Great article and advice

For a news source that loves moderating and censoring personal perspectives and opinions, they sure are “very reliable” (ahem) by shoving their own into others.

These 3 Growth Stocks Are Trading Near Their 52-Week Lows","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2192754259","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Three names you know are trading within 10% of their 52-week lows. They deserve better.","content":"
The major market indexes may be near their recent all-time highs, but your portfolio might have missed the memo. There are a lot of stocks struggling outside of the bellwethers that are heavily weighted in the market gauges, and we're not just talking about small and obscure names.
\n
Disney (NYSE:DIS), Twitter (NYSE:TWTR), and Toast (NYSE:TOST) are all trading within 10% of their 52-week lows. They are market leaders, but investors just aren't feeling the love for the entertainment powerhouse, the social media kingmaker, and the toast of the town in restaurant tech. Let's see why these are three promising ideas for the next $5,000 you want to invest in the market.
\n
Disney
\n
Disney's theme parks call themselves the happiest or merriest places on Earth, but shareholders aren't feeling the same way these days. The media maven's stock is less than 5% away from the 52-week low it hit earlier this month.
\n
It's pretty surprising to see Disney as a market laggard this year. It's the dominant theme park operator and film studio on the planet, making it a clear beneficiary of the reopening of the economy in 2021. Unfortunately for shareholders, things are never as easy as they seem. Disney+ subscriber growth has slowed recently, and that's problematic since the platform for premium streaming video was the major reason for Disney climbing in 2020.
\n
Disney near 52-week lows is still a sobering development. The theme parks continue to draw. The top movies this year are largely Disney's handiwork. Even its cruise lines are finally sailing again. The weight of the world may be on beleaguered CEO Bob Chapek's shoulders, but it's a small world after all.
\n
Twitter
\n
Another shocking name skirting fresh lows is Twitter. The company behind the short-form social platform is in a funk, and even the initial 10% pop that the stock experienced after its CEO stepped down late last month proved fleeting. As of Thursday's close, Twitter is also now just 5% above the fresh low it hit two weeks ago.
\n
The platform is working. Its daily active users have grown 13% over the past year to 211 million. Ad revenue is growing even faster, and that 41% surge is a testament to both Twitter's engagement and its ability to milk more money out of every user. New leadership should help it continue to evolve, and the recent rollout of premium features for those willing to pay a little to improve the experience should get Twitter moving in the right direction again before long.
\n
Toast
\n
Running a restaurant has changed dramatically just in the past couple of years, and Toast is the no-brainer cloud-based platform that keeps eateries on top of all of the trending revenue streams. It's a one-stop shop for restaurant needs. On the consumer-facing end, it helps process mobile ordering for take-out, manage incoming sales from third-party delivery services, and naturally serve as the point-of-sale for in-restaurant dining. It also helps run customer loyalty programs to keep regulars coming back.
\n
Toast does even more on the enterprise end, tackling everything from payroll to inventory management. There are a lot of stocks struggling outside of the bellwethers that are heavily weighted in the market gauges, and we're not just talking about small and obscure names.\nDisney (NYSE:DIS), Twitter (NYSE:TWTR), and Toast (NYSE:TOST) are all trading within 10% of their 52-week lows. They are market leaders, but investors just aren't feeling the love for the entertainment powerhouse, the social media kingmaker, and the toast of the town in restaurant tech. Let's see why these are three promising ideas for the next $5,000 you want to invest in the market.\nDisney\nDisney's theme parks call themselves the happiest or merriest places on Earth, but shareholders aren't feeling the same way these days. The media maven's stock is less than 5% away from the 52-week low it hit earlier this month.\nIt's pretty surprising to see Disney as a market laggard this year. It's the dominant theme park operator and film studio on the planet, making it a clear beneficiary of the reopening of the economy in 2021. Unfortunately for shareholders, things are never as easy as they seem. Disney+ subscriber growth has slowed recently, and that's problematic since the platform for premium streaming video was the major reason for Disney climbing in 2020.\nDisney near 52-week lows is still a sobering development. The theme parks continue to draw. The top movies this year are largely Disney's handiwork. Even its cruise lines are finally sailing again. The weight of the world may be on beleaguered CEO Bob Chapek's shoulders, but it's a small world after all.\nTwitter\nAnother shocking name skirting fresh lows is Twitter. The company behind the short-form social platform is in a funk, and even the initial 10% pop that the stock experienced after its CEO stepped down late last month proved fleeting. As of Thursday's close, Twitter is also now just 5% above the fresh low it hit two weeks ago.\nThe platform is working. Its daily active users have grown 13% over the past year to 211 million. Ad revenue is growing even faster, and that 41% surge is a testament to both Twitter's engagement and its ability to milk more money out of every user. New leadership should help it continue to evolve, and the recent rollout of premium features for those willing to pay a little to improve the experience should get Twitter moving in the right direction again before long.\nToast\nRunning a restaurant has changed dramatically just in the past couple of years, and Toast is the no-brainer cloud-based platform that keeps eateries on top of all of the trending revenue streams. It's a one-stop shop for restaurant needs. On the consumer-facing end, it helps process mobile ordering for take-out, manage incoming sales from third-party delivery services, and naturally serve as the point-of-sale for in-restaurant dining. It also helps run customer loyalty programs to keep regulars coming back.\nToast does even more on the enterprise end, tackling everything from payroll to inventory management. With chains and independent concepts emerging smarter out of the pandemic than they were before, the company simplifies the necessary functions of an eatery in the new normal.\nDespite stellar growth -- revenue has soared 105% through the first nine months of this year -- the recent IPO hit an all-time low on Wednesday. It may be causing indigestion for investors who chased the new stock when it popped to double today's price by early November, but right now it feels more like a dinner Price","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1120047068","media":"Seeking Alpha","summary":"Summary\n\nTesla is a Reddit darling, but coverage has peaked, which generally precedes a price fall.\n","content":"
Summary
\n
\n
Tesla is a Reddit darling, but coverage has peaked, which generally precedes a price fall.
