stock picks boost your 2022 gains?","content":"
Today, I provide five growth stocks that I think will perform well in 2022 and beyond. These stock picks cover enormous secular growth trends that should flourish over the long term.
\n
Nvidia is the first stock on the list. It's easy to see why some investors would shy away from Nvidia at these levels. The stock price has delivered over 67,000% returns since going public in 1999. A $10,000 investment would be worth approximately $6.7 million today. But the company is firing on all cylinders, and when you look under the hood, you will find that its future looks very bright, which can arguably justify the premium share price. Nvidia has its hands in nearly every secular tailwind imaginable:
\n
\n
Data centers
\n
Cloud computing
\n
Cybersecurity
\n
Space exploration
\n
Video gaming
\n
Online gambling
\n
Augmented reality (AR)
\n
Virtual reality (VR)
\n
Mixed reality (MR)
\n
Autonomous driving
\n
Electric vehicles
\n
Genomics
\n
Esports
\n
5G
\n
E-commerce
\n
Cryptocurrency
\n
Artificial intelligence (AI)
\n
Metaverse
\n
Big data
\n
\n
Tesla has made a historic run over the past couple of years, but with Elon Musk at the helm, the future still looks very bright. The company continues to grow rapidly while improving net profit margins and cash flows. The EV super cycle is just getting started, and Tesla is poised to be top dog. Not only is Tesla a top autonomous and electric vehicle manufacturer, it is, in my opinion, also the best artificial intelligence company in the world.
\n
Snowflake offers what it calls a \"data warehouse-as-a-service\" (DaaS), a cloud-based data storage and analytics solution. Think \"big data.\" Interestingly, Snowflake is not a SaaS company since its revenue is over 90% consumption based. Snowflake reduces cost and improves agility. Its data platform is unique in that it is not built on an existing big data platform. In addition to big data and analytics, I believe Snowflake is positioned well to create a unique digital advertising moat, which I discuss in detail here. I have been a fan of this stock since pre-IPO, and I have high conviction long term.
\n
Unity Software is best known for gaming. It provides tools and software to assist developers in game creation and marketing. In 2019, over 50% of the top 1,000 mobile games were created using Unity. Unity has players in 195 countries, so it's literally a global company. Unity powers billon-dollar mobile games like Pokémon Go and Angry Birds.
\n
But augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) are why I personally own the stock. Think metaverse! However, Unity is actually quite diverse in terms of its offerings and industry segments. Here are some other areas Unity works in outside of gaming:
\n
\n
Automotive, transportation, and manufacturing
\n
Film, animation, and cinematics
\n
Architecture, engineering, and construction
\n
Government and aerospace
\n
Gambling
\n
\n
UiPath (NYSE:PATH) is a global software company focused on robotic process automation, also called RPA. The company's software enables organizations to automate data entry and repetitive tasks. RPA technology makes it simple for businesses to build, deploy, and manage bots. These software robots emulate human actions and provide many benefits. Examples include:
\n
\n
Increased production times
\n
Reduction of costs
\n
Increased employee creativity and innovation
\n
Improved efficiency
\n
Increased employee happiness and retention
\n
Improved process quality
\n
Higher employee productivity
\n
Improved customer service
\n
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
5 Growth Stocks to Buy Now for 2022
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n5 Growth Stocks to Buy Now for 2022\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-12-19 10:20 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Today, I provide five growth stocks that I think will perform well in 2022 and beyond. These 3 Growth Stocks Are Trading Near Their 52-Week Lows","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2192754259","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Three names you know are trading within 10% of their 52-week lows. They deserve better.","content":"
The major market indexes may be near their recent all-time highs, but your portfolio might have missed the memo. There are a lot of stocks struggling outside of the bellwethers that are heavily weighted in the market gauges, and we're not just talking about small and obscure names.
\n
Disney (NYSE:DIS), Twitter (NYSE:TWTR), and Toast (NYSE:TOST) are all trading within 10% of their 52-week lows. They are market leaders, but investors just aren't feeling the love for the entertainment powerhouse, the social media kingmaker, and the toast of the town in restaurant tech. Let's see why these are three promising ideas for the next $5,000 you want to invest in the market.
\n
Disney
\n
