Companhia Paranaense de Energia-COPEL is a fully integrated electric power company engaged in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in the Brazilian State of Parana, pursuant to concessions granted by the Brazilian regulatory agency for the electric sector, ANEEL. At December 31, 2012, we operated eighteen (18) hydroelectric plants, one (1) wind plant and
one (1) thermoelectric plant, with a total installed capacity of 4,737.1 MW. If we include the installed
capacity of the generation companies in which we have an ownership interest, our total installed capacity
is 5,343.1 MW. We produce electricity almost exclusively through our hydroelectric plants. Our assured
energy totaled 2,058.1 average MW in 2012 and 4.0 million costumers. COPEL hold concessions to distribute electricity in approximately 98% of the 399 municipalities in the State of Parana. At the end of December 2012, we owned and operated 2,174 kilometers of transmission lines and 187,310 kilometers of distribution lines.
