Since The Trade Desk debuted on Sept. 21, 2016, at $28.75 a share, the stock has been on fire, climbing to roughly $592 as of this writing, gaining a massive 1,959%. Considering the high sticker price, the stock split will put shares within the reach of more individual investors who have less money to invest.</p>\n<p>The devil is in the details. Let's take a look at exactly what investors should expect, and whether or not this represents a buying opportunity.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/5dd321e600f3059fabece36ea79f8358\" tg-width=\"2000\" tg-height=\"1376\"><span>IMAGE SOURCE: GETTY IMAGES.</span></p>\n<p><b>Those pesky details</b></p>\n<p>On May 10, The Trade Desk said it would initiate a 10-for-1 split of its common stock in the form of a stock dividend . Shareholders of record as of June 9 will receive an additional nine shares of stock for every share owned on the record date. The new shares will be distributed after the market close on June 16. The stock will start trading on a split-adjusted basis when the market opens on June 17.</p>\n<p>Existing shareholders don't have to take any action to receive the additional shares. The stock will be deposited directly into their brokerage accounts once the split takes effect. It's important to remember that the new shares won't necessarily appear immediately after the market closes on June 16. The process for updating accounts varies from brokerage to brokerage, so it can take as long as several days for the new shares to make their appearance in investor accounts.</p>\n<p>To give some context to the numbers, here's an example of what it could look like. For each share of The Trade Desk stock that an investor holds -- currently worth roughly $592 -- post-split, shareholders would own a total of 10 shares priced at $59.20 each.</p>\n<p><b>Does this stock split make The Trade Desk a buy?</b></p>\n<p>Eagle-eyed investors will note that the<i>total value</i>of their investment will not change since one share priced at $592 is worth the same as 10 shares priced at $59.20 each. A good analogy is buying a pizza and cutting it into slices. Whether you have one uncut pie, or the same pie sliced into 10 pieces, you still have the same amount of pizza. Similarly, The Trade Desk stockholders will simply have a larger number of lower-priced shares.</p>\n<p>Since the company announced the pending stock split, shareholders have cheered the news. In the five weeks since the announcement, the stock has climbed 20%, compared to a 1% gain for the&nbsp;<b>S&amp;P 500</b>. It's important to note, however, that there were likely other factors at play. In fact, The Trade Desk had fallen as much as 45% since mid-February, as some investors seemed to focus solely on stocks they believed would benefit from the recovery, rotating away from&nbsp;high-growth tech stocks. Over the next decade, its growth may not be the same, however. Yet, thanks to massive shareholder return programs and a move towards services, Apple's stock will likely still be significantly higher a decade from now - even though the current valuation is rather high.</p>\n<p><b>Apple Stock Price</b></p>\n<p>Over the last decade, Apple Inc. has been a great investment:</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/5d29aa34bdbc5bab7d0730a4095954e6\" tg-width=\"635\" tg-height=\"419\"><span>Data by YCharts</span></p>\n<p>Shares have returned 900% in those ten years, before dividends, for a compounded annual return of approximately 26%, easily trouncing the returns of the broad market during that time frame. Importantly, shares have risen a lot more than the company's market capitalization, which grew by only 550% over the last decade. The difference can be explained by the company's large share repurchase programs, which have lowered the share count drastically over the last decade. The last decade, of course, was a highly successful period for Apple on a business basis, as the company benefited from the rise of smartphones while also having success with new products such as its Watch and tablets, which Apple more or less introduced as a new product category. Right now, shares trade for $125, up 57% over the last twelve months, but down 6% in 2021 to date. Following strong gains during 2020, shares seem to be in a consolidation pattern for now, which is not too much of a surprise, as Apple's valuation had expanded a lot in the recent past, and it seems that the company's business growth has to catch up to the recent share price increases now. The current consensus price target is $156, which implies an upside potential of 25%. Since there are no signs of shares leaving their current trading range right now, I personally do not think that Apple will breach $150 in the near term.</p>\n<p><b>Where Will Apple Stock Be In 10 Years</b></p>\n<p>Apple's stock price in 2031 is, of course, nothing that can be forecasted with any precision. As history has shown, again and again, it is not even possible to forecast share prices precisely over a much shorter period of time. It is, however, possible to craft scenarios to see where share prices could be in the future under certain conditions, to get a feel for what might be a reasonable expectation for the future.