These 3 Growth Stocks Are Trading Near Their 52-Week Lows","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2192754259","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Three names you know are trading within 10% of their 52-week lows. They deserve better.","content":"
The major market indexes may be near their recent all-time highs, but your portfolio might have missed the memo. There are a lot of stocks struggling outside of the bellwethers that are heavily weighted in the market gauges, and we're not just talking about small and obscure names.
\n
Disney (NYSE:DIS), Twitter (NYSE:TWTR), and Toast (NYSE:TOST) are all trading within 10% of their 52-week lows. They are market leaders, but investors just aren't feeling the love for the entertainment powerhouse, the social media kingmaker, and the toast of the town in restaurant tech. Let's see why these are three promising ideas for the next $5,000 you want to invest in the market.
\n
Disney
\n
Disney's theme parks call themselves the happiest or merriest places on Earth, but shareholders aren't feeling the same way these days. The media maven's stock is less than 5% away from the 52-week low it hit earlier this month.
\n
It's pretty surprising to see Disney as a market laggard this year. It's the dominant theme park operator and film studio on the planet, making it a clear beneficiary of the reopening of the economy in 2021. Unfortunately for shareholders, things are never as easy as they seem. Disney+ subscriber growth has slowed recently, and that's problematic since the platform for premium streaming video was the major reason for Disney climbing in 2020.
\n
Disney near 52-week lows is still a sobering development. The theme parks continue to draw. The top movies this year are largely Disney's handiwork. Even its cruise lines are finally sailing again. The weight of the world may be on beleaguered CEO Bob Chapek's shoulders, but it's a small world after all.
\n
Twitter
\n
Another shocking name skirting fresh lows is Twitter. The company behind the short-form social platform is in a funk, and even the initial 10% pop that the stock experienced after its CEO stepped down late last month proved fleeting. As of Thursday's close, Twitter is also now just 5% above the fresh low it hit two weeks ago.
\n
The platform is working. Its daily active users have grown 13% over the past year to 211 million. Ad revenue is growing even faster, and that 41% surge is a testament to both Twitter's engagement and its ability to milk more money out of every user. New leadership should help it continue to evolve, and the recent rollout of premium features for those willing to pay a little to improve the experience should get Twitter moving in the right direction again before long.
\n
Toast
\n
Running a restaurant has changed dramatically just in the past couple of years, and Toast is the no-brainer cloud-based platform that keeps eateries on top of all of the trending revenue streams. It's a one-stop shop for restaurant needs. On the consumer-facing end, it helps process mobile ordering for take-out, manage incoming sales from third-party delivery services, and naturally serve as the point-of-sale for in-restaurant dining. It also helps run customer loyalty programs to keep regulars coming back.
\n
Toast does even more on the enterprise end, tackling everything from payroll to inventory management. With chains and independent concepts emerging smarter out of the pandemic than they were before, the company simplifies the necessary functions of an eatery in the new normal.
\n
Despite stellar growth -- revenue has soared 105% through the first nine months of this year -- the recent IPO hit an all-time low on Wednesday. It may be causing indigestion for investors who chased the new stock when it popped to double today's price by early November, but right now it feels more like a dinner bell.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Got $5,000? There are a lot of stocks struggling outside of the bellwethers that are heavily weighted in the market gauges, and we're not just talking about small and obscure names.\nDisney (NYSE:DIS), Twitter (NYSE:TWTR), and Toast (NYSE:TOST) are all trading within 10% of their 52-week lows. They are market leaders, but investors just aren't feeling the love for the entertainment powerhouse, the social media kingmaker, and the toast of the town in restaurant tech. Let's see why these are three promising ideas for the next $5,000 you want to invest in the market.\nDisney\nDisney's theme parks call themselves the happiest or merriest places on Earth, but shareholders aren't feeling the same way these days. The media maven's stock is less than 5% away from the 52-week low it hit earlier this month.