Disney's theme parks call themselves the happiest or merriest places on Earth, but shareholders aren't feeling the same way these days. The media maven's stock is less than 5% away from the 52-week low it hit earlier this month.
\n
It's pretty surprising to see Disney as a market laggard this year. It's the dominant theme park operator and film studio on the planet, making it a clear beneficiary of the reopening of the economy in 2021. Unfortunately for shareholders, things are never as easy as they seem. Disney+ subscriber growth has slowed recently, and that's problematic since the platform for premium streaming video was the major reason for Disney climbing in 2020.
\n
Disney near 52-week lows is still a sobering development. The theme parks continue to draw. The top movies this year are largely Disney's handiwork. Even its cruise lines are finally sailing again. The weight of the world may be on beleaguered CEO Bob Chapek's shoulders, but it's a small world after all.
\n
Twitter
\n
Another shocking name skirting fresh lows is Twitter. There are a lot of stocks struggling outside of the bellwethers that are heavily weighted in the market gauges, and we're not just talking about small and obscure names.\nDisney (NYSE:DIS), Twitter (NYSE:TWTR), and Toast (NYSE:TOST) are all trading within 10% of their 52-week lows. They are market leaders, but investors just aren't feeling the love for the entertainment powerhouse, the social media kingmaker, and the toast of the town in restaurant tech. Let's see why these are three promising ideas for the next $5,000 you want to invest in the market.\nDisney\nDisney's theme parks call themselves the happiest or merriest places on Earth, but shareholders aren't feeling the same way these days. The media maven's stock is less than 5% away from the 52-week low it hit earlier this month.\nIt's pretty surprising to see Disney as a market laggard this year. It's the dominant theme park operator and film studio on the planet, making it a clear beneficiary of the reopening of the economy in 2021. Unfortunately for shareholders, things are never as easy as they seem. Disney+ subscriber growth has slowed recently, and that's problematic since the platform for premium streaming video was the major reason for Disney climbing in 2020.\nDisney near 52-week lows is still a sobering development. The theme parks continue to draw. The top movies this year are largely Disney's handiwork. Even its cruise lines are finally sailing again. The weight of the world may be on beleaguered CEO Bob Chapek's shoulders, but it's a small world after all.\nTwitter\nAnother shocking name skirting fresh lows is Twitter. The company behind the short-form social platform is in a funk, and even the initial 10% pop that the stock experienced after its CEO stepped down late last month proved fleeting. As of Thursday's close, Twitter is also now just 5% above the fresh low it hit two weeks ago.\nThe platform is working. Its daily active users have grown 13% over the past year to 211 million. Ad revenue is growing even faster, and that 41% surge is a testament to both Twitter's engagement and its ability to milk more money out of every user. New leadership should help it continue to evolve, and the recent rollout of premium features for those willing to pay a little to improve the experience should get Twitter moving in the right direction again before long.\nToast\nRunning a restaurant has changed dramatically just in the past couple of years, and Toast is the no-brainer cloud-based platform that keeps eateries on top of all of the trending revenue streams. It's a one-stop shop for restaurant needs. On the consumer-facing end, it helps process mobile ordering for take-out, manage incoming sales from third-party delivery services, and naturally serve as the point-of-sale for in-restaurant dining. Netflix
\n
A year ago, Netflix Inc. investors were losing sleep over a raft of competition and a cooling of net subscriber growth following a torrid spurt of new subscriptions from homebound consumers.
\n
Now, sleep is coming easier for those with a piece of Netflix, and their dreams are about \"Squid Game\" and videogames.
\n
\"Squid Game,\" a dystopian drama set in South Korea that examines how the global wealth gap is widening, could play an outsize role when Netflix $(NFLX)$ reports fiscal third-quarter results on Tuesday. The Korean drama series has attracted 111 million viewers world-wide since its Sept. 17 debut, blowing past the previous record of 82 million people who watched \"Bridgerton,\" according to Netflix.
\n
Like most Netflix analysts, Jefferies analyst Andrew Uerkwitz is keen on \"Squid Game,\" and its ability to both attract new subscribers and demonstrate the company's capacity to produce compelling content. The reopening of production schedules and premieres of original content is clearly a godsend for Netflix , which reported a dramatic slowdown in new subscribersat this time last year amid a paucity of fresh programming and lagging subscriber growth after a turbocharged COVID bounce.
\n
