tougher comps and weaker demand in Hardware only modestly offset by any Services re-acceleration. Revenue growth for F4Q was guided lower than the 36% y/y growth in F3Q, but the upcoming Dec, March and now even June quarters could be down y/y in revs and gross profit dollars given several headwinds.\n
\n
iPhone 5G Cycle
\n
History tells us that Apple regularly has these product cycles and covid lockdowns should accelerate the likelihood of a future quarter with trough numbers. In addition, the 5G iPhone cycle should advance these normal cycles with sales pushed from the normal quarter into the December quarter last year. Normal sales for the iPhone 13 in the September quarter will accelerate the tough comps in the December quarter and on into FY22.
\n
TheCounterpoint chart highlights how the iPhone 12/5G cycle has elevated sales to a level where Apple faces tough comps in FY22. Not only were FQ1'21 sales elevated, but the FQ2'21/FQ3'21 units sold were far in excess of the prior two years.
\n
No real explanation exists for higher sales other than covid demand pulled forward and the 5G cycle. Even normal market growth wouldn't lead to unit sales surging somewhere in the 50% range for the March and June quarters from prior-year levels.
\n
Investors really have to question whether Apple can sell over 60 million units again in the March quarter and another 50 million units in the June quarter. Even selling iPhones at higher ASPs might not be enough to offset some declines in units sold.
\n
The crazy part here is that historical norms support Apple reporting some tough comps in the next year and going on to substantial growth in the next decade. The company has Services revenues up to $17.5 billion in quarterly sales accounting for some 21% of sales for the first 9 months of FY21.
\n
Apple is poised to roll these recurring revenues into more consistent growth, but the growth rates will be as annual revenues top $400 billion. Without the recency bias of the last year, investors would understand this concept and appropriately value the stock at a more normal valuation of ~15x future earnings.
\n
If the tech giant earns $5.92 in even FY23, the stock would only trade at $89 using a 15x multiple. Remember, one would normally question whether Apple even deserves a 15x forward multiple when earnings are only forecast to grow at a 5% clip in FY23. A stock usually struggles to trade at forward P/E multiples of 2x the growth rate, not 3x the growth rate.
\n
Takeaway
\n
The key investor takeaway is that investors should clearly understand why Apple is struggling to push beyond $150. The stock is already insanely expensive for the normalized growth rates going forward and the real risk that the tech giant actually reports a few quarters where revenues decline.
\n
Investors should be selling Apple at $150, not looking to buy even more shares at a price where the annualized returns should be weak.
","source":"seekingalpha","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Apple: The $150 Struggle Is Real
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nApple: The $150 Struggle Is Real\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-08-24 11:43 GMT+8 seekingalpha\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Summary\n\nApple is struggling to push past a ceiling on the stock at $150.\n5G iPhone units sold in FY21 so far make for a high hurdle in FY22.\nThe stock trades at an insanely 27x FY22 EPS estimates ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"AAPL":"苹果"},"source_url":"https://seekingalpha.com/article/4451389-apple-the-150-struggle-is-real","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/5a36db9d73b4222bc376d24ccc48c8a4","article_id":"1104413070","content_text":"Summary\n\nApple is struggling to push past a ceiling on the stock at $150.\n5G iPhone units sold in FY21 so far make for a high hurdle in FY22.\nThe stock trades at an insanely 27x FY22 EPS estimates with minimal growth rates going forward.\nLooking for a helping hand in the market? An investor will naturally overweight the recent results of a business in deriving the correct current valuation for an equity.\nThe current stock price is a prime example for Apple. The tech. giant has a huge history of growing over time, but Apple has also had a couple of periods in the last decade where revenues declined.\nThe recent accelerated growth and shift to recurring services shouldn't alter one's view that Apple is still product-focused and will constantly run into down cycles. Investors must consider these likely outcomes when valuing the stock, but the current valuation is based on a recency bias of elevated growth in the last year.\nData byYCharts\nEven after another sterling quarter, analyst estimates are still forecasting a period of up to 4 years where Apple doesn't generate revenue growth in excess of 6%. TheFQ3'21 resultswere blow away numbers with revenues topping $80 billion and beating estimates by over $8 billion.