\nIt's pretty surprising to see Disney as a market laggard this year. It's the dominant theme park operator and film studio on the planet, making it a clear beneficiary of the reopening of the economy in 2021. Unfortunately for shareholders, things are never as easy as they seem. Disney+ subscriber growth has slowed recently, and that's problematic since the platform for premium streaming video was the major reason for Disney climbing in 2020.\nDisney near 52-week lows is still a sobering development. The theme parks continue to draw. The top movies this year are largely Disney's handiwork. Even its cruise lines are finally sailing again. The weight of the world may be on beleaguered CEO Bob Chapek's shoulders, but it's a small world after all.\nTwitter\nAnother shocking name skirting fresh lows is Twitter. The company behind the short-form social platform is in a funk, and even the initial 10% pop that the stock experienced after its CEO stepped down late last month proved fleeting. As of Thursday's close, Twitter is also now just 5% above the fresh low it hit two weeks ago.\nThe platform is working. Its daily active users have grown 13% over the past year to 211 million. Ad revenue is growing even faster, and that 41% surge is a testament to both Twitter's engagement and its ability to milk more money out of every user. New leadership should help it continue to evolve, and the recent rollout of premium features for those willing to pay a little to improve the experience should get Twitter moving in the right direction again before long.\nToast\nRunning a restaurant has changed dramatically just in the past couple of years, and Toast is the no-brainer cloud-based platform that keeps eateries on top of all of the trending revenue streams. It's a one-stop shop for restaurant needs. On the consumer-facing end, it helps process mobile ordering for take-out, manage incoming sales from third-party delivery services, and naturally serve as the point-of-sale for in-restaurant dining. It also helps run customer loyalty programs to keep regulars coming back.\nToast does even more on the enterprise end, tackling everything from payroll to inventory management. With chains and independent concepts emerging smarter out of the pandemic than they were before, the company simplifies the necessary functions of an eatery in the new normal.\nDespite stellar growth -- revenue has soared 105% through the first nine months of this year -- the recent IPO hit an all-time low on Wednesday. It may be causing indigestion for investors who chased the new stock when it popped to double today's price by early November, but right now it feels more like a dinner bell.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":441,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":690260775,"gmtCreate":1639670116589,"gmtModify":1639670116589,"author":{"id":"3581563058003710","authorId":"3581563058003710","name":"leeWT","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/49e0521f4fb5a74a66948df0eddb1c8b","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hopefully So while he will likely focus on vehicles on the horizon, I expect we’ll get an update on the progress of the factories, too. We could also hear about any number of other products, including Tesla Insurance; fans might even be able to get a $50 whistle shaped like the Cybertruck, assuming it’s ever back in stock.
\n
To review: Tesla currently makes the Model S, X, 3 and Y in Fremont, California, and the Model 3 and Y in Shanghai. Tesla also is building a new factory in Lathrop, California, for Megapack, its utility-scale battery product.
\n
Here’s a quick reminder of everything else that Tesla has unveiled and that customers and investors are eager for updates on.
\n
Elon Musk presents the Tesla Cybertruck.
\n
CYBERTRUCK
\n
Musk unveiled the Cybertruck two years ago, in November 2019. Of all the vehicles on Tesla’s plate, the Cybertruck is the one that has generated the most interest. The idea is to make it in Austin, Texas, after the Model Y. Tesla’s website, which still takes fully refundable $100 deposits for the Cybertruck, says “you will be able to complete your configuration as production nears in 2022.” I would not be surprised if this timeline slips further.
\n
SEMI
\n
Musk unveiled the Semi truck four years ago, in November 2017. Musk has suggested the Semi is on hold until Tesla can make or source a new type of battery cell in high volume. The new, larger 4680 battery cells were one of the big highlights of Tesla’s “Battery Day” last year. Tesla is making the 4680s on a pilot line in Fremont, but also plans to procure them from long-time supplier Panasonic. In its third quarter earnings release, Tesla said that “the 4680 in-house cell project continues to progress. We are producing an increasing number of battery packs for testing purposes, and so far, the test results meet our current expectations.” That sounds promising, but volume production remains a work in progress.