Netflix stock bogged down after that report for about nine months. But it has picked up in the past three months, gaining 15.7% in that time -- for the past year, shares are up 15.9%, showing how much the recent excitement has changed the trajectory.
\n
Things could get even better in the current quarter, with the return of four of Netflix's most popular series, including \"Bridgerton\" and \"The Witcher,\" and the growing popularity of \"Squid Game,\" which is must-see viewing in nearly 100 countries. Evercore ISI analyst Mark Mahaney is looking at fourth-quarter subscriber-growth guidance of between 8 million and 9 million net additions.
\n
It's enough to assuage investors eyeing a marauding lineup of media competition from Walt Disney Co., Apple Inc., Amazon.com Inc., Comcast Corp., AT&T Inc., and others.
\n
But the game-changer -- literally -- could still be in the future. In July, Netflix announced its first major videogame hire as it attempts to move beyond its streaming-video roots and diversify revenue. Mike Verdu was named vice president of game development, following stints at Facebook Inc. FB and Electronic Arts Inc. EA, where he was responsible for game franchises like \"The Sims,\" \"Plants vs. Zombies\" and \"Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes.\"
\n
Uerkwitz, who lifted his price target to $737 from $620 this week and has a buy rating on the stock, is bullish on Netflix's recent acquisition of developer Night School Studio, and believes Netflix can fetch a higher multiple as its videogaming push crystallizes.
\n
Not all is hunky dory with Netflix, though. A transgender-employee group at the company is encouraging staff to stage a walkout next Wednesday to protest co-Chief Executive Ted Sarandos's recent defense of Dave Chappelle's special that some employees said was offensive to the transgender community. Expect Sarandos and co-CEO Reed Hastings to address that, as well as coming content and videogame plans, when they speak to investors on Tuesday.
\n
What to expect
\n
Earnings: Analysts on average expect Netflix to report earnings of $2.57 a share, up from $1.74 a share a year ago. Analysts were projecting $2.20 a share at the end of June. Netflix forecast earnings of $2.55 a share, and 3.5 million net subscriber adds. The street consensus projects 3.8 million net adds.
\n
Contributors to Estimize -- a crowdsourcing platform that gathers estimates from Wall Street analysts as well as buy-side analysts, fund managers, company executives, academics and others -- are just as optimistic, projecting earnings of $2.57 a share on average.
\n
Revenue: Analysts on average expect Netflix to report $7.48 billion in third-quarter revenue, up from $6.44 billion a year ago. Netflix guided for revenue of $7.48 billion, and Estimize contributors also predict $7.48 billion on average.
\n
Stock movement: Netflix's stock is up 15.9% so far this year, while the S&P 500 index has increased 16%. Shares of Netflix are up 15% since the company announced second-quarter results on July 20.
\n
What analysts are saying
\n
Netflix's fourth-quarter subscriber forecast could be the biggest detail to watch, with all the content landing in the second half of the year. Stifel's Scott Devitt is expecting blockbuster fourth-quarter net additions of 10.1 million subscribers, leapfrogging street estimates of about 8.4 million, as Netflix \"successfully releases compelling original content, broadens its international penetration, and enters a seasonally favorable period for sub adds.\"
\n
\"We believe Netflix has entered a favorable setup following the sub add pull-forward-induced trough,\" Devitt said in an Oct. 11 that rated Netflix shares as buy with a target of $650.
\n
Baird analyst William Power anticipates subscriber growth, leading to solid results and guidance, based on Google search data and app download activity late in the quarter.
\n
\"We had expected a stronger second-half content slate to benefit subscriber growth, which we believe is playing out,\" said Power, who issued an outperform rating and raised his target to $680 from $650. \"We remain positive on the long-term position, though with strong stock performance since Q2 and the 'Squid Game' release, [we] would be more aggressive on any weakness.\"
\n
Noting a 7% increase in sequential quarterly downloads, Truist Securities analyst Matthew Thornton raised his target on Netflix's stock to $690 from $600 and maintained a buy rating.
\n
\"The content slate is strong (Witcher, La Casa De Papel, Cobra Kai, Tiger King, You, Emily In Paris, several star-studded films),\" he wrote in an Oct. 12 note.
\n
\"Acquisitions, Gaming, 'Squid Game' and Emmy Domination\" are the winning formula that Monness Crespi Hardt analyst Brian J. White cited in an Oct. 15 note that predicts Netflix will achieve third-quarter revenue of at least $7.47 billion (up 16% year-over-year) and earnings of $2.51. His Netflix target is $650.