\nSource: Seeking Alphaearnings estimates\nThe problem is that Apple had a nearly perfect quarter. The company admitted that Services revenue won't repeat the 33% growth in the June quarter and these tough comps are problematic for growth in future periods. Investors should easily understand that any growth after reporting a year with 33% growth is impressive, but some post covid slowdowns shouldn't be surprising.\nRight now though, Apple is still priced for excessive growth. A lot of the stock price gains in the last few years are attributed all to expanding P/E multiples. One only has to go back to 2016 for when Apple only traded at 10x trailing earnings. The stock now trades at nearly 30x trailing earnings, or nearly 3x the multiple from just 5 years ago.\nData byYCharts\nIf Apple only traded at 15x trailing earnings, the stock would trade closer to $75, not $150. For this reason, the stock has struggled to break above $150 for a while now.\nWhile the market forecasts 3% revenue growth for FY22, Citi analyst Wamsi Mohanmade it clearreal risk exists for Apple to actually report revenue and gross profit dollars down YoY in the first 3 quarters of the fiscal year:\n\n Apple could be faced with the dual headwinds of tougher comps and weaker demand in Hardware only modestly offset by any Services re-acceleration. Revenue growth for F4Q was guided lower than the 36% y/y growth in F3Q, but the upcoming Dec, March and now even June quarters could be down y/y in revs and gross profit dollars given several headwinds.\n\niPhone 5G Cycle\nHistory tells us that Apple regularly has these product cycles and covid lockdowns should accelerate the likelihood of a future quarter with trough numbers. In addition, the 5G iPhone cycle should advance these normal cycles with sales pushed from the normal quarter into the December quarter last year. Normal sales for the iPhone 13 in the September quarter will accelerate the tough comps in the December quarter and on into FY22.\nTheCounterpoint chart highlights how the iPhone 12/5G cycle has elevated sales to a level where Apple faces tough comps in FY22. Not only were FQ1'21 sales elevated, but the FQ2'21/FQ3'21 units sold were far in excess of the prior two years.\nNo real explanation exists for higher sales other than covid demand pulled forward and the 5G cycle. Even normal market growth wouldn't lead to unit sales surging somewhere in the 50% range for the March and June quarters from prior-year levels.\nInvestors really have to question whether Apple can sell over 60 million units again in the March quarter and another 50 million units in the June quarter. Even selling iPhones at higher ASPs might not be enough to offset some declines in units sold.\nThe crazy part here is that historical norms support Apple reporting some tough comps in the next year and going on to substantial growth in the next decade. The company has Services revenues up to $17.5 billion in quarterly sales accounting for some 21% of sales for the first 9 months of FY21.\nApple is poised to roll these recurring revenues into more consistent growth, but the growth rates will be as annual revenues top $400 billion. Without the recency bias of the last year, investors would understand this concept and appropriately value the stock at a more normal valuation of ~15x future earnings.\nIf the tech giant earns $5.92 in even FY23, the stock would only trade at $89 using a 15x multiple. Remember, one would normally question whether Apple even deserves a 15x forward multiple when earnings are only forecast to grow at a 5% clip in FY23. A stock usually struggles to trade at forward P/E multiples of 2x the growth rate, not 3x the growth rate.\nTakeaway\nThe key investor takeaway is that investors should clearly understand why Apple is struggling to push beyond $150. The stock is already insanely expensive for the normalized growth rates going forward and the real risk that the tech giant actually reports a few quarters where revenues decline.\nInvestors should be selling Apple at $150, not looking to buy even more shares at a price where the annualized returns should be weak.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":230,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":868543939,"gmtCreate":1632692340321,"gmtModify":1632798626255,"author":{"id":"4092174983483640","authorId":"4092174983483640","name":"IQcute","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b06a3be78c20359230ff855c40659944","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Please like. Even the bears admit it.
\n
Thursday, Barclays analyst Brian Johnson raised his price target for Tesla (ticker: TSLA) stock to $300 from $230. He still rates shares the equivalent of Sell, though. And Tesla stock closed Thursday at $818.32—nowhere near $300. Still, his price target was bumped to an important level in one respect.
\n
At $300, Johnson is saying that Tesla stock is worth about $300 billion. (Tesla has about 1 billion shares outstanding, making the math easy.) That’s more than Toyota Motor’s (TM) market capitalization of about $287 billion. Another analyst now believes there is no more valuable car company than Tesla.