\n
ROADSTER
\n
The big reveal at the Semi event in November 2017 was chief designer Franz von Holzhausen driving the next-generation Roadster out of the back of the Semi. So while he will likely focus on vehicles on the horizon, I expect we’ll get an update on the progress of the factories, too. We could also hear about any number of other products, including Tesla Insurance; fans might even be able to get a $50 whistle shaped like the Cybertruck, assuming it’s ever back in stock.\nTo review: Tesla currently makes the Model S, X, 3 and Y in Fremont, California, and the Model 3 and Y in Shanghai. Tesla also is building a new factory in Lathrop, California, for Megapack, its utility-scale battery product.\nHere’s a quick reminder of everything else that Tesla has unveiled and that customers and investors are eager for updates on.\nElon Musk presents the Tesla Cybertruck.\nCYBERTRUCK\nMusk unveiled the Cybertruck two years ago, in November 2019. Of all the vehicles on Tesla’s plate, the Cybertruck is the one that has generated the most interest. The idea is to make it in Austin, Texas, after the Model Y. Tesla’s website, which still takes fully refundable $100 deposits for the Cybertruck, says “you will be able to complete your configuration as production nears in 2022.” I would not be surprised if this timeline slips further.\nSEMI\nMusk unveiled the Semi truck four years ago, in November 2017. We are producing an increasing number of battery packs for testing purposes, and so far, the test results meet our current expectations.” That sounds promising, but volume production remains a work in progress.\nROADSTER\nThe big reveal at the Semi event in November 2017 was chief designer Franz von Holzhausen driving the next-generation Roadster out of the back of the Semi. We haven’t heard about this vehicle in a while; Tesla’s most recent shareholder deck says it is still in development.\nFUTURE PRODUCT\nIn his Master Plan, Part Deux, Musk said Tesla’s line up would “cover the major forms of terrestrial transport.” Most expect a cheaper, $25,000 car made in China. But what else? A bus? Minivan? Has Tesla ever considered an electric bike? Tesla’s 3Q investor deck (see page 7) lists a “Future Product” in development.\nThere also are the Tesla Energy products, including the Solar Roof and Powerwall for homeowners.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":414,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":600740102,"gmtCreate":1638200116196,"gmtModify":1638200116722,"author":{"id":"3581563058003710","authorId":"3581563058003710","name":"leeWT","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/49e0521f4fb5a74a66948df0eddb1c8b","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Buy both","listText":"Buy both","text":"Buy both","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/600740102","repostId":"2186262293","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2186262293","pubTimestamp":1638155027,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2186262293?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-11-29 11:03","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Better Semiconductor Stock: Nvidia or AMD","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2186262293","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Which high-growth chipmaker is the better all-around investment?","content":"
Key Points
\n
\n
Nvidia is profiting from the robust demand for GPUs in the gaming and data center markets.
\n
AMD is selling more CPUs for the PC and server markets as Intel tries to resolve its R&D and manufacturing issues.
\n
One of these chipmakers has more catalysts than the other.
\n
\n
Last December, I compared two of the market's hottest semiconductor stocks: Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) and Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD).
\n
At the time, I said AMD was a better buy than Nvidia because I believed it was better insulated from macro headwinds, it would benefit from the arrivals of the new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles, and it would continue to grow its market share against Intel (NASDAQ:INTC).
\n
However, Nvidia's stock price has rallied nearly 150% since I wrote that article, while AMD's stock has only advanced about 70%. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq each also advanced. Investors kicked off the week on a strong note, with equity and bond-market trading set to close fully on Thursday and early on Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday.
\n
President Joe Biden on Monday announced he was nominating Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell for a second term leading the central bank, ending weeks of speculation over who would be tapped for the role. Biden was expected to select either Powell or current Fed Governor Lael Brainard. Following the nomination, Powell will go before the Senate Banking Committee for approval, and if confirmed, will serve another four-year term.
\n
“I think this was largely expected by markets. Certainly there were some conversations in markets over the last couple of weeks about Brainard potentially being elevated to the Fed chair position. But by and large the expectation was for consistency,” Erin Browne, Pimco managing director and portfolio manager, told Yahoo Finance Live on Monday. “You may see a little bit of a rally on the back of this with the expectation that policy is going to remain in place and intact, and everything that’s been articulated already by the Fed is likely to continue into 2022 and beyond.”
\n
The new leader will be tasked with helping lead the central bank as it grapples over the coming months with whether the economic recovery has progressed enough to warrant a deeper reduction in monetary policy support.
\n
\"The most important question in the moment right now is how high the Fed ultimately hikes interest rates,\" John McClain, portfolio manager for Brandywine Global's high yield and corporate credit strategies, told Yahoo Finance Live on Friday.\"Right now, expectations are for about two and a half to three hikes in 2022, and probably getting to about 175 basis points on Fed funds ultimately.\"
\n
\"The market and the media are focused on a faster Fed tapering and hiking sooner than June of next year,\" he added. \"And importantly, we're seeing inflation and things that matter to the consumer, prices at the pump, food, rent, all are going higher. And the list kind of goes on and on.\"
\n
More data on the inflation front is set to be released this week, which will further provide data hinting at whether the Fed may need to step in sooner rather than later to curb persistently elevated prices. The core personal consumptions expenditures (PCE) index from the Bureau of Economic Analysis out Wednesday, which serves as the Fed's preferred inflation gauge, will likely show a 4.1% over last year, based on Bloomberg consensus data. This would be the biggest annual jump in about three decades.
\n
Optimism over new deal-making activity across numerous industries also helped push stocks higher on Monday. Constellation Brands (STZ), the maker of Corona beer, is reportedly exploring a deal to combine with Coca-Cola-backed (KO) energy drink company Monster Beverage, according to a Bloomberg report on Monday. And private equity firm KKR & Co. made an about $12 billion bid to bring Telecom Italia private, sending shares of the Italian telecommunication giant sharply higher.