","source":"lsy1603348471595","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Can 'Squid Game' and videogames be game-changers for Netflix?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nCan 'Squid Game' and videogames be game-changers for Netflix?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-10-18 14:10 GMT+8 MarketWatch\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Earnings preview: 'Squid Game' is already the most viewed Netflix original ever, with 111 million viewers world-wide since its Sept. 17 debut, which could boost subscriber numbers ahead of larger push...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"NFLX":"奈飞"},"source_url":"https://www.marketwatch.com/story/can-squid-game-and-videogames-be-game-changers-for-netflix-11634330581?mod=home-page","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"2176449471","content_text":"Earnings preview: 'Squid Game' is already the most viewed Netflix original ever, with 111 million viewers world-wide since its Sept. 17 debut, which could boost subscriber numbers ahead of larger push for mobile games\n“Squid Game,” Netflix Inc.’s largest-ever series launch, has attracted 111 million viewers world-wide since its Sept. 17 debut. Stifel's Scott Devitt is expecting blockbuster fourth-quarter net additions of 10.1 million subscribers, leapfrogging street estimates of about 8.4 million, as Netflix \"successfully releases compelling original content, broadens its international penetration, and enters a seasonally favorable period for sub adds.\"\n\"We believe Netflix has entered a favorable setup following the sub add pull-forward-induced trough,\" Devitt said in an Oct. 11 that rated Netflix shares as buy with a target of $650.\nBaird analyst William Power anticipates subscriber growth, leading to solid results and guidance, based on Google search data and app download activity late in the quarter.\n\"We had expected a stronger second-half content slate to benefit subscriber growth, which we believe is playing out,\" said Power, who issued an outperform rating and raised his target to $680 from $650. \"We remain positive on the long-term position, though with strong stock performance since Q2 and the 'Squid Game' release, [we] would be more aggressive on any weakness.\"\nNoting a 7% increase in sequential quarterly downloads, Truist Securities analyst Matthew Thornton raised his target on Netflix's stock to $690 from $600 and maintained a buy rating.\n\"The content slate is strong (Witcher, La Casa De Papel, Cobra Kai, Tiger King, You, Emily In Paris, several star-studded films),\" he wrote in an Oct. 12 note.\n\"Acquisitions, Gaming, 'Squid Game' and Emmy Domination\" are the winning formula that Monness Crespi Hardt analyst Brian J. White cited in an Oct. 15 note that predicts Netflix will achieve third-quarter revenue of at least $7.47 billion (up 16% year-over-year) and earnings of $2.51. In 2019, Albemarle struck a joint venture with Australia-based company Mineral Resources and acquired a 60% stake in its Wodgina mine. Wodgina has the world's largest hard rock lithium deposits.
\n
Not surprisingly, Albemarle is growing exponentially. It expects net sales to nearly double by 2026 from expected 2021 levels of $3.2 billion to $3.3 billion, and foresees adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) margins of 43% to 47% by 2026. This same company was projecting 2025 EBITDA margin of 32% to 34% in 2019.
\n
Albemarle is also expanding aggressively outside the U.S. and targeting 40% to 45% revenue from China and 30% to 35% from rest of Asia by 2026. For perspective, China is expected to bring in just about 25% of its revenue in 2021.
\n
Those are some eye-popping growth numbers, and when you also consider that Albemarle is a rare EV Dividend Aristocrat with a 27-year streak of consecutive dividend increases, you know you have found a long-term winning stock.
\n
This new EV stock on the block is addressing the biggest EV problem
\n
As exciting as the future of electric cars sounds, their advent comes at a huge environmental cost: Lithium-ion batteries have a limited lifespan and therefore have to be replaced, giving rise to a global challenge. Enter Li-Cycle Holdings (NYSE:LICY), North America's largest battery recycler, founded in 2016.
\n
Li-Cycle operates a two-stage Spoke-and-Hub recycling model: It breaks down batteries at spokes and recovers lithium, cobalt, nickel, and manganese from them at Hubs to send the recovered material back to battery producers. By 2025, it expects to process 100,000 tons per year at Spokes and 220,000 tons to 240,000 tons per year at its Hub.
\n
In the last quarter, Li-Cycle onboarded 14 new battery-supply customers, taking its total customer count to 70. Its revenue shot up 840% year over year to $1.7 million.
\n
Remember though, Li-Cycle is an early-stage, loss-making company that's already commanding a market capitalization of $1.8 billion. And the Oracle of Omaha also addressed the recent rise in retail trading andonline brokerage firmslike Robinhood, the rally in bitcoinand the boom in SPAC mergers.