\n
Elon Musk is famously aware of and actively follows the popular subreddit WallStreetBets and may leverage that following to drive the Tesla share price higher.
\n
WallStreetBets is made up of 11.2m members and growing, mostly retail traders, who are unpredictable in their mob mentality.
\n
\n
RichVintage/E+ via Getty Images
\n
Meme Stock Mentions As An Indicator
\n
I have a theory that the only reason Musk's Tesla (TSLA) has achieved the eye watering market capitalisation of $1.141T, with a P/E ratio of 368, is because Elon Musk himself is a master of PR and marketing.
\n
Core to this theory is that supply and demand is what drives a share's price (whereas fundamental and perceived value is what drives the individual investor to buy or sell), and demand can be manipulated through awareness and PR efforts. I believe prices will revert back to fundamental value in the long run.
\n
I argue that this awareness effect applies more to retail investors than to more sophisticated investors or investment funds, though this would obviously have a flow-on effect on them.
\n
A more traditional example of this theory is how news and announcements affect share prices, albeit they are more closely tied to fundamental value.
\n
Subreddit WallStreetBets As A Catalyst
\n
The Reddit Community WallStreetBets (WSB) is infamous for its role in the January 2021 GameStop saga, which led to a huge price increase in the retail firm's share price after the Reddit community popularised day trading of the firm.
\n
WSB is a community of mostly retail traders, some with no formal investing education or prior experience, and utilising margin loans through trading apps like Robinhood (though more experienced traders are present and active in the subreddit) to invest in the financial markets.
\n
The GameStop saga may be (mostly) over now, but this community is still thriving. At the time of the GameStop saga, the community had less than 3m members, while today it has over 11.2m members.
\n
Given the almost 4X growth in community size thanks to the amount of attention generated in the GameStop saga, it's arguable that the community is more powerful than ever before in the day trading space.
\n
The Elon Musk/WSB Connection
\n
Musk is famously aware of, and following, the WSB subreddit, once tweeting to his 43m followers a link to the subreddit with the caption \"Gamestonk.\"
\n
Musk has also claimed that short sellers have a negative impact on the valuation of TSLA, and it's not hard to imagine how he might see WSB as a tool to affect the share price.
\n
Musk is regarded as a hero by the WSB community, who are very aware that he follows them, and often post memes or comments in a worshipful manner, declaring him a \"Meme Lord.\"
\n
Tracking WSB Community Sentiment
\n
Thanks to a site called Swaggy Stocks, we are able to track WSB sentiment towards TSLA and count TSLA mentions (and various other firms that get attention on the subreddit, such as the infamous GameStop (GME) short squeeze).
\n
If we take a look at a 1-year history of the TSLA share price vs WSB mentions and sentiment, a cursory glance reveals a general correlation between mentions and upward price activity.
\n
Source: Swaggy Stocks
\n
Another clear trend is the overwhelming positive sentiment towards TSLA (and almost any other stock mentioned there) from the WSB community. Search many of these comments and posts, and you'll see the phrase \"Stonks only go up!\" appear across many, many posts.
\n
Do Other Mediums Have The Same Correlation?
\n
Swaggy Stocks also tracks TSLA mentions across more traditional news sources and other social media sites.
\n
Searching social media for discussion and due-diligence style posts, Swaggy Stocks is able to show the total number of mentions TSLA generates, to compare with WSB.
\n
Source: Swaggy Stocks
\n
There appears to be a very similar correlation between broader social media mentions of TSLA and stock price activity, but it appears that this attention is reactionary rather than a lead indicator. But more significant interest could have a life changing short term impact on current shareholders as the value of their portfolio balloons thanks to retail traders taking an interest in one of their holdings.
\n
On the other hand, short sellers (such as those shorting GME earlier this year) could feel substantial pain, as their positions require covering at ever increasing prices.
\n
If I was to place a value on it, I would suggest adjusting price targets by as much as 2X current price if a firm were to see significant interest through WSB - but this is tempered by the expectation that long term, the stock would return to its fundamental value.