\n
Investors also shook off jitters from late last week, when rising COVID-19 cases globally set off fresh concerns over the virus's spread. The Austrian government implemented a fourth national lockdown since the start of the pandemic, effective Monday and lasting for at least 10 days, to try and stem jumping infections. Germany has considered a similar move. NVDA stock’s popularity has skyrocketed and now trades like a meme.
\n
Chipmaker and software company NVIDIA reported its third quarter results on November 17, after the closing bell. The NVIDIA earnings event was one of the most awaited on Reddit forums, since the company is considered a key player in important sub-segments of tech, including gaming and artificial intelligence. NVIDIA topped revenue and EPS expectations, as usual.
\n
In the morning of November 18, NVIDIA stock climbed as high as 12%, boosted by earnings euphoria and the stock’s popularity on the main discussion boards. In fact, NVDA was the most discussed stock on Reddit on November 18 (see below).
\n
Figure 1: Trending stocks on Reddit on November 18.
\n
Today, we take a closer look at NVDA; the post-earnings excitement; and why the stock, now up a solid 25% in November alone and around +125% YTD, continues to trade like a meme.
\n
Strong Q3 results and growth pace
\n
Despite optimistic estimates by Wall Street, NVIDIA stilldeliveredan easy all-around beat on EPS, by $0.06, and on revenues, by $289 million. All business segments saw robust revenue growth, especially data center – which has been the main revenue growth driver in the past quarters. Nvidia also posted a significant guidance beat on gross margins of 65.2%. Not many companies outside pure software vendors can boast gross margins above 60%.
\n
Figure 2: NVIDIA quarterly revenue trend.
\n
Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, also mentioned AI demand as a highlight of the quarter:
\n
\n “\n Demand for NVIDIA AI is surging, driven by hyperscale and cloud scale-out, and broadening adoption by more than 25,000 companies. NVDA stock’s popularity has skyrocketed and now trades like a meme.\nChipmaker and software company NVIDIA reported its third quarter results on November 17, after the closing bell. The NVIDIA earnings event was one of the most awaited on Reddit forums, since the company is considered a key player in important sub-segments of tech, including gaming and artificial intelligence. NVIDIA topped revenue and EPS expectations, as usual.\nIn the morning of November 18, NVIDIA stock climbed as high as 12%, boosted by earnings euphoria and the stock’s popularity on the main discussion boards. In fact, NVDA was the most discussed stock on Reddit on November 18 (see below).\nFigure 1: Trending stocks on Reddit on November 18.\nToday, we take a closer look at NVDA; the post-earnings excitement; and why the stock, now up a solid 25% in November alone and around +125% YTD, continues to trade like a meme.\nStrong Q3 results and growth pace\nDespite optimistic estimates by Wall Street, NVIDIA stilldeliveredan easy all-around beat on EPS, by $0.06, and on revenues, by $289 million. All business segments saw robust revenue growth, especially data center – which has been the main revenue growth driver in the past quarters. Nvidia also posted a significant guidance beat on gross margins of 65.2%. Not many companies outside pure software vendors can boast gross margins above 60%.\nFigure 2: NVIDIA quarterly revenue trend.\nJensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, also mentioned AI demand as a highlight of the quarter:\n\n “\n Demand for NVIDIA AI is surging, driven by hyperscale and cloud scale-out, and broadening adoption by more than 25,000 companies. NVIDIA RTX has reinvented computer graphics with ray tracing and AI, and is the ideal upgrade for the large, growing market of gamers and creators, as well as designers and professionals building home workstations.\n\nNVIDIA’s outlook for Q4 is for revenues to reach $7.4 billion and gross margins to land between 65.3% and 67.0%. The gaming cycle refresh and AI demand could be some of the catalysts allowing the company to achieve its guidance goals.\nInvest or trade?\nNVIDIA’s latest earnings report proved that business fundamentals remain as strong as ever. Substantial guidance and consensus beat coupled with upbeat outlook on growth and gross margins suggest that this remains a potentially good investment for the long term, especially if one considers largely untapped opportunities in areas like the metaverse.\nThe counterpoint is valuation, and whether the market might be pricing NVIDIA’s growth at too high a multiple. A current P/E ratio of 74x is the second highest amongst the 20 largest companies by market cap, only trailing Tesla (TSLA). One can’t help but wonder if NVDA’s meme-like, parabolic climb in 2020, 2021 and especially the current quarter might set the stock up for a pullback in the foreseeable future.\nThose a bit less concerned about NVIDIA’s valuations may be compelled by the company’s post-earnings euphoria that may continue to entice momentum traders and support share price for now.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":221,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":876097273,"gmtCreate":1637242184934,"gmtModify":1637242185107,"author":{"id":"3581563058003710","authorId":"3581563058003710","name":"leeWT","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/49e0521f4fb5a74a66948df0eddb1c8b","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good news","listText":"Good news","text":"Good news","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/876097273","repostId":"1113277554","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1113277554","pubTimestamp":1637241355,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1113277554?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-11-18 21:15","market":"us","language":"en","title":"J&J sees potential for 14 new multibillion-dollar drugs by 2025","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1113277554","media":"Reuters","summary":"Johnson & Johnson(JNJ.N)expects to file for approval of 14 new drugs by 2025, and has projected aver","content":"
Johnson & Johnson(JNJ.N)expects to file for approval of 14 new drugs by 2025, and has projected average peak sales of $4 billion a year for each, a top J&J scientist said ahead of a strategy review of the company's pharmaceuticals unit on Thursday.