In many ways, this year's meeting looked different from those in the past. The annual event took placein a hotel conference room in Los Angelesrather than in an arena in Omaha, Nebraska, due to the ongoing pandemic.

Buffett's long-time business partner Charlie Munger also returned onstage this year to co-lead the event, after sitting out last year because of the pandemic. And in a new move, Buffett and Munger were joined by Berkshire's Vice Chairmen Gregory Abel and Ajit Jain,in a signal of potential succession plans at the company.

Here were some of the highlights from the event.

—

Buffett said Berkshire Hathaway is seeing signs of rising price pressures during the COVID-19 recovery, corroborating many market participants' concerns about increasing inflationary pressures.

\"We're seeing substantial inflation. We're raising prices, people are raising prices to us. And it's being accepted,\" Buffett said. \"We really do a lot of housing. The costs are just up, up, up. Steel costs. You know, just every day they're going up.\"

\"It's an economy – really, it's red hot. And we weren't expecting it,\" he added.

—

Buffett said trading apps like Robinhoodhave contributed to the \"casino aspect\" of the stock market as of late, exploiting individuals' inclinations to gamble.

“It’s become a very significant part of the casino aspect, the casino group, that has joined into the stock market in the last year, year and a half,\" Buffett said of Robinhood. \"There’s nothing, you know, there’s nothing illegal about it, there’s nothing immoral. But I don’t think you’d build a society around people doing it.\"

\"I think the degree to which a very rich society can reward people who know how to take advantage, essentially, of the gambling instincts of the American public, the worldwide public – it’s not the most admirable part of the accomplishment,\" Buffett added. \"But I think what America has accomplished is pretty admirable overall. And I think actually American corporations have turned out to be a wonderful place for people to put their money and save. But they also make terrific gambling chips, and if you cater to those gambling chips when people have money in their pocket for the first time and you tell them take my 30 or 40 or 50 trades a day and you’re not charging commission ... I hope we don’t have more of it.”

—

Buffett explained that Berkshire's move to unload many of its bank shares last year was not due to a lack of confidence in the banking industry, but more a decision to re-balance the portfolio and avoid being too heavily tilted toward one area.

\"I like banks generally, I just didn't like the proportion compared to the possible risk,\" Buffett said. \"We were over 10% of Bank of America. It's a real pain in the neck, more to the banks than us.\"

Berkshire held 1,032,952,006 shares of Bank of America as of the end of 2020, after adding 85.1 million shares in the third quarter alone. This gave Berkshire Hathaway an ownership stake of 11.9%. Berkshire cut its holdings of Wells Fargo from 345.7 million shares at year-end 2019 to 52.4 million by year-end 2020, and completely exited its holdings in JPMorgan Chase (JPM) and M&T Bank Corp (MTB).

\"The banking business is way better than it was in the United States 10 or 15 years ago,\" he added. \"The banking business around the world in various places might worry me, but our banks are in far, far better shape than 10 or 15 years ago.\"

—

A shareholder asked Jain, who leads Berkshire's insurance business, whether he would be hypothetically willing to write an insurance policy for SpaceX founder Elon Musk for his proposed colonization of Mars.

\"This is an easy one. No thank you, I’ll pass,\" Jain said.

“Well I would say it would depend on the premium,” Buffett interjected with a laugh. \"And I would say that I would probably have a somewhat different rate if Elon was on board or not on board. It makes a difference if someone is asking to insure something.”

—

Warren Buffett declined to directly offer an opinion in response to a question on bitcoin, an assethe previously likened to \"rat poison squared.\"

\"I knew there’d be a question on bitcoin or crypto and I thought to myself well, I watch these politicians dodge questions all the time … The truth is, I’m going to dodge that question,\" Buffett said. \"Because the truth is, we’ve probably got hundreds of thousands of people that are watching this that own bitcoin. And we’ve probably got two people that are short. So we’ve got a choice of making 400,000 people mad at us and unhappy, and making two people happy. And it’s just a dumb equation.\"

Munger, however, issued a more direct attack.

\"Those who know me well are just waving the red flag at the bull. The first quarter was tremendous,\" See's Candies CEO Pat Egan said in an interview with Yahoo Finance's Julia La Roche ahead of the start of Berkshire's annual shareholder meeting. \"In the middle of March, when this [pandemic] really hit, we shut down all of our stores in a span of five days. So for a period of time there, we essentially completely stopped.\"

