He would now be very busy, as many ominous events are bounding across the world’s stage.\nThefall of Afghanistanis a potentially destabilizing market event, especially ahead of the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the U.S.\nThe resurgence of Covid-19, weakening retail sales, China saber-rattling toward Taiwan, China mocking America’s sloppy Afghanistan withdrawal, andsigns of sticky inflationare all reasons for extra vigilance.\nBut the major event that would most alarm our hero would be the Federal Reserve’smeeting in Jackson Hole, Wyo., at the end of the month. Jerome Powell, the Fed’s chairman, is expected to speak. He is the big, bad wolf of this reimagined story.\nPowell’s speech might offer concrete clues about potential changes to monetary policy—which could pummel stocks.\nWhen interest rates are low, as they are now, investors can move far out on the so-called risk curve. It’s cheap to borrow money and thus relatively easy to make money doing something as simple asbuying dividend-paying stocksand as complex as quantitative trading. With rates low enough, even Bitcoin and emerging market debt can be attractive.\nYet this time, even if the boy who cried wolf is wrong, investors need to be aware that many others will be listening to himahead of expected changes to interest rates.\nStock prices are generally dancing around record highs—a phrase used in this column year after year—as historically low interest rates remain the central defining fact of the market.\nBut it seems that the more investors talk about corrections, or why corrections won’t happen, the bearish narrative prevails, at least for a bit.\nExpectations that something will soon happen to easy-money rates are leading to a burst of hedging activity.\nOne major investor has created a bearish position in theSPDR S&P 500exchange-traded fund (ticker: SPY) that would prove profitable if the stock market fell about 4% by Sept. 3. The investor sold 25,000 September $427 put options and bought 25,000 $440 puts, all expiring on Sept. 3, to cover the Fed’s Jackson Hole symposium from Aug. 26 to Aug. 28.\nThis column has rarely offered a suggestion to hedge portfolios. It has almost always seemed better to us to sell puts to anxious investors and use the proceeds to buy upside call options to profit from stock advances.\nSimilarly, we have been hesitant to recommend stock-replacement strategies. Because low interest rates always seemed the key ingredient in the bull market, there was seldom a strategic reason for selling stocks and buying calls.\nBut now, using upside calls as stock surrogates does indeed seem attractive for anyone who thinks that rates could rise. The strategy is worth pondering for investors with substantial stock profits.\nIf this resonates, review your stocks. Sell enough shares to realize a profit of, say, 50% to 100% on your initial investment. If you sold 500 shares to lock in gains, for example, buy a corresponding number of upside calls that expire in, say, three months. This will buy you just enough time to see how the stock—and the market—performs.\nThe goal is not to be scared of wolves, and to make sure that your appetite for volatility is aligned with your investment timeline.\nSteven M. This is the opposite of how we generally think about volatility. Therefore, buying outright puts carries a risk of collapsing volatility (and therefore collapsing premiums) as the stock goes lower. So, even though the stock is moving in the intended direction, as an option holder you may not be realizing the gains expected. One way to counter high implied volatility in a stock, especially when having a bearish view, is to be a net seller of option premium. To sell to bullish option traders rather than join bearish option traders. Traditionally that might take the form of selling a Credit Call Spread. But in GME's case that means buying the (expensive) upper strike Call at a higher volatility than the Call that is closer to the money (as described above). So, one option strategy that can be considered by traders is using a Butterfly. An option trade that is more typically associated with a neutral trading view, but here adapted to actually create a targeted (bearish) directional view. Here, as an example, is a Butterfly with its center strikes focused at $80 in the stock, with a March 19th expiry:This 130/80/30 butterfly has breakevens of 115 and 45, meaning the trade is profitable if the stock is between those two prices at March 19th expiry… with a max gain occurring if the stock is at or near $80. It has the additional dynamic of being short premium, and if the stock stays within its range would see mark to market gains if implied volatility compressed.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"GME":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":546,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":387107601,"gmtCreate":1613725810803,"gmtModify":1634552493970,"author":{"id":"3573487421608628","authorId":"3573487421608628","name":"aTastyMeal","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/088bed0522dba952d79b5ae5d675972a","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3573487421608628","idStr":"3573487421608628"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hvghhhh","listText":"Hvghhhh","text":"Hvghhhh","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":1,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/387107601","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":324,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":349316631,"gmtCreate":1617541930323,"gmtModify":1634520589920,"author":{"id":"3573487421608628","authorId":"3573487421608628","name":"aTastyMeal","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/088bed0522dba952d79b5ae5d675972a","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3573487421608628","idStr":"3573487421608628"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ehdhdh","listText":"Ehdhdh","text":"Ehdhdh","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/349316631","repostId":"1176602902","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1176602902","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1617366683,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1176602902?lang=zh_CN&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-04-02 20:31","market":"us","language":"en","title":"U.S. added 916,000 jobs in March, above expectations
美国3月新增就业91.6万个,高于预期
","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1176602902","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"(April 2) Job growth boomed in March at the fastest pace since last summer as stronger economic grow","content":"
(April 2) Job growth boomed in March at the fastest pace since last summer as stronger economic growth and an aggressive vaccination effort pushed companies to step up hiring, the Labor Department reported Friday.

(4月2日)美国劳工部周五报告称,由于强劲的经济增长和积极的疫苗接种工作推动企业加大招聘力度,3月份就业增长以去年夏天以来的最快速度增长。

Nonfarm payrolls increased by 916,000 for the month while the unemployment rate fell to 6%.

当月非农就业人数增加91.6万人,失业率降至6%。

Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had been looking for an increase of 675,000 and an unemployment rate of 6%.

接受道琼斯调查的经济学家一直预计增加675,000人,失业率为6%。

The report comes amid a slew of other indicators pointing to stronger growth as the U.S. tries to shake off the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