\n
If you're holding TSLA shares, it appears the music has stopped over at WSB, and prices may fall back to around $700 in the coming weeks.
\n
In short, if your holding becomes a 'meme stock', take 2X your money and run - things are about to get volatile.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; I believe prices will revert back to fundamental value in the long run.\nI argue that this awareness effect applies more to retail investors than to more sophisticated investors or investment funds, though this would obviously have a flow-on effect on them.\nA more traditional example of this theory is how news and announcements affect share prices, albeit they are more closely tied to fundamental value.\nSubreddit WallStreetBets As A Catalyst\nThe Reddit Community WallStreetBets (WSB) is infamous for its role in the January 2021 GameStop saga, which led to a huge price increase in the retail firm's share price after the Reddit community popularised day trading of the firm.\nWSB is a community of mostly retail traders, some with no formal investing education or prior experience, and utilising margin loans through trading apps like Robinhood (though more experienced traders are present and active in the subreddit) to invest in the financial markets.\nThe GameStop saga may be (mostly) over now, but this community is still thriving. At the time of the GameStop saga, the community had less than 3m members, while today it has over 11.2m members.\nGiven the almost 4X growth in community size thanks to the amount of attention generated in the GameStop saga, it's arguable that the community is more powerful than ever before in the day trading space.\nThe Elon Musk/WSB Connection\nMusk is famously aware of, and following, the WSB subreddit, once tweeting to his 43m followers a link to the subreddit with the caption \"Gamestonk.\"\nMusk has also claimed that short sellers have a negative impact on the valuation of TSLA, and it's not hard to imagine how he might see WSB as a tool to affect the share price.\nMusk is regarded as a hero by the WSB community, who are very aware that he follows them, and often post memes or comments in a worshipful manner, declaring him a \"Meme Lord.\"\nTracking WSB Community Sentiment\nThanks to a site called Swaggy Stocks, we are able to track WSB sentiment towards TSLA and count TSLA mentions (and various other firms that get attention on the subreddit, such as the infamous GameStop (GME) short squeeze).\nIf we take a look at a 1-year history of the TSLA share price vs WSB mentions and sentiment, a cursory glance reveals a general correlation between mentions and upward price activity.\nSource: Swaggy Stocks\nAnother clear trend is the overwhelming positive sentiment towards TSLA (and almost any other stock mentioned there) from the WSB community. Search many of these comments and posts, and you'll see the phrase \"Stonks only go up!\" appear across many, many posts.\nDo Other Mediums Have The Same Correlation?\nSwaggy Stocks also tracks TSLA mentions across more traditional news sources and other social media sites.\nSearching social media for discussion and due-diligence style posts, Swaggy Stocks is able to show the total number of mentions TSLA generates, to compare with WSB.\nSource: Swaggy Stocks\nThere appears to be a very similar correlation between broader social media mentions of TSLA and stock price activity, but it appears that this attention is reactionary rather than a lead indicator. It is, however, a confirmation of awareness of the stock following along with major price movements, up or down.\nWhat Trends Can We See?\nLooking at the two graphs of mentions vs stock price, the most prominent trend is how TSLA mentions, and discussion peaks mostly as major price spikes occur. It does not appear that mentions are a leading indicator, but perhaps a slow-down in mentions might indicate that any further major price movements are not to be expected.\nIn my eyes, the more interesting time period (circled in red below) is where mentions of TSLA slowed considerably, and the stock price dwindled following the peak in mentions.\nI argue that in this instance, when the stock fell from $900 to $600, WSB retail investors attention was diverted from the firm and this halted the upward price movement, sending the stock backward towards it's true long-run fundamental value.\nSource: Swaggy Stocks\nDoes This Awareness Effect Apply To Other Stocks?\nGiven GME was the beginning of notoriety for WSB, it's worth comparing the GME ticker to WSB sentiment to search for similar trends.\nAgain, large price movements occur around the same time as WSB commentary spikes, and prices tend to drift lower as attention drifts away.\nSource: Swaggy Stocks\nLooking at a third firm, Apple (AAPL), to compare WSB activity with the largest market cap firm in the US, the correlation between mentions and price activity is much weaker, suggesting that there may be a limit to the WSB community's influence. While activity still follows price movements, there is also the possibility WSB is just simply not as interested in AAPL as it is in TSLA or GME.\nSource: Swaggy Stocks\nThe Investment View: Results May Vary\nI would argue that WSB is not perhaps a leading indicator, but it does play a part in stock awareness and encourages new investors to enter the market.\nI would also argue that 11.2m retail investors is certainly a force to be reckoned with and worth paying attention to - perhaps not a guidance of which stock will boom next but rather which ones are overpriced or have peaked.\nOverall, there's a strong sense that stocks that receive attention from WSB undergo price volatility, and do drift back to their long-run fundamental value given enough time.\nPerhaps it's a case of, if WSB is promoting the stock, you're already too late.\nSo What Does This Mean For TSLA?\nComing full circle back to TSLA, and reviewing their WSB sentiment chart, I feel there is strong argument to be made that the stock is over-priced due to the presence of retail traders.\nHowever, monitoring WSB activity may give investors a helpful indicator of when TSLA may be about to experience a price correction as retail investor's attention is drawn away from the firm.\nWith that said, Elon Musk remains a variable worth watching given his awareness of the subreddit and its effect on the market, and he has the platform to drive attention back onto TSLA as he sees fit.