\n
Tesla remains a very controversial stock on Wall Street. Analyst price targets—even removing the top and bottom targets to reduce skew—range from $150 to $1,080 a share. The $930 bull-bear spread is more than 100% of the current stock price and two to three times wider than the average spread for large stocks.
\n
The bull-bear spread for Microsoft (MSFT), for instance, is about $100 a share or roughly 33% of the stock’s recent $296.31 price.
\n
The Tesla controversy boils down, in large part, to a debate about what Tesla is. Bears believe it is a car company and that competition will erode its margins and slow its growth. Bulls believe Tesla is a platform tech company with many businesses—such as stationary power—along with its core car operations and that Tesla’s lead over automotive peers in things such as autonomous driving and battery management software will enable high growth for a decade while maintaining leading EV market share.
\n
Johnson, for his part, is a traditional auto analyst covering more than 20 companies. He appears to fall in the former camp. He rates General Motors (GM) and Ford Motor (F) stock Buy. Those two stocks trade for single-digit price-to-earnings ratios. Tesla trades for roughly 100 times estimated 2022 earnings.
\n
He raised his price target because, despite believing the company is overvalued, things are looking good going into the third-quarter earnings release due October 20.
\n
For the third quarter, Wall Street is looking for about $1.50 in per-share earnings from $13.5 billion in sales. Even the bears admit it.\nThursday, Barclays analyst Brian Johnson raised his price target for Tesla (ticker: TSLA) stock to $300 from $230. He still rates shares the equivalent of Sell, though. And Tesla stock closed Thursday at $818.32—nowhere near $300. Still, his price target was bumped to an important level in one respect.\nAt $300, Johnson is saying that Tesla stock is worth about $300 billion. (Tesla has about 1 billion shares outstanding, making the math easy.) That’s more than Toyota Motor’s (TM) market capitalization of about $287 billion. Another analyst now believes there is no more valuable car company than Tesla.\nTesla remains a very controversial stock on Wall Street. Analyst price targets—even removing the top and bottom targets to reduce skew—range from $150 to $1,080 a share. The $930 bull-bear spread is more than 100% of the current stock price and two to three times wider than the average spread for large stocks.\nThe bull-bear spread for Microsoft (MSFT), for instance, is about $100 a share or roughly 33% of the stock’s recent $296.31 price.\nThe Tesla controversy boils down, in large part, to a debate about what Tesla is. Bears believe it is a car company and that competition will erode its margins and slow its growth. Bulls believe Tesla is a platform tech company with many businesses—such as stationary power—along with its core car operations and that Tesla’s lead over automotive peers in things such as autonomous driving and battery management software will enable high growth for a decade while maintaining leading EV market share.\nJohnson, for his part, is a traditional auto analyst covering more than 20 companies. He appears to fall in the former camp. He rates General Motors (GM) and Ford Motor (F) stock Buy. Those two stocks trade for single-digit price-to-earnings ratios. Tesla trades for roughly 100 times estimated 2022 earnings.\nHe raised his price target because, despite believing the company is overvalued, things are looking good going into the third-quarter earnings release due October 20.\nFor the third quarter, Wall Street is looking for about $1.50 in per-share earnings from $13.5 billion in sales. The company earned $1.45 in adjusted per-share earnings from $12 billion in sales during the second quarter.\nTesla stock has been on a strong run, reflecting the good setup into earnings. Shares are up about 21% over the past three months. The S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average are both down slightly over the same span.\nIts stock rose 0.4% to $821.75 in premarket trading.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":607,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":862699616,"gmtCreate":1632873755770,"gmtModify":1632873756274,"author":{"id":"4092174983483640","authorId":"4092174983483640","name":"IQcute","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b06a3be78c20359230ff855c40659944","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like","listText":"Like","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":9,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/862699616","repostId":"1106892312","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1106892312","pubTimestamp":1632870830,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1106892312?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-09-29 07:13","market":"us","language":"en","title":"These high-flying stocks of 2021 dropped the most on Tuesday","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1106892312","media":"marketwatch","summary":"Stocks hit especially hard include Moderna, Nvidia and Google holding company Alphabet.\n\nThe Federal","content":"
\n Stocks hit especially hard include Moderna, Nvidia and Google holding company Alphabet.\n
\n
The Federal Reserve’s signaled policy change is having a predictable effect — pushing stock prices lower as bond yields become more attractive.
\n
This reverses some very strong action for U.S. stocks — at least for a day.