</p>\n<p>To craft one such scenario, we have to consider Apple's business growth, Apple's shareholder return program, and the valuation multiple that shares might trade at in the future.</p>\n<p><b>Apple's business growth</b></p>\n<p>Apple Inc. has seen years of stronger growth and years of weaker growth in the past. This mostly can be explained by factors such as new product introductions, e.g. Watch or iPad, and by the strength of the respective current iPhone models, which see varying demand depending on the year. Other factors, such as economic growth or trade issues, play a role as well.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a5b8bd8ef6cdaa13850c1380e870554c\" tg-width=\"635\" tg-height=\"419\"><span>Data by YCharts</span></p>\n<p>Overall, revenues have grown by 154% over the last decade, but as we see in the above chart, revenue growth has been relatively uneven. During the early 2010s, Apple generated massive growth on the back of the iPhones \"road to victory\", whereas revenue growth declined to a much slower pace in the following years. There were even some years during which revenues declined on a year-over-year basis, such as 2016. The average annual revenue growth pace was 10% over the last decade, but when we factor in that this was lifted up by the very strong growth in 2011 and 2012, it may not be too reasonable to assume that Apple will grow by 10% a year in the future, too. Investors should also consider that maintaining a high growth rate becomes ever more difficult the larger a company gets. This does, however, not mean that Apple's revenue growth will slow down to zero.</p>\n<p>On the back of price increases for its products and the potential for market share gains in&nbsp;high-growth countries such as China, where more and more people will be able to buy Apple's higher-priced products, it seems reasonable to assume that Apple will generate at least some growth from its core businesses. Add in growth in the services segment - people use their phones more and more, which should lead to higher app spending - and consider the potential for new product launches (although I assume none will be as massive as the iPhone), and Apple should be able to grow its business at a solid pace. I personally assume that a 5%-7% revenue growth rate could be a realistic estimate for the coming years, although some readers will of course have different opinions.</p>\n<p><b>Apple's shareholder returns</b></p>\n<p>Apple has lowered its share count massively in the past, as shown above, and it is, I believe, reasonable to assume that the same will happen going forward. Over the last decade, Apple bought back 36% of its shares. If the same were to happen over the next decade, each remaining share's portion of the company's value would rise by 56%, or 4.6% annualized. Due to the fact that Apple's current valuation is significantly higher than its historic valuation, buybacks could be less impactful in the future, though. Apple has, for example, only reduced its share count by 2.6% over the last year.</p>\n<p>This is why I believe that the share count will not decline by another 36% over the coming decade. When we adjust that downward to 25%, this would result in a ~3% annual tailwind for Apple's growth when we look at per-share metrics, which are the deciding factor for Apple's share price growth. Combined with my 5%-7% business growth estimate, I thus assume that Apple will grow by 8%-10% on a per-share basis in the long term.</p>\n<p><b>Apple's future valuation</b></p>\n<p>AAPL has been valued in a very wide range in the past, seeing its shares trade for very low multiples at some points, whereas investors were willing to pay significantly more at other times:</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/be5cb8bbc04ff0e0a13ee64f6f2bd90a\" tg-width=\"635\" tg-height=\"470\"><span>Data by YCharts</span></p>\n<p>Shares could, five years ago, be bought for a very low 10x net earnings, which naturally was a great time to enter or expand positions. In late 2020, however, shares were trading for as much as 40x the company's net earnings, which seems like a quite high valuation. Right now, AAPL trades at 28x trailing earnings, and at around 24x forward profits. In the above chart, we also see the median earnings multiples over the last 3, 5, 7, and 10 years. It is pretty clear that Apple's valuation has expanded over the years, which is why the median values are higher for the shorter \"lookback\" periods. I do not believe that AAPL will trade at the 15.5x net earnings that it has traded at, on average, over the last decade, as this seems like a rather low valuation for a quality company like Apple with a strong brand, massive scale, great margins, and a fortress balance sheet. On the other hand, I also don't believe that Apple will trade at a 24-28x earnings multiple forever - for a company that generates solid but unspectacular business growth in the mid-single-digits, that seems quite expensive. This is especially true when we consider that interest rates will likely be higher a decade from now, which should pressure valuations for all equities, all else equal. I thus believe that a valuation of around 20x net earnings could be a reasonable estimate for 2031, which would be more or less in line with the 3-year median earnings multiple.