\"We just said, we're not going to reopen stores or reopen plants until we can create a safe operating environment for our employees,\" he added. \"That took a while, and by the time we restored over the summer we saw customers coming back in. And the Oracle of Omaha also addressed the recent rise in retail trading andonline brokerage firmslike Robinhood, the rally in bitcoinand the boom in SPAC mergers. In many ways, this year's meeting looked different from those in the past. The annual event took placein a hotel conference room in Los Angelesrather than in an arena in Omaha, Nebraska, due to the ongoing pandemic.Buffett's long-time business partner Charlie Munger also returned onstage this year to co-lead the event, after sitting out last year because of the pandemic. And in a new move, Buffett and Munger were joined by Berkshire's Vice Chairmen Gregory Abel and Ajit Jain,in a signal of potential succession plans at the company. Here were some of the highlights from the event.—Buffett said Berkshire Hathaway is seeing signs of rising price pressures during the COVID-19 recovery, corroborating many market participants' concerns about increasing inflationary pressures.\"We're seeing substantial inflation. We're raising prices, people are raising prices to us. And it's being accepted,\" Buffett said. \"We really do a lot of housing. The costs are just up, up, up. Steel costs. You know, just every day they're going up.\"\"It's an economy – really, it's red hot. And we weren't expecting it,\" he added.—Buffett said trading apps like Robinhoodhave contributed to the \"casino aspect\" of the stock market as of late, exploiting individuals' inclinations to gamble.“It’s become a very significant part of the casino aspect, the casino group, that has joined into the stock market in the last year, year and a half,\" Buffett said of Robinhood. \"There’s nothing, you know, there’s nothing illegal about it, there’s nothing immoral. But I don’t think you’d build a society around people doing it.\"\"I think the degree to which a very rich society can reward people who know how to take advantage, essentially, of the gambling instincts of the American public, the worldwide public – it’s not the most admirable part of the accomplishment,\" Buffett added. I hope we don’t have more of it.”—Buffett explained that Berkshire's move to unload many of its bank shares last year was not due to a lack of confidence in the banking industry, but more a decision to re-balance the portfolio and avoid being too heavily tilted toward one area.\"I like banks generally, I just didn't like the proportion compared to the possible risk,\" Buffett said. \"We were over 10% of Bank of America. It's a real pain in the neck, more to the banks than us.\"Berkshire held 1,032,952,006 shares of Bank of America as of the end of 2020, after adding 85.1 million shares in the third quarter alone. This gave Berkshire Hathaway an ownership stake of 11.9%. Berkshire cut its holdings of Wells Fargo from 345.7 million shares at year-end 2019 to 52.4 million by year-end 2020, and completely exited its holdings in JPMorgan Chase (JPM) and M&T Bank Corp (MTB).\"The banking business is way better than it was in the United States 10 or 15 years ago,\" he added. \"The banking business around the world in various places might worry me, but our banks are in far, far better shape than 10 or 15 years ago.\"—A shareholder asked Jain, who leads Berkshire's insurance business, whether he would be hypothetically willing to write an insurance policy for SpaceX founder Elon Musk for his proposed colonization of Mars.\"This is an easy one. No thank you, I’ll pass,\" Jain said.“Well I would say it would depend on the premium,” Buffett interjected with a laugh. \"And I would say that I would probably have a somewhat different rate if Elon was on board or not on board. It makes a difference if someone is asking to insure something.”—Warren Buffett declined to directly offer an opinion in response to a question on bitcoin, an assethe previously likened to \"rat poison squared.\"\"I knew there’d be a question on bitcoin or crypto and I thought to myself well, I watch these politicians dodge questions all the time … The truth is, I’m going to dodge that question,\" Buffett said. \"Because the truth is, we’ve probably got hundreds of thousands of people that are watching this that own bitcoin. And we’ve probably got two people that are short. So we’ve got a choice of making 400,000 people mad at us and unhappy, and making two people happy. And it’s just a dumb equation.\"Munger, however, issued a more direct attack.\"Those who know me well are just waving the red flag at the bull. Of course I hate the bitcoin success,\" he said. \"And I don’t welcome a currency that’s so useful kidnappers and extortionists and so forth. Nor do I like shoveling out a few extra billions and billions and billions of dollars to somebody who just invented a new financial product out of thin air. So I think I should say modestly that the whole damn development is disgusting and contrary to the interest of civilization.\"—Both Buffett and Munger issued strong words of support for share repurchases, especially after Berkshire reported repurchasing an additional $6.6 billion in stock in the first three months of 2021.\"They're a way, essentially, of distributing the cash to the people that want the cash when other co-owners mostly want you to reinvest,\" Buffett said. \"It's a savings vehicle.\"\"I find it almost impossible to believe some of the arguments that are made that it's terrible to repurchase shares from a partner if they want to get out of something, and you're able to do it at prices that are advantages to the people that are staying,\" Buffett said. \"And it helps slightly the person that wants out.\"Munger offered a similar view.\"You're repurchasing stock. Just a bullet higher, it's deeply immoral,\" Munger said. \"But if you're repurchasing stock because it's a fair thing to do in the interest of your existing shareholders, it's a highly moral act and the people who are criticizing it are bonkers.