\nThe Value Of A Mention\nIt's hard to place a quantifiable value on what a mention on WSB is worth to a firm, as individually they are probably worth close to $0. But more significant interest could have a life changing short term impact on current shareholders as the value of their portfolio balloons thanks to retail traders taking an interest in one of their holdings.\nOn the other hand, short sellers (such as those shorting GME earlier this year) could feel substantial pain, as their positions require covering at ever increasing prices.\nIf I was to place a value on it, I would suggest adjusting price targets by as much as 2X current price if a firm were to see significant interest through WSB - but this is tempered by the expectation that long term, the stock would return to its fundamental value.\nIf you're holding TSLA shares, it appears the music has stopped over at WSB, and prices may fall back to around $700 in the coming weeks.\nIn short, if your holding becomes a 'meme stock', take 2X your money and run - things are about to get volatile.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":323,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":872750132,"gmtCreate":1637578883199,"gmtModify":1637578883253,"author":{"id":"3574473872581076","authorId":"3574473872581076","name":"Greta_Thurn","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6dd96468dba993d48c94e50600bbe684","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"FUD news","listText":"FUD news","text":"FUD news","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/872750132","repostId":"2185826772","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"2185826772","pubTimestamp":1637573760,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2185826772?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-11-22 17:36","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Is the Stock Market Going to Crash Again?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2185826772","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"The next market crash is inevitable. Prepare while you can.","content":"
The market will crash again. That is inevitable. The only real question is when will it happen?
\n
Let's be clear: there are lots of reasons to believe the market could crash soon. Skyrocketing inflation , stretched valuations , and a critical labor shortage each could pose risks to the market on their own. Put them all together in a situation like we have today, and the danger certainly seems to multiply.
\n
Just because the market could crash soon doesn't mean it will, however. If it somehow manages to keep climbing, would you really want to be sitting on the sidelines, watching the purchasing power of your money evaporate to inflation?
\n
That combination of factors makes now one of the toughest times in most of our investing lifetimes to know what the best course of action should be. That might actually mean that there is no single best path forward and that the right approach could be to build a balance across the five options discussed here.
\n
No. 1: Get out of (expensive) debt
\n
If the market's massive run has left you in the position where you could pay off your debts, maybe that provides a good opportunity to actually do so. If not your entire debt burden, perhaps you could pay off everything but your fixed-rate, low interest mortgage?
\n
It might seem crazy to pay off debt when interest rates are so low and the market has seen such huge recent rises, but that could very well be the best time to do so. After all, if interest rates rise, that could both increase your debt service costs and cause at least some of your stocks to drop, catching you with a double-whammy. When you add in the fact your debt service costs need to be paid even if your stocks are way down, you get a situation where reducing or eliminating debt looks like a smart move.
\n
No. 2: Build a cash buffer
\n
In a world where inflation is running over 6%, having a lot of cash sitting around earning less than 1% might seem crazy. When viewed only on that basis, it is. When you recognize that market crashes and job losses often go hand in hand, having a decent cash buffer can be viewed as an insurance policy. At least for a little while, it can keep you from being forced to sell at the low due to lost income and buy you time to find alternatives.
\n
That said, with inflation running as hot as it is and cash returns failing to keep up, it might not be a good idea to hold too much cash. As a result, consider the standard guidance of three-to-six months' worth of basic living expenses as a reasonable \"goldilocks\" target.
\n
No. 3: Plan for the big expenses coming your way soon
\n
As a general rule, money you expect to spend within the next five years does not belong in stocks. If you have a big purchase coming up in that time window -- say a new car, a child's college education, or a bucket list vacation -- a market sitting near all-time highs can give you a great opportunity to sell.
\n
It's OK to sell enough stock to cover the costs of what you're buying in that window and any taxes you'll owe on your stock sale. Then, put the remaining money in something like a CD or Treasury or investment grade bonds that mature just before you'll need the money.
\n
No, you won't make stupendously high returns on that money, but you will also sleep more soundly knowing that a mere market crash won't automatically derail your near-term plans for that cash.
\n
No. 4: Know a decent estimate of the value of what you own
\n
Ultimately, stocks are nothing more than fractional ownership stakes in companies. Yes, their market prices can rise or fall a whole bunch in a very short period of time, but in the long run, stocks are tied to the cash generating capability of the businesses behind those shares.
\n
Using the discounted cash flow model and reasonable projections for the future of the company, you can estimate what that fair value would be. You can easily adjust your assumptions for a more aggressive growth future or a more pessimistic one as well, to get a feel for a range of potential values. You can then compare your model with the market's price and use that to inform your buy, sell, or hold decisions.