</p>\n<p><b>Is AAPL A Buy Or Sell Now</b></p>\n<p>Starting our calculation with an EPS estimate of $5.15 for 2021 and assuming that this will grow by 7%-10% a year through 2031, we reach an EPS range of $10.10 to $13.40. Putting a 20x earnings multiple on that leads to a target price of around $200-$270/share. At the midpoint of around $235, shares would thus see gains of around 90% from the current level, or around 6.5% annualized. That surely is not a bad return, and when we add in the dividend, we would get to an annualized return of roughly 7%. This is, on the other hand, also not an outrageously great return, I believe.</p>\n<p>AAPL has, I believe, significant upside potential over the next decade, but that should not be a large surprise - many companies will see significant growth over a time span this long. I personally am not too excited about a 7% expected long-term return. When we consider that shares do have considerable downside risk in the next 1-3 years if Apple's valuation declines, e.g. due to rising interest rates, it may be a better choice to stay on the sidelines for now. Long-term investors will likely not do badly when they buy shares at current levels, but they will likely also not do great. For now, I'd rate Apple a hold, and a potential buy if its valuation comes closer to the longer-term average. Over the next decade, its growth may not be the same, however. Yet, thanks to massive shareholder return programs and a move towards services, Apple's stock will likely still be significantly higher a decade from now - even though the current valuation is rather high.\nApple Stock Price\nOver the last decade, Apple Inc. has been a great investment:\nData by YCharts\nShares have returned 900% in those ten years, before dividends, for a compounded annual return of approximately 26%, easily trouncing the returns of the broad market during that time frame. Importantly, shares have risen a lot more than the company's market capitalization, which grew by only 550% over the last decade. The difference can be explained by the company's large share repurchase programs, which have lowered the share count drastically over the last decade. The last decade, of course, was a highly successful period for Apple on a business basis, as the company benefited from the rise of smartphones while also having success with new products such as its Watch and tablets, which Apple more or less introduced as a new product category. Right now, shares trade for $125, up 57% over the last twelve months, but down 6% in 2021 to date. Following strong gains during 2020, shares seem to be in a consolidation pattern for now, which is not too much of a surprise, as Apple's valuation had expanded a lot in the recent past, and it seems that the company's business growth has to catch up to the recent share price increases now. The current consensus price target is $156, which implies an upside potential of 25%. Since there are no signs of shares leaving their current trading range right now, I personally do not think that Apple will breach $150 in the near term.\nWhere Will Apple Stock Be In 10 Years\nApple's stock price in 2031 is, of course, nothing that can be forecasted with any precision. As history has shown, again and again, it is not even possible to forecast share prices precisely over a much shorter period of time. It is, however, possible to craft scenarios to see where share prices could be in the future under certain conditions, to get a feel for what might be a reasonable expectation for the future.\nTo craft one such scenario, we have to consider Apple's business growth, Apple's shareholder return program, and the valuation multiple that shares might trade at in the future.\nApple's business growth\nApple Inc. has seen years of stronger growth and years of weaker growth in the past. This mostly can be explained by factors such as new product introductions, e.g. Watch or iPad, and by the strength of the respective current iPhone models, which see varying demand depending on the year. Other factors, such as economic growth or trade issues, play a role as well.