Nexity was born from the merger, within the General Real Estate and Services Company (CGIS), a subsidiary created in 1995 by Compagnie Generale des Eaux (which became Vivendi in 1998), of several companies or real estate activities, particularly active in the promotion of housing and commercial real estate from some of the Compagnie Generale des eaux's historical subsidiaries in the real estate sector (such as SARI-SEERI or the activities of Compagnie Immobiliere Phenix) and for others from the contribution by the Arnault group of its real estate activities (George V group, formerly Ferinel).
In its current form, Nexity is the result of Vivendi's divestiture in 2000 of a portion of CGIS' activities, which were consolidated into Nexity SA.
Nexity went public on October 21, 2004.