\n
If a company you own is priced so high by the market that even your most aggressive estimates for its future can't keep up, then it might be a good idea to sell it. On the flip side, if a company you own is available for such a dirt cheap price that even your pessimistic estimate is above the market's price for it, you might want to consider buying even more.
\n
The beauty of the discounted cash flow model is that it can help you make those buy/sell/hold decisions regardless of what the overall market is doing. As a result, it can help you both prepare for a crash by figuring out which companies to consider selling and invest through a crash by figuring out which ones are the biggest bargains worthy of buying.
\n
No. 5: Invest with the long term in mind
\n
With the first three options, you've taken great steps to protect yourself against many of the short term disruptions that can come from market crashes. With the fourth option, you've given yourself a tool to make smarter investing decisions around the time of a crash. Together, they free you up to truly have a long-term perspective when you invest in stocks.
\n
That long-term perspective is important because it provides the foundation of the biggest advantage you have against Wall Street: your patience. With a long-term perspective, the rest of your financial house in order, and decent valuations at your disposal, you can stay invested during and after a crash. That is absolutely key to being invested during any subsequent recovery, which is where the next round of wealth can be built.
\n
Get ready now for the next crash
\n
None of us really know when the next stock market crash will happen, but we can be pretty sure that there will be another one headed our way. With the market near all-time highs and so many very clear economic risks in front of us, now could be a great time to make the adjustments you need to get prepared for that crash.
\n
By balancing the tools you need to survive the next crash with a long term perspective for the money you're able to keep invested, you can be prepared no matter when that crash takes place. That is inevitable. The only real question is when will it happen?\nLet's be clear: there are lots of reasons to believe the market could crash soon. Skyrocketing inflation , stretched valuations , and a critical labor shortage each could pose risks to the market on their own. Put them all together in a situation like we have today, and the danger certainly seems to multiply.\nJust because the market could crash soon doesn't mean it will, however. If it somehow manages to keep climbing, would you really want to be sitting on the sidelines, watching the purchasing power of your money evaporate to inflation?\nThat combination of factors makes now one of the toughest times in most of our investing lifetimes to know what the best course of action should be. That might actually mean that there is no single best path forward and that the right approach could be to build a balance across the five options discussed here.\nNo. 1: Get out of (expensive) debt\nIf the market's massive run has left you in the position where you could pay off your debts, maybe that provides a good opportunity to actually do so. If not your entire debt burden, perhaps you could pay off everything but your fixed-rate, low interest mortgage?\nIt might seem crazy to pay off debt when interest rates are so low and the market has seen such huge recent rises, but that could very well be the best time to do so. After all, if interest rates rise, that could both increase your debt service costs and cause at least some of your stocks to drop, catching you with a double-whammy. When you add in the fact your debt service costs need to be paid even if your stocks are way down, you get a situation where reducing or eliminating debt looks like a smart move.\nNo. 2: Build a cash buffer\nIn a world where inflation is running over 6%, having a lot of cash sitting around earning less than 1% might seem crazy. When viewed only on that basis, it is. When you recognize that market crashes and job losses often go hand in hand, having a decent cash buffer can be viewed as an insurance policy. At least for a little while, it can keep you from being forced to sell at the low due to lost income and buy you time to find alternatives.\nThat said, with inflation running as hot as it is and cash returns failing to keep up, it might not be a good idea to hold too much cash. As a result, consider the standard guidance of three-to-six months' worth of basic living expenses as a reasonable \"goldilocks\" target.\nNo. 3: Plan for the big expenses coming your way soon\nAs a general rule, money you expect to spend within the next five years does not belong in stocks. If you have a big purchase coming up in that time window -- say a new car, a child's college education, or a bucket list vacation -- a market sitting near all-time highs can give you a great opportunity to sell.\nIt's OK to sell enough stock to cover the costs of what you're buying in that window and any taxes you'll owe on your stock sale. Then, put the remaining money in something like a CD or Treasury or investment grade bonds that mature just before you'll need the money.\nNo, you won't make stupendously high returns on that money, but you will also sleep more soundly knowing that a mere market crash won't automatically derail your near-term plans for that cash.\nNo. 4: Know a decent estimate of the value of what you own\nUltimately, stocks are nothing more than fractional ownership stakes in companies. Yes, their market prices can rise or fall a whole bunch in a very short period of time, but in the long run, stocks are tied to the cash generating capability of the businesses behind those shares.\nUsing the discounted cash flow model and reasonable projections for the future of the company, you can estimate what that fair value would be. You can easily adjust your assumptions for a more aggressive growth future or a more pessimistic one as well, to get a feel for a range of potential values. You can then compare your model with the market's price and use that to inform your buy, sell, or hold decisions.\nIf a company you own is priced so high by the market that even your most aggressive estimates for its future can't keep up, then it might be a good idea to sell it. On the flip side, if a company you own is available for such a dirt cheap price that even your pessimistic estimate is above the market's price for it, you might want to consider buying even more.\nThe beauty of the discounted cash flow model is that it can help you make those buy/sell/hold decisions regardless of what the overall market is doing. As a result, it can help you both prepare for a crash by figuring out which companies to consider selling and invest through a crash by figuring out which ones are the biggest bargains worthy of buying.