\nData by YCharts\nOverall, revenues have grown by 154% over the last decade, but as we see in the above chart, revenue growth has been relatively uneven. During the early 2010s, Apple generated massive growth on the back of the iPhones \"road to victory\", whereas revenue growth declined to a much slower pace in the following years. There were even some years during which revenues declined on a year-over-year basis, such as 2016. The average annual revenue growth pace was 10% over the last decade, but when we factor in that this was lifted up by the very strong growth in 2011 and 2012, it may not be too reasonable to assume that Apple will grow by 10% a year in the future, too. Investors should also consider that maintaining a high growth rate becomes ever more difficult the larger a company gets. NVIDIA</p><p>If you want to invest in leading-edge semiconductor technology powering artificial intelligence, cloud computing, autonomous driving, 5G, and several other next-generation trends, then NVIDIA may be exactly the right stock for you.</p><p>In the first quarter of fiscal 2022 (ending May 2), NVIDIA reported stellar performance, despite the ongoing global semiconductor shortage. Revenue jumped 84% year over year to $5.66 billion, and diluted earnings per share (EPS) soared 106% to $3.03. In the first quarter, gaming revenue was up 106% year over year to $2.76 billion, while data center revenue jumped 79% year over year to $2.05 billion.</p><p>Long known as a leader in the gaming space for its graphic processing units (GPUs), NVIDIA further strengthened that position by launching GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs in September. Since then, GeForce has triggered a massive GPU upgrade cycle in the gaming industry, and demand for NVIDIA-powered laptops and desktops from students, gamers, and creators has been outstripping supply.</p><p>In fact, the RTX 30 series has played a pivotal role in helping NVIDIArecapture some shareof the discrete GPU market from<b>Advanced Micro Devices</b>(NASDAQ:AMD). (\"Discrete GPU\" refers to a GPU which is separate from the central processing unit, or CPU.) Subsequently, the company ended 2020 with83% of the discrete GPUmarket share.</p><p>NVIDIA's data center segment is witnessing solid demand from massive data-center customers building infrastructure for providing AI capabilities to their clients. Management has also announced plans to launch their first data center central processing unit (CPU), theARM-based\"Grace\" chip, by 2023. With the capability to work 10 times faster than existing servers, Grace CPU can further strengthen NVIDIA's position in the global data center market.</p><p>With this backdrop, although NVIDIA trades at more than 40.8 times forward earnings, the premium valuation seems justified. Investors can earn handsome returns by picking up this market-leading semiconductor stock even at these elevated levels.</p><p>2. Skillz</p><p>Mobile esports platform Skillz has been on a wild ride in the past few months. The company IPOed via the special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) route at an opening price of $17.89 in December, reached as high as $46.30 in February, and then tanked to an all-time low of $12.40 in April. The dramatic drop has been associated with several factors, including investors moving from growth to value stocks, some adverse short-seller reports, ill-timed capital raises, and equity dilution involving significant insider selling.</p><p>The sheer magnitude of Skillz's sell-off, however, seems unjustified. Skillz provides mobile game developers with a platform to organize competitions and then collects15% of the gross proceedspaid by players participating in these competitions. In the first quarter of fiscal 2021 (ending March 31), Skillz's monthly active users rose by 3.8% year over year to 2.7 million, and paying user count jumped by 81% to 467,000.</p><p>In an open letter to retail investors, Skillz founder and CEO Andrew Paradise highlighted the platform's high engagement level, noting that once users start paying, they stay with the company for the long run. While Skillz is currently focused only on paying users, Paradise's letter noted plans to explore other monetization methods, such as \"non-intrusive advertising\" and \"gamifying other industries and experiences,\" to add new revenue streams in the coming years.</p><p>In the first quarter, Skillz's revenues jumped 92% year over year to $84 million, ahead of its previous guidance of $80 million. The company also bumped up its year-over-year fiscal 2021 revenue growth estimate from 59% to 63%. However, this guidance does not include the potential gains from new game launches or entering new geographies.</p><p>The company has entered into a multi-year gaming agreement with the National Football League (NFL). While this deal will not add materially to Skillz's top line in fiscal 2021, it will attract more users to the platform. The company also plans to enter India by the end of fiscal 2021, a move expected to grow its addressable market by 65%. Against this backdrop, chances of Skillz reporting a steep revenue growth trajectory in coming quarters remains high.