\n
Among the top pipeline assets, Mathai Mammen, global head of research for J&J's Janssen pharmaceutical division, pointed to a drug combination for non-small cell lung cancer, an anticoagulant it is developing with partner Bristol Myers Squibb(BMY.N)and a vaccine for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
\n
J&J said last week that it plans to spin off its consumer health division that sells Listerine and Band-Aid bandages in order to focus on pharmaceuticals and medical devices in the biggest shakeup in the U.S. company's135-year history.
\n
Mammen in an interview said he did not think the transaction would change much in terms of research and development spending.
\n
\"We're really happy and proud of the way R&D is functioning - the strategy we're using and the level of investments,\" he said.
\n
J&J developed one of the three COVID-19 vaccines authorized in the United States, but its use in the country tailed off sharply after rare cases of blood clotting were linked to the shot.
\n
Nonetheless, Mammen said J&J still expects to develop more vaccines using the same adenovirus vector technology.
\n
\"It induces not just antibodies that tend to be relatively short-lived, but also good, multiple kinds of T-cells... so you have that really long-lasting benefit,\" Mammen said.
\n
Mammen said the company was \"actively looking\" at a lot of different technology platforms, including messenger RNA, the backbone of the COVID-19 vaccines from Moderna(MRNA.O)and Pfizer(PFE.N)and partner BioNTech
\n
\"We have several technologies right now, and we'll look at expanding that out further,\" he said.
","source":"lsy1601381805984","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Think: virtual reality and augmented reality, social media and internet gaming all rolled into one.
\n
Particularly driving the interest in the metaverse is social-media giant Facebook's decision to rebrand itself as Meta Platforms. It’s clear that this formerly niche area of the tech space is quickly gaining recognition in the mainstream.
\n
So it makes sense to explore the best ways to invest in the metaverse, especially when you consider how technology continues to become further integrated into younger generations’ daily lives.
\n
While Facebook might seem like the obvious pick here, another up-and-coming company stands out as a metaverse stock with similar upside potential.
\n
Roblox, the online videogame-development company, shows how technology can connect people of all ages and help create unique experiences in an increasingly digital world.
\n
The San Mateo, Calif., company's platform relies on user-generated content and enables players to create their own identities in the form of avatars. That's a true staple of the metaverse.
\n
It’s more than just an online video game - it's a platform to create games and build a community.
\n
Kids absolutely love spending time in the virtual 3D worlds that Roblox has to offer, and the company’s growth trajectory to date has been impressive.
\n
Here's why Roblox could be one of the premier metaverse stocks to own -- with an important series of caveats.
\n
It’s One of the World's Most Popular Games
\n
If you aren’t familiar with Roblox, you probably are older than 16 or you don’t have children.
\n
Half of all Americans under age 16 played Roblox in 2020, and the company’s user base continues to grow at a torrid pace. That's impressive given how competitive the industry is.
\n
Part of what keeps kids coming back to Roblox is that it's not just a single game. Developers each month add new games to the platform thanks to its easy to use game development engine. So players never get bored.
\n
Creators have incentives to build more content for the platform since they earn money if their games become hits. Roblox offers 25% of a game’s earnings through its Developer Exchange Program.
\n
The Roblox platform currently has more than 40 million games, 9.5 million developers and, as of the third quarter, 47.3 million average daily active users.
\n
these numbers should increase as more people worldwide gain access to the internet.
\n
The social aspect of Roblox is also a huge competitive advantage for the company, as children want to play the games that they create with their friends.
\n
Roblox players can connect with other users online and socialize, while some games even require effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in order to make progress.
\n
Recent Earnings Point to More Upside
\n
The way the company generates revenue also stands out.