\nNo. 5: Invest with the long term in mind\nWith the first three options, you've taken great steps to protect yourself against many of the short term disruptions that can come from market crashes. With the fourth option, you've given yourself a tool to make smarter investing decisions around the time of a crash. Together, they free you up to truly have a long-term perspective when you invest in stocks.\nThat long-term perspective is important because it provides the foundation of the biggest advantage you have against Wall Street: your patience. With a long-term perspective, the rest of your financial house in order, and decent valuations at your disposal, you can stay invested during and after a crash. That is absolutely key to being invested during any subsequent recovery, which is where the next round of wealth can be built.\nGet ready now for the next crash\nNone of us really know when the next stock market crash will happen, but we can be pretty sure that there will be another one headed our way. With the market near all-time highs and so many very clear economic risks in front of us, now could be a great time to make the adjustments you need to get prepared for that crash.\nBy balancing the tools you need to survive the next crash with a long term perspective for the money you're able to keep invested, you can be prepared no matter when that crash takes place. Get yourself ready now, and you will have the advantage of being ready before it happens, rather than trying to clean up after the fact.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":407,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":872050229,"gmtCreate":1637378558173,"gmtModify":1637378558303,"author":{"id":"3574473872581076","authorId":"3574473872581076","name":"Greta_Thurn","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6dd96468dba993d48c94e50600bbe684","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Lucid Group Inc(LCID)$chump change [Cry] ","listText":"$Lucid Group Inc(LCID)$chump change [Cry] ","text":"$Lucid Group Inc(LCID)$chump change [Cry]","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1c0aaa319e9c76254489322d543d2371","width":"874","height":"1515"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/872050229","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":407,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":876549718,"gmtCreate":1637334271888,"gmtModify":1637334272020,"author":{"id":"3574473872581076","authorId":"3574473872581076","name":"Greta_Thurn","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6dd96468dba993d48c94e50600bbe684","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nothing more than just a fantasy dream.","listText":"Nothing more than just a fantasy dream.","text":"Nothing more than just a fantasy dream.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/876549718","repostId":"2184981058","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"2184981058","pubTimestamp":1637320086,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2184981058?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-11-19 19:08","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Metaverse Stocks That Could Set You Up for Life","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2184981058","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"This virtual world could be a bigger deal than you think.","content":"
Key Points
\n
\n
This chipmaker will provide the horsepower necessary to power the metaverse.
\n
Another metaverse company is bucking the \"reopening\" trend with strong user growth and engagement.
\n
The virtual universe could host as many as 1 billion users over the next decade.
\n
\n
Talk regarding the coming metaverse has reached a fever pitch in recent months. In the latest development, Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:FB) -- the company formerly known as Facebook -- changed its name to highlight its focus. But what exactly is the metaverse and how can investors profit?
\n
Simply put, the metaverse is a virtual world that will harness the power of a collection of nascent technologies, including augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and video, and allow users to interact in a digital world. While this might seem like so much science fiction, many of the elements are already in place and companies are racing to stake their claim in this brave new world.
\n
Investors are always looking for the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of the next big trend, and the metaverse could provide one such opportunity. Let's look at three companies well-positioned to benefit from this evolving trend, which could make investors a fortune in the process.
\n
\n
Nvidia: Underpinning the metaverse
\n
There's little question that Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) has already been a boon to shareholders in recent years. The designer of graphics processing units (GPUs) is the undisputed leader in the space, with a dominant 83% share in the discrete desktop GPU market.
\n
Parallel processing -- the ability to run a multitude of complex mathematical calculations at lightning-fast speeds -- not only helps render lifelike images in video games, but has also made GPUs a staple for building artificial intelligence (AI) systems and moving data in cloud computing systems and data centers. It also enables groundbreaking technology in self-driving cars.
\n
This has helped the stock climb more than 130% over the preceding 12 months and deliver a staggering 8,800% gain in the past decade. Investors might be surprised to learn this could be just the beginning.
\n
Nvidia GPUs underpin many of the technological advancements necessary to bring the metaverse to life. Using the same technology the creates life-like images in video games, these semiconductors perform a similar function in the digital realm.
\n
The company continues to produce stunning growth even as the metaverse moves from the drawing board to reality. In the third quarter, Nvidia delivered revenue that grew 50% year over year, which doesn't even include the massive opportunity the metaverse has to offer.
\n
Nvidia generated revenue of $6.7 million last year, but that pales in comparison to the company's total addressable market (TAM), which management estimates at $250 billion by 2023.
\n
Powering the metaverse will only expand Nvidia's already massive opportunity, adding another $10 billion target market over the coming five years.
\n
\n
Roblox: A budding metaverse
\n
If the metaverse is a virtual world where users build homes, work, and play, then Roblox (NYSE:RBLX) already has a head start. The online entertainment platform allows users to build, explore, and create video games and 3D digital worlds.