\"—Low interest rates have catalyzed a surge in valuations across equities, giving those who invest in the markets an opportunity to create wealth, Munger said during the Berkshire Hathaway question and answer segment.\"I think one consequence of this present situation is, Bernie Sanders has basically won,\" Munger says. \"Because with everything boomed out so high and interest rates so low, what's going to happen is, the millennial generation is going to have a hell of a time getting rich compared to our generation ... He did it by accident, but he won.\"\"And so the difference between the difference between the rich and the poor in the generation that's rising is going to be a lot less,\" he added. \"So Bernie has won.\"—Buffett received a question around special purpose acquisition companies, or blank-check companies, which have become a hugely popular means for firms to go public over the past year.\"The SPACs generally have to spend their money in two years, as I understand it. If you have to buy a business in two years, you put a gun to my head and said you've got to buy a business in two years, I'd buy one but it wouldn't be much of one,\" Buffett.\"If you're running money from somebody else and you get a fee and you get the upside and you don't have the downside, you're going to buy something,\" he added. \"And frankly we're not competitive with that.\"\"It's an exaggerated version of what we've seen in kind of a gambling-type market,\" he added.—Buffett conceded that selling some of Apple's stock in 2020 was \"probably a mistake,\" with shares rising even further this year following the tech-led 2020 in the markets.\"The brand and the product — it's an incredible product,\" Buffett said of Apple. \"It is indispensable to people.\"\"I sold some stock last year, although our shareholders still saw their shares go up because we repurchased shares,\" he added. \"But that was probably a mistake.\"Berkshire owned 907,559,761 shares of Appleas of the end of December for a total market value of $120.4 billion. This system has worked very well.\"—In opening remarks at the start of Berkshire Hathaway's annual shareholder meeting, Buffett credited the U.S. economic recovery from the COVID-19 crisis toswift action by the Federal Reserve and Congress.\"The economy went off a cliff in March. It was resurrected in an extraordinarily effective way by Federal Reserve action and later on the fiscal front by Congress,\" Buffett said in opening remarks at Berkshire's annual shareholder meeting.\"He added that Berkshire Hathaway's own business has picked up tremendously alongside the broader economy, and suggested businesses like airlines were still among those most deeply affected by lingering effects from the pandemic.\"Our businesses have done really quite well. This has been a very, very, very unusual recession in that it's been localized ... to an extraordinary extent. Right now business is really very good in a great many segments of the economy,\" he added. \"But there's still problems if you're in a few types of businesses that have been decimated such as international air travel or something of the sort.\"—The CEO of See's Candies, one of the longstanding companies owned by Berkshire Hathaway, told Yahoo Finance that the companyhas seen a strong rebound at the start of 2021. However, last year, business virtually ground to a halt.\"This has been the longest decade of my life. We've been through a lot. Last year – it's a tale of a couple of different quarters. So about 245 stores we closed in a matter of days. And then about a week and a half later, we closed our e-commerce fulfillment center down in Southern California. So for a period of time there, we essentially completely stopped.\"\"We just said, we're not going to reopen stores or reopen plants until we can create a safe operating environment for our employees,\" he added. \"That took a while, and by the time we restored over the summer we saw customers coming back in. But for that period of time, it was pretty rough.\"See's Candies just completed its \"best first quarter ever\" at the start of 2021, Egan added.—Berkshire Hathawayreported first-quarter results Saturday morning, underscoring arebound in profits across the firm's businesses amid the COVID-19 recovery. Berkshire also reported that it conducted another $6.6 billion of stock buybacks, extending its ramped-up share repurchase program from 2020.Operating income during the first three months of the year increased to $7.02 billion, rising 19.5% compared to the $5.87 billion posted in the first quarter of 2020. Net earnings attributable to Berkshire shareholders swung back to a profit of $11.71 billion, compared to a loss of $49.75 billion in the same quarter last year.Consolidated shareholders' equity rose by $4.8 billion to $448 billion by the end of March compared to the fourth quarter of 2020.If you want to watch the full live video, please click here.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":525,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":373157232,"gmtCreate":1618834597826,"gmtModify":1634290541894,"author":{"id":"3572236737712328","authorId":"3572236737712328","name":"BrianLTS","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/ec1e776b8113215c077b67791e4f544c","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Seriously [流泪] ","listText":"Seriously [流泪] ","text":"Seriously [流泪]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/373157232","repostId":"1159360273","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1159360273","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1618834082,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1159360273?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-04-19 20:08","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Nvidia stock tanked 3.4% in premarket trading","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1159360273","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Nvidia stock tanked 3.4% in premarket trading because UK intervenes in Nvidia's takeover of ARM on n","content":"
Nvidia stock tanked 3.4% in premarket trading because UK intervenes in Nvidia's takeover of ARM on national security grounds.