\n
Roblox’s platform is free to try out. But users who want to make the most of their experiences must purchase the company’s in-game currency, Robux.
\n
Robux are used to purchase upgrades, avatar accessories, subscriptions, premium development plugins, and advertising for developers.
\n
The currency can be purchased at different price points, with an effective exchange rate in the U.S. from 1.25 cents per Robux to 1 cent per Robux if users buy in bulk.
\n
Kids love playing Roblox so much that their parents are willing to consistently provide them with real money that they can exchange for the in-game currency.
\n
The company’s business model certainly benefited from people social distancing and playing videogames during the pandemic. That has concerned a few investors as the world started to return to normal.
\n
But if Roblox’s recent earnings report is any indication, people are definitely still playing.
\n
Roblox reported Q3 revenue of $509.3 million, double (up 102%) the year-earlier figure. That was the company’s 10th consecutive quarter of top-line growth.
\n
Bookings increased 28% year-over-year to $637.8 million, daily active users increased 31% and hours engaged came in at 11.2 billion, up 28%.
\n
While its revenue-growth rate has been slowing, Roblox is still seeing strong user growth and engagement as the pandemic eases. After a strong move to the upside following the earnings release, Roblox stock is attempting to break out of its post-IPO base.
\n
Noteworthy Controversy
\n
While Roblox is intended to allow children to interact in a safe environment, the company ran into controversy about the content available on its platform.
\n
Although Roblox strictly prohibits any games with sexually explicit material, developers found a loophole that enabled them to create games with sexual content. In some instances, developers also recreated mass shootings on the platform.
\n
Roblox updated its terms of service to prohibit dating and romantic content and removed the violent content.
\n
It’s also worth noting that Roblox has parental controls that prevent younger children from entering games for ages 13+, although it’s the parents’ responsibility to turn the feature on.
\n
Some parents have also spoken out about their children’s Roblox addiction, as kids can become obsessed with the game.
\n
Experts also say that these types of games might slow the development of real-world communication skills, empathy, and more.
\n
Investors would do well to assess these issues before adding the shares to a portfolio.
\n
All together, Roblox could be one of the best ways to tap into the potential of the metaverse.
\n
Keep an eye on how the share price reacts to the company’s Investor Day on Nov. 16.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Think: virtual reality and augmented reality, social media and internet gaming all rolled into one.\nParticularly driving the interest in the metaverse is social-media giant Facebook's decision to rebrand itself as Meta Platforms. It’s clear that this formerly niche area of the tech space is quickly gaining recognition in the mainstream.\nSo it makes sense to explore the best ways to invest in the metaverse, especially when you consider how technology continues to become further integrated into younger generations’ daily lives.\nWhile Facebook might seem like the obvious pick here, another up-and-coming company stands out as a metaverse stock with similar upside potential.\nRoblox, the online videogame-development company, shows how technology can connect people of all ages and help create unique experiences in an increasingly digital world.\nThe San Mateo, Calif., company's platform relies on user-generated content and enables players to create their own identities in the form of avatars. That's a true staple of the metaverse.\nIt’s more than just an online video game - it's a platform to create games and build a community.\nKids absolutely love spending time in the virtual 3D worlds that Roblox has to offer, and the company’s growth trajectory to date has been impressive.\nHere's why Roblox could be one of the premier metaverse stocks to own -- with an important series of caveats.\nIt’s One of the World's Most Popular Games\nIf you aren’t familiar with Roblox, you probably are older than 16 or you don’t have children.\nHalf of all Americans under age 16 played Roblox in 2020, and the company’s user base continues to grow at a torrid pace. That's impressive given how competitive the industry is.\nPart of what keeps kids coming back to Roblox is that it's not just a single game. Developers each month add new games to the platform thanks to its easy to use game development engine. So players never get bored.\nCreators have incentives to build more content for the platform since they earn money if their games become hits. Roblox offers 25% of a game’s earnings through its Developer Exchange Program.\nThe Roblox platform currently has more than 40 million games, 9.5 million developers and, as of the third quarter, 47.3 million average daily active users.\nthese numbers should increase as more people worldwide gain access to the internet.\nThe social aspect of Roblox is also a huge competitive advantage for the company, as children want to play the games that they create with their friends.\nRoblox players can connect with other users online and socialize, while some games even require effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in order to make progress.\nRecent Earnings Point to More Upside\nThe way the company generates revenue also stands out.\nRoblox’s platform is free to try out. But users who want to make the most of their experiences must purchase the company’s in-game currency, Robux.