\n
Well-known musicians host listening parties and perform virtual concerts for their users and Roblox was named to Time's inaugural list of the Time100 Most Influential Companies, which are \"making an extraordinary impact around the world.\"
\n
One example of how users interact with Roblox's digital realm is the recently introduced \"Vans World.\" The shoe and apparel company focused on action sports sponsored a virtual space dedicated to its products. The immersive experience allowed users to \"go skateboarding, check out the shop, [and] see what new items Vans had for sale.\" Users can even browse and buy physical items. This provides just a glimpse of the vast digital worlds that Roblox could create.
\n
Roblox's third-quarter earnings bucked the common \"reopening\" narrative, which posited that companies that thrived during the pandemic were due for a correction. Revenue of $509 million increased 102% year over year, while bookings of $638 million increased 28%. While the company's net loss expanded by 52%, its free cash flow increased 7% to $171 million.
\n
Daily active users (DAUs) of 47.3 million climbed 31% year over year, while hours of engagement of 11.2 billion climbed 28%. This illustrates that not only is Roblox attracting new users, but existing players are highly engaged. The growing user base attracts more developers, creating a virtuous cycle.
\n
Roblox generated revenue of roughly $924 million in 2020, but management estimates put its market opportunity at $600 billion, which suggests a vast opportunity remains.
\n
With a budding metaverse of its own, Roblox may well have a jump on the competition.
\n
\n
Meta Platforms: All-in on the metaverse
\n
No discussion regarding the metaverse would be complete without the inclusion of Meta Platforms. The company formerly known as Facebook signaled it was going all-in on the metaverse with its recent and highly publicized name change.
\n
Late last month, at a keynote address at the company's developer conference, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said, \"From now on we are going to be metaverse first, not Facebook.\" Moving forward, Meta is turning its focus to building products and services that will usher in the era of the metaverse, describing it as, \"the next evolution of social connection ... [where] you'll be able to socialize, learn, collaborate and play in ways that go beyond what's possible today.\" Zuckerberg goes further, positing that there could be as many as 1 billion people joining the metaverse over the next 10 years.
\n
Meta Platforms has already invested in a number of products that could eventually act as a gateway to the metaverse. The Oculus virtual reality headset, Smart sunglasses in collaboration with Ray-Ban, and the Portal video-chatting device are likely just the beginning. Facebook Reality Labs is working on haptic gloves that could help users \"feel\" virtual objects in the metaverse.
\n
The company's social media platforms, led by Facebook, will provide Meta Platforms with the capital it needs to usher in this change. In the third quarter, revenue of $29 billion grew 35% year over year -- even as the specter of privacy reforms rolled out by Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) hung over the proceedings. Even in the midst of those headwinds, Meta generated more than $9.1 billion in net income and $9.5 billion in free cash flow, giving it plenty of resources to pursue its virtual aspirations.
\n
Virtual worlds = real opportunity
\n
Make no mistake: While the metaverse is still largely conceptual, it's coming and the opportunity is vast. Morgan Stanley analyst Brian Nowak believes the metaverse represents an $8 trillion addressable market, and companies are scrambling to stake their claim.
\n
Each of these businesses represents an early mover working to create the coming metaverse and while its full potential is still years away, these companies are setting the stage, which could make investors a fortune over the coming decade.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; While this might seem like so much science fiction, many of the elements are already in place and companies are racing to stake their claim in this brave new world.\nInvestors are always looking for the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of the next big trend, and the metaverse could provide one such opportunity. Let's look at three companies well-positioned to benefit from this evolving trend, which could make investors a fortune in the process.\nIMAGE SOURCE: GETTY IMAGES.\nNvidia: Underpinning the metaverse\nThere's little question that Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) has already been a boon to shareholders in recent years. The designer of graphics processing units (GPUs) is the undisputed leader in the space, with a dominant 83% share in the discrete desktop GPU market.\nParallel processing -- the ability to run a multitude of complex mathematical calculations at lightning-fast speeds -- not only helps render lifelike images in video games, but has also made GPUs a staple for building artificial intelligence (AI) systems and moving data in cloud computing systems and data centers. It also enables groundbreaking technology in self-driving cars.\nThis has helped the stock climb more than 130% over the preceding 12 months and deliver a staggering 8,800% gain in the past decade. Investors might be surprised to learn this could be just the beginning.\nNvidia GPUs underpin many of the technological advancements necessary to bring the metaverse to life. Using the same technology the creates life-like images in video games, these semiconductors perform a similar function in the digital realm.\nThe company continues to produce stunning growth even as the metaverse moves from the drawing board to reality. In the third quarter, Nvidia delivered revenue that grew 50% year over year, which doesn't even include the massive opportunity the metaverse has to offer.\nNvidia generated revenue of $6.7 million last year, but that pales in comparison to the company's total addressable market (TAM), which management estimates at $250 billion by 2023.\nPowering the metaverse will only expand Nvidia's already massive opportunity, adding another $10 billion target market over the coming five years.\nIMAGE SOURCE: GETTY IMAGES.\nRoblox: A budding metaverse\nIf the metaverse is a virtual world where users build homes, work, and play, then Roblox (NYSE:RBLX) already has a head start. The online entertainment platform allows users to build, explore, and create video games and 3D digital worlds.