Britain said on Monday it would intervene in SoftBank's sale of chip designer ARM Holdings to U.S. group Nvidia on national security grounds.

Digital Secretary Oliver Dowden said: \"Following careful consideration of the proposed takeover of ARM, I have today issued an intervention notice on national security grounds.

\"As a next step and to help me gather the relevant information, the UK’s independent competition authority will now prepare a report on the implications of the transaction, which will help inform any further decisions.\"
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; These stock picks cover enormous secular growth trends that should flourish over the long term.
\nBut augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) are why I personally own the stock. Think metaverse! Nio's branding efforts go beyond cars -- Nio owners can buy branded products and even experience company-owned coffee houses and co-working spaces.
\n
Most importantly, Nio's battery-as-a-service subscription is a solid competitive advantage as it gives buyers the option to buy cars without batteries for substantially lower costs and instead rent and swap batteries as and when required.
\n
With Nio's orders hitting a record high in August and deliveries of its fourth model -- the mid-size sedan ET7 -- to start by early 2022, this is one of the best Chinese electric vehicle stocks you could buy right now.
\n
This EV battery beast is also a Dividend Aristocrat
\n
Whether it's Ford, Nio or any other EV manufacturer, they all require lithium-ion batteries to power their cars. Albemarle (NYSE:ALB) is one of the world's largest lithium mining companies, and was in fact the world's largest supplier of battery-grade lithium for electric vehicles in 2020.
\n
Albemarle recognized the EV market's potential early in the game when it acquired lithium giant Rockwood Holdings in 2015.
It'll have an annual recycling capacity of 10,000 tons of lithium-ion batteries, double the capacity at each of its other two Spokes.
\n
Its first revenue-generating Hub in Rochester should be operational by 2023.
\n
\n
Demand is so high that Li-Cycle has already planned a fourth Spoke in Alabama.
The company behind the short-form social platform is in a funk, and even the initial 10% pop that the stock experienced after its CEO stepped down late last month proved fleeting. As of Thursday's close, Twitter is also now just 5% above the fresh low it hit two weeks ago.
\n
The platform is working. Its daily active users have grown 13% over the past year to 211 million. Ad revenue is growing even faster, and that 41% surge is a testament to both Twitter's engagement and its ability to milk more money out of every user. New leadership should help it continue to evolve, and the recent rollout of premium features for those willing to pay a little to improve the experience should get Twitter moving in the right direction again before long.
\n
Toast
\n
Running a restaurant has changed dramatically just in the past couple of years, and Toast is the no-brainer cloud-based platform that keeps eateries on top of all of the trending revenue streams. It's a one-stop shop for restaurant needs. On the consumer-facing end, it helps process mobile ordering for take-out, manage incoming sales from third-party delivery services, and naturally serve as the point-of-sale for in-restaurant dining. It also helps run customer loyalty programs to keep regulars coming back.
\n
Toast does even more on the enterprise end, tackling everything from payroll to inventory management. It also helps run customer loyalty programs to keep regulars coming back.\nToast does even more on the enterprise end, tackling everything from payroll to inventory management. With chains and independent concepts emerging smarter out of the pandemic than they were before, the company simplifies the necessary functions of an eatery in the new normal.\nDespite stellar growth -- revenue has soared 105% through the first nine months of this year -- the recent IPO hit an all-time low on Wednesday. It may be causing indigestion for investors who chased the new stock when it popped to double today's price by early November, but right now it feels more like a dinner bell.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":616,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":850349294,"gmtCreate":1634559635157,"gmtModify":1634559635600,"author":{"id":"3572236737712328","authorId":"3572236737712328","name":"BrianLTS","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/ec1e776b8113215c077b67791e4f544c","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Netflix [Sly] ","listText":"Netflix [Sly] ","text":"Netflix [Sly]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/850349294","repostId":"2176449471","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":563,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":379885605,"gmtCreate":1618715731507,"gmtModify":1634291290532,"author":{"id":"3572236737712328","authorId":"3572236737712328","name":"BrianLTS","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/ec1e776b8113215c077b67791e4f544c","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"High volume with bullish candlestick!