</p><p>Currently trading at 31 times trailing 12-month (TTM) sales, Skillz is still quite expensive, especially given that it's not profitable. However, the company is a solid bet on the growth potential of the mobile gaming market, which has expanded annually at a compounded average growth rate of 23% between 2015 and 2020. With a gross margin of 95%, a cash balance of $613 million, and zero debt, Skillz offers an attractive risk-reward proposition to retail investors.</p><p>3. Jushi Holdings</p><p>Shares of U.S. multi-state cannabis operator Jushi Holdings are up over 450% in the past 12 months -- and for a good reason. Although it's among the smallerU.S. cannabis companies, the company hasstrategically selected marketswith high growth potential and limited competition in which to operate, including Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Illinois, California, Nevada, and Massachusetts.</p><p>Jushi currently operates 11 medical marijuana dispensaries in Pennsylvania and plans to open an additional seven in 2021. This footprint seems even more impressive considering the fact that Pennsylvania's limited licensing structure reduces competition.</p><p>There are 528,000 registered medical marijuana patients in Pennsylvania, and the market&nbsp;is expected to rake in $1.5 billion in revenues by 2023, meaning that Jushi stands to benefit dramatically in coming months. As Pennsylvania moves toward legalizing recreational marijuana, which is a major topic ahead of 2022 elections, Jushi's extensive presence can help establish its brands rapidly in this new market.</p><p>Jushi currently operates four dispensaries in Illinois, a state which legalized sales of recreational cannabis starting Jan. 1, 2020. With an estimated 2021 annual run rate of $1.3 billion, Illinois is well-positioned to be a major revenue driver for the company. The company also holds one of the only five vertically integrated licenses in Virginia -- allowing it to cultivate, process, and sell medical cannabis to customers in a market with limited competition. AAPL investors: long-term winners</b></p>\n<p>As I mentioned&nbsp;in my recent “Apple Stock 101” article, investors that bought Apple shares in December 1980 (i.e. the IPO date) and held onto them until now realized impressive annualized gains of&nbsp;<b>19%</b>. Clearly, AAPL has been a good asset to “get and forget” over Apple’s tenure as a publicly-traded company.</p>\n<p>But allow me to work with more realistic time frames. For this exercise, I will consider “investors” those who hold AAPL for one year. To be clear, many might consider twelve months a minimum investment horizon to qualify as long term.</p>\n<p>Also, I am limiting my analysis to the past 20 years, since the stock used to be much riskier and more volatile in its first couple of decades of existence than it is now. Apple stock’s returns have been even better during this period that begins with the end of the dot-com correction:<b>35%</b>&nbsp;annualized.</p>\n<p>The chart below shows the distribution of&nbsp;<i>weekly returns</i>&nbsp;earned by an Apple stock investor, using the parameters described above, if the bet had been made on any give day since May 2001.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d658a73af3c004123aa9e0d29906ebe7\" tg-width=\"703\" tg-height=\"418\"><span>Figure 2: AAPL investor's weekly return distribution.</span></p>\n<ul>\n <li><b>Key observation</b>: if held for one year, and based on historical observations alone (i.e. not on modeled projections for the future), Apple stock can arguably be expected to produce weekly returns of about +0.5% to +1.0%. Rarely has the stock been a big-time winner or loser – say, weekly returns of more than +2% or less than -1% on average – when the investment horizon is one year.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><b>#2. AAPL speculators: higher octane</b></p>\n<p>Speculators have had a bit different experience from the above. Here, I characterize as “speculator” someone who buys AAPL and sells it ten weeks later, or roughly two and a half months after the purchase date.</p>\n<p>See histogram below. AAPL day-traders: buckle up!</b></p>\n<p>Lastly, day-traders that buy Apple stock and sell it within less than a full week have been playing a completely different game. Based on historical analysis, the answer really depends on personal goals. That’s a market cap of around $62.5 billion for a company that had sales of about $2.4 billion last year. Tesla now has a market cap of $650 billion on 2020 revenue of $31.5 billion. On a price to sales basis, Nio is selling for 26 times revenue, Tesla for 20.6 times revenue.</p>\n<p>It’s true that, because of its smaller size, Nio is growing faster than Tesla. Much fuss was made recently when it rolled its100,000th vehicle off the JAC line. While the latest ES8 does offer a lower price point than earlier models, it’s nothing likethe EP9 supercaron which Nio made its name. It’snot for the racetrack.</p>\n<p>Nio also faces more competition than Tesla ever dreamed of having, even within its niche.<b>XPeng</b>(NASDAQ:<b><u>XPEV</u></b>), which unlike Nio has its own factory in Guangzhou, delivered5,102 carsin March, against Nio’s 7,257.