\nWell-known musicians host listening parties and perform virtual concerts for their users and Roblox was named to Time's inaugural list of the Time100 Most Influential Companies, which are \"making an extraordinary impact around the world.\"\nOne example of how users interact with Roblox's digital realm is the recently introduced \"Vans World.\" The shoe and apparel company focused on action sports sponsored a virtual space dedicated to its products. The immersive experience allowed users to \"go skateboarding, check out the shop, [and] see what new items Vans had for sale.\" Users can even browse and buy physical items. This provides just a glimpse of the vast digital worlds that Roblox could create.\nRoblox's third-quarter earnings bucked the common \"reopening\" narrative, which posited that companies that thrived during the pandemic were due for a correction. Revenue of $509 million increased 102% year over year, while bookings of $638 million increased 28%. While the company's net loss expanded by 52%, its free cash flow increased 7% to $171 million.\nDaily active users (DAUs) of 47.3 million climbed 31% year over year, while hours of engagement of 11.2 billion climbed 28%. This illustrates that not only is Roblox attracting new users, but existing players are highly engaged. The growing user base attracts more developers, creating a virtuous cycle.\nRoblox generated revenue of roughly $924 million in 2020, but management estimates put its market opportunity at $600 billion, which suggests a vast opportunity remains.\nWith a budding metaverse of its own, Roblox may well have a jump on the competition.\nIMAGE SOURCE: GETTY IMAGES.\nMeta Platforms: All-in on the metaverse\nNo discussion regarding the metaverse would be complete without the inclusion of Meta Platforms. The company formerly known as Facebook signaled it was going all-in on the metaverse with its recent and highly publicized name change.\nLate last month, at a keynote address at the company's developer conference, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said, \"From now on we are going to be metaverse first, not Facebook.\" Moving forward, Meta is turning its focus to building products and services that will usher in the era of the metaverse, describing it as, \"the next evolution of social connection ... [where] you'll be able to socialize, learn, collaborate and play in ways that go beyond what's possible today.\" Zuckerberg goes further, positing that there could be as many as 1 billion people joining the metaverse over the next 10 years.\nMeta Platforms has already invested in a number of products that could eventually act as a gateway to the metaverse. The Oculus virtual reality headset, Smart sunglasses in collaboration with Ray-Ban, and the Portal video-chatting device are likely just the beginning. Facebook Reality Labs is working on haptic gloves that could help users \"feel\" virtual objects in the metaverse.\nThe company's social media platforms, led by Facebook, will provide Meta Platforms with the capital it needs to usher in this change. In the third quarter, revenue of $29 billion grew 35% year over year -- even as the specter of privacy reforms rolled out by Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) hung over the proceedings. Even in the midst of those headwinds, Meta generated more than $9.1 billion in net income and $9.5 billion in free cash flow, giving it plenty of resources to pursue its virtual aspirations.\nVirtual worlds = real opportunity\nMake no mistake: While the metaverse is still largely conceptual, it's coming and the opportunity is vast. Morgan Stanley analyst Brian Nowak believes the metaverse represents an $8 trillion addressable market, and companies are scrambling to stake their claim.\nEach of these businesses represents an early mover working to create the coming metaverse and while its full potential is still years away, these companies are setting the stage, which could make investors a fortune over the coming decade.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":499,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":870910170,"gmtCreate":1636572498080,"gmtModify":1636572498137,"author":{"id":"3574473872581076","authorId":"3574473872581076","name":"Greta_Thurn","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6dd96468dba993d48c94e50600bbe684","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"<a market crash is inevitable.
Get yourself ready now, and you will have the advantage of being ready before it happens, rather than trying to clean up after the fact.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Is the Stock Market Going to Crash Again?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nIs the Stock Market Going to Crash Again?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-11-22 17:36 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
The market will crash again. Get yourself ready now, and you will have the advantage of being ready before it happens, rather than trying to clean up after the fact.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":407,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":699268168,"gmtCreate":1639813552314,"gmtModify":1639813552744,"author":{"id":"3574473872581076","authorId":"3574473872581076","name":"Greta_Thurn","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6dd96468dba993d48c94e50600bbe684","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"lol shill news","listText":"lol shill news","text":"lol shill news","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/699268168","repostId":"2192754259","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2192754259","pubTimestamp":1639811460,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2192754259?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-12-18 15:11","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Got $5,000?
With chains and independent concepts emerging smarter out of the pandemic than they were before, the company simplifies the necessary functions of an eatery in the new normal.
\n
Despite stellar growth -- revenue has soared 105% through the first nine months of this year -- the recent IPO hit an all-time low on Wednesday. It may be causing indigestion for investors who chased the new stock when it popped to double today's price by early November, but right now it feels more like a dinner bell.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Got $5,000?