\nRobux are used to purchase upgrades, avatar accessories, subscriptions, premium development plugins, and advertising for developers.\nThe currency can be purchased at different price points, with an effective exchange rate in the U.S. from 1.25 cents per Robux to 1 cent per Robux if users buy in bulk.\nKids love playing Roblox so much that their parents are willing to consistently provide them with real money that they can exchange for the in-game currency.\nThe company’s business model certainly benefited from people social distancing and playing videogames during the pandemic. That has concerned a few investors as the world started to return to normal.\nBut if Roblox’s recent earnings report is any indication, people are definitely still playing.\nRoblox reported Q3 revenue of $509.3 million, double (up 102%) the year-earlier figure. That was the company’s 10th consecutive quarter of top-line growth.\nBookings increased 28% year-over-year to $637.8 million, daily active users increased 31% and hours engaged came in at 11.2 billion, up 28%.\nWhile its revenue-growth rate has been slowing, Roblox is still seeing strong user growth and engagement as the pandemic eases. After a strong move to the upside following the earnings release, Roblox stock is attempting to break out of its post-IPO base.\nNoteworthy Controversy\nWhile Roblox is intended to allow children to interact in a safe environment, the company ran into controversy about the content available on its platform.\nAlthough Roblox strictly prohibits any games with sexually explicit material, developers found a loophole that enabled them to create games with sexual content. In some instances, developers also recreated mass shootings on the platform.\nRoblox updated its terms of service to prohibit dating and romantic content and removed the violent content.\nIt’s also worth noting that Roblox has parental controls that prevent younger children from entering games for ages 13+, although it’s the parents’ responsibility to turn the feature on.\nSome parents have also spoken out about their children’s Roblox addiction, as kids can become obsessed with the game.\nExperts also say that these types of games might slow the development of real-world communication skills, empathy, and more.\nInvestors would do well to assess these issues before adding the shares to a portfolio.\nAll together, Roblox could be one of the best ways to tap into the potential of the metaverse.\nKeep an eye on how the share price reacts to the company’s Investor Day on Nov. 16.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":295,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":878187240,"gmtCreate":1637160106910,"gmtModify":1637160115131,"author":{"id":"3581563058003710","authorId":"3581563058003710","name":"leeWT","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/49e0521f4fb5a74a66948df0eddb1c8b","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Will it beat estimate? Recently, Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) told investors it would spin off its consumer health business into a separate new company.
\n
If you've been considering this dividend-paying stock for one reason or another, the impending spinoff isn't anything to worry about. In fact, it makes the stock significantly more attractive. Here's a closer look at the company's plans so you can see why.
\n
Consumer health just doesn't fit
\n
Johnson & Johnson is a sprawling conglomerate with over a hundred separate subsidiaries divided into three operating segments: Pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and consumer health. Janssen, the company's pharmaceutical business is the largest and fastest-growing subsidiary of all. Pharmaceutical sales growth has outpaced the diverse medical-device segment but the company wants to keep these two segments together. That's because convincing physicians to order knee replacement gear isn't all that different from convincing physicians to prescribe a new cancer therapy.
\n
Johnson & Johnson practically created the consumer healthcare business over 130 years ago, so cleaving it is going to feel weird at first. Once the dust settles, though, the spinoff will most likely work out well for investors.
\n
In 2021, the consumer health segment is expected to record around $15 billion in revenue, a gain of roughly 7% over 2020. The still-unnamed new consumer health company will hit the ground running with 20 different brands generating over $150 million in annual sales.
\n
Where the growth is
\n
The 7% growth rate J&J expects to report for topline consumer health segment revenue this year is pretty good. Unfortunately, comparisons to 2020, when people shopped considerably less, are a little misleading.
\n
\n
\n
\n
Operating Segment
\n
2016 Revenue
\n
Q3 2021 Revenue Annualized
\n
5-Year Annual Growth Rate
\n
\n
\n
Consumer
\n
$13.3 billion
\n
$14.8 billion
\n
2.2%
\n
\n
\n
Medical Devices
\n
$25.1 billion
\n
$26.6 billion
\n
1.2%
\n
\n
\n
Pharmaceuticals
\n
$33.5 billion
\n
$52.0 billion
\n
9.2%
\n
\n
\n
\n
Data source: Johnson & Johnson.
\n
It's no wonder, Johnson & Johnson wants to focus on pharmaceutical sales. Over the past five years, pharmaceutical sales have increased at an impressive 9.2% annual growth rate. Over the same period, the company's other two segments struggled just to keep moving in the right direction. .
\n
Contributions from the high-margin pharmaceutical segment also have a much stronger impact on the bottom line. Adjusted income before taxes from the pharmaceutical segment worked out to $5.7 billion in the third quarter. Pre-tax profits from medical devices and consumer health came in at $1.7 billion and $0.9 billion respectively.