</p>\n<p>Nio’s totalwas 300% higherthan during the same month in 2020. But both Nio and XPeng were dwarfed by the 16,301 electrics sold byBYD Motors, which started in batteries and is backed by<b>Berkshire Hathaway’s</b>(NYSE:<b><u>BRK.A</u></b>) Warren Buffett. BYD also sells hybrid and gas-powered models.</p>\n<p><b>The Size Problem and Nio Stock</b></p>\n<p>Successful car manufacturing is about achieving and maintaining scale, necessary to keep costs down.</p>\n<p>Nio’s lack of scale means it will have trouble meeting its second-quarter goal of 7,500 cars, due to aglobal chip shortage.</p>\n<p>There are indications investors are catching on. Nio stock peaked atmore than $60 in February&nbsp;and is now down by more than a third.</p>\n<p>Tesla has achieved scale. It is delivering10 times morecars than Nio each month, and it continues to do well in China. Tesla has begun taking bookings for its Model Y,made in Shanghai, which is expected to outsell the Nio.</p>\n<p>Yetanalystscontinue to pound the table for Nio stock. The average price target at Tipranks is $62,nearly a 63% gainfrom its present price.</p>\n<p>Our Tezcan Gecgildisagreeswith the consensus. Nio sold fewer than 44,000 cars last year&nbsp;out of 1.3 million&nbsp;EVs sold throughout China.</p>\n<p><b>The Bottom Line</b></p>\n<p>The Nio is a Cadillac among electric vehicles in China. Not enough Chinese drive Cadillacs.</p>\n<p>Many analysts think of electrics as just gas-powered cars with a different power train. They’re not. They’re going to be increasingly computer-controlled. Many are going to be utility vehicles, like delivery vans. Even big car makers like<b>General Motors</b>(NYSE:<b><u>GM</u></b>) and<b>Volkswagen</b>(OTCMKTS:<b><u>VLKAY</u></b>) see transportation becoming a service, rather than remaining a product.</p>\n<p>Scale can help today’s electric makers evolve with the market. Tesla has scale. JAC has scale. But Nio is just a small part of JAC. You’re not getting JAC when you buy Nio, you’re just getting the top end of its product line.</p>\n<p>When investors realize where the electric car revolution is taking us, there will be a reckoning. JAC makesa full rangeof vehicles. Think of the Nio as its Cadillac.\nYet Nio stock is still priced a lot like Tesla. It will open today at around $37. That’s a market cap of around $62.5 billion for a company that had sales of about $2.4 billion last year. Tesla now has a market cap of $650 billion on 2020 revenue of $31.5 billion. On a price to sales basis, Nio is selling for 26 times revenue, Tesla for 20.6 times revenue.\nIt’s true that, because of its smaller size, Nio is growing faster than Tesla. Much fuss was made recently when it rolled its100,000th vehicle off the JAC line. While the latest ES8 does offer a lower price point than earlier models, it’s nothing likethe EP9 supercaron which Nio made its name. It’snot for the racetrack.\nNio also faces more competition than Tesla ever dreamed of having, even within its niche.XPeng(NASDAQ:XPEV), which unlike Nio has its own factory in Guangzhou, delivered5,102 carsin March, against Nio’s 7,257.\nNio’s totalwas 300% higherthan during the same month in 2020. But both Nio and XPeng were dwarfed by the 16,301 electrics sold byBYD Motors, which started in batteries and is backed byBerkshire Hathaway’s(NYSE:BRK.A) Warren Buffett. BYD also sells hybrid and gas-powered models.\nThe Size Problem and Nio Stock\nSuccessful car manufacturing is about achieving and maintaining scale, necessary to keep costs down.\nNio’s lack of scale means it will have trouble meeting its second-quarter goal of 7,500 cars, due to aglobal chip shortage.\nThere are indications investors are catching on. Nio stock peaked atmore than $60 in February and is now down by more than a third.\nTesla has achieved scale. It is delivering10 times morecars than Nio each month, and it continues to do well in China. Tesla has begun taking bookings for its Model Y,made in Shanghai, which is expected to outsell the Nio.\nYetanalystscontinue to pound the table for Nio stock. The average price target at Tipranks is $62,nearly a 63% gainfrom its present price.\nOur Tezcan Gecgildisagreeswith the consensus. Nio sold fewer than 44,000 cars last year out of 1.3 million EVs sold throughout China.\nThe Bottom Line\nThe Nio is a Cadillac among electric vehicles in China. Not enough Chinese drive Cadillacs.\nMany analysts think of electrics as just gas-powered cars with a different power train. They’re not. They’re going to be increasingly computer-controlled. Many are going to be utility vehicles, like delivery vans. Even big car makers likeGeneral Motors(NYSE:GM) andVolkswagen(OTCMKTS:VLKAY) see transportation becoming a service, rather than remaining a product.\nScale can help today’s electric makers evolve with the market. Tesla has scale. JAC has scale. But Nio is just a small part of JAC. You’re not getting JAC when you buy Nio, you’re just getting the top end of its product line.\nWhen investors realize where the electric car revolution is taking us, there will be a reckoning.