\n
Looking ahead
\n
If you're interested in buying shares of Johnson & Johnson before they become two, you have plenty of time to think it over. The company is targeting the completion of the planned separation in 18 to 24 months.
\n
Shares of both new companies will initially have smaller payouts but don't let that bother you. Dividend payouts for both new stocks are expected to add up to the same amount shareholders receive ahead of the split.
\n
At recent prices, Johnson & Johnson shares offer a juicy 3.1% yield and investors can expect a much larger yield on their original investment down the road. Recently, Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) told investors it would spin off its consumer health business into a separate new company.\nIf you've been considering this dividend-paying stock for one reason or another, the impending spinoff isn't anything to worry about. In fact, it makes the stock significantly more attractive. Here's a closer look at the company's plans so you can see why.\nConsumer health just doesn't fit\nJohnson & Johnson is a sprawling conglomerate with over a hundred separate subsidiaries divided into three operating segments: Pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and consumer health. Janssen, the company's pharmaceutical business is the largest and fastest-growing subsidiary of all. Pharmaceutical sales growth has outpaced the diverse medical-device segment but the company wants to keep these two segments together. That's because convincing physicians to order knee replacement gear isn't all that different from convincing physicians to prescribe a new cancer therapy.\nJohnson & Johnson practically created the consumer healthcare business over 130 years ago, so cleaving it is going to feel weird at first. Once the dust settles, though, the spinoff will most likely work out well for investors.\nIn 2021, the consumer health segment is expected to record around $15 billion in revenue, a gain of roughly 7% over 2020. The still-unnamed new consumer health company will hit the ground running with 20 different brands generating over $150 million in annual sales.\nWhere the growth is\nThe 7% growth rate J&J expects to report for topline consumer health segment revenue this year is pretty good. Unfortunately, comparisons to 2020, when people shopped considerably less, are a little misleading.\n\n\n\nOperating Segment\n2016 Revenue\nQ3 2021 Revenue Annualized\n5-Year Annual Growth Rate\n\n\nConsumer\n$13.3 billion\n$14.8 billion\n2.2%\n\n\nMedical Devices\n$25.1 billion\n$26.6 billion\n1.2%\n\n\nPharmaceuticals\n$33.5 billion\n$52.0 billion\n9.2%\n\n\n\nData source: Johnson & Johnson.\nIt's no wonder, Johnson & Johnson wants to focus on pharmaceutical sales. Over the past five years, pharmaceutical sales have increased at an impressive 9.2% annual growth rate. Over the same period, the company's other two segments struggled just to keep moving in the right direction. .\nContributions from the high-margin pharmaceutical segment also have a much stronger impact on the bottom line. Adjusted income before taxes from the pharmaceutical segment worked out to $5.7 billion in the third quarter. Pre-tax profits from medical devices and consumer health came in at $1.7 billion and $0.9 billion respectively.\nLooking ahead\nIf you're interested in buying shares of Johnson & Johnson before they become two, you have plenty of time to think it over. The company is targeting the completion of the planned separation in 18 to 24 months.\nShares of both new companies will initially have smaller payouts but don't let that bother you. Dividend payouts for both new stocks are expected to add up to the same amount shareholders receive ahead of the split.\nAt recent prices, Johnson & Johnson shares offer a juicy 3.1% yield and investors can expect a much larger yield on their original investment down the road. The company is a dividend aristocrat that hasn't gone a whole year without raising its payout since JFK was in office.\nJohnson & Johnson's dividend program is on such solid footing that steady raises in the years ahead shouldn't be a problem. Over the past 12 months, the company used just 42% of the free cash flow generated by operations to make dividend payments.\nThis dividend-paying healthcare stock might not be perfect for every investor, especially those willing to take high risks in return for a shot at huge gains. While I wouldn't expect Johnson & Johnson to outperform the broad market by much, investors can reasonably expect two dividend payments that grow steadily for many years to come.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":296,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":873933895,"gmtCreate":1636822008373,"gmtModify":1636822008492,"author":{"id":"3581563058003710","authorId":"3581563058003710","name":"leeWT","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/49e0521f4fb5a74a66948df0eddb1c8b","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Great","listText":"Great","text":"Great","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/873933895","repostId":"1151602326","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1151602326","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1636767621,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1151602326?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-11-13 09:40","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Musk sold 1.2 million Tesla shares on November 12","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1151602326","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Musk sold 1.2 million Tesla shares at an average price of $1032.5 on November 12,according to SEC documents. At present, Musk still holds 166.3 million Tesla shares. So far, Musk has sold about 6.34 million Tesla shares since November 8.
